How to become a real Wizard

You are not born a wizard, you become a wizard. You already have the powers and magical abilities that a wizard needs. But, learning to use them to do magic is just a small part of being a wizard.

Becoming a wizard is not an easy task, there are no simple set of instructions to become a wizard. The path and journey of becoming a wizard is a process between you and the universe, I can’t make you a wizard. Becoming a wizard is up to you.

The simplest path to becoming a wizard I know of is:

Step 1: Research and find out what being a wizard means.
(More on this later)

Step 2: Work to become what you understand a wizard is.
Step 3: Repeat step 1 through 3.

These steps are necessary because you couldn’t work to become something you have a limited idea about. Most people don’t know what a real wizard is, part of the process of becoming a real wizard is finding out what a real wizard is. Each person is going to have a different idea about this, and because of this each wizard is likely to be very different from each other.

A wizard must be able to see truth behind illusion. This requires the wizard to learn to see through what is fake, the student to become a wizard should question everything to see if it has truth or if it exists more as an illusion. Question everything, question your understanding of reality.

A wizard that cannot see past illusion will be stuck in the muggle physical world. Being able to see the reality of magic and the reality of the magical world (in truth, not just in fantasy) is part of being a real wizard.

The student of the universe often sees the universe as a puzzle, the wizard strives to learn and solve aspects of this universal puzzle.

Learning about Being a Wizard:
Becoming a wizard will require you to know what a real wizard is, to learn about real magic and manifestation, to learn about the world and universe around you.

Real Life Apprenticeship:
Ideally, one would want to apprentice under someone who knows real magic. This can be very difficult though, and often requires you to work or pay your teacher for their time. Even if you find someone who teaches real magic, there is no guarantee they will teach. I myself (Merlin of Manitou) have refused many students, many more than I have accepted.

From Books:
If online schooling is not an option for you I would suggest you pick up a good book on magic. Scott Cunningham and Silver Ravenwolf are two great authors to start with. Their books are available at major retail books stores and online at Amazon.

Being a Wizard:
Being a wizard also requires doing things like a wizard, otherwise, whats the point? Being a wizard for many, boils down to doing some magick.

Magic can mean different things for different people, for me it means manifestation and spell work. Manifestation is making things happen using your mind and extensions of yourself, spell work can mean many things, saying a verbal incantation, mixing a potion with healing intentions, burning sage to clear energy or many other forms of energy alteration.

Think long and hard before you decide what you want to create with magic.

Today is the birthday of both Frodo and Bilbo Baggins (yes, they share a birthday!) We thought we’d honour Hobbit Day by providing you with some tip-top LotR-inspired careers advice.

Since no one really wants to be a hobbit, we thought we’d take a look at how to become a wizard instead.

What is a wizard?

Wizards may be a separate class of being, but here at Success at School, we never let a little thing like that get in the way of fulfilling our career aspirations.

What skills does a wizard need?

Some flexibility is permitted within the role of wizard. For example, you may still qualify even if you have the tendency to go mad with power from time to time. Please bear in mind that in this case other wizards may try to defeat you in battle, and you do risk being pushed from a window by your minions if you aggravate them too much.

What qualifications does a wizard need?

Wizards are generally qualified in defeating malevolent foes (although it doesn’t always

end well for the wizard either. )

You may also choose to travel via rabbit-drawn sledge. This isn’t essential – other wizards prefer to travel on horseback, but generally only high-pedigree silver stallions that understand the speech of men (this makes communication easier).

Are apprenticeships available?

Introduction: How to Be a Wizard

Ever wonder if a normal person could have magical powers? People can with their imaginations. In these reps it shows you how you can do it and what it takes to be a wizard.

Step 1: Look Like a Wizard

First off, to be a wizard you need to look like one. To start try making a cloak/robe.
You could go out and buy one or you could
Make one by cutting out measurements of the length you need it to be and sewing it together.
This is just one way to make a cloak, you can sew it or duct tape it.

Step 2: A Wizard and His/her STAFF!

With a staff a wizard can have help containing its overflowing power, and it looks pretty cool holding it.

Step 3: Wands!

For a wizard you could have a Wand or a staff.
Maybe you could have both, but his section is about wands. What do you use them for? To help you cast spells. These wands help with that, you could find the Right stick if you’re a beginner. But for a master (advanced) you could roll up a painting and BAM! You have a wand. And my favorite a long, thick glow stick(and yes they make those)

Step 4: Magic at Work

Working for magic is a job that comes with great rewards at little cost. Some beings come with magic and some don’t. The ones with imagination usually have magi in them but they need to let it out. Using magic is a way to do that. There are tons of cool things to do with magic, like fighting evil.

Step 5: Casting Magic

To use magic you use spells. Some spells have funny names like ‘Fruity Tooty,’ or ‘Animalmus Callus’. But to look for spells you need to find some old magic books or make some of your own. To do this step you need to have creativeness and actually think about some of the spells you make.

Anybody can learn to become a real modern wizard or sorcerer by following certain steps. One must first learn how to use their own innate magical powers to be a powerful wizard. Real wizards learn to see past any illusions and know what the truth really is. They learn to know when something or someone is fake. Becoming a powerful wizard or sorcerer involves questioning everything and digging to uncover the truth about anything and everything, even reality itself. A powerful wizard must be able to see through illusions to the truth of reality. Otherwise, they will be stuck in the everyday world full of lies and deception that everyone else lives and believes in. A wizard must believe in the magical world. If people do not believe that real magic exists, they will not be able to see it or use the magical powers around and within them.

What It Means to Become a Powerful Wizard

The word wizard dates back to ancient times and used to mean no more than ‘an expert in wisdom’. In the Middle Ages, the word wizard started being used to reference someone with magic. Magic is a Greek word, first referencing someone in the class of priests or someone else who had wisdom and learned knowledge. Then in the Middle Ages, the word magic started to mean influencing how an event was going to happen and other marvels that were not normal. Sorcerer is a Latin word which initially meant fortune, but again, in the Middle Ages, the word sorcerer started meaning a person who uses magic and can influence events. Wizards not only see the truth, but they also do magic. Wizards can be men or women;, and the term itself is very broad and includes many who practice all different kinds of magic. Magic involves casting real spells that can change or make something happen. Casting spells is a form of manifesting what you want as a sorcerer by using your mind, along with other wizarding tools at your disposal, such as herbs, potions, incantations, crystals, and energy. Spellcasting means using your own energy and emotions as a wizard to get what you want. Setting your intention and focusing on it is often all that it takes to cast a spell or get what you want. Before you start using any magic powers, however, you need to learn about magic and the dangers that come with it. Sorcerers must make sure to practice magic safely as there are grave consequences for wizards who do not know what they are doing and make a costly mistake in the process.

Basic Practice Spells to Become a Wizard

Below are a few easy spells that you can cast to practice your magical powers with as an amateur wizard.

Simple Black Magic Love Spell for Wizards

This spell is for beginners so any wizard at any level of magic powers can perform and cast this. It is a relatively weak spell, so there is little risk involved. The first thing that you need to do is choose a sigil that represents a supernatural being that is associated with love or lust. A sigil is a symbol for something. Some of the supernatural beings that deal with love include: 1. Cupid, who is known as the angel of love; 2. Eros, who is the Greek god of love; 3. Aphrodite, who is the Greek goddess of love; 4. Erzulie Freda, who is the spirit of love; and 5. Asmodeus, who is the demon of lust. Whichever supernatural entity you choose, you should be able to find their sigil easily with some basic research. Wizards can increase the strength of the spell by drawing the sigil with certain materials, which may help raise the control you have over the supernatural entity that you have chosen. When you have this, try and feel a connection with that supernatural being. Focus on what you want, tell the being your desires, such as who you want to kiss you. When you have focused and sent this thought to the supernatural being, then this wizard love spell is complete and has been cast. Be careful when casting this spell though as there are some dangers. If the person that you are casting doing this spell on is not the person you are meant to be with, a good supernatural spirit may help you, but if you summoned a demon, they may forcefully make you and that person be together and then ask for something in return.

Simple Good Luck Spell For Your Journey to Become a Wizard

Everyone has a different amount of good or bad luck,; many people often see more of one kind of luck over the other during their lives. Whether luck is good or bad can also depend on that person’s frame of mind. There are many good luck charms out there that you can get, including clover leaves, a rabbit’s foot, and talismans. Luck is not influenced by science at all so it only makes sense that luck can be influenced by supernatural means, such as with magic. Here is an easy magic spell that you can do as a beginner sorcerer to influence your luck to become good. There are no negative consequences that you may see, but this may upset the balance of nature, and you may never know if that has a detrimental effect or not. All that you need to cast this spell is a penny, the lowest amount of money that you can have in your hand. This penny represents material success, wealth, and making more of this wealth. For this spell to be successful, you have to believe that it will work and put your good intentions and energy into the penny. When you are out doing your thing in the ordinary world, get the penny out. Take the penny and hold it up to your heart, then center and raise up energy within yourself to use for this good luck spell. Now move the penny up to where your third eye is, right between your eyebrows above your eyes, while thinking and saying «A Penny for Luck!» If you are out in public with lots of people around it is okay just to think this mantra and not say it aloud. Next, kiss your hand that is holding the penny and say, «Give the penny to the fairies for luck.» Now throw the penny into a fountain, or flip it into the grass, or leave it by the side of the road, on a windowsill, a tree branch, a fence, or wherever seems to be the right place. Then leave. Walk away from the penny and don’t look back at it. This simple sorcerer’s spell will increase your luck for real, and it will also bring real good luck to the person who finds the penny next. Wizards could also do this spell on a penny and leave it in the home of a friend or other loved one to make their luck better.

Many people who are modern wizards focus on magic with the One. The One is all-powerful. It is infinite and accomplishes what the One wants to accomplish. It is pure, awesome energy to use and work with. These modern wizards don’t do spells or anything else that focuses on what you want. Instead, they just work with the One and let the One guide them. The One is the unconditional love that is in everything everywhere, including in your soul. Everything is connected by the One; wizards can feel everything through the One. Those who follow this will and work with the One will not need to do any spells because they don’t need anything. The One takes care of everything you may need in every aspect: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When you connect with the One, you just have to listen to what it tells you. There are several laws to follow to help you get on this path to becoming a powerful modern wizard.

Find the One Inside of You

Before anything else, wizards must find the One that is inside of themselves. The One is a part of everything in the universe, and wizards are a part of that universe. Some names that have been given to the One include the Goddess, God, Spirit, Creator, etc. The best way to grow as a wizard is to use loving energy, to connect with more loving energy, which the One has. To help you find the One, go somewhere quiet and lay down. Meditate and clear your mind of all thoughts. Put your palms crossed over where your heart is, which is where you can give and take the loving energy from yourself. Say a positive affirmation such as, «I am finding where the One is inside of me.» See how this makes you feel. To grow as a modern wizard, you have to feel loving energy and give unconditional love to everything and everyone, no matter what. Everyone is a part of the One, so that means we are also a part of everything since the One is inside of us. It can be hard to give complete unconditional love to everyone, so this is something that will take work at first. Another exercise that you can do to develop the strength of the power of your unconditional love is to lay down somewhere and meditate. Think about a loved one, not a spouse or partner, but a parent or best friend. Think about them and visualize smiling at them. Let that unconditional love you have for them build up inside of you. When you are ready, decide on where you are going to give this unconditional loving energy, whether a favorite pet or a plant or some other object. Think about that pet or plant while you are thinking and feeling that unconditional love. Hold that visualization of both things for at least twenty seconds while you look at that pet or plant from every side. Look at the colors, the shape, etc. Now give that unconditional love entirely over to what you chose. Push this pure loving energy into the pet or another object, pushing, squeezing the love in. Think about how this makes you feel. Keep a journal to watch your progress as you practice this daily. Practicing this meditative spell will help you become able to give loving energy to everyone, no matter the situation you may be in as a person and a wizard.

Find the One in Everything Else

Since everything and everyone is connected to the One, this means that you can also connect to everything and everyone too. Everything is joined by the same energy, so what someone else feels, you can feel too. You can connect to any person that you want on some level. To connect with another person, first find the One inside of yourself like how you learned to do above. You should start to feel your body tingle with the One’s energy once you have connected. Now imagine that there is a stream or ribbon of loving energy going out of your Third Eye and going to who you are trying to connect with. When your stream of energy gets close to this person, you will start to be more aware of this person and feel them. This feeling will grow stronger as your energy connects to them. You will feel unconditional love flowing between the two of you. Always ask the person for permission first before linking to them more entirely, such as to their Crown Chakra right above their head. When you connect your energy to this area, you also connect to the One, as the Crown Chakra is associated with the higher self. Connecting to another person’s Crown Chakra helps them grow and connect to their higher self, and helps you develop spiritually also for having this experience. You can practice this exercise with all of your friends, family, and other loved ones, along with inanimate objects such as crystals and stones. When you get more advanced as a wizard and feel more comfortable doing this, start doing this with people that you do not get along with for whatever reason. This helps you and that person come into harmony so you may get along in the near future. It helps rebalance your relationship. You can also do this with random people that you meet who seem to need this unconditional loving energy. It will help them realign themselves and do better for both themselves and the world.

Find the One: Become a Modern Wizard

Since the One is everything and everyone, and it connects everything, this means that the One also has all of the knowledge that there is and ever was. The One has all of the experience that has ever happened and ever will happen. The One has seen everything and has known everything since the beginning of time. To be able to gain access to and use this knowledge, a wizard must practice regular unconditional love, giving it to all. Wizards must use the powers of this unconditional love to help everyone and everything also connect to the One. When this is done, the One will connect with you more thoroughly and you will be able to use some of the knowledge that the One possesses. The One will help you on your true path in life if you let this unconditional loving energy in. To do this, a wizard must not think in terms of their ego but instead be open to receiving what the One guides them to, as that is what is best for you. Accept what the One gives you as the One knows what you need the most and what to give you to help you grow as a wizard. When you are open to the One, and you are aware, you will notice lessons that the One gives you to help guide you and give you what you need. Take notice of these lessons and use them in your life to continue along your path as a modern wizard, growing as you go. If you fail to take heed of the lesson that the One sent, you may go backward on your path and have to redo the lesson over, whatever that may be. This path that is yours to take in life is often referenced to your Wyrd, which is an Old English word that means fate or destiny. Modern wizards use the word Wyrd to mean our path to follow that the One helps guide us on. The Wyrd is always there for us, even when we leave this path for a while, but we can always go back to it. Because we have free will, our lives can always change and are not necessarily just up to fate. Our path as a wizard constantly changes as everything can affect your Wyrd, from your actions and reactions to other people and how they affect your path. The One is always there to help guide us as wizards though, no matter how much our path changes.

How to Become a Better Wizard

Life is a learning curve. We’re constantly developing and striving to become the best person we can possibly be. Here are ten virtues that can help you become a better wizard. Not all of them are easy to achieve, but I’m confident that with time, we can all become the best version of ourselves possible.

1. Resilience

This is the art of keeping going even when things are looking dark. Some dungeons in Wizard101 are tough (think of Darkmoor, Baba Yaga or the Rat, if you’re a max level wizard). Resilience means that you try again after failing and/or dying. Dying occasionally is normal, don’t overreact. Remember that wizards are resilient. I’ve never seen a wizard fail to respawn with one health after dying.

You need a resilient nature in PvP as well. PvP is all about testing your limits and facing people potentially better (or more lucky) than you. You’re not going to win every match. In fact, you may have periods during which you don’t win any matches at all. You may climb to the 2k rank range, and then lose 10 matches in a row. Resilience is accepting reversals as normal and keeping going regardless of the setbacks.

2. Empathy

Empathy is the capacity to connect imaginitively with the sufferings and unique experience of another person. Say someone got drawn into the same battle you were in. Don’t get angry at them right from the start. They’re probably feeling just as annoyed about having been pulled in as you do. Hatch with someone with a bad pet occasionally, after imagining how they must feel getting rejected by people all the time.

Understand that your opponent in PvP might feel the game is unfair when you kill them through a lucky unblocked critical. They might react unpleasantly to your “gg”. Think about how you would feel in the same situation and let it go. Surely you know how frustrating it is to lose because of bad luck. Accept that your opponent might not be very happy, and don’t get drawn into an argument.

3. Patience

Patience, young padawan! Let’s face it: we’re not good at dealing with things that go wrong. Maybe you’re trying to hatch the perfect pet. Maybe you’re farming a certain boss for a specific item. Or maybe you’re standing in the Bazaar waiting for someone to sell Steel.

We should be calmer and more forgiving, by getting more realistic about how things actually tend to go. Don’t be that person complaining: “I hatched once and failed at mega.” Hatching for a certain type of pet may require you to hatch 20 times. Accept the reality of 10 fails at mega. Don’t get a temper tantrum in the Bazaar or force friends into selling their reagents. Good things come to those who wait. True, the Loremaster is stingy and will most likely give you a totally useless spell. Don’t take it out on the friends that are nice enough to accompany you on your quest for the perfect spell.

4. Sacrifice

We’re hardwired to seek our own advantage, but also have this miraculous ability to occasionally forgo our own satisfaction in the name of someone else. Help a friend out once in a while! Doing the Jabberwock all alone is scary for a wizard in Avalon. Lend your friends some help when they ask for it. It doesn’t take all that long, surely you can spare ten minutes for a friend. Your friendship will be stronger and a good friend will return the favor at one point along the road.

You can also help strangers out through the Kiosk in Olde Town, if you feel like it. This gives you the nifty “Team Player” badge, so you’re benefitting from it yourself as well! Apart from sacrificing your time, you could also sacrifice your gold by buying Empower TC for your poor friends.

5. Politeness

Politeness has a bad name. We often assume it’s about being fake, which is meant to be bad, as opposed to really ourselves, which is meant to be good. However, given what most of us are really like deep down, we should spare others too much exposure to our deepest selves. We need to learn manners, which aren’t evil. They’re the necessary internal rules of civilization. Ask before you join the battle ring to defeat mobs. Talk about your strategy in a dungeon before you jump in the fight. Apologize when you’re late or inconvenienced someone.

There is such a thing as being too polite, but after most PvP matches, say “good game”. You and your opponent both did your best, regardless of whether you won or lost. If you’re having trouble accepting what your opponent did in the match, think about what you did yourself. Did you fight a good game? Did you play fairly and to the best of your abilities? Then it’s a good game, regardless of what the opponent did.

Politeness is very linked to tolerance; to a capacity to live alongside people, who we won’t necessarily agree with, but at the same time won’t be able to avoid. Work together with others in boss battles. There is no need for you to personally kill the boss, as long as the boss dies. It can be a lot more effective to buff one wizard than to have everyone buff themselves. It’s a little rude to want to take all the honor for the battle. If you rank up a little in PvP, you will keep running into the same opponents. Be polite to them. They’re almost unavoidable, so accept that they’re a part of your wizardly life now.

6. Humor

Humor is seeing the funny sides of situations and of oneself. There’s always a gap between what we want to happen and what actually happens. Like anger, humor springs from disappointment. Say you were planning on doing the two round strategy for Baba Yaga, which depends on everyone joining the fight at the same time. If your friend or a stranger is late into the battle, don’t work your disappointment or irritation out on them. See the humor in the situation. Starting all over again really isn’t that bad.

If someone dies multiple times in a long battle, focus on the funny side of it. Humor is disappointment optimally channeled. It’s one of the best things we can do with our sadness. Everyone approaches humor in a different way and that’s fine. However, don’t let anger, disappointment or resentment occupy yourself.

7. Self-Awareness

To know oneself is to try not to blame others for one’s troubles and moods — to have a sense of what’s going on inside oneself and what actually belongs to the world. Most of the rude PvPers I’ve met and got to know a little better, had something bad going on in their real lives. There is no need to work the frustration of your everyday life out on others. Nobody’s real life is perfect!

See your wizard life as a chance to get away from those imperfections and work on being the best wizard you can be. Be aware of your reactions in certain situations. We all have tendencies to overreact sometimes. When you know how you tend to react in a certain situation (like when you lose a PvP match or someone messes up in a boss fight), you can work on being a better person.

8. Forgiveness

Living with others isn’t possible without excusing errors. I’m sure there are times when others have cut you some slack, so be prepared to do the same for them. If someone has the wrong deck equipped or no mana, forgive them for that tiny misstep and move on. If someone forgets to show up when you had agreed to hatch at a certain time, keep in mind that there might be very good explanations for this. Forgive people their missteps and guide them towards better ways of dealing with the situation. We’re all constantly growing and developing. Accept that you (and everyone else!) are learning to be better wizards all the time.

Forgive yourself as well. You’re bound to lose a few PvP matches because you discarded something important or forgot about a blade or trap. This is totally acceptable. Instead of beating yourself down, forgive yourself and learn from your mistakes. Nobody became good at anything without trial and error. Accept that you’re a flawed human being and will need time to be a better you.

9. Hope

The way the Spiral is now is only a pale shadow of what it could one day be. Pessimism isn’t necesasarily deep, nor optimism shallow. Some day, Kingsisle will deal with boosters. One day, the critical system will be fair.

There is also hope for you in PvP! Maybe you’re failing to get the rank you want right now. Don’t give up, there is always hope. Pessimism is like a self-fulfilling prophecy: if you think you’re going to lose, you probably will.

10. Confidence

The greatest projects and schemes die for no grander reason than that we don’t dare. Confidence isn’t arrogance: it’s based on a constant awareness of how short life is and how little we ultimately lose from risking everything. Personally I have to work on this one.

Dare to ask people to hatch with you; don’t be afraid of getting a negative answer. You can only try. Step into a new battle after you’ve informed yourself about the cheats and be confident in the fact that you can do this. It might take some trial and error, but you’re never going to get through it if you don’t start. Step into the Arena and do your best. You might not succeed right away, but be confident that you can learn from your losses.
