Everything about Facebook API: how to get and use it

What is Facebook API?

Facebook API is a bundle of solutions used as a primary way to get data in and out of the platform. It enables developers and app users to access the functionality of this network: user information, photos and videos, messages and more.

How to get Facebook API key.

If you want to get access to the Facebook API key, you should register or sign up with your existing Facebook account on the developers portal and approve your identity. This will take just some simple following steps:

Go to the Facebook portal for developers and click “Log in”. You can log in with your existing Facebook account or create a new one

When you find yourself inside the service, press “Get started” in the right upper corner of the main page

To start working with the developers tools, you have to approve your account. Press “Next” in the popup that shows up

Then the service will offer you to create your first app. All the Facebook APIs and Apps stats are tracked in the Developers Dashboard, and it can’t be accessed without creating an app.

The easiest and most convenient way to use Facebook APIs is to add the Apps right in the Dashboard. Simply choose the one that corresponds to your needs.

How to use Facebook API Examples

The main product is the Graph API, that serves as a base for all other kinds of Facebook APIs, They are in essence extensions of Graph API, and all of the Facebook products interact with it in some way.

What use can you make of the Facebook developers console and the products provided there? There are plenty of ways to upgrade your website or app using the content and some of the functionalities of this social platform.

You can display various kinds of social media content – posts, pictures, videos – on your website or app to engage and entertain the users.

But keep in mind that when the Graph API is implemented to be used by other users, they will also have to approve first in a popup. Only after a user authorizes, the application will get an access token from this user and will be able to use his or her information from Facebook profile.

Facebook API limits

Remember that every API type always has limitations. Graph API queries made within the app access token are counted against that application rate limit. Each app’s call count is the amount of requests it can make during a one hour window and is calculated as follows:
Calls within one hour = 200 * Number of App Users

Facebook API Integration

The platform provides several ready made solutions for non-developers on the basis of its Graph API. All the Facebook apps and API are in essence a set or collection of Graph API nodes. This means, you still have to complete Steps 1-3 described above to create an account and get access to the dashboard. Below we describe the most commonly used Facebook standard API applications.

Facebook Feed API Types

This type of API allows access to a page’s settings, content, and metrics. It enables you to create and display posts, comments from a page, page owned content and more. The full details can be found in the Pages API Documentation. Don’t forget you need a token from an app user who owns or can perform a required task on the page.

There are two types provided by Facebook – Video API and Live Video API. Both of these post videos on a page, group or event administered by an app user. Video API is intended on publishing short and long videos on a single or multiple pages and groups. Live Video API, in its turn, is used for scheduling a live broadcast, streaming a video at a user profile, group, or event and also interacting with the watching audience. And of course you need pages, groups, or events access tokens or a combination of them depending on where you want to place your video or live stream.

This kind of API is also presented as the Graph API functionality, but is only available for Facebook Marketing Partners. It also requires an access token from the admin of Event or a Group that created this Event.

You have two options of getting access to and using Facebook news feed. The described Graph API gives an opportunity to access a separate User Feed of status updates and get posts API and links published by the user or other person on the profile. You can read more about it here.

There’s also a Public Feed API, which makes it possible to display the content marked as ‘Public’ on the third-party service or website. But this kind of API key is granted only to approved media publishers, so you have to apply first.

Facebook Community API

Access to the comments on Facebook can be obtained through Graph API. As the comments can be left under various types of content, you have to get access to an object to work with the comments on it.

This part of Graph API represents objects that contain a recommendation. The default fields include date, star rating, review text, user information, and ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ badge.

If you wish to have more control over the reviews displayed, you can adjust the Review Plugin according to your preferences.

Facebook Tools APIs

Facebook API login example can be seen on many web-services that require registration. This provides users a fast and secure way to log into a website or an app. This API collects users’ access tokens to get their profile information, which is possible only after user approval. If you want to use this kind of API you have to get your app reviewed and approved by the Facebook administration.

Places Graph is a separate Facebook solution available for Android and iOS platforms only. With it your app can get the information about users current location. It also enables search for and discovery of places, location sharing, and geo tagging. Places API also requires getting access tokens from users. To integrate and start working with places API, you have to get Facebook SDK for your app first.

The payment API includes the details of a payment made in a certain app. These payments are created in Facebook payments and proceeded on the basis of the platform. This type of API also requires an access token for an app that creates a payment.

Messenger API is an app which enables you to organize a conversation channel on your website by the means of Facebook Messenger. The Messenger API solution also allows a developer to build guided conversation with users. This way the messenger can answer a user automatically using Send API (also called Facebook Bot API), which sends webhooks to the url of the server, where the messenger is hosted.

Facebook marketing API Types

Marketing API is a bunch of Graph API endpoints that help to optimize advertising on Facebook. Facebook Ads API enables users to create and manage ad campaigns, sets of ads, and separate ad units.

Currently there are only Vehicles and Real Estate categories on Facebook Marketplace. To access this section of Facebook platform, you have to create a developer account and verify your business. This solution offers to use Lead API together with developer webhooks for better performance. For it you have to create your app as was described earlier in this article and submit it for Review to get it approved by Facebook.

This solution helps to track and optimize the behaviour and journey of your customers from mobile, web, bots, offline, and other resources. To implement it you have to integrate Facebook SDK into your app or website. You can learn more in the Analytics Help Centre.

Latest API Changes

Facebook API changes include versioned changes – the ones that are introduced with the release of a new API version. There are also non-versioned changes that are introduced outside the normal releases. To upgrade to a higher Facebook API version there is a special API Upgrade Tool.

The latest version is v8.0 freshly released in August of 2020. It now features:

The previous version v7.0 released in May 2020 will be available until August 2022.

Facebook API Status and Errors

The current Platform statue is healthy since October 1 2020. But the requests made sometimes result in various Facebook API error responses with the respective error codes. For example, Facebook API error 400 – Bad request – means that a query is no longer suppoted and you need a new access token to be generated. Here are some other:

CodeName
102API Session
1API Unknown
2API Service
3API Method
4API Too Many Calls
17API User Too Many Calls
10API Permission denied
190Access Token has expired
200-299API Permission (Multiple values depending on permission)

Facebook Api Documentation

The documentation of all the kinds of Facebook developer APIs can be found in the Docs section of Facebook developers portal. The full list of Graph API root nodes can be found in the Facebook API Reference section. Each API documentation includes a short tutorial on the permissions required, and also how to use and implement it. It can be found in the ‘Getting Started’ and ‘Guides’ sections of each specific documentation.

13 Ways to Contact Facebook Support

Kinga Edwards

“How to call Facebook”?

Facebook does not have a public phone number that allows one to call and speak directly with consultants.

If you were just googling that question, though, you’re probably in need of urgent support from Facebook with regards to your company profiles.

Well, you’re not alone.

In the era of online support, we are accustomed to being able to get in touch with businesses with ease. Online chats, email, and helplines are now the most effective and immediate ways to reach the companies whose services we rely on every day.

In the case of the blue giant, however, the situation is slightly different.

The process of contacting Facebook may seem challenging, but it isn’t impossible.

Let’s take a look at the best way to contact Facebook support.

Before you get in touch with Facebook support

How to get prepared for contacting Facebook support?

You will usually be asked one thing if you’re an advertiser, which is the ID of your advertising account. It could also be the catalog ID and/or a particular ad ID, if applicable.

At some point, Facebook may get buggy and many functions will not work correctly. You should wait a few hours and only contact support if the situation does not return to normal after that period. Meanwhile, you can try to find social media groups – they frequently have many questions about bugs, so you can make sure the problem isn’t yours alone. Also check for possible failures on sites like DownDetector.

Additionally, remember that Facebook support cannot assist you if you violate Facebook’s terms and conditions. Support agents aren’t the ones who established them, so they’re held to the same standards as anyone else.

Looking for more resources on Facebook management? Check out our guide for Facebook ads targeting!

How long does it take to receive an answer from Facebook support?

Several factors can affect how quickly Facebook responds. On working days, the response time is generally twenty-four hours (Facebook notes that enquiries submitted overnight may take a little longer to respond). It is not always possible to accomplish this, and the reason is mainly two-fold: multiple enquiries of the same type and topicality of the issue (how complicated it is).

How to contact Facebook support?

#1 Get answers from Facebook Help Center

In many, many cases, help centers are… helpless. Despite their name, they are often outdated or provide little value. Fortunately, this is not true of the Facebook Help Center, which is regularly updated with knowledge.

Facebook Help Center is an extensive and regularly updated resource on the use of the platform, managing Facebook accounts, general rules of using Facebook, as well as privacy and security.

Use the help panel if you have any questions, as it is a true treasury of basic and advanced information about how to use the platform. You can access it for free, 24/7, even if you are not logged in to Facebook. You can still use this support channel even if, for example, your account has been hacked or blocked.

As well as many pages explaining how the platform works, the Help Center includes an FAQ section.

Facebook users often face a wide variety of problems, so the most commonly asked questions are ready-made solutions. Upon clicking on a topic of interest, you will be redirected to the solution page. At this point, you may already be able to find the answer you want.

It is very easy to navigate through the Help Center. The site contains a lot of useful resources, solutions to specific issues, and answers to common questions.

Prior to reaching out to other support channels, you should use the Help Center as your first step. However, regardless of how extensive the Help Center is, it may not contain the answer to your question. Below are some other suggestions you might find useful in such a situation.

#2 Contact Facebook support via Report a problem

Only logged in users can use this option to contact Facebook. Should you lose access to your account on this site, you must proceed to other methods of contacting Facebook.

Using the “Report a problem” option is worthwhile if your issue is purely technical. It can be found by selecting the Help and Support button in the upper right corner. You can only access this option after you have logged in, which was not the case with the previous option.

Facebook allows users to report broken pages, payment problems, and content that is offensive or in violation of its rules using this method.

It is important to remember that Facebook does not have access to all of your data, so be sure to describe your problem clearly when reporting it.

Ideally, you should also include screenshots. You will receive a response from a Facebook administrator who will analyze the report. The status of your ticket can be viewed in your account. You can appeal a decision if your request is rejected.

#3 Contact Facebook via an advertiser contact form

You can reach out to a Facebook consultant directly if you run a Business account. Be aware, however, that you must be the administrator of an active business account.

Advertisers can access Facebook’s special help here. Facebook advertising accounts are completely free to create. You won’t have to spend a lot to use one – you just need to create an ad account and promote a post for the minimum daily cost.

It is worthwhile to create an advertising account on every Facebook account – simply to be able to use advertising contact forms. For logged-in users, the form requires (before sending) that you specify the advertising account associated with the profile to which the message will be sent.

You will be reporting issues that prevent you from buying ads using this form. You can expect a quick response if you report your problem using this method. Managing name changes, advertising issues, unpublishing of content on your Facebook page, or a specific link ban are just some of the difficulties that may occur. You can also write on someone else’s behalf (e.g. about the blocking of another FB account for which you need to buy ads), but this will only exacerbate an unpleasant situation – and it’s hard to predict the results of such an indirect intervention..

Creating an account with a Business Manager is one more way to ensure you get a response. Facebook treats such accounts differently and more seriously.

#4 Contact Facebook via chat

Please note that not all accounts are equipped with this feature. There are no specific requirements for running a Facebook Business Support chat. Depending on the number of available agents, the option is allocated to accounts gradually.

Due to resource constraints, chat support was canceled and/or severely restricted during the pandemic. Our decision to describe this method was based on the fact that in most cases, it has the shortest response time.

Chats with consultants can only be arranged by customers who are running active campaigns on Facebook. Non-advertisers must fill out a contact form instead.

You can access the chat in only two ways:

Conversations will appear in Messenger, and the chat is available every day between 8:00 and 22:00.

#5 Use direct email addresses

Additionally, there are a few email addresses you can use to contact Facebook support. The majority of the time, you’ll receive an immediate reply from an autoresponder, but you may also receive a real response from a Facebook consultant as a follow up.

Here are the ones most likely to work – keep in mind, though, that they may be deactivated over time and new ones could appear instead.

#6 Browse questions

The Facebook community forum is another way for users without business accounts to get help with questions about Facebook.

Signing in with your Facebook account will redirect you to the forum. Browse by category or topic to find queries. There are already countless answers in the forum since it is a few years old! Click the gray button in the upper right corner of each forum page to ask a question, then select its topic and subtopic. Publish a question and wait for answers from other Facebook users. You might be surprised at how quickly answers can come in!

#7 Use official Facebook sites

It’s not surprising that Facebook wants to shorten the route for users to get help without involving their support. Another helpful resource they provide is a set of special thematic pages. Some of them just share helpful knowledge or updates, but others allow for discussion.

#8 Dig more and deeper

Sometimes, it seems almost impossible to find a way to contact Facebook, especially if your case is rather complicated. Facebook legal and technical pages are rather well-built and advanced, so it usually just takes a lot of digging to find a solution to your case.

For example, if you want to report the infringement of your rights or problems concerning your trademark, it would be better, quicker, and more reasonable to use the dedicated options for reporting these kinds of issues.

Normal reports may be ignored or overlooked, but infringements reported this way or trademark issues reported via this page are what can bring you quick responses. You have to fill in more information to complete them, but they are taken more seriously by Facebook.

(editor’s note: from my experience, infringement reports only worked for us when we had such a problem, normal reports were automatically classified as “not obeying community standards”.)

So, it’s often worth digging into more advanced rules.

#9 Message consultants/schedule a call

If you run some social media campaigns, it’s likely that you were approached by some so-called Facebook Marketing Consultants via e-mails. They often offer, free of charge, their expertise and advice for your marketing campaigns run on Facebook. And it’s likely you haven’t accepted that offer, or you haven’t even seen it – but now, when you’re looking for Facebook support, it may be really valuable to look for such an email in your inbox.

It often contains a direct email from a particular employee of Facebook, so you may try your luck at replying to them directly, explaining your issue and asking for help.

Ultimately, you can schedule a call with a Facebook marketing expert using this link. Such a short consultancy may answer your questions and you’ll be able, for free, to clarify your needs and doubts without contacting Facebook support.

(editor’s note – Facebook seems to care more about localization of their services, so it’s likely you’ll be contacted by someone from your area. This can be great for those who do not feel comfortable with using English in their communication.)

#10 Use other social media channels to contact FB support

It may seem intrusive this way, but as they say, it doesn’t matter how something works as long as it works. You may want to look for some Facebook employees – maybe even potentially those who contacted you as Facebook Marketing Experts – on LinkedIn or Twitter. While sending them various tweets and messages may simply be pushy and won’t help you achieve your goal, you may want to get involved in discussions with them or answer their tweets. Even though this won’t guarantee you success, it might help you get your message across.

#11 Live chat support test

Live chat support has been missing from Facebook for many years, but now the company is testing it. US-based creators can contact Facebook (Meta) about any issues they are experiencing with either Facebook or Instagram. It could be anything from a question about a new feature to concerns about the status of a payout.

Facebook is also planning to provide live chat support for general users worldwide, starting with those whose accounts were suspended due to a violation of Community Standards or unusual activity.

As of yet, it is unclear if or when this opportunity will be available to all Facebook users.

#12 Investigate older requests

If none of these options work, check that you haven’t already contacted Facebook before, and use that contact if so. How? By using and tweaking method #2 above.

The Support Inbox offers an overview of all reports and requests you have made on Facebook. Mine looks as follows:

They are all relatively old as you can see, but that’s not a big deal. The best choice is to pick the one about rejecting your ads. Then select “Options” and you’ll see the “Appeal” command.

Clicking on it enables you to craft a message to Facebook. Since it concerns a particular issue and is not a random, casual request, it might be seen and answered in a more personalized way even if it addresses a completely different problem now.

How to get to facebook. Смотреть фото How to get to facebook. Смотреть картинку How to get to facebook. Картинка про How to get to facebook. Фото How to get to facebook

Again, there is no confirmation that Facebook will reply and even if they do, the answer may not be satisfactory. However, if you never try then you’ll never know.

#13 Bonus – for desperates

Online methods didn’t work and your problem is still unresolved? Well, you may want to switch to… an offline form of communication.

Sending an appeal describing your problem via traditional mail may be an effective, yet a rather lengthy, way to communicate with Facebook. It’s headquarters should of course receive such a letter in English.

And here’s the address you can use:

Menlo Park, CA 94025

The United States of America

Find the right way to solve your problems with Facebook

For starters, contacting Facebook customer service is not the easiest thing in the world. The likelihood is that you will receive an automatic response several times, none at all, or even conflicting messages. Hopefully, with our ways to contact Facebook support, you’ll find the right one to solve all of your Facebook problems. Good luck!

How to Get Verified on Facebook: A Step by Step Guide

Learn how to get verified on Facebook to build credibility and improve your Page’s discoverability.

Getting verified on Facebook can be a daunting process, but you don’t have to go into it blind.

These tips on how to verify a Facebook Business Page, personal Page, or profile will help you put your best foot forward when you apply for that blue verification badge.

Bonus: Download a free guide that teaches you how to turn Facebook traffic into sales in four simple steps using Hootsuite.

What is Facebook verification?

Facebook verification is the process of getting an account or Page verified to show other users that it represents your authentic presence on the platform. A blue checkmark badge appears next to a verified account’s name:

How to get to facebook. Смотреть фото How to get to facebook. Смотреть картинку How to get to facebook. Картинка про How to get to facebook. Фото How to get to facebook

Verifying social media accounts began with Twitter in 2009 as a way to mark genuine accounts of public figures or notable organizations. Facebook followed suit with its own blue verification checkmark in 2013. The practice was then introduced to Instagram in 2014.

Facebook verification is usually voluntary, but some kinds of accounts must be verified. Verification for Pages with large audiences has been required since 2018. Currently, individuals’ profiles also undergo verification when their audience reaches a certain size.

What Facebook verification isn’t

Facebook has simplified its verification process in recent years. You may have heard about gray checkmarks or Facebook Marketplace verification. However, both of these programs have been discontinued.

A verification badge is distinct from other badges available on Facebook, such as top fan badges or seller badges.

Why verify your Facebook Page?

Getting verified on Facebook is a great way to establish brand credibility online. Both large brands and local businesses can be verified on the platform.

The verified badge lets your audience know you’re authentic. It also helps your Facebook Page show up higher in search results. This makes it easier for potential customers to find your business.

How to get verified on Facebook

Getting verified on Facebook is as easy as filling out a single form. But it pays to be prepared before you take that step.

Step 1: Choose what kind of account to verify

You can request verification for a Facebook profile or a Facebook Page.

How to get to facebook. Смотреть фото How to get to facebook. Смотреть картинку How to get to facebook. Картинка про How to get to facebook. Фото How to get to facebook

As long as you’re logged in when you verify your Facebook account, the form will automatically display the Pages you can submit an application for.

To apply for profile verification, you only need the profile’s URL to get started.

Step 2: Confirm your authenticity

When you apply for verification, you’ll need a piece of identification to prove that you are who you say you are. This makes it impossible for fake accounts and imposters to get verified.

The accepted forms of identification are:

The rules about which specific forms of ID are acceptable vary depending on who issued them. When in doubt, check out the complete list of rules regarding pieces of ID.

Whatever document you use, you will need a digitized version of your proof of identity to attach to the form, e.g. a scan.

Step 3: Confirm your notability

The second part of your profile or Page verification application asks you to show that your account is notable enough for the blue checkmark. Facebook wants to know that there’s a public interest in verifying your account.

In this section, you’ll provide basic information. This includes the category your account falls under and the country or region where your account is most popular.

There are also several optional fields. Being as complete as possible will help your chances of getting verified.

The Audience section is where you tell Facebook what kinds of people follow you, their interests, and why they follow you.

Filling in the Also known as field isn’t always necessary. It helps Facebook see your reach if you or your organization goes by different names. This might be the case if your brand uses different names in different markets.

Finally, you can provide up to five links to articles or social media accounts that demonstrate your notoriety. These links must be independent. Paid or promotional content won’t be considered.

Step 4: Wait

Once Facebook receives your application, they will review your request and either confirm or deny it. This process can take anywhere from 48 hours to 45 days.

6 ways to increase your chances of getting verified on Facebook

When Facebook decides to verify a profile or Page, it looks for four qualities:

In this section, we’ll look at ways to make sure that your account meets all the requirements for a blue checkmark.

1. Keep it professional

The image your Facebook Page presents should match the image your brand presents elsewhere. This helps Facebook recognize the connection between your Page and your business.

Ensure you are only sharing on-brand content to your Page. And don’t forget to remove anything that negatively affects your credibility, such as:

Take a look at your business’ page through the eyes of a potential customer and edit or remove anything that looks less-than-professional.

2. Make sure your company information is up to date

If your information isn’t kept up to date, it won’t matter how professional your Facebook Page looks. Facebook will review and validate your information before they grant you the verification badge, so you need to ensure it’s accurate.

You will need to check that the following is up to date:

3. Provide details

The more details you can provide about your business, the better. Make sure you’ve filled out all applicable details in your Page’s About section. These details include:

4. Link to official properties

The right links are important if you want to get verified on Facebook. For Facebook to approve your verification request, you must have an up-to-date link to your business’ official website. You must also link back to your Facebook Page from your website.

5. Create a Facebook Business Page

If you’re verifying a Page for a business, be sure that you’ve made a Facebook Business Page. The process for verifying a Facebook Business Page is the same as for any other, and making one is free.

The information you include on your Facebook Business Page will make you appear more authentic, unique, and notable.

6. Cultivate your community

The best way to demonstrate your notoriety on Facebook is to have a large and active community of followers.

There are many ways to increase your Facebook engagement. These can include everything from curating content created by your followers to using Facebook analytics tools to know what your audience responds to.

How to stay verified on Facebook

Receiving verified status on Facebook isn’t like winning a Nobel Prize; it can still be taken away once you have it.

The following tips will help you keep your Facebook verified status.

Respect Community Standards

When you’re verified, it’s important to be familiar with the Facebook Community Standards.

In theory, once you’re verified, you have to follow the same rules as everyone else. In reality, accounts with large followings are often shielded from strict or automated moderation. But the recent exposure of Facebook’s “cross-check” practices means that a large following might not protect you as much as it once did.

Standards about harassment and illegal content are relevant to all Facebook accounts. Others are more applicable to a verified business or brand.

For example, if you’re curating content by other users (and you should be; re-posting user-generated content is a great way to build community engagement), make sure you’re doing so in a way that respects Facebook’s intellectual property and privacy standards.

Use two-factor authentication

Getting verified on Facebook can add value to your brand. Make sure to protect your account with two-factor authentication.

Two-factor authentication means you have a second way besides the log-in screen to prove who you say you are when you access your account. This second piece of proof can be:

Having two-factor authentication makes it much harder for anyone else to get access to your verified Facebook account.

Develop and maintain a Facebook marketing strategy

Having a verified presence on Facebook is a recognition of your notoriety. It isn’t a guarantee that you’ll stay that way. Remain relevant on the platform by adopting savvy Facebook marketing practices that help you connect with your audience.

Facebook marketing can include everything from traditional ad buys to the strategic use of boosted posts.

Anything that gives your brand added credibility is worth pursuing. Follow the steps above to get verified on Facebook—and see your business grow.

How to get your Facebook Page Back

Lost access to your Facebook Page? Here’s how to get it back.

I know, you don’t believe the title. “It’s impossible! I tried everything!”, you say.
Trust me, that’s what I would have said too, before I did something so crazy it just worked!

The first thing to note about a Facebook Page is that it’s not the same thing as an account/profile. You can’t log in to a Page, there are no passwords to reset. In order to access a Page, you need to have a Profile first which can then be used to create a page. If the page already exists, the only way to gain access to it is to have an Admin add your Profile manually.

What do you do if your Facebook Page doesn’t have an Admin?

That’s a problem Facebook isn’t really equipped to deal with. If you don’t have an Admin, there is nobody who can give you access to your page except a Facebook employee. There are no support resources for this issue and there is no way to contact Facebook Pages Support directly.

So, again, what do you do?

UPDATE, October 2020: While this method has worked and continues to work for some users, there is no guarantee it will work for you. Many attempts have resulted in various responses from Facebook, seemingly at random. Including but not limited to: ignoring your request; answering the request by saying they can’t help; flagging your Facebook account for submitting fraudulent copyright claims; threatening to delete your Facebook page. View the comments section below for my replies to various issues. Strategy Lab is unaffiliated with Facebook and can only offer advice from our experience, so our ability is limited.

Part 1: Report Copyright Infringement

Yeah, the system in this area is pretty broken, but I did some digging and found mysef an in!

I reported the page we wanted back to the Facebook Legal department, claiming it was violating copyright.

Paste the following text:

You will recieve an automated email from Facebook with some links and information about copyright, as well as a copy of the content of the form you filled out.

Someone from Facebook Legal should contact you soon and will say something like:

After that, you will recieve an email with this message:

Now go back to Facebook and watch for an update in your Support Inbox.

Part 2: Pages Support & Notary

Your support inbox is where Facebook employees will update you on the progress of your reports and support tickets.

You can visit it here:
Support Inbox

You should soon see an Open ticket titled “ You Reported an Issue Accessing a Page ”

In the ticket, you will be given a list of items you need to gather in order to complete the request and roughly 2 weeks to submit it. Read these requirements carefully.

The items you will need to collect are:

Fill out the provided template. Make sure to include ALL the information specified in the document and double-check that it is accurate and all the URLs are correct.

Now that you have your document notarized, scan it into your computer and create a PDF document containing the pages of the notarized statement, a copy of your driver’s license and (if applicable) the govt. issued business license or certificate of incorporation.

The Home Stretch!

Once you have the PDF, return to the Facebook Support Inbox. Under your Open ticket, scroll to the section titled “Your response”. Here, click “Add Attachment” and select your PDF.

Don’t hit send yet, you should also paste the following into the “Write your response here…” field:

Please find attached my government issued ID and a notarized and signed document containing all information relevant to requirements A through G.

The Page I am requesting Admin for:
[name of page] –

My Facebook account:
[your name] –

I reaffirm my declaration under penalty of perjury that the information I have provided is true and accurate.

Once the field is filled out and the PDF is attached, you may finally click “Send

And now we wait.

After this, they may respond requesting further clarification on some things. As long as all the information in the notarized document is accurate, you can refer them to it again.

After this point, the Facebook Support staff should add your account as an Admin on your page and your powers will be restored!

And that’s it.
That’s how I did it.
You may now applaud.
You’re welcome.

Get Verified on Facebook: Page or Profile (Blue + Gray Verification Badge) for FREE [2022]

I recently just updated this article to reflect the latest changes to getting verified on Facebook. Enjoy!

Ahh, the blue checkmark. The one additional feature that your Facebook page can have over your friends’ pages.

Every day, I get tons of messages about this. But is it worth it and will it transform your business? and what are the steps to apply?

Getting verified on Facebook (whether it is a personal profile or a page) is actually very simple.

In this post, I list the steps that you need to follow to get that highly sought-after blue verification badge to your name. (Note: the grey badge is no longer available)

You might be wondering if you need a lot of followers to get verified. This doesn’t seem to be the case as long as you can prove you are someone worthy of a blue badge.

So read on to figure out how to get verified on Facebook.

Facebook verification link

If you are just looking for the verification contact form, here it is. Good luck!

If that doesn’t work, paste this link on your browser: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/295038365360854

If that still doesn’t work, then your country isn’t eligible. This link works as of March 12, 2022 in the United States. This is what it looks like.

1. How to get your personal profile or business page or profile ready for verification (Blue Badge)

First, let me start by saying that not every page or profile can be verified, unfortunately.

While most personal pages will be fine meeting the first 3 requirements, the #4 one (notability) is the hardest one to achieve.

It requires that you know how to get press for yourself. ( Sale Product on sale

Here’s how you can ensure your page meets all the criteria before requesting verification:

Another helpful trick to see if you can get verified using Facebook Ads Manager

If you tried the above 2 options and couldn’t get verified AND are spending a considerable amount of money on Facebook Ads ($50k/mo+), try reaching out to them via your assigned Ad Account Representative and see if they can submit a verification request on your behalf.

3. FAQ

Who can get verified on Facebook?

Anyone that meets the 4 verification criteria stated by Facebook (authenticity, uniqueness, completeness, and notability).

What’s the official link to request a verification on Facebook?

The link is here. Good luck!

What are the benefits of having a blue or grey badge? Is it worth it?

To be honest, other than having a shiny badge next to your name, having a verified checkmark is not that exciting or worth it, especially if you are paying for one. I would highly encourage you not to buy Facebook verification.

Btw, I do NOT sell any sort of verifications.

How long does it take for Facebook to approve/reject a verification request?

For a grey badge, it can take anywhere from 48 hours to a week to receive a response from Facebook.

For a blue badge, it takes 3-45 days to hear back. Make sure to keep an eye out on your support inbox.

Why did Facebook reject my verification?

If you got rejected, you can re-apply in 30 days.

What is the difference between the blue and gray badge?

As of October 2019, Facebook no longers offers grey badges to business pages. This is because it was confusing to users.

“Based on feedback, we’re removing the gray badge and focusing on other ways for businesses to show their authenticity on Facebook,” said a Facebook spokesperson.

Who got the blue verification check and who got the grey one?

The blue checkmark is for large brands, media companies, or public figures (like the main @CVS page or @Drake).

The grey checkmark is for a particular store location (think Target on 4th street), or smaller businesses (like Mom and Pops Ice Cream).

How do I request business verification?

You can follow the steps outlined here.

What are the verified badge requisites for law enforcement, city governments, politicians and elected officials?

There are some additional requirements for verified Pages for law enforcement agencies, city governments, politicians, and elected officials.

Conclusion

So those are the steps to verify your page or profile on Facebook.

The application process has been streamlined but remember that you need significant press to get successfully verified.

If you got verified, congrats! That is a great step towards beefing up your social media presence.

If you are still not verified, let me tell you, you are not missing much. There are other better ways to interact and prove whatever you want to prove to your audience.
