Moon Children

This article is about the cult. You may be looking for the website or the story arc.

The Moon Children was a cult consisting of several members ranging from early teens to young adults, and possibly older members. They appear to worship a moon deity, which they call Luna.

It was revealed by Rosa that Ben has a connection to them, and was most likely a member.

It is revealed during the Awakening Arc that the cult was actually a front for the Eternity Project.

History

1998 or before

The Moon Children was founded in 1998 by Kelbris as a front for the «Eternity Project», which aimed to allow the achievement of an immortal «enlightenment». The front was aimed at reaching disenfranchised youth as the primary bulk of their personnel. Kelbris claimed that he began to receive whispers from a deity he called Luna, which were said to detail how the world would end. It is stated this occurred when the cult was «still young», but how developed the order actually was at that point isn’t elaborated upon. Kelbris was later found dead by electrocution; and whether he meant to or not, he had undergone ascension. Kelbris became close to deified after his death, posthumously honored as the cult’s greatest prophet, whose teachings became the cornerstone of the cult’s beliefs.

Now ascended, Kelbris became the entity later known as The Father, who himself had become a greatly revered figure within the cult by 2010.

Around this time, Ben became involved with either the cult or someone in it. As a result, he became the subject of ascension on April 23. The method used in the ritual was drowning.

What was left of his consciousness, along with something else far more malicious, was contained inside of his copy of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and left in the care of an old man. The Father was also apparently sealed inside of the cartridge as well, for unknown reasons.

Jadusable acquired the haunted cartridge from the old man during his second year of college. BEN then began taunting Jadusable for several days, at which point Jadusable «woke up» The Father at the cost of his own life. BEN then ‘escaped’ the cartridge to the internet via Jadusable’s online correspondence about his experiences with the cartridge. After BEN escaped, he dropped hints on Jadusable’s YouTube channel that led users to youshouldnthavedonethat.net, a newly-acquired website for use by the Moon Children.

The site showed that they intended to move in order to keep one or several former members out for an unknown reason. Among them was Alex, said to be the cult’s greatest warrior. The first event users witnessed was the ascension of Nekko, which was unable to be prevented. Over the next few days, users had a hand in attempts to prevent Ifrit’s and Rosa’s disappearances, both of which failed. Users also began helping Alex to escape, though the success of this attempt was left ambiguous.

By 2011, several missing or dead members of the Moon Children had been trapped inside Wayward Horizon, a hidden forum section on Within Hubris.

During the Awakening Arc, Sarah is given possession of the haunted cartridge and is charged by the sprit of Ben with freeing the Father’s prisoners. Inside the game, she encounters the in-game Moon Children, who work to hinder her progress.

Sarah is tasked by Ifrit (Matt) to destroy the Moon Children as part of their plan to perform the Fourth Day Glitch to create an avenue to The Father. The Moon Children themselves transform themselves into their respective bosses as they battle Sarah. Sarah is able to defeat the Odolwa and Goht Moon Children and absorb them as heart pieces, albeit in the case of the latter she required considerable assistance from Rosa. The Gyorg Moon Child, learning from the mistakes of the others, grants Sarah invulnerability and intended to keep her in the boss fight forever, as she lacked the tools (or, masks) needed to actually kill the boss. In the ensuing «battle», Sarah managed to knock herself out of the boss area and fled the area, where she was met by a corrupted Jadusable, who promptly killed her. After being revived and performing the Fourth Day Glitch, Matt reveals he has been aligned with the Moon Children the entire time and that Sarah was little more than a pawn in their scheme. When Sarah finds Ben and Jadusable hiding together in the Clock Tower’s sewers, Jadusable admonishes Sarah for simply believing everything she was told, and explained that he was trying to stop the Glitch from being replicated the entire time. He explains that the Moon Children serve The Father in order to twist the world into a nightmare of His creation — but in reality, they are just as clueless as to what He wants as everyone else. He also states that in the interim between Sarah’s death and her revival, he killed the Gyorg Moon Child, but his Fierce Deity’s blade broke when he tried to kill the final child — the Moonchild wearing Majora’s Mask. It is this child who Sarah ultimately fights, after becoming imbued with Jadusable’s soul and strength, in the form of Majora’s Wrath. The final Moonchild is defeated when Sarah plays the Song of Healing before it, causing it to simply disappear with a screech.

Later, The Father states that in order to protect the world, he is removing all «anomalies» — those who wish to harm, kill, or otherwise upset the natural order. While it is known that this parameter applied to Matt, who was subsequently erased, it is unknown if the Moon Children survived this purge, though all things considered it seems rather likely they were erased too.

The Moon Children had two creeds for separate occasions. One was their official creed, and the other was used for initiation ceremonies. The spelling has not been altered.

They had several apocalypse theories, mostly revolving around the year 2012.

This is the most popular of the 2012 apocalypse stories, and the one most often referenced in the media and popular culture. The Mayan calendar is quite complex, and is broken up into units called “Kin”, “Tun”, and “Baktun”. The much hyped “13-baktun cycle” is scheduled to be completed 1,872,000 days (or 13 baktuns) after the beginning of their calendar. This period of time is the well knwon Mayan “Great Cycle” of their Long Count calendar and is equal to 5125.36 of our standard years. This is where the date of December 12, 2012 comes from, as the Mayan calendar purportedly began August 11th, 3114 BCE — do the math, and you’ll come to the same conclusion as other Mayan scholars. The “end” of the Mayan calendar is 12/12/2012. Hence the 2012 apocalypse scare.

One reason people put so much stock in the Mayan Long Count calendar is that the Mayans were extremely sophisticated mathematicians and stargazers. It is well known that Mayans understood mathematical concepts hundreds of even thousands of years before the rest of the world. The Mayans worked out the seemingly simple concept of zero by around 36 BCE. Inscriptions discovered by archaeologists show the Mayans working with complex sums up to the hundreds of millions. The Mayans also produced extremely accurate astronomical maps and notes — their charts of the movements of the moon and planets are far superior to the maps and charts of any other civilization that was working strictly from observations by the naked eye.

Because the Mayans are known to have worked out a complex and accurate calendar well before “Western civilization”, people put great faith in their 2012 apocalypse theory.

According to Hindu scripture, the “Golden Age of Krishna” is likely to start in 2012. In the “Brahma-Vaivarta Purana”, Lord Krishna tells a devotee named Ganga Devi that a Golden Age will come in the Kali Yuga – one of the four stages of development that the world goes through as part of the earth’s time cycle — a cycle described in Hindu scriptures. Lord Krishna predicted that this Golden Age will start 5,000 years after the beginning of the Kali Yuga, and will last for 10,000 years.

That may sound like sometime in the distant future, but according to some Hindu researches, the Kali Yuga began on February 18, 3102 BCE. That means there is only a difference of 12 years between the Hindu’s beginning of the Kali Yuga and the Mayan’s beginning of their “Fifth Great Cycle”. Its important to know that the ancient Hindus mainly used a lunar calendar but also used solar calendars — this throws off those of us in the West, as the ancient Hindu time system is vastly different from our own. By either solar or lunar years, we are over 5,000 years into the Kali Yuga and it is time for Lord Krishna’s prophecy to happen according to the ancient Hindu scriptures. This may not be a direct reference to 2012, but is so closely aligned to the Mayan and other prophecies, that people lump it in with other “2012 apocalypse” theories.

You may be surprised to learn that many 2012 apocalypse believers point to some NASA studies as evidence of the coming endtimes. NASA has released a study of the sun that includes predictions about solar flares, sunspots, and other solar interference that could have a catastrophic effect on life here on Earth. According to the report:

“Many forecasters believe Solar Cycle 24 will be big and intense. Peaking in 2011 or 2012, the cycle to come could have significant impacts on telecommunications, air traffic, power grids and GPS systems. In this age of satellites and cell phones, the next solar cycle could make itself felt as never before.”

Some see the fact that this new solar outburst will arrive in 2012 as more than a coincidence — maybe it is further evidence of a catastrophic event in 2012, something that ushers in the 2012 apocalypse.

Dating back to 1998, a Moonchild named Kelbris recieved several whispers from Luna herself. The Order was still young then and Kelbris was the first member to have been talked to by Her. Rather than Ascending him, however, these whispers informed him of how The End will come about. The whispers were brief and vague, detailed below:

Moon Children is the second story arc of Ben Drowned. This arc contains two main parts, titled YSHDT and Hubris.

YSHDT (short for youshouldnthavedonethat) follows the discovery of a mysterious cult, who are revealed to sacrifice members to their deity in a ritual called ascension. Hubris follows a series of odd messages leading up to the introduction of a new forum containing many secrets.

From what I’ve seen there were several caeserian cipher codes that looked to be much more complex than anything we’ve seen so far, so we definitely need some expert cipher crackers to start solving these. If you were adept at cracking them in the first part, then we’re going to need your help more than ever for some of these.

7. Lastly, if possible, we need archivers to help keep an up-to-date uh. archive of the events so people can catch up easily. I recommend making a new page on the wiki.

There’s a job for everyone and everyone can help out, and hell feel free to split it up into different teams of people or even different communities of people (like the ZeldaUniverse forums would be responcible for finding Alex, the Reddit forums in charge of theorycrafting, etc). This is the first.

These messages will not last long. I have set up a failsafe so that you all will get this information before Ben can tamper with it, and it will be quickly removed so that he cannot infect it. I hope you are all watching this account.

By now, I’m either long gone, or it’s caught up to me. Either way, these uploads will be my last messages to you.

Now that I realize what he kept saying.. that it was in front of us the whole time, I am surprised that nobody got it but me.

All of the clues were there.. haha.. a few of you even came really close.

I told you all that if things got really bad— that I would contact everyone I could and give them what I have. Now that it can no longer protect me, I will be doing just that.

These files going up here, they’re on a timer. The timer is taking them down, too. Everything will be automated, so don’t worry. Despite not knowing you did, I have a feeling you all provided me protection in my more harrowing hours. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking.

I can’t tell you how I’ll be letting it out. If Ben doesn’t know, when it goes, he’ll have less time to try and stop it. Just keep an eye out. I hope this reaches at least one of you, and you will spread the word.

I know there will be skepticism, I know there will be a lot of mistrust among all of you. Ben has done an amazing job at keeping you fighting over just who and what is real.

That’s not going to stop.

But also know that his lies will only reach so far. He wants you all to keep playing. He wants you in the game, but only just enough that he can keep mocking you.

The file that led you to me, it contained a larger secret than you knew.

All of the answers are right there. Think.

By now you might have noticed a pattern. I wont tell you if that pattern is useful or not. Just keep watching. Today you will get all the answers I have.

That’s only the first part of things, though.

There’s more to it. You have all been following this as though it were a game.

Ben, he was a part of that game, so he sees things in hues that reflect it, but it’s real now. It’s beyond a game.

I know it is natural for everyone to want to look deeper. To make connections where they don’t exist.

The Truth has always been right there. Like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, the answers were given to you.

Few things have been recurring, but if you look, if you really look, they’re there. The salvation comes in noticing what has emerged in the pattern.

There will be something more than these notes, soon. Again, I will not tell you when, just keep watching.

If you can get to it before him, it will contain all of the parts of the puzzle, but it will be up to you to put them together before he does.

Children of the Moon

In the town of Bisden, nobody leaves their home after dark. As soon as the sun begins to set — shutters are drawn shut, candles are snuffed out, and doors are locked tight. Before the moon is fully risen, the entire town appears deserted, and silence reigns supreme.

“Did you hear that?” whispered Freja, sounding very small and afraid in the dark.
“Shut. Up.” Her older brother, Freud, hissed through clenched teeth as he eyed the black windows of the house nearest to them. They were probably locked. Nobody in their right mind would leave their windows unlocked at night. Not in Bisden, anyway.
“I told you we shouldn’t play in the forest,” continued Freja. “I said we should go back sooner.”
“And I said to shut up,” Freud went on. “Whining about the past doesn’t change the present.” Freud looked at his sister, shivering in the dark. “It doesn’t change the situation we’re in.”

Before Freja could respond, the faint sound of a child’s laughter floated across the wind. Goosebumps erupted along Freud’s neck and arms. Something about the sound seemed…wrong.

“Maybe there’s other–“, Freud clasped his hand over Freja’s mouth. Pulling her in close, he shrank back into the shadows of the alley. Again, the unearthly sound drifted across the air. Freja tensed in Freud’s arms as she realized the magnitude of their situation. A child’s voice, oddly distorted, broke the silence of the night like a fist through glass.

“Come out, come out, wherever you are!”

The Thing lumbered across the mouth of the alley — just a few feet from Freud and Freja’s hiding place. It was roughly the size of a child, yet shuffled with its arms hanging grotesquely close to the ground — making its disproportionate body appear markedly apelike. It was completely nude, and had skin so shockingly white that it reflected the glow from the moon. The Thing turned its shimmering bald head toward the alley as it crossed. Its face was perfectly smooth, and entirely devoid of feature — save for an impossibly wide smile with thin lips the colour of blood. The crimson slash of its mouth appeared to stretch from ear to ear. Freud felt warmth spread down his thigh as his bladder let go.

The Thing froze mid-stride, its body becoming as rigid as stone. Slowly, it turned its torso until it was facing the alleyway. It took a tentative step forward. Freja sucked in a sharp breath through her nose as she began to hyperventilate. Freud clamped his hand over her mouth, but he was too late. Impossibly fast, The Thing twisted its head toward their hiding place, producing a sickening crackle from its neck.

In the town of Bisden, nobody leaves their house after dark. Every day, young ones are sternly told to be home by dusk. They are told of the evil that haunts the streets at night. They are told to always remain silent, because if they hear you — The Children of the Moon will tear you limb from limb.

Phases of the Moon Activities

The ever-changing phases of the moon are so fascinating to explore. Children are always amazed when they get to see the moon up in the sky. They have questions and comments that go on and on. I love it!

I hope you enjoy the all of the great hands-on activities and ideas for exploring Montessori Moon Activities.

This week for our M trays we used an Mm handwriting printables to practice our handwriting. I laminated the cards which made it easy for the children to either use dry erase markers on the cards or a pencil with paper.

For the Scissor practice printable you can use them for cutting strips or as beginner handwriting practice. Have your child follow the dotted line with scissors or a pencil. Bells loves to cut, so this was one of her favorite things to do.

There is also a moon coloring page which we used for Q tip painting.

Painting the moon phases. Add a couple Tablespoons of flour to thicken white paint. It makes your painting look textured.

This was the set-up I prepared and the children could paint any or all of the moon phases if they wanted.

Make Homemade Moon Rocks

I love how all of my kids took the time to explore rocks outside. We talked about textures and shapes of the rocks and then they made their own. We also had read several wonderful books about the moon.

To make Moon Rocks you need:

Have the children make their own rocks out of clay.

Allow the rocks to dry and harden.

Paint the rocks and add your glitter.

The moon rocks came out wonderful.

Galaxy Inspired Montessori Salt Tray for letter and handwriting practice. We have been using our sandpaper letters for a while now and they have been great to include in our homeschooling. After demonstrating the letter m in the salt tray, I had Bells trace the m herself. The next step was her practicing her own m. She would say the m sound while she was working. It was so cute!

This was an easy tray to put together all you need is Salt and Dark Blue Glitter. Make sure to use a tray or dish with at least 1/2 inch sides so it doesn’t make a mess and the salt stays in the area.

The Letter book by Bobby and June George is great to include in any alphabet work or just to have for your home library.

This has been an absolutely amazing month of moon activities and working on the letter m. Isn’t learning about the moon amazing?

We’ve learned about the Native American names for the monthly Full Moons. Enjoyed many talks about Neil Armstrong and that moment in 1969 when he took that first step on the moon. It’s been an epic experience with the kids. Plus, lot’s of star gazing.
