Maybe 1 meal and 1 dinner per week give or take one. We really try not to.
Keep it SFW guys. 😛
I eat out way too often. I need to cut back, but Sonic Breakfast Burritos are like Crack.
Brand Representative for Sage
Breakfast- I will go get coffee out once a week, it’s a tradition. But food isn’t involved usually.
Lunch- During the work week I never go out because I am busy at work.
Dinner- Once usually. Trying to be good about it.
Some weeks are worse (I ate out three times last weekend), but for the most part I stick to this. Trying to save for a house :/
Breakfast- Basically never, I’m not a big breakfast person
Lunch- Maybe once every other week, and usually something like subway
Dinner- probably twice a week here, but not to a sitdown place most of the time. Pizza, chipotle etc. would be more likely, as my wife works nights so it is hectic from when I get home to when she leaves
Keep it SFW guys. 😛
how is it that you know me this well?
I try not to, wife generally has other ideas. mexican place in town Used to be affordable, then they realized they were popular LOL.
as often as the GF is able to force me to, I’d rather just cook dinner myself (i’m a pretty badass cook) and watch tv than go to a restaurant.
HEY! Stop stealing my threads!
Howell IT is an IT service provider.
When I used to cook for myself, I’d just make a big pot/dish of something on Sundays and munch on that every night until it was gone. If I finished it before the next weekend, it was either ramen or Taco Bell, lol. You can probably guess which of those two happened more often.
Now that I’m married I usually eat out for lunch 1 every other week or so, and then throw in another once a month that I go out for dinner with my wife. Even though breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, I rarely go out for it. the last time was when my mom was in town close to a year ago, but she paid, so that doesn’t really count!
I rarely go out to eat, maybe once every couple of months. I don’t eat breakfast in general, lunch/groceries are supplied by the company and I cook at home most nights or have leftovers.
I would say maybe once a week for lunch with the other IT guys, and maybe once a week with the wife for dinner. We don’t like to eat out too often, but it’s nice at least once a week to just get out and adventure sometimes.
I get Dunkin every morning, and really really need to knock it off.
Lunch is maybe 1-2 times/month.
Dinner is probably 3-4 times/month depending on my and wifes’ schedules.
We try to go out for dinner every Friday night. My wife loves to cook so every other meal is homemade.
During the week I’ve become pretty good at never eating out, woo! Maybe 1 lunch and 1 dinner per week. Weekends are a whole other story where my wallet can go on a crash diet.
Keep it SFW guys. 😛
how is it that you know me this well?
I’ve seen these posts before. 😉
I used to order out dinner once a week to give myself and the Mrs. a break from cooking but now a days we maybe do that twice a month (pizza and wings or something along those lines).
I used to eat fast food almost everyday. I don’t do that anymore and since stopping doing that I have lost 40 pounds without even really trying.
breakfast 1-2 times per week
lunch 4-5 times per week
dinner 3-4 times per week (which is way i have lunch 4-5 times)
All these restaurants aren’t surviving because of me.
For the last couple months, I’ve eaten almost all of my meals from a restaurant. I’ve just been super busy in that time and haven’t had the free time or the inclination to cook.
Broken down it would probably be:
breakfast- Twice a week, but I probably only eat breakfast 3 times a week total.
Lunch- easily 6 days a week in recent past, occasionally all 7.
Dinner- probably 4 or 5 times a week.
During a less busy stretch of time, those numbers would probably be cut in half.
When I used to cook for myself, I’d just make a big pot/dish of something on Sundays and munch on that every night until it was gone.
We do about the same thing except we cook two dishes on sunday and alternate between them Mo-We and Tu-Th. They’re usually stew-type thing (various types of ethnic stews, beef bourguignon, chili), sauces to go with pasta, soup stock (for noodle soup), or baked pasta (lasagna, mac-n-cheese beaucaire, one-pot pasta dishes etc.).
For greens, we add a simple/quick salad of lettuce/tomato/cucumber to each meal, with olive oil/balsamic vinegar/salt/pepper dressing. We buy a head of lettuce and wash & tear it on Sun as part of our «cooking for the week» work, and keep it in a zip-lock.
We always have a dress-up-and-go-out-to-dinner thing for Friday dinner, almost always to a fairly fancy/upscale/foodie place.
Saturday lunch we always eat out somewhere quick and cheap. We often eat Sunday lunch out, somewhere quick and cheap.
Saturday night and Sunday nights are our cook-a-fancy-meal nights.
I always eat breakfast at home and bring lunch & eat at my desk; it’s too time consuming to go out for lunch.
How often do you eat out?
Do you usually cook, and eat out less frequently? Or do you tend to burn everything you touch and choose to eat out most of the time?
And as a side question, what are your favorite restaurants when you do eat out?
27 Answer s
Once a month. My mum cooks usually, which is better than any restaurant. Over here, Birmingham is full of good places to eat, my favourite is Dixy Chicken or Nando’s.
We used to eat out 2–3 times a week in very nice restaurants but in order to get our finances in order as a couple, we eat out about once a week and it’s usually sushi. Aside from that, we each fend for ourselves for lunches and my mother cooks most of our dinners.
I usually cook, or snack, and eat out perhaps three times in a month usually Indian, of which there are lots to choose from or Italian. I occasionally like to go to Pizza Hut or even McDonald’s.
Due to financial difficult times we eat out maybe three times a year.
Would love to do so once a week/forthnight.
Favorite restaurant this year is the Chinese (their wok buffet is yummy).
We get takeout a lot more often than eating out. Usually if we go out it’s with friends. This week was pretty standard. Sunday takeout (Japanese), Monday cooked, Tuesday cooked, Wednesday takeout (Mexican), Thursday cooked, Friday dinner out with friends. I might cook tonight if this hangover goes away enough to get out of bed again, otherwise it will probably be another takeout night.
When I was single I cooked pretty much every night.
Not very much anymore. We have cut down from once or twice a month to three or four times a year.
Lol. Eat out.
Um, about once or twice a month with my boyfriend. Usually Chinese.
We used to eat out quite a lot when we lived in the city center, since moving to the suburbs not quite so much, although there is an amazing Thai/Vietnamese restaurant just 5 minutes walk away, we maybe go there every other month. We probably eat out now on average every other week just by ourselves and then on top of that is the birthday meals we seem to constantly go on. (can we not think of something to do other than eat on our birthdays?)
Maybe twice a year? Most of what is offered in restaurants and such is too salty/fatty for me. I really only eat out if I’m traveling or visiting people.
When I get an invitation. I mostly cook at home to save on expenses.
I like to go places where I can’t make the same thing at home, although I often get recipes for the things I do like at restaurants. The latest is an Afghan recipe for pumpkin. I’m looking forward to making it.
Probably a little too often. Part of the reason is that I get asked to go somewhere to eat by people quite often and it’s rare than I turn down such an invitation. I’ve been trying to eat out a little less recently, however.
I’d say average, once a week. Sometimes more.
Mostly when I take my daughter and her boyfriend out, or with friends.
Maybe twice a month.
I usually cook and prefer to.
When I do it is because I may be a bit far from home on some spontaneous adventure.
My mom and I are really good cooks. We take pride in the food we make. We almost never eat out. Maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Thanks to this question though I now have a strong craving to go to my favorite restaurant. It’s called sandwiches and shakes or steak and shakes or something like that. It serves simple yet delicious sandwiches, steak, fries and monster sized thick yummy milkshakes!
Where is the NSFW tag?
I eat out more than I eat out, if you know what I’m sayin’..
Whenever I can get her consent…
At least once per week. Usually Friday Fish Fry. Also I will eat lunch out about 1 time per week with some coworkers. This morning, Saturday, we had a 4 hour breakfast meeting 7:30–11:30! (Don’t worry. We tip very well.)
Very rarely and if I do I prefer to be with somebody since I hate eating in any type of food establishment alone. I like to cook, even after a 14 hour workday breaking my back I still usually have motivation to cook something.
I rarely eat out. When I do I like to go with my kids to family oriented places. (Cracker Barrel, Applebee’s, ect)
When I cook, I will usually burn my fingers or various parts of me rather than the food itself (though I have set off the smoke alarm a few times). I have been cooking since I was about 12 yrs old, so I can cook, I just don’t like to that much. My kitchen is a nook and I get lonely in it lol : (
I take my mother to an Italian restaurant every two weeks for a Saturday afternoon lunch/early dinner.
Other than that, never.
Rarely. I hate going to restaurants really, even if they’re good. I go occasionally to a chinese buffet because they have a huge variety of fantastic sushi, and my mom really likes going. But aside from that, only if a friend wants to, and only if I can’t avoid it.
I haven’t eaten out in a while… in any sense… sigh, hope my tongue skills don’t get rusty…
1–2 times a week. The reasons are in order fat content and calories in restaurant food, cost, preferring what I cook most of the time, and comfort of being home.
— J. Alexanders
– A local Mexican restaurant here in town
– Pizza place close by
– PF Changs, or a good local chinese place
– Ruby Tuesdays (hands down my favorite of the moderate American chain restaurants)
– When I lived in FL there was a local Italian restaurant around the corner from me that was fantastic.
– Also in FL a couple Cuban places
– Toojays in FL for deli and salads
Used to be at least once a week but now because money is tighter, it’s more like once a month. My favourite restaurant is this one
I tend to have a hot meal every day from the cafe at work which saves me from cooking at home in the evening (plus I prefer my main meal to be at lunchtime). As far as eating out at a restaurant for pleasure and not because I am at work, I would say about once ever few months. My boyfriend and I will get a take away (pizza, chinese etc) every few weeks but we don’t eat out at a restaurant very often.

What are Russian restaurants like? What sort of food do Russians eat? —
We have a lot of restaurants in Russia. They offer different dishes of international cuisines. We can find Russian cuisine restaurants as well as Asian or European cuisine restaurants. We could say we prefer traditional Russian cuisine but this saying could be untrue. Let me explain. Russia is a multinational and multicultural country. Russians have been living for a long time together with Ukrainians, Belarusians, Tatars, Kazakhs, Uzbeks and so on. Our traditions have mixed and now we consider most of them as our owns. We can say the same about food traditions. For example, Russian people consider borshch as traditional Russian soup. But it would be right to say that borshch is a traditional soup of eastern Slavs. We can find such kind of soup in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland as well. We like to eat Hungarian goulash, Tatarian chuck-chuck, Georgian shashlyk, Kazakh manti, Belarusian draniki, Uzbek plov as well as Russian pancakes, jellied meat or okroshka. We love Russian cuisine and we love the cuisines of other nations we live with.

In general what sort of food do Russians eat?
Russian people generally eat a rich and varied diet. However, they do eat a lot of dairy products. Some of these include a thick sour cream called smetana, a powdered cream cheese called tvorog and a yoghurt-like drink called kefir.
What sort of food do you serve in your restaurant?
We serve a wide variety of traditional Russian dishes. There’s draniki which are potato pancakes, salo which is tender pork fat, pelmeni which is pasta stuffed with pork and onions and shashlyks which is lamb kebabs, to name just a few!
Can you describe a typical meal?
Certainly. Typically you have hot and cold appetisers to start, then а soup course, followed by the main course, and then a dessert.
What sort of dishes are popular appetisers?
Well, appetisers are usually fish or meat dishes. Popular fish dishes are salmon, red herring and smoked sturgeon. Of the meat appetisers, buzhenina is popular which is lean boiled pork with spices as well as jellied tongue served with horseradish sauce.
What about the soups? I’ve heard of borshch, what other kinds are there?
Yes, borshch is made from beets and cabbage and is very popular. Then there’s solyanka which can be made from meat or fish or mushrooms. Both are served with sour cream. Eating soup is a well-known Russian tradition because of long, cold winters. Russian soups are very warming and nourishing.
What are some of your speciality main courses?
We have a big menu of lots of speciality dishes. Russians like to have a wide range of traditional dishes to choose from, but I have to say golubtsy, grilled piglet, beef stroganoff and roast partridge are my customers’ favourites. Golubtsy is minced lamb, pork and rice wrapped in cabbage and topped with a cream sauce — delicious!
What sort of desserts do you have on the menu?
Baked apple is a popular dessert as is fruit and berry kisel which is a sort of sour fruit jelly. Of course, we always have a wide selection of freshly baked pies, too.
Thanks for talking to us. Now I can’t wait to try all the delicious dishes you mentioned.
How often do you eat out?
Our family rarely goes to restaurants. We prefer homemade meal. —
What other Russian dishes do you know?
We know also cold soup okroshka, Olivie salad, vinegret, jellied meat, pelmeni, berry jam called varenie.
Do you have any traditional family recipes? How old is the tradition and what is/are the dishes?
We have our traditional family recipe of goulash. I know that my grandmother and my mother cooked goulash very often.
What is your favourite national dish? Can you cook it? Tell your partner how.
I love goulash. It’s not a Russian traditional food, but I know that my grandmother and my mother cooked goulash very often. So now we have our own, Russian version of Hungarian goulash. Obviously, I can cook goulash too. To cook goulash, we should dice the meat and fry it with a little sunflower oil, onion and garlic. Then we add sweet pepper and fry it with the meat. After that, we add a tablespoon of tomato paste, a tablespoon of smetana, salt, black pepper and spices and fry this blend a little. Then we poured water and stew for 20-30 minutes. In the end, we add a tablespoon of flour mixed with a little amount of warm water and stew 5 minutes.
Pancakes are one of the national Russian dishes. Homemade pancakes are popular in Russian families all over the country. To cook pancakes we should whisk the mix of eggs, sugar, salt and baking soda in a bowl. Then we add milk and mix everything thoroughly. Gradually add the flour into the mixture. Then add the sunflower oil. Then add some boiling water and mix everything quickly. The batter should be like thick milk. Put the pan on the hob and heat some oil. To get thin pancakes, we do not fill the ladle with batter to the top. Fry pancakes on both sides until golden. Serve the pancakes with jam.

I only eat at home once or twice a week, but there are some weeks when I just could not be stuffed doing anything at home so every meal is eating out. And thats breakfast, lunch and dinner. But I do spend a lot of time on my boat so sometimes its just more convenient to do takeaway food. And being a qualified chef, makes me a picky bastard when it comes to food. I do not eat McDonalds ever. I do not eat HJ’s or as you call it Burger King ever. I eat pizza maybe 4 times a year.

I eat out roughly once a week. It’s probably because I’m getting older and it’s more commonplace to eat on your own to teach independence. It’s also probably because my mother has been sick lately and can’t cook. I’m also driving a lot, so I figure I might as well eat out while I’m at it.

Did I say we only have a home food culture? No, I said we mostly have. Also, truns out americans (that come too this site at least) don’t eat out all that much more.
Or do you just have some grudge against me?
It’s also worth to note that McDonalds doesn’t actually turn in profit in the Nordic countries, and recently they left iceland beacuse the expenses were too high. They stick around over here because they figure we’ll gradually assimilate.

How often do you eat out in restaurants?
Well to be honest, it really depends on the situation.
Like for instance, if I have enough money, then it’s quite more likely that I will eat out every day because of my poor culinary skills.
Whereas in contrast, if I am shortage of money, then I will more likely have to eat at home.
