How can I change the language of Firefox?
I am using Firefox 11.0 in Spanish. I would like to change this to English. Can I do this without uninstalling my browser? I don’t want to lose my bookmarks and settings.

It is best to uninstall the current Firefox version to remove the Spanish language pack and install the en-US (or en-GB) version instead.
You can find the latest Firefox release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won’t be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Hi, I already have Firefox installed (for years), with a bunch of add-ons.
If I download a new version of FF in another language, will I be able to update FF’s interface language as well?
This post https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1078935 says that I need to uninstall FF first, then install it in another language. Will I lose all my settings if I do this?
Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won’t lose personal data when you uninstall and (re)install or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

Note that you can install additional language packs if you want to be able to switch the language in the user interface.

Uninstall the current Firefox version, but make sure that you do not remove your personal data.
Install the new Firefox version of the wanted language.

i downloaded the correct firefox; now do i change the language?? 🙁
If you didn’t uninstall the previous Firefox version in the wrong language then you need to change the pref general.useragent.locale to the name of the preferred language XPI file (e.g. «en-US» or «en-GB») on the about:config page.
I am dissapointed 🙁 This is the first time I am trying firefox. Upon download, I was taken automatically to install its Hebrew version. Well, I did not want it, I prefered to have my tools in English, otherwise I need to learn whole new terminology. OK, I installed the Hebrew hoping it will be easy to change it to English. The install was very fast, and browser responds good. But I cannot find in the option how to change the user interface to English. When I try to, it takes me to a complete new installation of the English version. Why do I need to reinstall the browser? What should I do with the Hebrew version? Leave it? Remove it? And when I try to install the English version it seems MUCH MORE time. Why?
Why didn’t the installation asked me at first which language I prefer?

For «Set Cookies» do you have an effective permission of Allow?
Some privacy related add-ons may separately intercept or block Google cookies.
I deleted all cookies (for Mozilla and Google) and installed the new Firefox 20.0.1 Deutsch from the recommended page, but all texts stay in English.
I tried the add-on «Deutsch (DE) Language Pack», but nothing happens: it stays in English.
What got a Google-Cookie to do with the default language of Firefox?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
The Menu Bar and all the sub-menus and all other Mozilla pages should be in German. See as an example the uploaded image of the welcome page.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won’t lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
I raised this issue on 6 feb 2013 and still no solution. I also asked my acquaintances, nobody can change the default language Some problems never get solved. but dissolved. I mean, after a while you don’t bother about it, although the problem is still there.

Did you try to download and save the German Firefox version and save the DMG file to your computer?
Current Firefox 20.0 release:
this may be confusing, the initial question from minkowski wanted English, instead of Polish (where minkowski is situated), not German. hegi108 joined the discussion and wanted German, not English. hegi108 solved it, no surprise since situated in a German speaking country.
Like minkowski, my system is US English, I am situated in a German speaking country, and I would like to have hegi108’s problem, English Firefox.
I downloaded English-US firefox about three times and the menu is still German. (mac)
I modified general.useragent.locale to en-US in about:config, restarted, still everything in German.
I quit and deleted the prefs.js, still German.
I deleted all cookies related to moxilla and firefox, still German.
Same when I go to the bottom right and click the language flag, I get the option Restore default (de-DE).
So one possibility could be, how do I get firefox to change this default to en-US? on mac.
