Chapter Text

«Human! We brought you flowers!» Raon excitedly flew towards his human. Cale stretched out his hands to hold the flying dragon. Raon then snuggled in his neck.

Is it just him or are they a bit clingier than usual?

«We made flower crowns too, nya!»

«I made the best crown, nya!» Hong jumped on Cale’s shoulder and placed 3 flower crowns on top.

«This great and mighty dragon might not be the best at arts and craft, but he will learn!» Raon Miru puffed up his chest, looking at his human with an affectionate gaze.

The kids will tell him all they did outside, so that they hopefully make Cale feel as if they’re outside with them. So that Cale wont want to go outside because their stories are enough.

«Is that so?» Cale with his usual stoic face has a warm glint in his eyes as he pat On on her head. The girl nuzzled her head on his head, slightly purring.

Cale could see Ron at the back smiling with his usual benign smile as he poured some lemon tea and watched the interaction between him and the children.

Cale glanced at the chains again and frowned. He wants to sit outside and watch the children play- though he’ll never admit it. He also wants to bask in the sun, while sitting at a bench and watch as the others trained their ass off.

«Oh, right! Grandpa and grandma will be coming soon!»

Cale’s ears perked up at that comment. Perfect timing. He’ll ask his father to convince everyone to let him out early. By the way, this was not what he imagined he would do after the war. He half-expected the black dragon to beg to go see the world.

He was quite suprised when they want him inside, rather than outside.

He started to think about what he’ll do once he gets out of this place. It’s only been a few hours and he just wants to go home.

«Cale-nim, they’re here.»

Cale’s eyes lit. «Tell them to come in.» Once he said that, the doors opened and Cale made sure that his chains were visible so that they could atleast have some pity in him and take him back home.

Three figures came inside; Deruth Henituse, Violin Henituse, Basen Henituse. Lily was probably made to stay in the estate due to obvious reasons (the sight of her injured brother would make her cry, most probably).

Choi Han closed the door and Ron respectively bowed towards the duchy figures.

The mother and son pair wore stoic expressions, but Cale could feel worries beneath that mask. Deruth was running towards the bed in a frantic manner and a worried expressions.

«Cale! Are you okay, son?»

«Im fine, father. Most importantly-«

«Cale. It’s important to speak up when your in pain. It’s fine to show that side of yourself sometimes.» Violin cut him off. Cale frowned at this, wanting to tell them that he’s not in pain! He’s in the best condition he’s ever been!

«Hyung-nim.. are you sure your alright?»

«We’ll find out if we check ourselves! He’ll never tell us anything- that’s how he is!» Deruth spoke in an angry manner as he grabbed the his eldest son’s collar and unbuttoned his shirt.

«Wait- father?!» Cale was suprised by this rough action. They have never treated Cale this harshly before. He really did make everyone worry. That thought made him slightly guilty.

The three stopped bickering when they say Cale’s wound. The air dropped. Ron and Choi Han had some vicious aura coming out of them. They had seen the wound so many times, but it still scares them, that they could not protect him at that time.

Even Raon has some mana coming out of him!

«Cale..» Deruth lightly carressed the wound. A disgusting hole was there because of the dagger. It’s color was not even red, but a chocolaty black color which makes it look disgusting. It did not match Cale’s heavanly appearance.

Cale hissed because of the cold air going right his heart. Apparently his father took that as a sign of pain because he lightly touched it.

«I knew it.. Your always hiding your pain.»

«Father, I’m really-«

«No more words, Cale Henituse.» Cale tightnened his lips as his full name was being called.

There he goes again. He doesn’t know his limits. That’s why their forced to go through such lengths. Talking never helps either, so this was their last option.

Ah, right. Cale has to convince them to let him go back home.

«Cale.. be a good boy, okay?» Is he being disowned or something?

Cale held a confused expression at his father’s words. Somehow he felt shivers in his spine when he saw his father’s dark eyes. What the hell was this terrible feeling in his bones? No seriously, what the hell happened to everyone?!

Deruth patted his head (Yes, the flower crowns are still on his head), leaving Cale more confused. But this was not it! He had to convince them to-

«Darling, why don’t we let him rest first then visit him again?» There will be an again?!

«Hyung-nim, I’ll bring some more books for you so you won’t get bored.»

Cale stayed silent due to disbelief. He’s going to be released in a few days time anyways, so why did they make it seem like he’s staying here for a long time? Also, Duke Deruth agreed to this?! What the hell is this sorcery?

«We’ll be back. So behave.»

«Don’t worry, Duke-nim. I’ll watch over the young master for you.» Okay, what?

Not only did the duke did not say anything to Cale being chained up like this, but he’s acting as if this was necessary? God, he really did it this time. It really was all his fault. But..

How long is he going to stay here again?

This time the only peope in this room, or beasts in this room, were the children, whispering as if they’re gossiping about something and literally just being children. They were playing around in the covers and often than not copying Cale’s actions as he dozed off.

But obviously, he’s not going to let a good talk with his children like this go to waste.

«Kids.» At their mention, the kids stop playing and came to Cale.

«What do you want human?»

Cale showed his chains. If it’s Raon, then he’ll definitely be able to get out of here. Also, he could convince them to let the others let him out. They are weak to the children after all.

«We can’t do that, nya..»

«We might get in trouble, nya..» The kittens had they ears laid flat as if they were guilty. Cale’s brow twitched. Can’t they just atleast think about it for a little?

«D-Don’t look at me!» The dragon turned invisible right then and there. Cale once again sighed at this.

He’ll just endure this for a few more days.

«Atleast tell me, how long have I been here? There’s no clock whatsoever.»

The others let him keep his stuff, which included his golden plaque, money, jewels. The only thing that was not in his spatial bag was the top whip, the divine items and the broken dominating crown.

All items that could have been used for fighting was taken out. Leaving only the money behind. The others probably thought that it was okay, since money was one of the things Cale liked, even though he couldn’t spend it anywhere.

«Can we really tell that? Will we get in trouble?» They really told the children not to tell them how long he’s been here? Okay, that’s too far. But he’ll excuse it, since it was his fault they are like this.

«Hah. You won’t get in trouble if no one knows. I taught you guys not to snitch on each other, right?» With a little bit of coaxing, they finally agreed.

Raon appeared again. «Human, you have been here for 1 day, 3 hours and 24 seconds!»

«Really? Thank you, Raon.» Cale patted the flying dragon on his head as his lips twitched up.

If Cale stays here for a week, then it would only be 6 days left til he’s released. He’s going to buy a new villa, so that he and the kids could rest there whenever they want, in case they get bored of staying at the usual place.

«No problem, human!» Raon fluttered his wings.

Raon was the one who proposed to Cale being locked up like this. He felt bad that his human won’t ever be free again, because his human was the one who taught him how to be free in the first place.

He knows he’s wrong.

The human will get angry.

They kept him chained up like how the dragon was before he was rescued by Cale.

But this is different.

There is no torture, no pain, and no suffering. This is for the health of his human. The human will always be taken care of. The human will now only pay attention to them. The human belonged to them completely now.

His human will be safe. His human will be happy. There was no other choice, they will make him happy whether he likes it or not. They agreed to never give Cale a choice anymore.

This is different from when he was tortured back at Venion Stan’s estate. This was for his own good.

And, it’s not like they will put Cale in that room forever. They know how suffocating it would be. So they agreed that once Cale is settled and safe, they would allow him out once every 2 weeks.

His human would be so happy to hear that he could go out, though- it will only be in the garden that they made for him.

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Summary:

He needs a damn break away from those lunatics.

Chapter Text

It’s been two weeks since that day, and three weeks since he’s been stuck in this room, unable to see the sunlight. He wasn’t given any rights, they decide almost everything for him and he was treated as if he was glass that could break any minute.

His heart was healing (albeit slowly), and this was what he was going for. All he has to do is to be patient, and then the oppurtunity will come by itself.

He tried to convince everyone that this was wrong, but they all seem adamant on keeping him confined in here.

He was forced to realize how insane everyone has gotten over the past 2 years.

Still, he doesn’t understand the reason why he’s here yet. Why couldn’t it be someone else? Why him? Why does it need to be him that’s stuck here? He’s trash.

Trash doesn’t need to be protected, it can do anything it wants, and no one can do anything about it.

The smell of the flowers in his room is starting to feel sickening, the music box was starting to get repititive, the toys weren’t fun after a while and the books were starting to get boring.

He needs the sun.

Not Alberu, but literally the sun.

If he knew he would be stuck here and couldn’t do anything about it, he would’ve cherished the sun and the moon a little longer.

The noise and talking of the children about their adventure filled the room. They went outside and play, but Cale can’t. It almost made him feel jealous. No, he is jealous.

He should have been able to go out too.

Why is he stuck here?

«We went out and played hide and seek with each other, then we pluck some flowers for you, human!» Hearing them talk like that.. is it their intention to make him purposely jealous?!

Cale didn’t say anything. He just quitely listenly to the dragon chatting, and the cats nodding with what he has to say.

«Hoho. Raon-nim, I’m sure the young master would love to hear what you did today, but it’s time for him to eat dinner.»

«Oh! That’s right! It’s important for the human to eat to be healthy!»

He’s barely living though..

«I don’t want to eat.» His voice echoed to the room, and the butler smiled gently. Ron was getting used to this puppy’s disobedient antics.

Even his threats weren’t getting to him anymore. It was a relief that the puppy still drinks his lemon tea.

However, this cannot go on.

«I won’t eat until you let me out.» This puppy is getting braver by the day.

Cale doesn’t care if he’s acting childish by not wanting to eat. But what else would a prisoner act like? A prisoner wouldn’t agree on everything the captor says

If we’re talking about who is the most troublesome in this escape plan, it was actually the children. They slept with Cale, and the kittens are trained by a high-level assassin. They would no doubt know when Cale would leave the bed, even if they were asleep. Their sense had already improved that much since the end of war.

Not to mention, it does feel like Choi Han has gotten stronger, and Alberu was also receiving training from him.

The children already used to Cale’s disobedience, shook their head and sighed. They really didn’t want to do this all the time, but Cale just won’t take care of himself. They really have to do everything for him.

Ron had to force-feed Cale again for the third time that week.

It’s not strange to say that he sleeps for atleast 16 hours everyday, since he has nothing to do.

«He seems to be sleeping everytime I come here.» Alberu’s soft hues gazed at the red-head on the bed snoozing.

«It’s because the human has nothing to do! He seems bored, so I feel kinda bad..»

«We should get him more toys, nya!»

«He gets tired of them easily, so we need more toys to prolong it, nya!»

Alberu patted the silent red-head on his head, humming to the suggestion of the children to keep him entertained. He brought some paperwork here, hoping to work on them while conversing with his brother, but it seems that he’s asleep.

Cale can’t do anything anymore, and he has no choice but to obey their wills (even though he’s forced to). Although he’s still a bit wary on how Cale would plan his ‘grand escape’, he was assured because of the chains that were restraining him.

They even made a much stronger, thinner and more comfortable chain to keep Cale still if this one were to break, so they were relieved that their hero wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

They were even willing to shatter the hero’s heart again and again then piece them back together lovingly.

Alberu’s eyes sharpened. His brother was so disobedient. Was this his way of telling them that he does not like this? Well, it doesn’t matter. His heart will warm up to them.

How about some training? No. They don’t want Cale hurt.

If his obedience does get out of hand-

«What are you doing here?» Cale glared at the person who was staring at him in his sleep. Guess imprisonment really does make you go crazy. Cale is probably the only one in the continent to speak at such a rude tone to the crown prince, who soon would ascend to king and might even become the next emperor.

«Your awake, dongsaeng.» Alberu smiled.

«I woke up because of your shining presence-«

«I came here because I missed you. Do you wanna play with me? I heard you learned how to play some board games during your stay here.»

This guy has someone informing him about what he does?! Who is it?!

Cale snorted. «What am I? Five? I’m not going to play with you. How about letting me go out?» Once again, he tried even though he knew the answer already.

«I’ll buy you some more toys so you won’t get bored.»

Cale sighed, sitting up and brushing his hair so that it would atleast look decent.

«Also, it’s not good to sleep all the time.»

«Maybe if you let me go outside, I’ll sleep less.»

Cale retorted, grabbing a glass of water on the bedside table, which was placed by Ron, incase he’s not there to give him lemon tea then drank the whole thing. Even water was fine, because it was not lemon tea.

Cale just realized that the children went out to help Ron deal with some business back in the eastern continent, because he heard some mumblings about the inn or something.

They were alone. Except for that Choi Han there standing guard. How annoying.

«Won’t you give up and be good already? We really don’t want to force you to eat everytime.»

«You guys are mentally ill. Want me to recommend a good psychiatrist?»

«Cale, this is for your own good-«

The crown prince couldn’t even finish his words before the glass was thrown at him, he swiftly avoided it with his skills. Cale was looking at him with glaring eyes, if only eyes could kill. He could hear the sound of glass breaking in the background.

«Do you know how many times I heard you guys say that this was for my own good? How! Tell me, just how is this good for me? I don’t even know the exact time, no one would tell me! I can’t live like this, hyung!»

Cale gritted his teeth in anger, already fed up with all the things he had gone through these past few weeks.

«Calm down, Cale. Are you hurt?»

«No! Why won’t you listen to me when I need you to listen the most?» Another pillow was thrown at him, though it missed.

«Cale, you’ll hurt yourself if you keep on being angry. Calm down.» Alberu’s words came out enigmatic, as if theres a warning behind it. The blonde grabbed the younger’s wrist, hoping to calm him down, but he thrashed around more, literally just wanting to atleast slap this maniac before he gets in trouble.

«Your highness.» Choi Han came to the two. The raven-haired male slowly pressed the shoulder of the hero down, making him lay on the bed.

«Cale-nim, you might get too stressed out and faint. Please, calm down.» This little- Too stressed out and faint?! No one would faint just from stress! Just how weak do they think his body is?!

In the end, Cale had to calm down, since he knew he couldn’t do anything.

As he layed there, simply pissed off at everything, and glaring at the poor ceiling or anything his eyes layed on, Alberu sighed.

«You must be pretty bored. I’ll have to make some orders.»

«I do not need anything. I don’t want anything unless it’s the way out to the door.»

The door that Choi Han always stand beside, guarding it. The door that at the first week seemed like a no biggie, was now just the most annoying thing in this room after the chains.

It’s as if the door was mocking him. He could see the door, but he couldn’t even touched it. It’s was irritating as hell.

Is that door like some type of boss from a game or something? Not seeing the sun for weeks really made him go a little bit coo-coo.

He doesn’t want anything to do with these lunatics anymore. He’s just tired, and even though three weeks didn’t seem long, it felt like he has been here for 3 years. What he needs is a break.

He keeps on seeing their faces everytime he wakes up, and voices would always be heard. He doesn’t have a say in anything he does, hell even going to the bathroom is a privilledge!

He couldn’t wait for the day he escapes.

Cale hold his family dear to him. They are his family, but their actions have been going a little too far. He can’t tolerate their behavior any longer. He’s going insane.

He misses the nature like a madman.

And he wonders if the others knew about this.

Did the whales agree to this? If so, why? What about Marquis Taylor, or Death Priestess Cage? The tigers? Why isn’t anyone helping him?

He half-expected the God of Death sending Cage in and helping him escape. But he wasn’t desperate enough to accept that bastard’s help.

«Cale, be good, okay? I still have work to do, so i’ll do it here.»

«You don’t have to do it here, you know.»

«I’ll get started anyways

» The older pat his brother on the head.

If Cale could, he would yeet the annoying blonde out of the room, but he doesn’t have a choice, does he? Guess he’ll just go back to sleep-

Before Cale could cover himself with his blankets, Choi Han pulled them away, making Cale glare at him.

With a smile, Choi Han said, «Cale-nim, it’s not good to sleep too much.»

«Dongsaeng, come here and watch me work.»

«It’s too boring. I don’t want to.»

In the end, he was carried and forced to sit beside the blonde jerk.

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Summary:

Money really is the best. Roses so that the human wont be sad.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Cale held the golden plague he recently just got from Ron with a smile. Money really is the best, huh? It’s really the only thing he could trust, other than his comrades, of course.

Cale’s smile came to a halt when he gazed at Choi Han standing there with a scary expression, for no reason at all. His hand still on his scabbard for god knows why. He got intel that his parents would be a little late due to some inconveniences. Oh, well. Nothing he could do about them being late.

«How about you come and sit down? I’m not going anywhere.» Atleast until these chains are off. How long has it been since he’s been here? There’s no clock or window. And since the war is over, his guard is down, so he didn’t count the time. It feels like he’s been here for a good couple of hours.

«No, Cale-nim. I have to protect you.» Cale stayed silent for a while. Was there something he was not getting? Or is it just him?

«Where are the kids?» Choi Han’s lips curved up at the question. It seems that Choi Han misunderstood Cale’s question, because Cale was terrified of Choi Han and didn’t want to be alone with him, even if he was his friend’s uncle.

«Don’t worry, Cale-nim. They have eaten and are currently doing some training. Raon is with Eruhaben-nim and the cats are with Ron.»

Cale hummed, putting down his precious golden plaque on his covers and laid back. Now that he thinks about it.. he’s kinda bored.

Well, his speciality is staring off into nothing anyways, so he might as well do that.

Back in the villa, he used to sit infront of the window and relax there. It’s weird that there is no sunlight at all, almost ominous even.

«Yes, Cale-nim? Is there anything you want?»

There is a difference between anything you want and anything you need. If Cale had read the lines he would’ve understood that. But he was a dense man in this type of stuff and the author wants Cale to not know a little longer.

Anything you want, is a bargain for staying here.

Anything you need isn’t included, because Cale already has everything he needed. Including his slacker life. So there isn’t anything he needed.

«Hm. How about some books?» Since it seems like he’s going to stay here for a while, might as well read a few things here and there.

They didn’t say anything before when Cale literally just spaced out for hours, now that Cale was bored out of his mind, he needed some entertainment. He’s going to be stuck here for an extremely long time, after all.

«Okay! I’ll ask His Highness for it!»

Why do you need to ask him for permission to read some books?

Cale held his temple in stress. Choi Han told him that he’ll be back in a few minutes, and told Cale to not move at all. Cale thought that they might be a little bit more traumatized than he thought. Well, the red-head understands. This was all his fault. So he’ll take responsibility for it. He’ll stay here for a few days and then go back home.

He’ll probably get grounded for life if he goes back home, but oh well, he can always talk his way out of it.

*Not this time though.*

Cale stood up from his bed, even though Choi Han told him to stay still when he left. He glared at the chains that held his wrist, tugging on them and frowning when its secured and seems like it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

He slowly walked towards the door, with everystep, his heart, for no reason at all, beat quite fast. Well, his broken heart, if you say so, because he literally has a hole in his heart. He saw the hole and how disgusting it looked. It would’ve already healed in a few days if he had his vitality of the heart, but it seems like it would take months before it made a full recovery.

He finally stopped when his chains tugged his wrist. As if telling him, ‘This is your limit. You cant go anywhere beyond this’. Cale sighed, feeling frustrated. He didn’t think that he would actually feel frustrated locked up like this.

Isn’t this what he wanted? A slacker life like this?

Well, being locked up like this was not really the slacker life he planned, but it was similar. Honestly, he felt like a bird in a gilded cage, not allowed to go out like this.

No matter how many tugs he pulled the chains wont come off, at least not with his strength, which was equivilant to an 8 years old.

He tried to activate his wind powers. But whenever he tried to activate his powers, the cuffs of the chain glowed an ugly blue, repressing him from using his powers. Cale gritted his teeth, missing the sounds in his head.

If Cale could still hear them, then they would probably give him some advice on how to leave this place or on how he should react.

He could hear the sky eating water cussing, on how unfair it was and how they took away his freedom. But Cale, atleast right now, didn’t care. He’ll be let out soon enough later.

The red-head sighed, giving the chains one last hard tug, his wrist bruised from the impact and headed towards his bed, so that the raven-head swordsman won’t scold him.

After a few seconds, the door opened again. It was Choi Han and Lock. They both held alot of books in their hands. They settled the book on the bedside table.

«Cale-nim, is this enough? If it’s not, we can get you more?» Choi Han offered.

«This is alright. Thanks.» Cale said, picking up a book from very top.

Atleast this book would help him keep his mind calm for a little bit.

«Y-young master Cale.. Is there anything else you want?» Lock still seems the same as usual. Shy and always fidgeting, avoiding eye contact, looking a bit guilty? for some reason.

Cale sighed again for like the tenth time today. «I told you when talking to someone, always make eye contact.» Cale scolded, opening the book and flipping through the pages.

«Y-yes!» Choi Han smiled at the interaction. Cale is the same. Even now, when he’s locked up like this. Well, it seems that Cale himself doesn’t know that he’s permenantly locked up like this, but well, when the time comes, he would learn.

When Cale saw his smile, he shivered.

The red-head cleared his throat. «When is father and mother coming?»

«Ah, right! They will be here soon. They were busy dealing with the aftermath of everything.»

Mm. As expected. Being the Duke is very hard. Cale almost feel bad for his parents. After all, he’s going to relax and play around when his family is going to work like hell in the future.

«By the way, this place is his highness’ palace?»

«Yes, Cale-nim. He got permission from the duke to lo- I mean to put you here.» Choi Han really can lie when he’s not trying.

Hm.. permission? Damn. Cale imagined how hard his hyung tried to convince his father to let him stay here for his recovery. Must’ve taken ages.

Cale’s eyes would burst wide if he knew that the Duke agreed so easily.

«Alright. Choi Han, get me some snacks.»

Choi Han glanced at Lock and the wolf-boy nodded diligently and walked out of the door. The action seemed practiced, Cale once again felt weird. And whenever he has a weird feeling, it does not end up pretty.

«Is there anything else you want, Cale-nim?» Will they really get him anything he wants?

Cale smiled and showed his chained hands. «How about you breaking this monstrous chains?» Choi Han smiled wryly.

«Im sorry, Cale-nim. I can’t do that.» Cale put his hands down and sighed.

«It’s okay. His highness must’ve ordered you not to.»

Well, a man can hope right? If Choi Han did what Cale wanted, then he might get released early, and he would have those annoying voices back in his mind. Not that he hated it though.

It was in the evening, and the children were out playing- I mean, training.

«Too bad that Cale can’t go out anymore, nya!»

«Yeah, he will miss the sunlight, nya!»

«How about we give the human some flowers? We can give him alot of things so he won’t miss the outside world anymore!»

«As expected, our youngest is the smartest, nya

«Let’s pick some flowers for our human. That’s fine right, lemonade gramps, goldie gramps?»

«HoHo. The young master would love the flowers that you would give him.»

«Hah.. do whatever you want.»

Eruhaben looked at the place where Cale is locked up. He does feel a little bad, but if the dragon could stay in his lair for more than a hundred years, then Cale could also stay put there safe and sound for the rest of his life.

They would give him lots of toys to make sure he’s not bored. They would finally make sure he would take care of himself. They could also take this oppurtunity to get to know him better, chip down his walls he built up slowly and make their way to his heart.

‘Maybe I should make that unlucky bastard something?’ Eruhaben thought. Cale was his child. To him, Cale was a small kid, who doesn’t know how to take care of himself and needed someone to do it for him.

Eruhaben technically contributed the most, despite asking the most questions about this containment.

The ancient dragon made the monitoring device to be put inside of Cale’s room, and also the chains that held him down.

He felt guilty that he’s actually the one allowing all this to happen. But at the same time, a part of him felt relieved. Cale would always stay in one place and wont get himself hurt. It made it easier to take care of him.

This was the right decision.

This has to be the right decision.

If they let the man roam free, he would get himself killed. They’ve experienced it many times already. It was enough to make them go crazy.

Was it actually because they wanted him safe, or because of their selfishness that they locked the man up like some type of exotic bird?

«Red roses, like my human’s hair!» Raon hummed picking lots of flowers that catched his eyes.

Chapter Text

It has been five days, almost a week since Cale has stayed in this place chained up. He has never been lonely here, because he was constantly with someone every second.

It was like this before too, but the difference is, the red-head is stuck here, he can’t move to a different room, he can’t go outside, and the only form of privacy he has is in the bathroom, and even then, Ron, always stood outside the door, incase anything happens, always alert even if it’s only a bar of soap that fell.

The children were with him, sleeping on his bed at night. Choi Han is always guarding the door, only letting it open when someone was coming in. Even Eruhaben sometimes just chill in the couch reading a book and sometimes glancing his reptile eyes at Cale.

Cale didn’t say anything.

He doesn’t deserve to say anything after all the pain he’s caused to his family. This was his fault, after all. Another reason why, was because he won’t be here any longer. In a few days, he’ll go ahead and spend all his money he earned during the war.

He’s going to live a proper life as a wealthy slacker.

‘Of course, the children will be there with me. I have to make sure they sleep on time, and also take care of their studies.. I can’t leave them to Ron. Maybe mother?’

His heart was still in the process of healing, and it still looked disgusting as ever. If only he had the vitality of the heart, he would heal in an instant.

His room was decorated with flowers everywhere, since the children thought that he seemed to like the smell and looks. Books were placed on numerous bookshelves, courtesy of the crown prince since Cale would be bored staying here.

His father and mother visited him, they assured Cale that they will be back again since there was some things to be taken care of. But the hero didn’t get it. Again? Why again? He’s going to be released in a few days. Why do something so bothersome as that?

As expected, the Henituse couple really cares about their child.

He has gotten many things in these past few days. He’s not a kid, but the children and even the others seemed to think of him as a 10-year-old needing care and attention.

Thus, he has a huge teddy bear in the corner, puzzles, jigsaw, quizzes and boardgames that he plays with the children. He thought nothing of it, since he thought that it was only a way of keeping him entertained for his temporary stay here.

He can sleep in however late he wants. He gets food everytime he wakes up. He gets taken care of properly. But this all is just..

‘Don’t tell me they will continue to treat me like this even when I’m out of this place?’ Cale shivered being treated like some small kid. He’ll have to make sure to talk to Ron properly to give him the treatment he had before all this. Things like this are not his type.

He doesn’t deserve all this attention. He is trash, after all.

But they wouldn’t even give him a minute of an alone time. Atleast his ancient powers know when to shut up when they need to. It feels weird when he’s starting to get annoyed at his family, whom he dearly cherished.

Cale moved his chess piece, hitting the opposite sides piece. His hair was half-tied up, and he still has his stoic face on as he played chess with Rosalyn, who came to check up on him.

«Your really good at this, Young Master Cale.» Rosalyn complimented with her usual friendly smile as she moved her rookie to avoid it being taken down.

«Is that so?» Cale replied, taking the bishop with his pawn.

«Ah! No! My bishop!»

«Miss Rosalyn, if I may be honest, you’re the third person whose ever gone this far with me in chess.»

«Young master plays chess all the time?»

«No. I just recently learned how to play it.» He played it with the other 3 children yesterday. Only Raon had gone far with his queen, and Eruhaben, who’s good at everything (maybe he just let the red-head win, since he still felt guilty). He has nothing to do anyways, why not learn how to play some games?

Rosalyn snickered. She heard that Cale had only learnt how to play this yesterday. As expected of their talented Young Master, he’s truly talented in many ways.

«Play with me next, human! I’ll beat you this time!»

«Yes, yes.» He responded, patting the dragon’s round head.

The kittens were just chilling on his lap as he played the game with Rosalyn.

They tried to make the room as homey as possible, so that Cale would feel more comfortable here, since this will be his new home from now on.

«Oh, the food is here!» Hong jumped down from Cale’s lap as his older sister followed his brother. Is it steak again? He’s kinda getting tired of it.

He sipped the lemonade from the cup and then put it down when it’s empty, then he stood up and went to the bed and laid down.

«I’m not hungry yet. Let the children eat first. I’m going to bed.» Ron frowned at this, but followed his orders. He’ll have to make sure his puppy young master eats after an hour. He won’t let Cale starve any longer like last time.

It must be about dinner time right now. Tomorrow is the sixth day, and if there’s no sign of being released soon, he’ll ask the others about it. Maybe.. they just forgot the date? It’s been 5 days, and its enough recovery and it was okay to go back home to complete his full recovery.

He has to talk to his highness soon.

But why does he feel like something bad is about to happen?

«Young Master Cale is getting agitated.» Rosalyn sipped her tea as she sat infront of the crown prince with a serious expression.

«Is that so? He’ll find out about our plans soon.»

«He’s going to refute, Your Highness. What are we gonna do if he refuses this treatment?»

Alberu smirked, biting down on the cookie from the jar. «Do you think he’s in a position to refuse? Of course, he’s my brother. I don’t want to be too mean to him. He’s given me a bundle of headaches, but I still love him.»

Rosalyn stayed silent at his confession. The blonde then continued, «We’ll give him some time to think alone. He’ll understand that we’re doing this for his sake. My dongsaeng won’t be going anywhere out of this haven.»

Not too much time though. His brother is the smartest person he’s ever met. Who knows what he’s thinking about if he learned about this.

Cale is smart, too smart for his own good. But Alberu, was also smart. People said that their personalities were both similar as if they were twins, and it’s true. They are like a pair of socks. But Alberu has the most advantage because the majority (specifically, ehem, all of them) of Cale’s party agreed to do this to him.

You shouldn’t underestimate the crown.

«Only an hour of silence? That’s cruel, your highness.»

«Who knows what that bastard will be planning in an hour- no, even 10 minutes! We have to watch him so that he won’t get any ideas.»

Cale is someone who’s always brewing up plans in his mind. That’s how he’s always been during war, and that’s how he’ll always be. Leaving him for too long by himself might be dangerous, even though Cale is locked up like that. They have to be cautious in order to keep him still.

This is now more of a battle of minds instead of actions (though Cale doesn’t know about this battle at all, yet). And Alberu is determined to take control of his lovely dongsaeng just to keep him safe.

«I’ll see my lovely dongsaeng tomorrow.»

In his soft and comfy bed, a certain red-head beauty sneezed.

«Ah.. I wanna go out.» Cale mumbled loud enough for everyone in the room to hear. But no one said anything, even the kids. They all continued doing whatever as if he hadn’t said a thing.

Cale frowned at this.

He grabbed the handle of the fork and ate the meat instantly, swallowing it then standing up. He turned around only to meet Ron’s benign face.

«Hoho.. Young Master, you still have half of the steak on your plate. Is it not to your taste? Should I get you another dish?» Cale calmed down his (holed) heart from beating too fast.

«The food is fine. I just don’t have an appetite.» Eruhaben raised a brow at this and Choi Han quietly observed the scene.

«So you want to starve yourself again, like that time?» Ron laughed, it sends shivers down his spine. Even when he’s eating, he’s constantly being watched. They didn’t even try to hide it anymore. Their gazes stuck on him, never leaving his figure. It was creepy to say the least.

In the background, Beacrox could be seen, his eyes aflame, as if daring him to leave food on his plate.

«What again? I’m not starving myself. I’m just not hungry.» Cale refuted, which was unlike his usual self. He would’ve listened to the old man once the butler used that laugh on him. But Cale’s probably feeling a little bit brave today, that was why he refuted-

«Do I have to feed the Young Master again like in the old days?»

«Nevermind, I’m going back to eat..» Cale shuddered.

‘Assassins are scary..’ The frail man thought.

«Can’t you leave me alone? I’m just going to go to bed.»

«Cale-nim, we can stay until you fall asleep.» No, he doesn’t want you to.

«Young Master-nim, doesn’t this bring back the old days when I used to accompany you to sleep because you were scared.»

Cale felt frustrated at these annoying flies who won’t leave him alone. The children was fine, because they have always been sleeping with him since the start, and also, BECAUSE THEY ARE CHILDREN.

«Look, if your worried about me, I’m not going anywhere. The kid’s are sleeping with me remember?»

He didn’t know when they started to act like flies attracted to rot, but he wanted their clingy ass to just leave him alone. Seriously, why isn’t the children saying anything about this? Hell, they are even encouraging it!

«If you want to sleep with us, then that’s fine too, nya!» No! Stop it!

«But 3 people is already enough in this room. Please rest, and I’ll see you the next day.»

«Cale-nim, I can take the corner!» No.

«Strong Choi Han, that would be uncomfortable. We don’t mind sharing the bed.»

«There is no bed sharing between adults.» Ron’s eyes flashed dangerously, leaking out a muderous aura.

«E-ehem. Anyways. You can just use the couch.» Stop encouraging them, please!!

«Choi Han, you’ve been standing there all day. It must be hard. It would be more comfortable for you to rest in your room.»

«No, Cale-nim. If I can’t do this, then I’m not strong-«

«People needs rests too. Even you.» Cale crossed his arms and tilted his head as if scolding him. In reality, he just wants to sleep because he’s tired and he can’t do that if they are going to constantly watch him. Plus, he does feel a little bad. All he does is just lay in bed while Choi Han stands there like a manequin.

«Cale-nim..» As expected of Cale-nim. He still cares about other people.

«Still, I think I should-«

This conversation went on for one and a half hour before Cale finally managed to convince them to go back.

Chapter Text

«Cale-nim, I’ll be back soon, so don’t even take a single step out of the bed. Lock will bring you food and the kittens will stay with you. Your feet must absolutely not touch the gr-«

Cale pushed his hand towards his knight’s face as if telling him to stop.

«I don’t even plan on moving an inch unless I use the toilet. You don’t have to worry, Choi Han. Just go and have fun.»

Choi Han was in awe of his leige who wanted him to have fun instead of guarding him. However he still prefers to watch over Cale rather than having fun because wherever Cale was is wherever fun is.

As expected of Cale-nim. He really is the most thoughtful person Choi Han has ever met.

Contrary to Choi Han’s thought, Cale actually wanted to shoo him away as quick as possible so that he could go go the main part of the plan.

The red-head tried his best to calm his beating heart (which is very unlike him to be nervous). He was scared that with their inhumane hearing senses, they might be able to hear his poor heart running.

First he needs to make sure the core people were out of the room. While making sure he didn’t make the others suspicious. It was taking Choi Han a while to scoot out of the room, but he’ll manage.

Hm.. Why does it take so much effort just to look at the blue sky?

In the corner of the room, the observant silver kitten watched as the red-head tried to shoo his knight away from the room in silence. Her golden orbs following every expression on his face.

She shook her head and sighed after looking at her guardian’s stoic expression. Surely not right? He’s been good these past few weeks. Hopefully he won’t be dumb enough to try anything while the others are gone.

They’re not weak, definitely. Even though she and her brother are still in training, she and her brother is just below Ron’s level and above Beacrox in senses.

Even if Cale does try something, she was confident that they would be able to stop it using paralysis without hurting him.

Yes. There is no way that their Cale could leave. He can’t leave. He can’t go beyond those doors, he has to stay inside.

«On, could I get a glass of water?» Cale looked down at the kitten with soft and unnoticeably sad eyes which made her confused.

So he really still does care about them? Is he warming up to them? She’s not in a position to complain if he is.

On, the eldest of the three children slowly nodded her head before moving to leave to the kitchen to get what Cale wants, leaving Cale to Hong’s care.

Choi Han gazed at Cale with soft eyes before sighing. «I understand, Cale-nim.» He said, defeated. He really doesn’t want to go. He wants to protect his leige. But if his leige insists then what can he do? It doesn’t involve him getting hurt anyways, and the kittens were strong. There was also the heir of the wolf king guarding the door in place of him.

Perhaps he could spend some time on an insignificant ceremony perhaps.

Cale patter Choi Han’s shoulder before laying down in bed and pretending to go back to sleep. Choi Han spared another last glance at his leige before reluctantly leaving the room.

Of course, since this is some sort of important event, they all are dressed up nicely.

«Then, I will be back soon.» Choi Han proclaimed leaving Cale to lazily wave off a goodbye.

Hong was in the corner of the room, doing whatever he’s doing, while sometimes glancing at Cale, just incase the red-head tried to do anything. Lock was standing in place of Choi Han, temporarily replacing him.

But Cale Henituse was not afraid of mere beasts.

Choi Han and Ron was a much more troublesome obstacle. Eruhaben and Raon was even more.

It made Cale conflicted. Does he hate them now? Well, he does feel some sort of rage everytime he looks at them, but is it really to the point that he despise them?

He does want to get back at them though.. but anyways, leaving this place comes first.

Covering himself with the silk blanket that they provided, he observed the chains for the millionth times he’s been here. There was a few things he learnt after testing a few things out in the bathroom.

The bathroom where he got a few minutes of privacy. He manipulated their hearing senses by dropping a bunch of stuff and turning the tap on to the max, all while experimenting on the chains.

Of course, he did think whether or not he was being obvious about it, but fortunately, they all seem to think that he was still in his ‘rebellious’ phase.

For once, he’s grateful for their delusional state.

If he tried to exert a bit of power (actually a decent amount of power), for example, the wind, a spurt of wind did come out, though extremely weak, and the writings on the chains glowed blue (They didn’t know because the ancient runes were only on the cuffs).

His powers have gotten exceedingly strong, and if he dared to say, it was stronger than a dragon, which super rock has graciously informed him so.

And if he just exert himself a bit more.. Push himself beyond the limits and use instant? What will happen? He doesn’t know if he’ll break or lose all the blood in his body, but it’s worth a try. Anyways, once he gets the cuffs out, the vitality of the heart will do it’s thing and make more new blood vessels for him anyways.

Thinking about finally being able to use his powers gave Cale some unknown foreign but so familiar flutters in his heart. He missed them. He wants to talk to them. He would never admit it, but he’s actually been dependent on them ever since he came to this damned world. And now that their gone, it’s just not right, even though it has been months, he still can’t get used to his empty head.

However, the timing must be right. All so that he could have a party in his head again.

He cannot mess this up.

This is possible, it’s possible. As long as there is a chance.

A smile curved up on his face, a smile that he hasn’t done in a few months, and a feeling that he missed ever since he’s been stuck here appeared.

‘Might as well ruin my dear hyung’s ceremony while I’m at it anyways.’

Shouldn’t they be glad that this is all he’s doing?

«Cale? Your water.»

Cale’s smiling face turned stoic after hearing On’s voice, his face still buried in the covers. He slowly lift the covers showing his handsome face.

«Thanks.» Cale replied, grabbing the cup from her delicate small hands.
