Any version of Flash you can get your hands on will work just fine. Newer versions have some bug fixes and extra features, but they pretty much all operate the same way. It’s a bit expensive, but worth every penny.

Not sure why it hasn’t been mentioned yet, but there is a thirty day free trial of Adobe Flash CS6, the latest version. You can download it here.

Here’s a list of animation software. You could try Powerbullet Presenter but I doubt it’ll be very good for making a madness animation.

Before you complain that flash is dead, read this. You can still use adobe flash for animation or art and it works just fine, what you can’t do anymore is make games that run in your browser. You can still make a game in flash, but it won’t work on most browsers.

Program name: Adobe Flash (Any version works)
Add frame: F5, F6, F7
Rotate/stretch objects: Q
Brushes: B (brush) Y (pencil)
you can figure out the rest by playing around with the program

@Block God new problem, everytime i try to make a new keyframe its filled the whole line as a black bar and when i press f6 it fills all keyframes and when i try to animate it selects everything and no longer works.

Seeing this made me realize how hard animating is especially with your quality animations. Good luck and krinkles made a good job with these sprites they look clean af compared to the old ones

Is there a way to make, let’s say, a repeating animation that you can just insert into a project?
For example, walking, that seems really mundane to animate over and over again. Maybe I want to make a really solid looking, fast punch with the heel turn, hand spin, torso spin, other hand moving. But the thing is that madness characters punch a lot, so I would need to animate it again and again? Why when I could just program those layers to do one thing and call it «punching animation» and then call on it every time I need my character to punch.
If it isn’t already obvious I have never animated before and I have never used flash or any other animating software. Or any computing software for that matter

What about distances and range? Or different hand sprites?

well.. you can select the layers and the frames and then convert it into a symbol
then call it
