Overview
A Minion is a resource generator that is constantly active on Private Islands regardless of whether or not the island is loaded. To generate resources, Minions interact with the 5×5 area around them by placing and breaking blocks, or spawning and killing mobs. By default, you can only place up to 5 Minions on your Private Island at once, but this limit can be increased, as described below. In addition to generating resources, each Minion also gives Skill Experience. The level of a minion determines its storage capacity and its speed, both of which can also be modified by Minion Upgrades. Each new island starts with a tier 1 Cobblestone Minion.

The Minion Interface (see above) consists of 1 Minion Skin slot, 1 Minion Fuel slot, 1 Automated Shipping slot, 2 Minion Upgrade slots, and up to 15 storage slots. The chest icon on the bottom row can be clicked to pickup all resources stored inside the minion. The diamond icon can be used to upgrade the minion’s tier provided you have all the crafting materials in your inventory. The bedrock icon on the bottom right can be used to pickup the minion, converting it to item form, and picking up all items and upgrades stored inside.
Minion Slots
Minion Slots refer to the number of minions you can have placed on your Private Island at the same time, and are shared between you and your Co-op. By default, you can place 5, but this number can go up by 5 through purchases made in the Community Center, and more by unlocking unique minions. Each minion type and tier counts as a unique minion. For example, the Cobblestone Minion goes from tier I through XII, so you can unlock up to 12 unique minions from it. Below is a chart of how many unique minions you need to unlock a new minion slot.

The Crafted Minions menu (see below) can be accessed through the Collection Menu and displays all the unique minions you or your Co-op have crafted. The Redstone Torch icon on the bottom, named «Information», displays how many unique minions your profile has crafted, how many minion slots you have unlocked, and how many unique minions you have left until you unlock your next minion slot. With each new type of minion you unlock, one of the gray dye icons will be replaced with an icon of that minion type, with a list of each tier unlocked listed in green and each tier you have yet to unlock listed in red.

Minion Collection Experience
When collecting resources from Minions or their storage, you and your Co-op will be rewarded with Skill Experience. Skill Experience from Minions is affected by exp boosts. If your Co-op minions are collected while you are offline, you will receive the exp when you go back to your Private Island. In the charts above, the Skill Experience is the value given from 1 item collected.
Minion Upgrades
Minion Upgrades are items placed in the Minion on the yellow stained glass pane labeled ‘Upgrade Slot’. Two Minion Upgrades per Minion can be used at a time, and they usually affect how the Minion behaves in regard to range, speed, and items produced.
Minion Fuel
Minion Fuel items are items placed in the Minion on the orange stained glass pane labeled ‘Fuel’. Only one Minion Fuel per Minion can be used at a time, and they affect the Minion Speed or amount of items produced. Some Minion Fuels are consumables while others are permanent. Consumable Fuels can be stacked within the minion to last for longer, but cannot be taken out and will be deleted if clicked with an empty hand. Permanent Fuels can be taken out and replaced at any time.
Minion Storage
Minion Storage comes in the form of a chest that you place next to your minion for more resource storage. Only 1 Minion storage can be used per minion. The excess storage can be accessed by right-clicking on the Minion Chest, or by clicking ‘Collect All’ while inside the Minion GUI.
Item | Capacity | Obtaining |

3 stacks. | Oak Wood Collection IV
9 stacks. | Oak Wood Collection VII
15 stacks. | Oak Wood Collection IX

Automated Shipping
Automated Shipping items are placed in the Minion on the blue stained glass pane labeled ‘Automated Shipping’. Automated Shipping is used to sell excess items after the Minion has run out of storage. The prices for the items depend on the NPC sell price of the resource and the type of Automated Shipping used. Clicking on an Automated Shipping in the minion with Coins stored in it will put the Coins in your purse. Clicking again will take the item out of the Minion.

All Minions and a Guide to Them
If you haven’t heard of minions or don’t know what they are, minions are placeable items that farms items for you without you basically doing anything. There are currently 49 different minions that all farm different items. On your island, once you achieve all of the minion slots by crafting 550 unique minions, you can place 24 minions. You can also get an additional 5 slots from the community shop for a total of 29 minion slots max. You can upgrade any minion to tier 11 or tier XI. To craft a minion you need the item they produce and the wooden tool they use to harvest that item. Next to each minion I put to tool they use. At the very bottom of the page there is a few screenshots of the two pages of minions.

Game Designer
In this design thread we will talk about Collections and Minions.
Keep in mind 1.0 Design threads only have the objective to communicate our current plans and collect feedback from you.
What you will read below isn’t final and still subject to large changes.
Please fill the form at the end to provide feedback, and if you have a strong opinion about any subject, feel free to comment on this thread to engage in a conversation about it.
This isn’t necessarily a new discovery, as Collections were designed with that in mind, but it still holds true.
Example: The potato collection has Hot Potato Books, therefore players will always be consuming potatoes, and the collection will always remain active through the ages of SkyBlock.
Similarly, Super Compactors always require cobblestones to be gathered, because of the perpetual influx of new players needing them in every single minion.
Ideally every collection must have at least 1 recipe that will constantly require the community to collect that resource, perpetually fueling the economy.
2/ Slower learning curve
The current collection milestones often end at 100k resources obtained or even less. We thought this number would be large enough to give a proper progression and learning curve, but due to players constantly progressing in multiple collections at the same time when they start playing the game, they are overwhelmed with too many recipes unlocked every hour of gameplay and don’t have enough time to properly discover them all.
Overall the Collection Milestones should require more resources to unlock, to make the progression more smooth, without necessarily reaching points where the next step feels impossible to reach.
3/ Late game items are fine but should use late game drops in their recipes and have requirements.
When the game first released, some collection rewards were giving bad dilemmas to players, such as the Pigman Sword.
The Pigman Sword used to be the strongest or one of the strongest weapons for a few patches. But this sword, while being very expensive in terms of resources, didn’t require any gameplay to obtain, except placing minions. Any player would ask themselves: why would I play PvE content to obtain a weapon, when I can simply place minions and eventually obtain a similar weapon in strength?
This of course also touches another sensible issue within SkyBlock where there are often 10 different ways to obtain items similar in strength, but that topic will be engaged in a later thread.
So does that mean that having a late game item inside a collection automatically invalidates the rest of the active content in the game?
We believe the answer is no. Going back to the example of the Pigman Sword, that recipe would have been perfectly fine if it required some crafting items obtained through late game content on top of the current recipe, as long as the item also has proper requirements on it.
4/ Unused items need to be niche or useful
There is currently a plethora of collection items that do not see the light of play, sometimes because they are part of a progression that can be skipped, other times because they are outclassed by even cheaper or more easily accessible options, and even sometimes because they are completely useless in the current state of the game.
When going through the progression of the game, should players craft Hardened Diamond armor, Golem Armor, or any other early game option?
Why aren’t the Farming, Mushroom, Cactus, Pumpkin armors not providing any perks related to Farming?
And late game players, how often do you use collection items and recipes on a daily basis?
Collection recipes need to coexist with the rest of the content, and provide interesting choices through the progression and at every stage of the game. Each individual item should have a niche other than «because it’s funny that it exists», even if it’s as simple as «to be used until you can get better».
5/ Minions and collections should be balanced
The economy of SkyBlock is at its best when it is half stable and half volatile. It is fine if some minions constantly remain in the top 10 best, players shouldn’t have to constantly worry about changing their setup. However what isn’t fine is how large the gap is between the best and the worst minions can get.
Things get buffed or nerfed either directly or indirectly every update, prices go up and down, but some minions permanently remain terrible, and others always remain the best.
Something we are very interested to at least try, would be to dynamically update the NPC Sell price of minion resources every SkyBlock year based on the total coins influx. That sell price would eventually reach a cap either up or down to prevent dire situations. The price changes would be in very small amounts every year, slowly reaching appropriate ranges.
Collections should be carried by the actual usefulness of their resources, not by the money making qualities of their minions.
6/ It should be rewarding to diversify in unused collections.
No matter how much we try to improve the system, collections are not created equal, there will always be weaker minions and collections.
Some players like to diversify, and doing so they participate in collections that are far from meta.
Reaching specific milestones in any collection every SkyBlock year, even when all unlocks were already obtained, should reward players accordingly.
7/ Minions are giving too much Skill EXP
The main reason why minions still give Skill EXP, is because some skills aren’t fun to play for some players. Everyone has a least favorite Skill, and it is fine if players decide to cover that part of the game using minions.
However the Skill EXP rates from minions are far too high at the moment.
Going towards 1.0, minions will still provide Skill EXP, for the reason mentioned above, but much less than currently.
8/ Automated shipping slots need to be reworked.
The Automated Shipping slot, while surprisingly used a lot, still remains a waste of space.
Minion Hoppers should be permanent upgrades that you can apply to minions through an anvil. The slot could become a third Minion Upgrade, that is only unlocked after reaching minion tier 10, incentivizing players to rank the minions up.
9/ Fuels, and in general the overall minion speed is currently slightly too high.
Many minions are perfectly balanced, but the top end minions are currently generating resources slightly too fast.
On top of that, since release we added more and more powerful fuel types, as well as minion upgrades that also serve as fuel, and lower in this thread we will unveil more interesting ways to speed up minions that are coming up.
Moving forward a few of the current minions, or ways to increase speed will see slight nerfs.
10/ Minion upgrades are wrong
The two biggest offenders are Diamond Spreading and Fuel-type upgrades.
Diamond Spreading shouldn’t provide diamonds based on the minion action speed, this single upgrade has been a minion meta decider since release, making a minion better the faster it generates resources.
Also, while it is fine for minion upgrades to provide some minion speed, that shouldn’t be the biggest quality of minion upgrades, especially if we add a third upgrade slot.
11/ Minions should require collection progression to place
This sounds like a big change but it really isn’t, in fact most players would probably never notice this.
The idea is that players couldn’t craft or place a lvl 9 minion if their collection isn’t anywhere near the amount of resources needed to craft a lvl 9 minion.
It simply means that if players want high level minions, they will need to earn them by progressing in the collection.
12/ Minions are cute, but boring.
13/ Collecting resources manually shouldn’t be in competition with minions
In many cases, placing minions is far more efficient than collecting the resource yourself, this has been true since release and it has had somewhat of a toxic effect on the game.
Players shouldn’t be demotivated by how much better their minions are at collecting than they are.
If you want to progress in a collection, you should be incentivized to collect that resource yourself despite your minions being faster, smarter, more handsome and overall better than you in every single way.
We cannot solve minions being more efficient than players, but we can create new reasons for players to actively collect resources, for example by dropping new items that minions don’t have access to.
This is a very WIP idea, but consider the possibility of every minion resource in the game having a chance for a special version of that resource to only drop when obtained manually, like a «hypercharged emerald» when mining emeralds for example (placeholder item name). And that special item would be then required in useful crafts, such as high tier minions. Essentially incentivizing and rewarding anyone who decides to mine emeralds manually.
14/ Minion level ups should not alternate speed and storage, but both every level.
Currently every minion tier alternates between extra storage or extra speed, but moving forward every tier will simply provide both.

All Minions List
If you don’t know what minions are, they are an item that you can place on your island to get
items for you even when you are offline. They are upgradable, each upgrade increasing storage or
the speed of the minion. Highest minion tier for all minions is XI or 11. Each minion is crafted using
the item that they produce and a wooden tool. This guide will list all minions acquirable currently
as of Skyblock 0.6.

[GUIDE] ALL PROFITABLE MINIONS

Forum Nerd
As we all know, almost every minion has been profitable at some time. This list will contain the most profitable minions, and the reasons of getting them or not getting them. I would not recommenced using the highest coins per hour minion because it might drop.
Here are a few still profitable minions
I gave up on writing tons of info about them after a few, so it’s pretty simple.
All of this is at t11, and mostly using diamond spreading (except for gravel minion).
So, you can check if it’s expensive to upgrade, and if sooo. maybe do a different minion
1. Lapis: This minion has been crushed and I still feel lapis is dropping, however, it is still very profitable and cheap to upgrade, if you want to play the risky route. You can make 100k per hour with diamond spreading, super compactor, and an ench lava bucket. However, it is dropping. If you want to use it, consider tier 5 or tier 7 because they’re both cheap and almost as good as t11. If you really wanna spend. You can get t9.
2. Redstone: This minion is pretty good, but the main reason I loved redstone minions is because it’s cheap to upgrade and can get you the talisman bag, who heard of making mad cash (from people splashing) and getting talisman bag upgrades. However, this minion gives
30% less than lapis minions. Still, the collection. If you’re doing mainly for collection, get a lot of it, new talisman bags may be coming soon.
3. Cobblestone: Almost as good as lapis, but you need to make a gen and afk it. Not dropping much, prob not convential for most people
4. Glowstone: Extremely profitable, definitely go for
5. Obsidian: Pretty profitable, expensive upgrades.
6. Gravel: Insanely profitable, even though it’s been used so much, there’s so much demand. No diamond spreading though, expensive to upgrade.
7. Sand: Wow, really profitable, but kinda expensive to upgrade
8. Spruce: I didn’t expect this to be profitable but it was one of the most profitable minions (Jungle is also very profitable, same with birch and a little bit for oak.)
9. Rabbit: Very profitable
10. Coal: Barely on this list
11. Cow: YOOOO, THIS WAS THE MOST PROFITABLE, IMAGINE THIS WITh AN AFK GRINDER. THIS WOULD BE OP.
12. Chicken: ALMOST AS PROFITABLE
13. Slime: Also very profitable
14. gold: Good if you can’t get super compactor 3000’s
Okay, I’ll just give you profit margins (This is using E-Lava buckets)
Anything to do with killing stuff can use an AFK grinder to double profits to my knowledge
Spruce: 91k/day
Jungle: 89k/day
Birch: 89k/day
Oak: 78k/day
Dark Oak: 52k/day
Acacia: 65k / day (when acacia sells for more than you)
Cobblestone: 78k/day with AFK Farm
Obby: 78k / day (EXPENSIVE TO UPGRADE)
Coal: 72k/day
Zombie: 75k/day but an afk grinder can double this (to my knowledge)
Rabbit: 83k/day (AFK Grinder can double)
Glowstone: 86k/day
Gravel: 94k/day (no diamond spreading_
Sand: 92k/day
Blaze: 92k/day (AFK Grinder)
Sheep: 101k/day (But AFK Grinder)
Lapis: 98.5k/day
Ice: 43k/day
Snow: 58.5k/day
Iron: 66k/day
Gold: 70k/day
Quartz: 73k/day
Pig: 65k/day (aFK GRINDINER
Cow: 107k/day (think afk grinder)
Chicken: 101k/day (imagine an afk grinder, remember when you could make like 10 mil a day from this)
Slime: 96.5k/day (imagine afk grinder)
Ghast: 60k/day
Enderman: 32.8k/day
Magma Cube: 48.3k/day (but the afk grinder)

ptoato: 103k/day
sugercane: 18.3k/dau
carrot: 95k/day (why?)
Pumpkin: 16.5k/day
Melon: 63k/day
Wheat: 58k/day
End stone: 50k/day
Emerald: 29k/day
Clay: 51k/day
Redstone: 70k/day
Diamond: 32k/day
I gave up on this lol
TL;DR
Lapis: dropping, still pretty profitable though, and cheap to upgrade, just don’t get too high of a level on your minions (t5 and t7 still do good).
Redstone: Collection is amazing, 30% less profitable than lapis. Doesn’t seem to be dropping too bad, but it really fluxuates (sell high), cheap to upgrade. Maybe use till
1.2 mil collection so you can get a good talisman bag
Cobble: Almost as good as lapis, but you need to make a gen and afk it. Not dropping much, prob not convential for most people
