How Long Resident Evil 2 Is
The Resident Evil 2 Remake delves back into the horrors of Raccoon City with a few new surprises waiting around every corner. Unlike the original game, fans are in for a much longer ride this time around. Here’s how long it takes to beat Resident Evil 2 for the PS4.
The original game was split into different sides, letting players experience the horror from both Leon and Claire’s perspective. Completing the main story would take you a little more than five hours, or around eight if you completed the other modes.
Resident Evil 2 for the PS4, however, offers a much longer playtime from the main story alone. During a recent interview, game director Kazunori Kadoi and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed that it should take around 10 hours to beat each character’s story.
Since there are two main characters, Leon and Claire, the PS4 remake should total to about 20 hours in total. That’s about more than half of the original game’s play time, and not even counting the 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor modes unlocked after the main campaign.
During our first playthrough in the A scenario, it took us roughly six hours to complete. This was during Leon’s campaign alone, not counting Claire’s. Following this, subsequent A and B scenarios took roughly four or so hours to complete each. Completing the A and B campaigns for Leon and Claire took us around 18 hours in total.
That said, Capcom had already decided to dump the zapping system mechanic found in the original Resident Evil 2. It’s also worth noting that the remake won’t share the exact same narrative as the original game. While they will follow the same structure, we can probably expect a few different events and some other mix-ups.
That pretty much covers how long Resident Evil 2 for the PS4 is. If you need a few tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our expansive wiki. We’ve got tons of other useful guides to help you survive Raccoon City.

i read an article they said will take 10 hours each character to complete this game?
Leon S. Kenedy : 10 hours
Claire : 10 hours
so 20 hours. is it true??
and how about Ada Wong?? 10 hours too??
30 hours?? LMAO XD
Sorry, all it takes is one source to mix s*it up. This one had popped on Google Newstand yesterday and said 5 hours each.
«As you may know, each character’s playthrough in Resident Evil 2 was about five hours. And so to see both playthroughs and every piece of content the game had, you had to put about 10 hours into the survival-horror classic. And despite a little bit of new content added to the remake, it will also take this long again, director Kazunori Kadoi confirmed at a recent special event for the game held in Dubai.»
10 hour kinda is short imo
Leon: 10 hours
Claire: 10 hours
Then you have some extra content.
Like the Hunk & Tofu time trial missions.

is everyone here suddenly a moron? there are two campaigns not three.
It won’t be an extra 10 hours for Ada. Ada is a part of Leon’s campaign, same as Sherry is part of Claire’s campaign. Both are said to be 10 hours each, plus however many hours you can squeeze out of the extra modes.
But this doesn’t mean much as real RE fans will get much more than 10 hours out of the game. Alien: Isolation is 10-20 hours long depending on difficulty and skill, but I got easily 40 hours out of my first playthrough just taking things slow and soaking up the atmosphere.
Is Google broken for you? They flat-out said 10 hours for each campaign.
Yeah that was real hard to find.

Actually, you can’t even generalize that.
First, the level of difficulty plays a role.
Then there are people who run only from A to B and only farm the action elements of a game. (Without speedrun)
There are people who try to collect, search or discover everything between A and B. (They need much more than 10h)
There are people who train various things and thereby dawdle.
There are people who can not play and need several attempts.
etc, etc.
btw: And you just complete a campaign run. that’s far far away from completing the game. far far far far away.
And if you really want to complete just the campaign, then you should read all the documents, simply because its a part of its story. (You see, i’m a collector, explorer and reader and i’ll never beat this game for the first time in just 10h)

I know that this game can be played as Leon or as Claire and that route A for Claire and Leon it’s the same with some small differences
All I want to know is from route A to B the story goes on? Or not?
It’s something like the third run on Nier Automata?
Part A can be done by moderate gamers in like 4-6 hours and by casual gamers in 6-8
Part B would be around 3-5 and 5-6.
When you know the game though you can bring the times down to under 3 hours for A and under 2 for B
each campaign is between 6-10 hours and thats if your speed running it
each campaign is between 6-10 hours and thats if your speed running it
Ummm. no. Considering to get S+ on A you need under 3 hours and B you need under 2. speed running at 6-10 hours is just. aweful.
So I am a bad gamer who gets lost in the game for 9 hours only in the part A
By the way I really appreciate the game, It’s the best horror game I’ve player so far
they never asked in regards to rank so stuff it

Leon’s route is chilled, in Clair this Trechcoat guy will appear very fast. Also I heared you can unlock Hunk after some runs, correct me if I am wrong.
Hunk is unlocked after Part B (2nd Run) is done.
Though I could have sworn Leon B gets trenchcoat guy fast too. I could be wrong though.

Resident Evil 2: How Long Does It Take to Beat?
This is about how long it will take players to complete an initial playthrough and all four scenarios of the recently released Resident Evil 2 remake.
Resident Evil 2, arguably the first big game release of 2019, is now available. However, it’s soon to be followed by Kingdom Hearts 3 on January 29, and one of the busiest Februaries in gaming history. Some gamers may be trying to decide how they’re going to manage their time with all the big releases coming up, and may be making a determination which titles to prioritize over others. Considering this, it may interest some fans how long it takes to beat Resident Evil 2, but the answer to that is somewhat complicated.
In our own testing, an initial playthrough of Resident Evil 2 as either Leon or Claire took about six hours. The following 2nd Run B scenario then took an additional six hours, so one full run of Resident Evil 2 will likely clock in between 12-15 hours, depending on skill level, difficulty, etc.
However, even after completing two runs of the game as Leon and Claire, there’s more to do in Resident Evil 2. In total, there are four «scenarios» that players can go through, Leon A, Leon B, Claire A, and Claire B. Completing Leon A unlocks Claire B, and completing Claire A unlocks Leon B. Luckily, if players manage to complete Leon A/Claire B or Claire A/Leon B, they will automatically unlock the remaining scenarios and can then jump around as they see fit.
So to fully see everything Resident Evil 2 has to offer in terms of story content, we estimate that it will take around 20 hours depending on skill level. After that, though, there’s still plenty of other things to do in the game, such as finding all of the collectible items, unlocking the achievements, and more.
Additionally, completing Leon A/Claire B or Claire A/Leon B will unlock The 4th Survivor bonus scenario, which stars Umbrella operative HUNK as the playable character. Completing HUNK’s scenario unlocks the Tofu Mode, giving Resident Evil 2 players even more to do after the credits roll and adding to the game’s replay value.
In the future, Resident Evil 2 fans can expect Capcom to expand on the game even further. Future DLC will add new costumes for Claire and Leon to wear, in addition to The Ghost Survivors game mode, which stars some new playable characters.
Resident Evil 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
