If google chrome version >= 84, you need change exhentai.org cookies with Secure and SameSite=None see here

Currently, Plugins can only accept two arguments, and one of them is reserved for file-specific operations (when you specify an EH URL for example).

Being able to give more arguments to a Plugin would make them more configurable, by allowing more than one option field in Plugin configuration.

It will be nice to have exhentai.org support in addition to e-hentai.org, because e-hentai.org is blocked in some countries (Russia). It should be easy because API should be nearly identical. I tried to shitcode exhentai plugin myself just by changing every e-hentai to exhentai and it still didnt work.

exhentai requires to code in the entire sadpanda cookie bullshit thing, which there’s (understandably) little documentation for. (disclaimer I do have exhentai access, just don’t know how to do it programmatically)

I tried to do it back when making the e-hentai plugin, basing myself on the happypanda code, but couldn’t get past the panda and gave up.

There are scraps of my attempt as comments in this version of the plugin, but I doubt it’ll be of much help. Proves I tried tho 👀

As a workaround, you can use the e-hentai plugin manually with exhentai URLs when editing metadata on a per-archive basis, it just works™

How to access exhentai

The developer doesn’t know how to solve this issue. Because he’s not the website administrator. However, these following tips may help you.

1. Visit ExHentai in a browser

If you can access ExHentai without Sad Panda in a browser, get cookies from your browser, click «Sign in via cookies», enter the cookies. How to get cookies from a browser? Ask Google.

2. Change your IP address

It’s confirmed that some IP addresses cause Sad Panda on some accounts. Please avoid Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Russian IP addresses during registration and login.

3. Play HentaiVerse

The HentaiVerse is a browser-based RPG for E-Hentai. There are rumors that playing HentaiVerse can help solve the Sad Panda issue.

4. Create new profile

If you can access ExHentai after sign in, but somehow Sad Panda catches you later, creating new profile should help. Please read EHentai Settings section.

Sad Panda prefers newly registered accounts. Wait a few days. Sad Panda may lose interest in you.

6. Switch to e-hentai

Go to «Settings->Advanced», enable «Built-in hosts.txt», or config «Custom hosts.txt».

EHentai Settings

Most issues from version 1.0.26 can be fixed here. First of all, create a new profile for EhViewer. Click the «Create New» button on the top, enter «EhViewer» in the dialog, click «OK». Now a new profile is selected. Click the check mark on top-right corner to save the profile. Skip this step if there is no «Create New», but there may be requirements to modify the existing profile. Please modify the profile in both E-Hentai and ExHentai. For a specified issue, please read following content.

Create a new profile, please read EHentai Settings section. Go to «Settings->EH->EHentai Settings», make sure, in «Would you like the Popular Right Now pane to be displayed below the most recently added galleries on the front page?» section, «Yes, display it» is on.

«Excluded Languages» is gone, or doesn’t work

Now «Excluded Languages» is in «Settings->EH->EHentai Settings». Make sure a new profile has been selected, please read EHentai Settings section. If you think it doesn’t work, the developer can’t help you, because this feature is provided by the website. Please add the language tag when searching if you need a specified language version, like «language:english».

Thumbnails are fuzzy

Create a new profile, please read EHentai Settings section. Go to «Settings->EH->EHentai Settings», make sure, in «Thumbnail Settings->Size» section, «Large» is on.

Favourites are out of order

Create a new profile, please read EHentai Settings section. Go to «Settings->EH->EHentai Settings», in «Favorites» section, select an order you like.

pToken error

Create a new profile, please read EHentai Settings section. Go to «Settings->EH->EHentai Settings», disable «Multi-Page Viewer».

Gallery 404 error, or search results are fewer

Switch to exhentai. Some galleries are forbidden for some IP addresses. Please avoid Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Russian IP addresses.

But it already is? Gallery links, like the one you posted above, should already work, as far as I know.

Ohh, I don’t know those are the same website, and yeah the extractor is working fine. But for some reason, I can’t use gallery-dl to download the original images from the gallery, although I still can download the original image manually. Is there a workaround for this problem?

You can only download originals if you are logged in.

If I recall correctly, [exhentai][info] sadpanda.jpg indicates some issue with your account. Like wrong credentials, temporary restrictions, IP bans or something.

Maybe try checking with the site in your browser. Could be caused by alternating between configs with different access methods like you seem to do here..

Hmm, I can log in to my account, I can download the original images manually, and so far there is no sign of error. Maybe I am going to look deeper what causes this, but in the meantime keep this issue open just in case

How old is your account? New accounts need to wait a couple of days/weeks before they are allowed to access exhentai, and gallery-dl does everything over exhentai.org, regardless of the original input URL.

That’s fine. gallery-dl will just ignore username & password If the right cookies are set.

Yep, that means your account is not allowed to access exhentai at that point in time. If you try to access exhentai, but aren’t allowed to for some reason (not logged in, account not old enough, etc), you’ll get an image of a sad panda instead.
