How to Disable Your AdBlocker Temporarily or For a Specific Site
Everyone agrees that adblockers can often be life-savers. Without them, you may have to deal with an enormous quantity of ads every time you want to check out something on the web. However, there will be times when you have to disable the adblocker.
Have you ever tried to open a page only to receive a complaint about your adblocker? This can happen to anyone. Some websites depend on ads to make money and will require you to purchase a membership or disable the adblocker. When these situations occur, you’ll need to disable your ad blocker.
Follow along to learn how to disable your ad-blocker and support your favorite sites.
How to Disable Ad Blocker on a PC or Mac
Given the similarity in web browsers available on Windows and Mac, we’ll combine the instructions for simplicity’s sake.
How to Disable Ad Blocker on Chrome
Google Chrome has a rather rudimentary built-in ad blocker that blocks ads on sites that it considers to be too spammy. If a site has too many ads or walls that prevent you from seeing the content, Chrome may block those. It can also block ads with auto-playing audio.
However, the Chrome ad blocker may sometimes prevent you from opening sites that you really want to see. We’ll now show how to disable it for all websites. Of course, you can enable the ad blocker again whenever you want.
If you want to reverse this, just follow the above to the end and turn on Blocked on sites that tend to show intrusive ads.
You can also disable the ad blocker just for specific websites. This may be more convenient if you know the sites in advance. You can still keep the ad blocker on for all other sites. Here’s what you have to do:
How to Disable Ad Blocker on Firefox
Firefox offers a high level of safety and protection to its users. This is great, but it may sometimes prevent you from opening some websites if it mistakenly considers that they contain malware. If you’ve installed Ad Block on Firefox, here’s how to turn it off:
There you have it! You’ve turned off Ad Block, but the extension is still there. You can turn it on whenever you need it again. On the other hand, if you click on Remove instead of Disable, you’d delete the Ad Block extension from your browser.
Of course, you can also disable Ad Block just for specific sites. Here’s how to do so:
That’s it! Just reload the page, and the ads should appear. If you have a different version of the ad blocker, you might need to click on Don’t run on pages on this domain. This action disables Ad Block for the whole domain (the site and all its pages).
How to Disable Ad Blockers on an iPhone
If you have to disable adblockers on your iPhone for any reason, do this:
That’s it! Again, you can change your mind whenever you want. Just go to the Safari settings and reverse the action.
How to Disable Ad Blockers on an Android
Most Android users use the Chrome browser, which offers decent protection from potentially threatening websites. But what if the protection makes your system slower and doesn’t allow you to open a certain website? You can disable adblockers:
That’s it! It’s essential to turn on both Pop-Ups and Ads. Selecting only Ads isn’t enough to disable blockers. If you ever want to turn ad blockers on again, all you have to do is open the settings and tap on Pop-Ups and Ads one more time to disable them.
On the other hand, you could also turn off ad blockers for particular sites only. Here’s what you have to do:
There you have it! Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to disable adblockers for all trusted websites at once. You’ll need to open each website and repeat this action.
Note: You won’t be able to turn off the ad blocker if you’re in Lite mode. Lite mode is an excellent feature that makes websites load faster and smoother, but it also automatically disables certain ads. Therefore, you may need to turn off Lite mode before you can do anything about ads.
There’s Always a Catch
Ad blockers are pretty standard nowadays. Besides blocking ads and banners, your ad blocker may protect your system. It may prevent malware and keep your device running smoothly.
However, there’s always a catch. If a site requires you to disable Ad Block, there’s always an option to do so. As you can see, you can either disable Ad Block for all websites or only particular sites. You may find the second option to make more sense to you.
What do you think? Did you manage to disable your adblocker?
How to disable AdBlock on specific sites
Are you trying to watch a video or read an article on a site that doesn’t allow ad blockers? Do you want to support a site you love by allowing it to show you ads? Use the steps below to pause AdBlock temporarily or add a site to your allowlist to see ads every time you visit.
Note: The methods described below work in desktop browsers on Chrome, Firefox and Edge. There are similar steps for the Mac app. You can also pause AdBlock on your mobile device or add websites to your allowlist on your iPhone or iPad.
To allow ads to show on the site you’re currently visiting, click the AdBlock toolbar icon to open the AdBlock menu. Under Pause on this site, select Once to temporarily pause AdBlock on that site or Always to add the site to your allowlist.
When paused once, AdBlock will automatically start blocking ads again when you leave the site. If paused always, the site will be added to your allowlist ensuring that ads will continue to show every time you visit the site.
To start blocking ads on a site again, click the AdBlock toolbar icon and select Unpause AdBlock. You can also manually remove the site from your allowlist:
To always allow ads to show on the page you’re currently viewing, open the AdBlock menu, select More pause options, adjust the page slider to match the URL of the page you want to add to your allowlist, then click Exclude.
AdBlock will allow ads on the current page but will still block them everywhere else, including on other pages on the same site.
To start blocking ads on that page again open the AdBlock menu and select Unpause AdBlock or remove the page from your allowlist manually:
To temporarily allow ads to show on all sites, right-click on the page and select Pause on all sites from the context menu. After enabling this, any site you visit will allow ads, however, all tabs and windows that are already open will need to be refreshed to allow ads.
AdBlock will remain paused on all sites until the browser is restarted. To block ads again, right-click on the page and select Resume blocking ads from the context menu.
Alternatively, ads can be allowed on all sites by right-clicking on the AdBlock toolbar icon and selecting Pause on all sites from the menu.
To unpause, right-click on the AdBlock toolbar icon and select Resume blocking ads.
If you prefer to allow ads on most sites, only blocking them on specific sites, you can set AdBlock to default to «off.» We call this running AdBlock in «Allow Ads Mode,» showing ads on all websites, and blocking them only where you tell it to.
Allow Ads Mode is similar to pausing AdBlock on all sites but in Allow Ads Mode you can still block ads on some websites, and AdBlock will remain in Allow Ads Mode until you turn it off.
To use AdBlock in Allow Ads Mode:
Exception (allowlist) rules always override blocking rules. If there is a particular ad you want to see, you can use AdBlock’s resource page to create an exception to the rule that’s blocking it.
How To Disable Ad-Block
The internet is full of advertisements. They can become overwhelming, just too much, annoying – and yet they serve an important purpose. Some websites heavily rely on the income from ads to stay online as they have no other way of monetization.
We think that it’s a small price to pay to have some ads showing up on a page if you can use the service for free. If you agree and want to do your part in supporting websites that offer free help or services, check out the tutorials below.
We have checked with three popular Google Chrome ad-block extensions and how to disable them for certain websites or domains.
Disable AdBlock For Certain Websites
The following tutorials will show you how to disable ad-blocking extensions on Google Chrome for certain websites. There is no need to disable or remove your ad blocker completely!
We have chosen three of the most popular Chrome extensions below.
1. AdBlock
AdBlock is probably the most-used and best-known Google Chrome extensions for blocking ads on all kinds of websites as well as YouTube.
The handling is rather easy. As is disabling the ad blocker for a certain webpage or the whole domain. Just follow these steps:
1. Click on the AdBlock icon in your browser’s toolbar. It’s the red octagon shape with the held-up hand in it.
2. A menu pops up after clicking. Here, you can, on one hand, pause the extension on the site you are visiting or on all websites until you re-enable it. Secondly, you can choose to not run the ad-blocking extension on the page or all pages of the website. The latter is what will be most helpful here.
3. Click on “Don’t run on pages on this site“.
4. A new window will pop up. There, you can specify which pages should be excluded. Pull the left control all the way to the right and leave the right control in its default position. These changes are visible in the shown URL as well where * is a placeholder for any sub-domain or page name that might be part of the URL as well. (shown below)
5. Click on “Exclude“.
6. Once you did so, the page you were on will refresh automatically. Once this is done, the formerly red icon in the browser’s toolbar will be green and feature a thumbs-up icon. This icon will appear on all pages that are excluded from the AdBlock. (see right image)
2. Adblock Plus
Another popular Google Chrome extension is AdBlock Plus. Disabling this extension is even easier than the method shown above.
1. Click on the AdBlock Plus icon in your browser’s toolbar. It’s the red octagon shape with the text “ABP” in it.
2. A menu pops up after clicking. It immediately shows an option to disable the ad blocking on the website or specific page you are viewing.
3. Click on the toggle that enables adblocking on the website you are on. This will disable the extension for the domain and pages of the domain.
4. After you clicked on the toggle, it will turn gray and you are prompted to refresh the page in order for these changes to be applied to your browser.
5. Once the page is refreshed, the Adblock Plus extension will be disabled on this website or domain. This is also visible via the toolbar icon which is now grayed-out on websites that the extension is disabled for.
3. AdBlocker Ultimate
The third extension we will have a look at is AdBlocker Ultimate. Disabling this extension for certain websites is quite easy and quickly done.
1. Click on the AdBlock Ultimate icon in your browser’s toolbar. It’s the red shield with the closed lock in it.
2. A menu pops up after clicking. It immediately shows the notification that the ad blocker is enabled on the website. It’s marked with a green checkmark.
3. Simply click on “Enabled on this site“. The text will immediately change to “Disabled on this site”, sporting a red “x”.
4. Now, the ad blocker is disabled on the pages of this domain, which is shown in the toolbar icon now being grayed-out.
Thank you!
By disabling ad blockers, you support the websites that provide free content or services. Thank you for your contribution!
Google Chrome
Opera
Mozilla Firefox
Microsoft Edge
How to Disable AdBlock on Major Web Browsers
AdBlock is a popular content filtering extension for major web browsers like Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Microsoft Edge.
We also reviewed this extension in our best ad blocker roundup. As the name suggests, its main function is to block unwanted and annoying advertisements from being displayed when you surf the Internet.
However, installing AdBlock prevents you from accessing websites whose revenue are driven by display ads. For example, I wanted to visit CNN but ran into this warning instead.
Looks familiar? Obviously, the CNN website can detect that I’m using an ad blocker. What a bummer.
I can easily whitelist those sites, but it’s going to be very time-consuming because I don’t know which sites are like CNN and which are not. Also, I want to ensure I never run into this problem again. So today, I am going to show you how to disable or remove AdBlock in commonly used browsers, step by step.
This guide is best for those of you who want to temporarily disable Adblock because you need access to a certain website, but you plan to enable it later on in order not to get spammed by those annoying advertisements.

I’m gonna transport back to 2010 before all this “ab blocking” b.s. That should do the trick.
BTW…does anyone have a working transporter available? Mine’s not quite finished yet.
I do not have ad block on chrome. The site still wants me to disable what isn’t there. So what do I do?
I have been watching SBS on Demand without any problems, but today I get a message saying that there is a problem, and I should remove or disable an adblocker. I have never installed one of these. I can still access SBS on Demand on my TV. What can I do?
I have removed all of my ad blocker programs, but still get the warning msg on Firefox and Chrome. I am beginning to believe that there is something in the registry left over which is triggering the warning! But What? I have tried uninstalling the browsers and re-installing them with no luck. Is there a common file in the blocker programs which might make the browsers think I still have an ad block program installed?
P.S. The ads that are blocked are inside text of news articles. I have plenty of ads, but I’ve become totally blind to them. So why does the film company insist that I turn off my ad blocker.
You tell me how to turn off adblocker, but I have no adblocker once I get to where you send me nor anything that appears a possible blocker.
I have the misfortune to be on Chrome 10. I know that some ads are blocked, but I have no idea of what blocks them. I’ve been on this all evening when I’d hoped to see 2 films, but they won’t show with the mysterious adblocker blocking.
It would have been better in any case for your clear description to show how to whiteline than to shut down the whole thing.
So what’s the next idea?
I can play videos from SBS On Demand on my mobile phone and tablet, but not on my laptop.
I do not have an Adblocker installed, so are there any instructions for allowing SBS On Demand in this circumstance?
I don’t have the Ad Blocker, and yet it gives this problem! 😥😪😓😓
for those who does not have the adblock, you can disable it this way:
beside the url is a padlock icon (eg. (lock) google.com). click that icon and go to SITE SETTINGS. in the SETTINGS, scroll down the page until you see the ADS option and then select the drop down arrow across it and select ALLOW. the ads will now be allowed on the site you needed.
note: i am a google chrome user. i don’t know if this is applicable for other browsers.
I don’t believe you can remove ad blocker from Edge. Don’t know where you get your “info” you are sharing with everyone, but you need to make something else up.
this does not work for a chromebook
I have been through your recommendation for Chrome, but cannot find ad blocker anywhere
