Can I Set Up a Facebook Business Page Without a Personal Facebook Profile?

With its two-billion-person user base, there’s no doubt Facebook can be seen as a powerful marketing tool for your business. It’s exploded in growth since it came onto the scene in 2004 exclusively for connecting college campuses, and now everyone’s grandma is on Facebook, too. Contrary to popular belief, though, not everybody has a personal profile on Facebook. Despite social media becoming part of our everyday lives, there’s always that one person in any given social circle who refuses to use it.

Are you that person?

We’re not here to poke fun at you for not being a part of the largest social network around. Perhaps you’re the type of person who doesn’t want their life online for the public to see. Maybe you don’t understand the value in playing in that space, or maybe you once had a Facebook profile but grew weary of it and deleted it. Whatever the excuse is, that’s fine; we forgive you.

So, How Can I Create a Facebook Business Page Without a Personal Account?

Welp, you’re not going to like what we have to tell you.

Facebook has changed the process for creating new business pages since the feature rolled out years ago. The change means business pages can’t be created unless there is a personal account tied to it. Facebook requires every page to have an administrator who can manage the profile and assign roles to other admins or contributors. This is only possible through tying the admin’s personal account to the business page.

Though you might not like this news, you can breathe a sigh of relief because there won’t be any way for the public to see an association between the business page and your personal profile. When you create posts on the business page, they will show up as being posted by the brand, not by you. The only way people would know you’re affiliated with the page is if you add yourself as a team member on the page’s About tab, which is totally optional.

So. Still need to create that business page? We’re here to walk you through it. But first you need to verify you actually exist and establish your personal Facebook profile. (You don’t even have to tell anyone you did it. Really.)

Facebook is the largest social network in the world, with over 2.3 billion users. Should you create a Facebook page for your business, then?

It’s safe to say that marketers have mixed feelings about Facebook (don’t we all?).

On one hand, it has a massive user base and an unmatched advertising system, plus people are used to following business pages on Facebook.

On the other, it’s not trendy among young people anymore, and it is constantly embroiled in privacy scandals that have eroded the public’s trust in it.

Some people even think that it will go the way of Myspace. So, should you even bother creating a business page on Facebook?

It’s true that Facebook is not the hip new thing that it once was. But at this point, we are so used to using it that it’s hard to imagine a world without it. And it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

That’s why a Facebook business page is an absolute must.

How Do I Create a Facebook Page? (4 Steps)

Facebook pages can be customized with stories, events, and more. If you’d like to create a Facebook page quickly, follow these 4 steps:

The Story Behind the World’s Largest Social Network

In 2003, Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg built a website called FaceMash which presented users with two Harvard student photos and asked them to decide which student was more attractive.

The website was a success, attracting 450 visitors and generating 22,000 photo views in its first four hours.

However, as you can imagine, the university administration was less than impressed and shut it down a few days later. Zuckerberg found himself facing expulsion.

What he didn’t know at the time is that not only would FaceMash give him an idea for Facebook, but he would also meet his future wife because of it (they met at the going away party his friends threw him when they thought he’d get expelled).

In his Harvard commencement speech, Zuckerberg says that FaceMash wasn’t as important to creating Facebook as people think:

“And, you know, that movie made it seem like Facemash was so important to creating Facebook. It wasn’t. But without FaceMash I wouldn’t have met Priscilla, and she’s the most important person in my life, so you could say it was the most important thing I built in my time here.”

Anyway, the idea for The Facebook, which would later become Facebook, was inspired by Harvard’s newspaper editorial about FaceMash.

At the time, people were talking about digital Harvard face book, and Zuckerberg realized that he could create it himself.

“Everyone’s been talking a lot about a universal face book within Harvard. … I think it’s kind of silly that it would take the University a couple of years to get around to it. I can do it better than they can, and I can do it in a week.”

Facebook grew fast, and the co-founders were soon joined by Dustin Moskovitz, Andrew McCollum, and Chris Hughes.

In 2017 Facebook hit 2 billion users. Today, in 2019, it has over 2.3 billion users and continues to grow.

Why Does Your Company Need a Facebook Business Page?

Facebook has been open to the public for 13 years (yes, we are all getting older, aren’t we?).

At this point, people are used to interacting with businesses on Facebook, and everyone is familiar with the concept of following a brand on this platform.

You should take advantage of this and make an effort to connect with your potential customers on Facebook.

You can even route organic leads from Facebook right to your CRM or sales system. For example, at Kinsta, any messages that come to our Facebook business page are automatically routed to our sales team in Intercom. There are a lot of different ways to get creative with a Facebook page and make it for your team.

Alternatively, you can log into Facebook, click the “Create” button in the upper right and click “Page”.

Then, choose “Business or Brand” and click the “Get Started” button:

1. Provide General Business Information

You will be asked to provide general information about your business:

You can tick a box to not show your address, just the city, state, and region.

2. Add a Profile Picture

A profile picture for a company page works the same way as a profile picture for a personal page.

It will appear next to the company name as an icon when you make comments or publish an update.

It’s best if the profile picture is 170 x 170 pixels.

3. Add a Cover Photo

A cover photo is the featured image of your company page, like ours at Kinsta:

It’s best if the cover photo is 820 x 462 pixels.

4. Add More Details to Your Company Page

Once the basics are taken care of, it’s time to add more details to your company page.

First, go to the About page, and add information that you think will be valuable and interesting to potential customers.

Then, go to Photos and add some photos so that people could see what you are all about (remember, a picture is worth a thousand words!).

Then go to Community and create a group to build a community around your page.

5. Choose a Template for Your Company Page

Facebook offers ten templates for business pages.

Click “Settings”, then “Templates and Tabs”, then the “Edit” button.

Build a Following on Facebook

It’s not enough to create a Facebook page, now you need to get people to follow you.

The key to building a following on Facebook, just like with any social media platform, is providing value.

How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Смотреть фото How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Смотреть картинку How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Картинка про How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Фото How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamilProvide value to your Facebook followers and engage with them

You can’t expect people to follow you for no reason.

An easy way to incentivize people to follow you is to post special offers and discounts and make them available only for Facebook fans. But that’s not a sustainable approach in the long run for most of the businesses out there.

If you want to build meaningful relationships with existing and potential customers you should give them something more.

Where to start? Two key aspects: content curation and proactiveness.

Figure out what your target audience is struggling with on a daily basis and then share content — both created in-house and curated from other websites — that helps them solve their problems.
That is in short what “providing value” means.

Also, make sure to interact with people on your company page. Your aim should be to build a community on Facebook. Encourage discussions, ask questions, listen to the answers, and try to be helpful.

A good example is this thread, where a group memmber asked a great questions and many added their answers:

How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Смотреть фото How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Смотреть картинку How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Картинка про How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Фото How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamilEngage with your community on Facebook

This example shows a group, not a Facebook page, I know. Yet the dynamics and the approach to running and growing a group on Facebook are pretty close to growing a Facebook page. The key thing here is: provide useful information and be proactive with users who show interest in your product/service.

Create a Content Schedule and Stick to It

PThe number one mistake that people make when they decide to build an audience on social media is that they don’t create a content schedule.

You see, when you have just launched your page, you are all excited and post ten times a day, but in a week or two the initial enthusiasm inevitably wears off.

When that happens, the posting frequency gradually goes down, and the next thing you know you haven’t updated your company page in 3 months because you were “busy”.

But let’s be honest: you weren’t busy, you just got distracted, and lost focus.

The problem, of course, is that if you do that, you will never build anything meaningful.

Just like anything worthwhile, building a following on Facebook takes time, so you need to approach it strategically:

Tired of WordPress issues and a slow host? We provide world-class support from WordPress experts available 24/7 and blazing fast servers. Check out our plans

All this might sound simple, but make no mistake, it will get hard the more you keep doing it because you might break your publishing schedule, you might fail to find and/or create useful content, etc. But if you persevere, you might be surprised what you can achieve!

Remember: you’re trying to build a following on Facebook, so you’d need to understand that this is a never-ending project. You are building a valuable asset that should help you generate leads. So be patient. Play the long game.

How to Promote Your Company’s Facebook Page Organically

Now that you have spent all this time and energy to create a great Facebook business page, it would be a shame not to promote it.

Here’s how you can spread the word:

How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Смотреть фото How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Смотреть картинку How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Картинка про How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Фото How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamilWe linked our Facebook page in our footer

“Build it and they will come” is a platitude that sounds great but is actually absolutely terrible advice.

Don’t wait for people to come to you, go to them and invite them to check out your Facebook page. The best way to hook them? Provide them with solid reasons to make their choice easier.

A Word of Warning: Facebook Is Not as Reliable as It Might Seem

You may have heard about Facebook banning or removing pages and groups from time to time. If you think this is limited to politics, it isn’t as the recent CrossFit and Facebook/Instagram story tells.

So what can you do to protect your business? Don’t put all your eggs in one basket and leverage channels you own outside of social media!

Your Escape Route: Move from Facebook to an Email List

The problem with building a following on any social media platform is that you don’t own the platform. You can get banned at any time without an explanation. It’s unlikely, but still.

The only solution is to use social media to send people to your email list because that way you are building an asset that can’t be taken away from you.

I know, you need to use the services of an email marketing software provider in order to do that, so you are still vulnerable.

However, while social media platforms have been banning people left and right recently, email marketing software providers managed to restrain themselves so far.

Presumably, that’s because an email list is a much more valuable asset than a social media profile, which means that deleting someone’s email list would set a dangerous precedent.

After all, if you have an asset that generates thousands, or tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in monthly revenue, then you might not handle the news that it can be taken away from you at any time very well.

This means that it’s in the best interest of the email marketing software providers to not shatter their customers’ illusion of safety.

So start thinking about how you can convert your Facebook followers into email list subscribers.

Obviously, people aren’t going subscribe to your email list just because you ask them to do so. Again, you need to give them a reason to do so.

Here are some ideas to start off:

Offer an Opt-In Bribe

An opt-in bribe is something that you offer in exchange for an email address. It can be a discount, it can be an ebook, it can be a video course, etc.

Make sure that your opt-in bribe is something that provides value to your customers.

Share Teasers of the Content That Is Exclusive to Your Email List Subscribers

Before a new email goes out, share a sneak peek on your Facebook page and tell people that if they want to read it, they need to subscribe now, it’s going out soon!

Think about movies. You know how you see a trailer and go “Yup I’m gonna see this one!”? Well, that’s what you want to achieve with your email teaser. You want people to say “I need to read this one, where do I subscribe??”

Share Positive Feedback from Your Email List Subscribers

If you are providing value to your email list subscribers, you will start receiving positive feedback.

When that happens, ask that person for permission to share that feedback on your Facebook page, and share a screenshot of their email (just make sure to protect the sender’s privacy by blurring out their personal details!).

Regularly Promote Your Email List on Your Facebook Page

Don’t be shy about promoting your email list on your Facebook page.

Make sure to include email list promotion in your content calendar. You can start by dedicating one/two posts per week to it. Then try to gradually increase the email list promotion frequency. See how people react. If you get complaints, then take it down a notch, if no one seems to mind then keep doing what you are doing.

Don’t forget that you have more leeway when promoting your email list. After all, it’s free, so your followers will be less averse to email list promotion than they would be to sales pitches posted at the same frequency.

Don’t forget to exercise common sense, though: no one likes spam, not even on Facebook!

Moving your followers from Facebook towards an email list allows you to build much stronger relationships with your followers and have the full control of the medium.

Summary

Let me recap: (some of) your current and potential customers are on Facebook. If you’re not there, you won’t be able to intercept them and engage with them directly. Therefore, you should be on Facebook to being able to reach them and test it as an acquisition channel, at least for a while.

I know, Facebook it’s not the hottest social media network anymore, but it’s the most established one, and your customers expect you to have a business page on it. Give it a try as you now know how to build a Facebook page.

HOW TO: Separate Personal and Business with Facebook Pages

Facebook serves two audiences – individuals and businesses. In real life, individuals work at businesses. They are attached, if you will, to businesses. In the same way, Facebook works the same. Your individual Facebook profile must be attached to a Business page. But you don’t want to be associated with the public page. Facebook needs a real body with a business, but I’ll show you ways you can keep your private life away from your public business page and make costly mistakes like posting personal message to your public Facebook page.

To be clear, here is an example of the difference between a Personal Facebook Profile and Facebook Business Page: How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Can I have a business page without a personal profile? Pretty please?

For sure the answer in mid-2022 is no. HOWEVER, in July 2022 Facebook announced they are testing a way for users to have up to four profiles tied to one account – one for business / work, one for friends, one for groups, etc. The extra profiles won’t need real identities. This is great for Facebook Groups especially since Reddit is so popular based on the anonymity that the user account gives you. Personally, I love Reddit and this should be a huge boost for FB Groups and will be especially useful for business owners and marketing managers. Assuming you already set up a personal profile and business page, you might be wondering:

Can I separate my business page from my personal account on Facebook?

Facebook automatically separates your personal profile identity from public Facebook pages, but there are some gotchas. You want to be sure you are posting as the business and not confusing the status update text box with your personal status update box and vice-versa. Facebook has tools to help you do this.

Business Accounts in Meta Business Suite
Meta Business Accounts make it easier to manage your Pages, Instagram accounts and the people who work on them.
Grow your business with advanced tools and insights
Securely collaborate with partners and manage their access
Separate your work and life for privacy and focus

Creating the Meta Business Account at businesss.facebook.com can enable the special admin area that will enable to visually distinguish your personal profile area from the business area.

Here’s an example of the Facebook Meta Business Suite area: How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. You’ll notice an organizational structure:
An LLC business with Facebook properties (pages, instagram accounts, etc.) rolled up under it. This give flexibility when working with vendors and additional people.

Here’s a tip: Facebook needs a real person to manage a business page. That person DOES NOT need to be you. You can have a social media agency or friend post to the page while you maintain control of the Facebook business assets like the Ad Account. The Meta Business Suite can enable full management of people associated with the business.

I have lots of business pages and personal accounts but I don’t know how to access them or where they are. What can I do?

As a consultant that specializes in Facebook, I can tell you I hear this question a lot. Over the years I have clients that often set up personal accounts and business pages and lose track of them and can’t find them. Also what I will demonstrate is also helpful for locating business page assets.

Here’s what you can do:

Find your current personal profile information:

Visit this page to see your current personal profile:

You will see your Facebook Username. This is important to differentiate between your personal and business assets because your personal username identifies you personally on the Facebook platform. You will also see the email address associated with your personal profile.

If you use your name as also a business name, like I do or some real estate agents, your Facebook name would probably be the same, but they can’t be. Usernames on Facebook are unique. What I do is I use a nickname for my personal Facebook Profile – Kennymorico. I use KenMorico for my business page.

To view all the page you manage with your currently logged-in personal profile, visit this page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/?category=your_pages How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Now you can see all the pages you have access to. Once you see the page you are interested in, click it. You will see the main page. Note the @username at the top left. That is the page username. You can also see the username in the URL of the current page in your Web browser.

Once you know the username of the business page, you can now assign other people to manage the page for you or keep yourself as admin or just see the current admin status by visiting this URL, filling in your business username:

Facebook Business Pages Need an Authentic Person

You might be thinking, why don’t I just create a separate personal profile with another email address and phone number? You can, but you will violate Facebook terms.

Facebook is a community where people use their authentic identities. …
If you want to represent your business, organization, brand or product on Facebook, you can use your personal account to create and manage a Page. Keep in mind that a personal profile is for non-commercial use and represents an individual person.

Facebook doesn’t really have “customer service.” If your page and profile violate terms you risk losing everything you have created and NEVER getting your assets back. Too risky for me and probably you too.

In this video I outline how to use the Meta Business Suite App to easily separate your personal profile from your Business account. Get it on iOS for iPhones. | Get it on Google Play Store for Android Phones.

Think Facebook is just for friends? I did too until Facebook rolled out a massive structural change to Facebook Pages. Now businesses that setup “Pages” have more options to use Facebook like a regular user. How does this benefit a small business or professional person like a blogger?

Facebook Page and the Facebook Profile

I’ve heard of people using Facebook to network before with their personal profile. To me, it just doesn’t make sense. I think people live in two worlds – a business world and a personal world. In my case, my name is my brand. Since my business / professional name is the same as my real name, it causes an obvious problem on Facebook. I used to think that there were better tools to use for networking like Twitter and LinkedIn. But these new Facebook Page capabilities make networking on Facebook easy. Plus, Facebook opens your personal brand / business to nearly a billion people.

NEW! 1-on-1 Sessions

I offer affordable 1-on-1 sessions tailored just for your needs. Facebook has constantly changed the user interface and methods to separate your business and personal matters. Get a review of your social account and solve your issues now.
HELP! I need a 1-on-1

You don’t want your messages exposed to people who are not interested in receiving them. That’s why it’s important to have a separate Facebook Page. We all know people who send business-related messages on their personal accounts. Nobody likes that! If you don’t have a Facebook Page, creating one is easy.

Facebook now has a Follow Button to enable anyone to subscribe to your public updates. This may make sense for a personal brand, as long as your friends don’t mind seeing your topic-specific posts. You can create filters in Facebook for your posts, but this is kind of a hassle. Separate pages can make more sense. In all, it’s not easy to separate business and personal in Facebook without some work.

The Follow button language is inline with Twitter, so users are familiar with its functionality.

FaceBook Page Tab and the IFrame

You’ll notice a big design difference with regular Facebook user profile and business Facebook Pages because of what’s called the tab feature of the Facebook Page. Facebook pages can have a design (if the owner chooses) that look like mini Web pages. They are even easier to create now that Facebook has migrated to what’s called the iFrame to display tab content. How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. iFrames are literally Web pages within Web pages, so regular Web designers can easily create pages and host them on another server outside of the Facebook domain. When users visit your page for the first time, your welcome tab can appear with your logo, fonts, videos, and any other marketing material. The sizes are small though, only 520 pixels or roughly 5 inches wide on a standard computer monitor. Facebook Pages don’t automatically come setup with the iFrame component, and there are limitations for pages with small audiences. According to Facebook:

Major brands, celebrities, and organizations use Facebook Pages as their social home on the web. Besides standard tabs like “About”, “Events” or “Photos” you can add custom Page tabs via the Facebook platform. These custom Page tabs load content from your webserver using an iframe. Page tabs will only be displayed in the web UI. Mobile custom tabs are not supported at this time.
Limitations
Only Pages with 2000 or more likes can create custom Page tabs.

Simple pages aren’t all that you can do. Having developed Facebook Applications professionally, I can tell you there is so much you can customize to make your page fun and viral. Pages give you access to limitless creative possibilities – you just need a skilled programmer familiar with the Facebook platform. Wanna add a game to your page? No problem! Want to use their friends list or gain access to useful personal data to build your database? Yep, you can do that too.

Small Businesses Spending More on Facebook Marketing

Did you know small businesses are stepping up spending on Facebook marketing this year? According to an Inc Magazine survey, businesses will spend more on Facebook than Twitter. Interesting. Twitter, blogs, and LinkedIn made the other top spots. What does this tell me? 1 billion Facebook users can’t be ignored. If you’re a small business or professional you need to respect the size of Facebook and its growing importance in the business community. With the increased features for separating personal accounts and business accounts, you can be sure Facebook has more in store for businesses. The place check-ins are already evidence of that. Think you can’t know what’s happening next? Developers usually know through a page Facebook has called Pages API. It helps them prepare their code for services changes and major upcoming shifts. You may want to check it out as you get deeper into Facebook marketing since Facebook changes can derail your marketing if they remove features.

Can I Convert My Personal Facebook Profile to a Facebook Business Page?
How Do I Convert My Personal Facebook Profile to a Facebook Business Page?

Yes, you can, but this isn’t a great option. If you want to convert a personal profile to a business page it’s probably because it wasn’t setup properly. Business pages are for businesses. Before Facebook Pages, many business setup personal profiles for their businesses because that was the only option available to them. Now, you can convert the personal profile to a business page, but would your personal friends appreciate it? Do you want to lose your personal friends? I suggest creating a new, separate Facebook Page and let your friends know about it by posts in your personal feed and through page invitations.
Here is the official word from Facebook:

“When you convert your personal account to a Facebook Page, a business account will be created to manage your Page. We’ll transfer your current profile picture and add all your friends and followers as people who like your Page. Your account’s username will become the username for your Page, and the name associated with your personal account will become your Page’s name. If you want your Page to have a different name, consider creating a new one.
No other content will be carried over to your new Page, so be sure to save any important content before beginning the conversion”

What Benefits / Features do Facebook Pages Have Versus Facebook Profiles?

Like me, many people have a personal brand. I created a Facebook business page that included my real name. So, for example “Ken Morico.” I keep my personal account private using privacy settings so my business page doesn’t compete with my personal profile. It helps me separate my family and my professional contacts on Facebook and helps me target my status updates. Review your personal account privacy settings here: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=privacy

I Want To Convert My Facebook Profile To A Facebook Page. What Do I Lose / Need To Watch Out For?

Some people report that you lose the ability to comment in Facebook Groups once you convert your Facebook Profile to a Facebook Page. If you want to participate in groups, you can instead comment as your page on the walls of other pages and get conversations going that way. Also, Reddit and LinkedIn have strong communities and groups, so you may want to check out those as well.

When you convert your personal profile your friends will become your fans/followers. Do they want to? My guess is no. Be careful.

I am a Consultant / Advertising Agency, How Can I Manage Many Facebook Business Accounts?

When I worked for an agency, I setup a new, dummy Facebook profile to connect all the Facebook Pages to that separate account. It’s a good way to fully separate many business accounts from your own personal account. You might name that separate Facebook profile “Ken at Work” or make up a name. Then you can create pages using that account. For most small business users and entrepreneurs with only a few pages, I would recommend just using your own personal Facebook profile to connect your pages plus you won’t violate Facebook’s community guidelines like I mentioned earlier.

Manage Accounts with HootSuite

HootSuite can help you manage your social media accounts and help you separate your personal and professional social media lives. Basically, it uses tabs for each stream in a social media account. You can create custom tabs, for instance called “Personal” and “Professional” and keep track of feeds and special search feeds. For instance, I have a tab called “Monitoring” where I keep up to date on what people are saying in the blogging world, allowing me to enter the conversation at any time. With HootSuite’s posting abilities, you can choose which accounts you want to post from and schedule them in the future. Very handy. I’ve found monitoring works better with Twitter than Facebook primarily because I think people are better with hashtagging on Twitter.

I also created a “Me” tab where I gather mentions and searches for my name so I can monitor my personal brand. I suggest you do the same.

Updates

Facebook is constantly changing the user interface and methods for separating business and personal. I’ll be posting more articles on Facebook strategies and learnings as I go, so please subscribe to my blog to stay notified and schedule a Facebook consulting session with me to help with recent changes. Also, I periodically update this page with new information, so bookmark it for reference.

How To Keep Your Business Page Separate from Your Personal Facebook Account

If you have a personal Facebook account, you may have a ton of fabulous friends that like to share amazing details about their life. Yet, when we operate a business, the newsfeed and notifications in your personal account can cause missed notifications. There must be a better way to control my newsfeed, separate my business from my personal profile, and give my business the full attention it deserves.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just login to Facebook and get down to business, and focus on that business page you’ve set up?

There’s a solution! Well, a couple. One way is to have a business and ad account that isn’t based on your personal account. Start by visiting business.facebook.com where you will be directed through a setup series of questions, such as: business name, address, business page, etc. This is the business and ad account manager backend with a completely different user-interface that may seem very unfamiliar. This dashboard provides access to your business and ad account, credit card, spending limits, target audiences, and advertising campaigns. It’s very good to get acquainted with it and set up your business and ad account information. Though it is not necessary to have if you want to simply “boost” a post every once in a while.

The best way I’ve found is to create a new personal profile as a separate account; that’s completely separate from your existing or private personal account. This will allow you access to your business page and provide some business boundaries. I also recommend setting up your newsfeed to provide news and monitor partners as well as your competition. Also in this article, we’ll get familiar with your business page settings, insights, and strategy (my favorite) using the Facebook user-interface that you’ve come to know and love.

This strategy can also be useful for Social Media Managers and any office personnel who would like to keep their private accounts unlinked from a business page account.

The following instructions are fitted for those who have a business page set up already.

Step 1: Create A New Account

First, log out of your old account. Then setup a new account on the login page.

Use a name or alias for your new business account. I tend to use different variations of my name. Enter an email address that is different from your private personal account (an email that was previously used on Facebook). Be sure to set your birthday to something that is similar to yours or your target audience age range. And unfortunately, Facebook is binary, so pick the gender that may align more with your business’ target audience.

Facebook will require you to enter a code that will authenticate through a notification on your smart phone’s Facebook app.

Enter in the 6 digit code, click continue, and a pop up notification will show “Account Confirmed”.

Step 2: Make the New Personal Account an Admin of the Business Page

Log out of your newly created personal account, and log into your old or existing personal account.

Go to the business page > Settings tab > Settings dashboard > Page Roles.

Enter the email you used to set up the new account or the username you of the new account. I find that entering the new email works better in this case. Facebook notifications tend to get lost in my experience. Also, there have been times in doing this quickly where the incorrect user was added. If this happens, all you have to do is scroll down, find the incorrect user account and cancel the invitation.

Click the dropdown to assign the new user as a Admin. If this grays out the email, you will need to re-enter the email then click on the Add button.

Important: log out of your old personal account and log into your new personal account.

You got mail! You should receive an email from Facebook. Click on the button in the email which will direct you to the business manager portal.

Type in the name that you would like to be identified as in the business manager. I choose the name that I used on my new account setup. In step 2, Facebook will ask to verify your password of your new account.

Now you can login under your new personal and disconnected account. To disconnect your old personal profile and account, go to settings > page roles and delete your old user profile that’s listed.

DO NOT add anyone as a friend, accept friend requests, or like any posts.

Of course you can add friends if you really wanted to, though that defeats the purpose of having a business-only account. Now if the friend you are adding is an influencer or partner, that could be considered as business. Though, even most influencers have a business page separate from their personal page. Consider if it’s important to add that person and is it going to provide relevant content for your business. You can choose to not use the newsfeed at all. Or use your business account newsfeed strategically. In the next step, I’m going to show you how this newsfeed can act as your go-to source for content curation, cross-promotion, and help you keep your eyes on the competition.

Step 3: Content Curation For Your Business Account Newsfeed

Personally, I enjoy having my business and personal life as separate as possible. I find it hard to focus on my business when there’s so much happening in my newsfeed posted by friends, ads from businesses…there’s so much going on. By following these rules, you will find less commotion in your newsfeed.

As a business, I’m sure you already have a eye on your partners and the competition. So, let’s reinforce that logic by curating your newsfeed in your business profile account.

First, visit a page that you would like to follow. Under the cover photo click on the “Follow” button. If it’s very important that you see every post from that page, select “See First” by clicking on the drop down menu. This way when you log in to your business profile, you will see these posts first before any other.

Смотреть картинку How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Картинка про How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Фото How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamilSelecting “Follow” automatically sets to default.

Do this for every page you would like to follow in your feed. This could be a community group, partner page, or competition page. I also like to add current events and media companies that create content that aligns with my target audience.

Hope this helps you to make your mark and rock it on Facebook. By creating business boundaries, we can be more productive and possibly get inspired along the way.

How to Convert Your Facebook Profile Page Into a Business Page

Tim Stobierski
Facebook can be a powerful marketing channel for many businesses, particularly small businesses that may not have a large marketing budget. But it’s important to make sure you have the proper type of Facebook profile for your business to make the most of this potential. Below we discuss:
Why businesses need a Facebook Business page
How to convert a personal profile page into a business page
How to merge a personal page with an existing business page

Many small businesses decide to create a Facebook page for their business as a first step in their social media strategy. Often, when setting up their business on Facebook, they do so by creating a “personal profile” for their business instead of creating a dedicated “business page.”

Why businesses choose to do this varies from case to case, but typically boils down to one of two reasons:

Although they are easier to create, personal Facebook profiles significantly limit your business’s marketing capabilities on the platform.

Why should you create a Facebook page for your business?

Creating a personal profile for your business instead of a business page is not only prohibited by Facebook, but it is also a problem for a number of other reasons. The most important of which are:

So, if you are a small business just getting ready to join social media, do yourself a favor and do it the right way: Just create a Facebook Page for your business.

But chances are, if you’re reading this article, it’s because you have already built your business’s Facebook presence on a personal profile and you are looking for guidance on fixing things. Luckily, you can convert your existing profile to a business page fairly easily.

The exact steps that you take will depend on one key question: Do you only have a personal page for your business, or do you have both a personal page and a business page already?

If you only have a personal profile for your business…

Then you are in luck, because this is a quick fix! All you need to do is convert the personal profile into a business page, by following the steps below.

This is what you need to do:

1. Download Your Facebook Information (Optional)

Unfortunately, when you convert a personal profile into a business page, you are likely to lose some information. Though your friends will carry over (they’ll be converted into “Likes”), as well as your general information and most (if not all) of your photos and videos, your individual posts will not carry over—it will be lost in the process of conversion.

That means that if you ever want to look back and recreate your posts, you’ll need a record to reflect on. You can get this record by following Facebook’s instructions to do so. Once you have requested the information, you’ll receive your file as an email attachment after it has been processed (likely at least a few minutes later, depending on how much information has to be saved).

2. Make Sure Any Groups or Pages You Manage Have Other Admins

If your business’s personal profile currently acts as an administrator (admin) for any other Facebook pages or groups, then it is very important that you make sure there are other (active) admins for those pages.

When you convert your profile into a business page, the profile may cease to exist (although Facebook says that it shouldn’t, they have in the past). If the profile managed other groups or pages and was the only admin, then those pages may end up adminless. Which is definitely not good.

So before going any further, navigate to any pages or groups that you are currently an admin on and add a new admin:

3. Follow Facebook’s Steps to Convert Your Page

To begin the process of converting your personal profile into a business page, click here.

According to Facebook, the conversion process will:

First, you will choose up to three categories for your business page. The first category that you select will appear in your business information, so make sure you choose the correct tag.

Смотреть картинку How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Картинка про How to create a business facebook page without a personal account in tamil. Then you will choose which friends should be carried over from the personal profile to your business page. Though you can simply choose “Select All,” now would be a good opportunity to scroll through your current friends and deselect any that you don’t think should be linked to your business page—for example, old acquaintances or competitors.

You will then be able to choose which of your Videos, Photos, and Photo Albums you would like to carry over from your personal page to the business page. (This option is available for up to 14 days after the conversion is complete.)

And then all you need to do is review the information and click “Create Page.”

4. Delete the Old Personal Profile

Once you are sure that your business’s personal profile has been converted into a business page and that your friends have been converted into likes, you will want to assign a new admin to the business page. This admin should be your actual individual personal profile or the personal profile of someone else. The admin should NOT be the personal profile for your business page from which it was just created.

Then, to prevent confusion amongst your current and new followers, you should delete the old personal profile that your business was originally built on. This way, any new followers will go to your true business page, and you will only need to manage a single audience/page.

If you were to keep the personal profile active, then new customers could in theory still connect with it, which would not be good for your customers or your business.

If you have both a personal page and business page for your business…

Sometimes, small business owners will begin their Facebook efforts by creating a personal page for their business. Then, as they grow, they will realize that they should have a business page instead, and they create one. But because they don’t want to lose their existing customers/contacts/followers, they will keep both the personal profile and business page active.

Ultimately, that’s pretty confusing for your customers, who may find themselves wondering which page is the right page for them to follow. And it’s definitely not the easiest for you since you’re now managing two pages for your business. Is there a fix?

Yes! But it’s a little complicated.

Unfortunately, Facebook does not allow you to merge a personal profile with and existing business page. If they did, this would be easy as pie. Instead, what you need to do is: Convert your personal profile into new business page, and then merge the two business pages. To do that, just follow the steps below:

1. Follow Steps 1 Through 4 Above

The first thing that you’ll need to do is convert your business’s personal profile into a new business page. So follow the steps as outlined above:

But before doing this, make sure that the new business page has a name, physical address, and contact information (email, phone number) that is identical to the existing business page. This is a signal that Facebook uses to ensure that pages should, indeed, be merged, so it is important.

2. Merge the New Business Page with Your Existing Business Page

You can only merge the business page with fewer likes into the business page with more likes. This means that if you would like to keep your current (already existing) Facebook business page as the parent page, you will need to ensure that the new business page that you just created has fewer likes. If you find that the new page somehow has more likes, you should comb through the contacts and delete some until the new page has fewer likes than the existing page.

Then, click here to begin the merge process. You will be redirected to a page that lists all of your Facebook Business pages, alongside the number of likes that each one has.

Once the page loads, simply select the two pages that you would like to merge and click “Request Merge.” Facebook will then tell you which of the two pages will become the parent page—if it is not the page that you want to become the parent page, click “cancel” and try again.

Facebook will then review your request to merge the pages, a process that may take anywhere from three to seven business days. Once the merge is complete, you should receive a notification from Facebook by email and in your notifications tab indicating that the process has been completed.

So what exactly happens when the pages merge? Anyone who has liked either page will be carried over to the updated business page, which should instantly increase the reach of your business page (score!). The page that you keep (the original business page) will remain unchanged minus the addition of new likes; the other page will be deleted and removed from Facebook.

3. Delete the Old Personal Page

Like in Step 4 above, in order to prevent confusion amongst your current and new followers, you should delete the old personal profile that your business was originally built on. This way, any new followers will go to your true business page, and you will only need to manage a single audience/page.

Frequently Asked Questions

This section is a list of FAQs we’ve received for users looking to convert their personal profile into a business page profile.

I’m merging two business pages, will the merge automatically carry over contacts?

Yes, If you have two business pages that you are merging, the merge itself should carry over any contacts

I currently have one personal profile that needs to be turned into a “page”, I just want to make sure that all of my friends will be followers. Once I make the conversion, do all my friends transfer over to be followers?

Essentially, yes—when you work through the process of converting the page, you will be given the opportunity to select which “friends” will become “followers” on the business page. You can choose to carry all of the friends over, or you can manually select just the ones that you want.

I want to delete my personal profile which is associated with the business profile now. If I just make someone else the admin, can I delete my personal profile afterward?

Yes, once the profile is converted, you can make someone else the administrator. Once the administrator is set, you can delete your profile.

I deleted the old profile page, but it has a username I would like to use again: What can I do?

According to Facebook’s online documentation for creating usernames, “new pages may not be able to create a username”. This is done so Facebook can verify that your page is a true page.

How do I view my page as a “business page” and not my personal page?

Under your cover image you should see a few buttons to the left, such as “liked” “following” or “share”. If you click on the three dots, in the drop down you should be able to select “View Page as Visitor”.

How do I get more followers on a Facebook business page?

There are many ways to get more followers to your business page, but one of the best places to start is by creating and promoting quality content. This can mean that you are sharing your own content that you create (i.e. blog, audio, images, or video) or promoting other content that is relative to your business.

In regards to step 2, I would like to add myself as an administrator to convert a personal page I created to a business page. Should I bypass this step?

You only need to follow Step 2 in the list if your business page is an administrator for a second or different Facebook group or page. If that’s not the case, you can skip over this step.

What’s the reason for this?

If your existing profile is the only administrator for a group or page, and you convert your profile into a business page, then those other pages or groups would be left without an administrator. If your business’ profile page IS an administrator of another page or profile, you would need to log into that account and add a second administrator. If it is NOT an administrator of any other page, then you have nothing to worry about.

I am in the process of converting my personal Facebook to a business page, but I don’t understand how to change the admin to be my personal account. I want to delete the existing profile because I’ve outgrown it: Can I do this?

The profile that you are in the process of converting is also the admin for other Facebook pages, so you do not want to delete the existing profile.

What’s the importance of a personal profile?

Ultimately, you will need a personal profile to act as an Admin for the page that you have created, as well as the other pages that you are an admin for. This personal profile is the page that you will use to log into your various accounts.

Ok, so I need to have some kind of personal profile page in order to be an admin on Facebook: What are some steps I can take if I want to create a new profile and not use my existing one?

The Bottom Line

Though it may seem like a bit of a complicated process to convert your business’s personal profile into a business page, it is actually very straightforward and simple. Facebook has done a great job of simplifying the matter for its users, and you can always cancel if you get overwhelmed or confused, and come back to it later.

Ultimately, if your business’s Facebook presence is built on a personal profile, converting it into a business page is in the best interest of both your business and your customers.
