I never used to go to museums until I joined Weekend Notes, and then I started going to them quite frequently. I must admit I haven’t been to one in the last few months though, as things have been a bit hectic.

I think my favourite museum was the Museum of Childhood.

I don’t go as much as I should or even could.

I love them, and people have gone to great trouble to set them up.
Some are a walk in the past, and I really like that part.
A little like time travel.
I think kids need to go more often, and I think schools should keep that alive.
It’s a wonderful teaching tool, for young and old.I think it has to be on my list also for 2014!
I have been to the Power House in Sydney a few times, just LOVED it.

As often as displays on that interest me, probably twice yearly.
Animal, preferably Dinosaurs!

The British Museum is really excellent, but the best to me was the Cairo Museum!

I Love museums/art galleries! On our 2 cruises around Australia, we’ve visited the N.T.museum, in Fanny Bay, the Adelaide art gallery & the museum next door, the Perth art gallery, having caught a train up from Fremantle, where the ship docked. We also tried to visit the Newcastle art gallery & then the Maritime Museum, but both were closed, due it it being a Monday. When we’re visiting any port, the 1st thing I do, is to look for an art gallery/museum. We visit Melbourne about 4/6 times a year usually, so we visit The Potter’s Gallery & the MCA down there, & also another gallery.

Once we flew to Q’ld, for the day, to view an exhibition, at the Q’ld gallery. We live in south Sydney, so we’re often at the Hazelhurst art gallery,) The AGNSW, the MCA, S.H.Erving gallery, 1 in Paddington, another in Surry Hills.

While O/S: 2 in Madrid, & a couple in 2 other cities we visited in Spain. 2 or 3 in Paris, with the Louvre about 8 times, over 5 trips to Paris. In 1968 I had a day visit in Tahiti, where I visited the Paul Gauguin museum, In Mexico City I visited a museum, then a couple in NYC as we passed through to the UK. In ’04 I visited the Pearl Harbour Museum in Hawaii, & also visited a museum in San Diego. I guess I love museums & art galleries so much is because my grand-father, my father, & his sister were all artists, & my father’s brother-in-law was a sculpture.

You have received a letter from your English-speaking penfriend Tom who writes:

Last month our class went to Washington to visit the National Museum of American History. It was my first visit there and it was fun! How often do you go to museums with your class, if it all? Which museum is your favorite or what museum would you like to visit? Why do you think people should go there? This summer we plan to go hiking with my parents.

Write a letter to Tom.

Nizhny Novgorod Region,

I was so happy to receive your letter. I couldn’t answer it at once because I was ill.

It’s so wonderful that you visited the National Museum of American History last month! I think museums are special places where people can learn about history, science, traditions, art, etc. That’s why people and especially children should visit them. What’s more, it’s a brilliant possibility to widen our knowledge! As for my class, we often go to museums. The Outdoor Folk Museum is my favorite one. It’s a real village where you can see people’s life in the past.

Well, what places do you like to visit this summer? Do you want to visit your relatives? Are you going to have a part-time job?

Sorry, I must finish my homework. Take care.

в) основную часть;

д) формулы прощания;

5. Преимуществом считается использование модальных слов, таких, как surely, what’smore, well, essentially, franklyspeaking, etc.

а) вводная часть;

б) основная часть;

Comment on the following statement.

It is generally accepted that families are not as close as they used to be.

Give some reasons why this change has happened and suggest how families could be brought closer together.

What is your opinion? Do you agree with this statement?

Write 200- 250 words.

The today’s family-life changed a lot. Many parents are divorce, a lot of mothers and fathers have their job’s far away from home. The children are often alone and lonely, but what are the reasons for this happening?

First of all, I think that the modern technology is one of the main reason for this problem. Many parents work in their nearest cities from their home. They work with computer in big offices and came home late at night. However, they have no time to look after their children.

In the past, families used to work «as a family». Every member worked hard and helped the family to survife, for example farmers. Furthermore, the education used to be controled by the parents, not like today’s day-schools with teachers and

professors. On the other hand, there must be a solution to bring separeted families

together. At my point of view, families should spend their free time together. I am

thinking about weekends or the time after work. Children need their parents even

when they are older. To give a reasonable example: I often go out with my parents,

mostly for a dinner. Then my brother and I speak about our future plans or something else. An intensiv conversation is a possible solution. A similar way is, to divide your job into half-part work-times and spend your free time leftover with your loved persons.

A point against this statement is to have financial problems.

To sum up I wish that every family is as close as possible with each other, if they like that.

How often do you go to museums

I was very glad to hear from you again. I haven’t written for ages because of my school activities.

Unfortunately I have never been to the historical museum. I also don’t know if I like visiting museums or not. My classmates and I don’t often go to museums because there is only one museum in my small town. I have read about the MOMI and I would like to visit this museum in London to learn much more about cinema. I think that people should go to the museums to learn something interesting about history and geography, about past or future.

What are your plans for summer? Are you going to visit Russia? Are you planning to have any job during this summer?

That’s all for me today. I have to go to the shop for some food.

Best regards to your family.
Write soon.
