Demon Slayer: 10 Amazing Works Of Fan Art That We Love
Demon Slayer has received a tremendous amount of attention recently, and here are 10 pieces of fan art that we just can’t get over!
While Demon Slayer was originally published back in 2016, the supernatural series about an orphaned boy trying to turn his demonic sister back into a human being has recently exploded in popularity due to the 2019 anime series. Thanks to the phenomenal animation by ufotable and the engaging storytelling of series creator Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer has hit the mainstream. With an animated theatrical movie set for 2020 in Japan, Demon Slayer may be the next My Hero Academia.
Following mainstream success comes a dedicated base of Demon Slayer fans who are ready to show off their devotion to the series in any way they can. Among the many brilliant creations that Demon Slayer fans have created and shared online, it’s the amazing array of fan art from artists worldwide that will be celebrated today. Here are 10 amazing Demon Slayer fan art that you are guaranteed to love. Give these great artists your love and support.
10 Nezuko With A Ponytail
Similar to shows like Hunter x Hunter and, to an extent, Naruto, Demon Slayer is a periodic anime series that’s set in a fictionalized depiction of ancient Japan. Because of its feudal time frame, one can’t help but wonder how these characters from the past would look like if they lived in modern times. Twitter artist helloclonion (@helloclonion) reimagined Nezuko Kamado as a stylized Millenial with a playful ponytail and a Big Gulp.
9 Butterfly
Nerea Sanroma (@little_enne), an illustrator from Barcelona, Spain, drew demon hunter Shinobu Kochou in all her Insecta glory. As part of the Insect Pillar of the Demon Killing Corps, Shinobu’s appearance and abilities derive from the family tree of insects. Nerea’s charming illustration of Shinobu has her using her signature Dance of the Butterflies move, which stings the victim multiple times with a poisoned-tipped blade. It’s a beautiful drawing of a cruel and deadly attack.
8 Halloween
Halloween may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the boys from Demon Slayer can’t have a night of trick or treating of their own. Emma (@Snartles) whipped up this festive picture of Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira celebrating All Hallows’ Eve in their scary Halloween costumes. As fun as it is to see Tanjiro as a werewolf and Zenitsu as a mummy, seeing Inosuke wearing his iconic boar’s head while dressed up as a zombie is simply hilarious.
7 The Wind Pillar Has Arrived
At first glance, it’s easy to mistake MR.DULLPEN’s (@MrDullpen) fan art of Sanemi Shinazugawa as the real deal. The bold black and white colors and dramatic composition make this unbelievable artwork look like a panel from the Demon Slayer manga. MR. DULLPEN did a terrific job of illustrating the intimidating power of the Wind Pillar from the Demon Slaying Corps.
6 Patrolling the Forests
Giyu Tomioka may appear cold and intimidating, but deep inside is a caring and sensitive young man. Nonetheless, Giyu does take his role as demon slayer seriously, as illustrated by this wonderful fan art by Canadian artist Chelsea Li (@cheseely). Li’s artwork depicts Giyu in a masculine light as he patrols a wintery forest at lightning speed.
5 Buying Swords After School
It’s easy to forget amongst all the bloodshed and drama that the main cast of Demon Slayers are just a couple of kids learning how to master their skills ala My Hero Academia. That’s what great about Dan Arceno (@khukhoy) modern-day interpretation of all the kids in Demon Slayer.
Seeing all the kids picking out new swords after school is a fun reminder of their youth and innocence. Additionally, Dan’s artwork does a nice job of alluding to the kids’ duties as demon slayers.
4 Feral Little Boy
Among the many fantastic characters of Demon Slayer, the art community has taken a great shine to Inosuke and his tribal boar outfit. Inosuke’s cooky-looking boar’s head has kinda become a mascot for the series, and it’s plastered all over the internet via fan art and memes.
Mizby (@mizbino) did a terrific visual exploration of Inosuke. Mizby illustration features lots of expressive facial expressions and poses of Inosuke with and without his mask. There’s even a cute little chibi Inosuke to round things out. Awww.
3 Demon Slayers
Demon Slayers Assembled! The gang is all here in Juwei’s (@juwei_) stunning ensemble illustration of the demon slayers. Not only do all the characters look good here, but you get a cool, subtle hint at all their skills, such as Tanjiro’s Water Surface Slice and Zenitsu’s Thunderclap Flash. This fan art would work beautifully as an official Blu-ray cover art or a theatrical poster for the series.
2 Angry Demon Noises
To anyone outside of the Demon Salyer fandom, all the fan art of the demon-possessed Nezuko that are appearing online only comes off as adorable drawings of a cute Japanese girl with a piece of bamboo in her mouth.
Fortunately, Kurisustinah (@Kurisustinah) puts the devil back in Nezuko with an incredible illustration of her in demon mode. The fiery background along with Nezuko’s sinister nails and demonic marks give a glimpse of her dark self. It’s an intense yet mesmerizing reminder that inside this cute little girl lies a chaotic monster.
1 Nezuko ONI-sama
As entertaining as Demon Slayer is in its current form, one can’t help but wonder what the series would look like if the genders of the main cast were reversed. Vietnamese artist Bach Do (@Dishwasher1910), who works as a concept artist for gen:LOCK, created unbelievable rule 63 designs of Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke.
Amusingly, male Nezuko has become the older demon-possessed brother of the lovely sister version of Tanjiro. A splendid take of a more female-driven cast, any Demon Slayer fan artist should try their own hand at making rule 63 designs of the cast.
The 15 Greatest ‘Demon Slayer’ Ships, Ranked
If you’re like a lot of fans, you might be watching Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba with shipping goggles on. Whether they’re canon or fan-created, the best Demon Slayer ships are the ones that get fans excited about romantic possibilities.
For this list, we’ll be ranking some of the most popular Demon Slayer ships. Since we based our choices on what’s popular on Archive of Our Own and other fandom hubs, it’s likely that we missed some awesome obscure ships. But this list of Demon Slayer ships covers plenty of heavy hitters, such as Zenitsu x Nezuko, Sabito x Giyu, Mitsuru x Obanai, and more. Keep in mind that we will be talking about things that happen in the manga, including canonical relationships. Don’t worry though, we’ll include a warning ahead of any spoilers.
Which pairings do you ship?
Obanai x Mitsuri
This one is almost entirely manga spoilers, so proceed with caution.
Both Obanai and Mitsuri are Hashira, which means they have to work closely with one another on a regular basis. But they’re more than just colleagues. Obanai spends most of the series deeply in love with Mitsuri. He pays close attention to her, discerning small changes in her mood from how much she eats or minute facial expressions. He credits her for helping him feel like a normal person, which is something he doesn’t usually feel.
Mitsuri is the Love Hashira, but she doesn’t pick up on Obanai’s feelings. Sadly, those feelings only come out after Mitsuri is slain by Muzan. As she’s about to perish, the two finally express their emotions verbally. When they’re reincarnated, they’re finally able to be together.
Uzui x His Wives
If you prefer to stick to canon, you might like this ship. Uzui is married to three women: Suma, Makio, and Hinatsuru. This might sound a bit sketchy, but it’s expected in the shinobi community they hail from. The four of them seem to enjoy a loving, mutually respectful relationship. They work together to deal with demons using the skills they have acquired as ninja, but they also have conversations about their emotions, hopes, and dreams for the future. Uzui has made it clear that he wants his wives to prioritize their own lives and happiness over their relationship with him or their missions.
So far, the anime hasn’t explored the differences in his relationships with each of them, but fans can fill in the blanks however they want.
Kagaya x Amane
Because it’s based in canon, everything about this ship is manga spoiler territory.
When Kagaya Ubuyashiki was 13, 12-year-old Amane Himorogi was selected to become a priestess who would also be Kagaya’s wife. One of Amane’s duties would be helping with Kagaya’s significant medical needs. Kagaya only agreed to this if Amane did so of her own volition.
The two eventually developed a loving, supportive marriage through which they had multiple children. While Kagaya’s duties as the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps and his poor health are often obstacles for a happy life, their love for one another carries them through those hardships.
Tanjiro x Kanao
Manga spoiler time: The two of them do eventually get married and have children. So if you noticed potential romantic vibes between the two of them in the anime, you’re perceptive indeed!

The Most Popular Demon Slayer Characters of All Time are kind of who you would think they are.
This list doesn’t have a ton of flair in that sense, but I did make sure to break it down with a good handful of runner-ups as well!

As far as how I built this one: we’re going straight to the voters scores from MyAnimeList and The Demon Slayer Wiki Fandom Popularity Polls.
For this I won’t be factoring in Academy members and SHJ Army votes strictly because of how it lined up between MyAnimeList and Wiki, but in future lists I may again!

Demon Slayer Characters (Ranked)
1. Tanjiro Kamado
In Demon Slayer Tanjiro Kamado is the main character. He is a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps, and he entered in order to find a way to transform his sister, Nezuko Kamado, back into a human.
Tanjiro’s most notable quality is his ability to empathize with others, even Demons, which causes him to pause before striking. This pause has a drawback in that it has sometimes encouraged Demons to take advantage of his understanding disposition to rebound and resume the battle.
On the other hand, he gathers maturity over time and becomes more calculated and strict in his judgments.
His bravery in defending the helpless binds him to treat his adversary with reverence and honor, whether they be innocent humans or bad Demons.
Tanjiro is a human with a rising fire of anger and revenge inside of them, hidden underneath his seemingly kind and polite exterior. Tanjiro seemed to be mindless as a Demon, as most people do when they first begin their transition.
He behaved like a ferocious beast, savagely assaulting anyone who crossed his path. Even his comrades and friends were not spared of it. The only one he refused to hurt was Nezuko.
Tanjiro’s level of tragedy after his whole family was killed by demons except Nezuko is nothing short of tragic, immediately transforming him into a sympathetic figure and a near-perfect protagonist in the hearts of viewers.
Tanjiro is clearly destined for greater things, from the epic battles he’s already been a part of to the dormant promise that resides inside him, and one can only hope that he and his sister get to live the lives they deserved before disaster hit their families.
2. Nezuko Kamado
Demon Slayer’s deuteragonist is Nezuko Kamado. She is a Demon and Tanjiro Kamado’s younger sister, as well as one of the Kamado family’s two surviving members. She was once a human before Muzan Kibutsuji assaulted her and transformed her into a Demon.
She is a tiny, fair-skinned young woman with big, pronounced fangs and long, claw-like nails that fade to red where they point. She’s dressed in a light pink kimono with a hemp leaf pattern, a paler pink lining, and a red and white checkered hanhaba obi with an orange threaded obi above it.
Nezuko’s first human personality was that of a kind and compassionate girl who, like her older brother Tanjiro, put others before herself. She was also a responsible older sister to her younger brothers, always prioritizing their interests over her own.
Even after being reborn, Nezuko is not afraid to put herself in harm’s way, shielding her friends from Demons. Following Tanjiro’s apology, Nezuko’s humane, laid-back attitude is seen to confirm this fact.
The dynamic surrounding the character is what makes her a fan favorite, pushing the fans to root for a happy ending for her.
3. Kanao Tsuyuri
Kanao Tsuyuri is a pivotal character in the story. Shinobu Kocho’s Tsuguko and the adoptive child of Shinobu and Kanae Kocho, she is a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Kanao is a young girl with wide, gentle eyes that are framed by thick eyelashes in a pink-lilac hue. Her thin black hair is pulled back into a ponytail on the right side of her head and secured with a pink and green butterfly decoration that belonged to Kanae Kocho, her adoptive sister. Her fringe is straight, with two chin-length strands curving downwards from behind both of her ears.
Kanao is an indecisive and quiet teenager when she first meets the Kocho sisters, owing to the trauma she has suffered in the past. As a defensive tactic, she became reluctant to make decisions of her own and repressed her feelings.
Despite her lack of feeling or ambition, Kanao ignored Shinobu and Kanae’s desires and made the final decision on her own, implying that her will had been improving all along.
Kanao eventually gains the ability to share her thoughts and desires more freely, as shown by her relief as Tanjiro recovers from his injury, her telling Shinobu that she wishes to train with her, and her shock and distress at Shinobu’s plan to beat Doma.
Kanao was later seen to have fully restored her capacity to freely articulate her feelings and make her own decisions during the final fight against Muzan Kibutsuji.
The mysterious way the character is set up makes her perfect for the Demon Slayer Univers and her emotional arc makes her extremely likable.
4. Genya Shinazugawa
Another big supporting character is Genya Shinazugawa. He is a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps, as well as the younger brother of Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira.
Genya is a “lone wolf” who refuses to accept assistance from others and has little interest in being friendly or showing good manners. He eventually learned to be more sociable and less ill-mannered towards others, especially Tanjiro and his friends.
Sanemi’s failure to accept Genya made him feel insecure, as he realized how insignificant he is in comparison to his companions. Despite this, he did everything he could to help his comrades, even though it resulted in him being badly maimed in the process.
The most interesting things regarding this character are his abilities. Genya can momentarily acquire demonic attributes by eating the live flesh of a Demon.
Depending on the individual’s strength, he will be able to regenerate and recover physical strength equal to one. Genya is capable of momentarily overpowering Aizetsu in this form.
Genya had created his own Blood Demon Art when fighting Upper Rank 1 after eating the flesh and cells of at least two Upper Ranks (Kokushibo and Hantengu). Genya’s Blood Demon Arts, like Nezuko’s, were designed to combat and inflict damage on other Demons.
Genya demonstrated the ability to separate his cells and combine them with his rifle, which has several eyes on top of the barrel and muzzle, similar to Kokushibo’s blade, which presumably improves its accuracy and strength.
5. Muzan Kibutsuji
Muzan Kibutsuj is Demon Slayer’s main antagonist. He is the first Demon King, as well as the progenitor of all other Demons.
Muzan has been transformed into a Demon millennia ago while attempting to cure his own fatal disease, and his dream has been to survive without fear of death and achieve true immortality ever since.
He tries to achieve it by overcoming his weakness to sunlight, which he is now attempting to do in one of two ways: by seeking the Blue Spider Lily or by making more Demons in the expectation that one day one of them will be able to overcome their weakness to sunlight.
Muzan is cold-hearted, ruthless, and incredibly smart. He finds little merit in any person he has met, and he has no regard for his own subordinates. Only when his idea of greatness is going ahead or when his subordinates fully surrender to his will does he express emotion.
His most defining characteristics are intense narcissism, pettiness, and an obsession with being the ideal person. His intense egocentrism is almost inevitable, given that he has had nearly 1000 years to live and watch, with few real obstacles.
He is nearly unconcerned about almost everything but his reluctance to walk in the heat, which is his main motivation.
This unusual villain is a perfect fit for such an original story and the fact that there are very few similar characters it is easy to see why the fans love him.
6. Zenitsu Agatsuma
Zenitsu Agatsuma is one of Demon Slayer’s major characters. He is a Demon Slayer.
Zenitsu is a young man with pale skin and eyes that fade from soft brown to gold and are downward-sloped and scared-looking. He has short, yellow hair that hangs in messy bangs in front of his ears, breaking off squarely at the ends where it blends to a darker orange hue.
Zenitsu comes off as a liar, claiming that he doesn’t have much longer to live due to the risky nature of his role as a Demon Slayer. Despite his might, he has low self-esteem and even considers himself worthless, as shown by the fact that he couldn’t believe he had killed a Demon and convinced himself that it was Shoichi, despite the fact that the latter was a small child with no special Demon-slaying abilities.
Despite these flaws, Zenitsu always tries to live up to the standards that others have for him and will put in his best effort when necessary. He has a great deal of appreciation and appreciation for his peers, as well as his late coach, Jigoro Kuwajima.
Zenitsu is undoubtedly one of the most volatile characters on the program, at first seeming to be little more than a standard comedic relief character. Before he demonstrates the absolutely amazing nature of his breathing method.
The fact that his fighting capabilities truly emerge when he passes out demonstrates how well his unconscious has been conditioned to deal with such huge challenges.
7. Inosuke Hashibira
Inosuke Hashibira is a traveling friend of Tanjiro Kamado and one of the core characters in Demon Slayer. In the Demon Slayer Corps, he is also a Demon Slayer.
Inosuke is a young man of medium height and pale skin, with an unusually toned and muscular body for his age, especially over his stomach and arms. In stark comparison, he has a stunningly feminine face, with big, wide eyes framed by an assortment of long eyelashes, dark to light green irises, slender eyebrows, and what seems to be a short, well-mannered jaw.
His short, black hair hangs well above his shoulders, fading to blue at the tips and creating an unruly, irregular fringe that falls slightly over his eyes, puffing out before curving and thinning towards his forehead.
He is a short-tempered and arrogant young man who believes he is the best warrior. This sometimes puts him in undue danger because he appears to overestimate his strengths in relation to the opponent and refuses to consider defeat.
Inosuke has been seen to have no knowledge of natural human behavior as a result of being raised by boars, as he constantly assumes that others who touch him try to attack him and doesn’t seem to appreciate the compassion others offer him.
Despite everything, the character stands out among the rest which makes him well-liked by the fans.
8. Giyu Tomioka
Giyu Tomioka is one of Demon Slayer’s main supporting characters. He is the new Water Hashira and a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps.
Giyu is a tall young man with a robust build and pale skin who wears an unimpressed or emotionless look nearly all of the time.
He is dressed in a dark cyan-tinted Demon Slayer outfit with buttoned white leg-wraps and a pair of white zori with dark blue straps, his socks the same cyan color as his uniform.
Giyu has a grim smile on his face at all times. He has a reserved demeanor and a firm sense of fairness, and he has no patience with those who are unaware of their own shortcomings and waste their lives.
Despite allowing Nezuko Kamado to survive thanks to Tanjiro Kamado’s perseverance, he kills other Demons without hesitation and has little regard for them, as do most Demon Slayers.
Despite his aloof and stoic demeanor, Giyu is protective and loving for everyone he cares for and calls his mates. This is first shown when he risks his life for Tanjiro and Nezuko by threatening to commit seppuku if the latter ever ate a human.
The personality the character was written with made him memorable for the fans who want to see more of him.
9. Kyojuro Rengoku
Kyojuro Rengoku is a Demon Slayer supporting character. He is the new Flame Hashira and a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps.
Kyojuro is a tall young adult with an athletic body. He has long bright yellow hair with crimson highlights on the side of his head, two shoulder-length and two chin-length bangs, black forked eyebrows, and golden eyes that fade to red with white pupils.
Kyojuro is very passionate about his responsibilities as a Hashira, and he comes off as a cheerfully eccentric character. He was amiable, pure of spirit, and possessed exceptional technique and swordsmanship as a result of rigorous training and discipline.
Kyojuro is a devout warrior who upheld his mother’s code of morality and values, the most important of which is his insistence that all born strong have a responsibility to defend the poor.
The unique breathing technique he possesses makes him notable and extremely interesting to the fans.
10. Kagaya Ubuyashiki
Kagaya Ubuyashiki is the 97th Demon Slayer Corps commander, known to his subordinates and colleagues as Oyakata-sama. He is also the Ubuyashiki Family’s patriarch.
Kagaya is a young woman with fair skin and black shoulder-length locks. He has a curse mark on his body that is slowly killing him and making his skin appear rotten, spreading down his face and covering his eyes, rendering him blind.
By the time he died, the curse has spread all over his body, making movement almost impossible. At Kagaya’s death, Muzan described him as having a Buddha-like smile.
He normally wears a black kimono with a long white haori that has a pink and purple misty design across the lower back.
Kagaya has a cool attitude, and he shows sincere concern for the Demon Slayers, even treating them as his children. He still knows how to deal with scrutiny and is open with his flaws.
While he seems to be lenient, he is objective and free of prejudice, as shown by his willingness to acknowledge Tanjiro and Nezuko’s plight and even upholding their cause when others disagreed.
Although his speech is usually fluid and polite, it is highly tactful, using phrases and intonations in such a way that the person he is dealing with can pay attention.
He is an impactful character and his actions affect the story a lot which is why the fans love this unique character.
Who are the 9 Hashiras?
The nine Hashiras are Flame Hashira: Rengoku Kyojuro, Sound Hashira: Uzui Tengen, Love Hashira: Kanroji Mitsuri, Serpent Hashira: Iguro Obanai, Insect Hashira: Kocho Shinobu, Water Hashira: Tomioka Giyuu, Mist Hashira: Tokito Muichiro, Wind Hashira: Shinazugawa Sanemi and Stone Hashira: Himegima Gyomei.
Is Zenitsu the main Demon Slayer character?
Zenitsu Agatsuma is one of the main characters in Demon Slayer, along with Inosuke Hashibira, a traveling companion of Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado.
