The weather temperature unit displayed on the Windows 10 taskbar is tied to your country or region. Depending on your country or region, the News and Interests app displays the weather temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

If, for some reason, regardless of your region or country, you want to see the temperature degrees in Celsius or Fahrenheit unit, there is an option as well.

This guide will see how to change the temperature format in Windows 10 for the News & Interests, which shows the temperature on the taskbar.

Change temperature to Celsius or Fahrenheit in Windows 10 taskbar

Step 1: Hover the mouse cursor on the weather information button on the taskbar to see the News and Interests flyout. If the flyout does not open upon hovering the mouse cursor over it, perform a click on the weather information button.

Step 2: On the flyout, you will see the weather card, among others.

Step 3: To show the weather temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, all you need do is click on the °C or °F next to the temperature information on the weather card. The weather card on the flyout and the weather information button on the taskbar will now display the weather temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, as per your selection.

Note that there is no way to display the temperature both in Celsius and Fahrenheit on the taskbar.

Change weather location for Windows 10 taskbar

By default, Windows 10 automatically detects the correct location unless you have disabled location services on your computer. However, at times, it might select the wrong place. Here is how to set a weather location.

Step 1: Click or hover on the weather information button on the taskbar to open the News & Interests flyout.

Step 2: On the weather card/tile, click on the three horizontal dots (located top-right) and then click the Edit location option.

Step 3: Next, select the radio button labeled Select location and then type the location name for which you want to see weather information. In addition to the location names, the field also supports postal codes.

Step 4: Finally, click on the Save button.

There are three ways to change from Fahrenheit or Celsius, depending on your preference or needs.

1: Click on the F or C next to the current temperature to choose Fahrenheit or Celsius.

I tried to change my location, but as soon as I click “apply” and dismiss the icon and popup, it reverts back to what it was. Does Microsoft have any QA people on staff? I can recommend some really good ones.

its bad update.. very bad.. it wont chage fron F to C.. not even useful… god

I changed the weather location in Microsoft edge. The weather icon in the taskbar is still set to the wrong location. HOW DO I FIX IT OR REMOVE IT

The tile keeps reverting to Luddite favored Fahrenheit. This occurs even without PC restart and with all locations settings corrected. I’d rather remove the pointless tile.

I have the same problem, with the location reverting back to the WRONG location, when I restart EDGE. I WONDER if it has to do with me clearing my history when I leave EDGE?

The weather app in Windows 8 comes with degree Fahrenheit as its default unit for temperature and its a bit tricky to find out how to change that. To do so, open the weather app and fade in the Charms menu (point your cursor to the top or bottom right corner and slide towards the appearing icons). There, choose Settings. Unlike if you open the settings on the main Metro menu this will open the weather settings where you click on Settings again. There you have the option to change the temperature unit from Fahrenheit to Celsius or back if you wish to.

The default windows Weather app is very imprecise for my location, and in any case I am used to another one. Can I set which weather service I want?

I am getting quite annoyed at these new Windows. Haven’t used desktops for about 10 years, and it feels rather uncomfortable. Yes, all is automatic. But then I don’t have any sort of tracking on what is going on, I don’t feel in control. And then I notice this thing also shuts down programs, moves stuff, and changes back settings…. without asking or warning……

Including farheneit to celsius. I must have changed it at least 20 times in a year. Once in a while some update changes it back to farheneit. Along with other settings, i cant remember them all. Then i have to regularly double check a million settings. Including screen stuff that goes weird.

And then what happens when monopoly (it almost is a monopoly, that’s why it gets sloppier and sloppier i guess) is total?
