Yes. Cocaine has two main forms, and one of them is smokable. The smokable form is “cocaine base” and has a low melting point that allows it to be smoked.
Cocaine base is commonly known as “crack,” or “rock.”
Cocaine hydrochloride is the chemical name of the form that cannot be smoked. Cocaine hydrochloride can be snorted or dissolved into a liquid for injection, but its boiling point is too high for smoking. Street names for cocaine hydrochloride are “blow,” “snow,” “nose candy,” or “yayo.”
Despite common myths, cocaine base (crack) and cocaine hydrochloride (coke) is the same drug. Once in the body, both impact the brain and body the same. That said, the route of delivery makes a difference.
Cocaine base is more addictive than cocaine hydrochloride, and there are two reasons for this:
So the differences between “blow” and “crack” are only how long each takes to start working. This time difference appears to be critical to the development of addiction. These differences help explain why studies show smoking cocaine base as more addictive than cocaine hydrochloride.
How Do People Smoke Cocaine?
To smoke cocaine, it must be in the correct form. Cocaine base (i.e., freebase cocaine) vaporizes at about 80 °C (176 °F).
In contrast, cocaine hydrochloride must be heated to 180 °C (356 °F) to vaporize. At these temperatures, the heat will break down and destroy cocaine.
Cocaine base is usually smoked in pipes made of metal or glass. Naphthalene (cigarette) lighters are used to smoke crack. Butane torch lighters are not needed.
Effects of Smoking Cocaine
Smoking cocaine will cause effects similar to snorting or injecting it. In addition to the effects of the drug itself, smoking cocaine will cause extra damage to the lungs, sinus, and oral tissue.
The heightened addiction potential of cocaine base versus cocaine hydrochloride can also increase harm in indirect ways. Addiction causes negative impacts on health, finances, relationships, and occupation. Since smokable cocaine has a higher chance of addiction, these effects are more like than if someone uses cocaine hydrochloride.
Physical Effects
Effects on a person’s body may include:
Constricted (tightened) blood vessels
Dilated (larger than normal) pupils
Fast or irregular Heartbeat
Higher body temperature
Higher Risk of Infection
Tremors and muscle twitching
Psychological Effects
Effects of the mental state of a person may include:
Euphoria (extreme happiness or pleasure)
Hypersensitivity to light, sound, and touch
Behavioral Effects
Effects on how someone behaves around others and in social settings can include:
Paranoia, irrational distrust of others
Dangers Of Smoking Cocaine
Smoking cocaine base has some unique dangers that do not happen when one snorts the drug. The risk of cocaine addiction is higher when smoked, but it also has unique side effects.
Burns
One of the processes to make cocaine base involves using ether as a solvent. Sometimes ether is left in the mixture and can cause burns when people try to smoke it. Ether is very volatile and flammable.
Also, pipes used to smoke cocaine tend to be small and harder to hold, leading to burns on the fingers and hand. Since cocaine is a numbing agent, a person may continue burning themselves without feeling it until later.
Brain Problems
All forms of cocaine increase the risk of a stroke, which is permanent brain damage from a clot. Cocaine increases blood pressure, which makes clots more likely to form. It also narrows blood vessels (constriction), making a clot more likely to get stuck and prevent blood flow, leading to a stroke.
Heart Problems
Cocaine, whether smoked, snorted, or injected, significantly increases the risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
Lung Problems
Those who smoke cocaine have an increased incidence of cough, asthma, and infection.
Cocaine Overdose
Since a higher ratio of cocaine is absorbed when smoked, the risk of overdose may be higher. Symptoms of overdose can include seizure, stroke, abnormally high body temperature, and heart attack.

Concealed Additives
Dealers often add bulking agents to increase the perceived weight and quantity of cocaine. Smokable cocaine has many of the same additives as cocaine hydrochloride, including atropine, benzocaine, caffeine, diltiazem, lignocaine, and levamisole.
Dealers choose their additives based on how similar it looks to cocaine and how cheap it is, not how healthy it is. Additives are unpredictable and often cause serious adverse events.

Cooking Crack Cocaine | How Is Crack Made?
Modifying or cooking cocaine changes the physical properties of the drug, creating crack in the process. But, how is crack cocaine cooked? And, why modify cocaine in this way?
What Is Crack Cocaine?
Crack cocaine is a modified, freebase form of the stimulant drug cocaine hydrochloride (or powder cocaine). Crack resembles small, off-white, crystalline rocks. If you press one of these crack rocks to your tongue, it will cause a numbing sensation due to the drug’s anesthetic effects.
Crack, unlike powder cocaine, does not dissolve in water or alcohol and is smoked rather than injected or inhaled. Smoking crack delivers a massive dose of the drug from the lungs to the brain within seconds.
Any form of cocaine is considered a schedule II controlled substance. Crack first appeared in the United States in the early 1980s and its use quickly became widespread, especially in urban areas.
How Crack Is Made
Crack cocaine is made by modifying powdered cocaine to extract the base cocaine, changing the drug’s physical qualities.
It Starts With Cocaine
To produce cocaine, leaves from the coca plant are harvested in South America, primarily in Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru.
Cocaine may be modified by drug dealers into crack cocaine in batches before or after being smuggled across international borders, and some consumers even choose to convert small amounts of cocaine powder into crack cocaine at home.
Modifying Cocaine To Produce Crack
Making crack cocaine with baking powder is a relatively simple process. The drug is mixed into a solution of water and either sodium bicarbonate (baking soda, though ammonia may sometimes be used instead) and boiled until a solid substance is formed and removed from the mixture.
Once the freebase cocaine dries, it is broken into chunks (rocks) and used or sold.
Crack Cocaine Vs. Powdered Cocaine
Cocaine is converted into crack cocaine in order for the drug to be smoked/freebased, rather than snorted.
The effects of cocaine are generally slower and milder when the drug is snorted, as the drug enters the bloodstream more slowly.
Smoking crack, on the other hand, causes a shorter-lived but faster and much more intense high. This euphoria or rush is a driving force for addiction and the repeated use of crack cocaine.
Why Can’t Cocaine Be Smoked?
Because cocaine powder is water soluble it’s easy to inhale and absorb through the blood vessels of the nose, or to prepare for IV injection. But cocaine powder is not good for smoking due to its extremely high melting point of 197 degrees °C.
If you try to smoke cocaine powder as-is, you’ll burn the drug off before it can reach your lungs.
Alternatively, crack cocaine melts at only 98 °C with a boiling point of 188 °C, which allows the drug to be easily vaporized and smoked using paraphernalia as simple as a handheld lighter and small glass pipe.

How to make cocaine
Cocaine use is ruining many lives, the social side effects of paying for an expensive addictive habit ruins society but it’s also disgusting all the crap they use to make cocaine. As it’s an illegal drug you have to take what you get: petrol, cement, calcium oxide, ammonia, H2SO4 and of course coca leaves. This video takes you through the process of from picking the leaves, chopping them, spraying them wth the above chemicals and filtering. Ugh. Everyone should see this video. It might stop someone experimenting with it in the first place.
The Swearing Lady has been reading about Cocaine use in Ireland and the UK. It’s being cut with carcinogenic chemicals to increase yields so on top of the chemicals above drug users are really f*cked. (via and I’d swear Damien linked to the movie a few days ago too)
Edit: the video that was here is long gone, but here’s a text description of how to make cocaine. Reminded me of Breaking Bad reading that.

Hey,
I just want to know if anyone had any contacts to dealers?
Ive been cut ive been cut off from mine and need a new one
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
That has got to be one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe anyone in their right mind would put something like that up their nose. Then again you have to be out of your mind in the first place to be putting something like that up your nose.
I thank you so much so teaching me how to do it. its not that i’m going to do it but its cause i have a final paper that is due and its on how to make cocaine and the abuse usage of it thanks so much…
i just spent 3 years in prison for possession of cocaine that was not mine. cocaine does not destroy your life, you do. there are no excuses. you make your choices and you live with them. i do not use cocaine every day, or for that matter every month, i nuse it when it is financialy viable. my preference is opiates. yet, i know the dangers and consequences of that also. i have seen the consequences of the irresponsible use of every substance known to man. i still firmly advocate the unrestricted legalization of EVERYTHING. it is noones reponsibility to protect me from myself especially not the governments.
pot doesn’t make you a boil on society’s ass…yeah right. you should get a load of my stoner roommates, who can’t hold a job or pay rent and are always mooching off people. then there’s the flunkies I went to school with, who are now stuck either working minimum wage jobs, or the streets, selling drugs/stolen goods/their ass. pot isn’t the benign happy-go-lucky shit everyone is duped into thinking it is. there’s a reason your parents told you not to smoke weed…that’s because cocaine is way better and makes society a utopian paradise. burn in hell, potheads.
weed, it is not a drug dumbass people
To this jessie person.. we all kno its a HERB. Usually drugs are made out of plant extracts…. soo ur the dumbass =] stating the obv.
how to make cocaine.. cool 🙂 i’m not an addict but i heard in high dosis cocaine can kill.. how great… i’ll make my own cocaine and then kill myself, literally
so cool thanks for teaching me this =)
i dont have one but iguess welll see
I love coke when I can get it and I don’t find
it addictive. it’s a nice change from drinking,
doing pot or taking e. As with anything else.. work, drink and drugs in moderation.
I had Coke before, but i prefer Pepsi. 😉
get a life ye losers
aahaha, you rock (y)
this is a good video to stop making people do cocaine.u should write more about this so people can see what they are doing, and what is going to happend to them and there cosicqensis with the law.
dont do drug’s peps its bad =[.
fuck all that shit this is an easy ass way to get some money!! hell ya!!
all u bitches who oppose drugs – think of it this way. nicotine, alcohol, and weed are drugs. me, for one, would give up my left nut to legalize weed. coke on the other hand is different. i’ll do coke 24/7 if i could. im not addicted. i’ve been offered the shit many times and passed on it. then again, i’ve smoked the shit, snorted, seen ppl shoot it up, etc. it all depends on the user. you can have 2 completely different people from 2 completely different regions, who’ve tried the shit, smoked/snorted the same amount of shit, and have 2 completely different views.
mate, i agree with u entirely. i don’t believe in that idiotic gateway theory either, the only thing thats true about that is that there is a trend. my best friend doesn’t smoke anything and never has done, but he’s tried coke and ecstasy. i was a habitual cocaine user for 7 months then abstained from everything for 4 months due to an overdose and residual panic disorder. I have been doing it since the age of 16. now im 19 and only do it when i get offered it when im drunk and stoned. also, i was a 15 a day joint smoker for 2 years, and had been a heavy drinker too. having just turned 19, i regret every night out the morning after. i wish i could quit cigarettes too, but im also doing an intense gym routine for rugby simultaneously. that and studies has me stressed beyond belief. it started all in this order for me: alcohol, cigarettes, weed, mescaline, coke, lsd, mdma, ecstasy pills (i have no idea whats in them, possibly: piperazine, 2-cb, pma, dxm, caffeine…etc), speed, ketamine, crack. mdma and weed are the only “illicit” drugs i like, and both proven to be safer than either alcohol or cigarettes. having come from a very conservative background, it really makes one realise how every government skull-fucks the public by all the propaganda that they spoon feed us. i’m not a bad person for doing drugs, in fact im thankful for the inciteful experiences, character-building and increased social confidence they provided. but also they took their toll (cocaine in particular) on me. stay safe and don’t be subject to peer pressure.
as Rick James once said – “Cocaine is a helluva drug”
i think u shud all take crack an cocaine and smack an smoke weed then \after u all got ya self high as fu c k go out side an do a bit of braek dancing wiv ur nans cuz its been a long time since ya nans beein in here wheel chair an she is going to die of swineflu pretty soon an hersmack head of a husband been ur grandads are going to play wiv lil black kids so stop feelin sry for ur selfs and get on wiv ur sad lil lives u bunch of monkey d i c k chicken nuts crinkled balled anal gagin retardsnall my love penis quaker xx msg bk if u disagree thx
i’ve done it, and its not worth the high. If you wanna TRY it, by all means, go for it under the circumstances that you have self-control. If you have no self-control, its not your drug, and you should never try it. Its a one shot deal to have one night of done- i live by “you only live once”, but the idea is to keep living after and cocaine will kill you. I’ve done it, and regardless of what pople say, its not hard to stop if you want to, quit while your ahead and save yourself. be successful, and stay in school.
coke can be cleaned with acetone to make in nearly 100% pure!
google search – cocaine acetone wash
Fuck. I’m realy tired of people typing “u”, instead of “you”. Does it realy take that much of your time to type out the whole word?? And if you want to learn more about coke, figure it out on the street, and don’t be a pussy…
one thing you shouldnt do drugs…and where do you get them..smart ass
Greetings drug users and abusers,
It saddens me deeply to observe young persons wasting away their lives by consuming such toxic and destructive drugs. I too, know the effects of the drugs mentioned and discussed above, and I am telling you know, it is not worth the ‘high’ that you achieve. In closing, get help! You have the power to save your life, so what are you waiting for? Put the needles, pills and powder away. That is all.
No matter what you say or how you look at it… there`s drugs everywhere whether it`s a cup of coffee or a drink at the pub.
The word (DRUGS) kind of almost sounds scary even lets say for example (MEDICINE) which in itself is another term for drugs, drugs that help us get better, that are tested and produced in the highest standards by pharmacutical companies worldwide for over the counter or presription by a health care professional. These Drugs along with the ones we don`t even notice depending on your country are being sold and taxed with money for the government`s pockets of coarse to be used for what we hope is necessary but ooh they get so furious when there is so much more activity-illegal drugs which we can`t make any money from which are tearing lives apart… Think about it…… most of these lives torn apart may have allready been torn apart and they need an escape… just like nearly any kind of drug there is a positive and negative reaction in certain situations, lets say the drug is wearing off,you need more money to support your habit/addiction,you resort to desperation to keep yourself in some situations just on the level (normal) so in effect if you might reach a stage where you`ve figured out a differant aproach to your situation and had it have worked you would be back to normal without a bloodthirsty monkey on your back if it had ever reached such a stage.
Recreational drug use can be as fun as doing something really fun or 🙂 make it more fun. In conclusion – go ahead have fun if you use drugs to do so be responsible and don`t do it because you might think you`ll be viewed as cool, myself I view anyone or friend who turns down an offer and doesn`t want to have anything to do with drugs with a good feeling because it`s their choice and they`ve made it… Guns don`t kill people and in a sence neither do drugs.
Wait… I know what you`re thinking and I think that`s kind of lame too guns/drugs… What if you buy a shite gun and it backfires or your child finds it and accidentally blows your head off plus what if you took drugs and overdosed or chose to take a drug that you happen to be allergic to… Who knows…
Cocaine
A white powder stimulant that is normally snorted or rubbed into the gums.
Quick info
How the drug works varies from person to person
How it looks, tastes and smells
What does it look like?
There are three types of cocaine: coke, crack and freebase.
What does it taste/smell like?
Cocaine powder has a bitter ‘chemical’ taste and smell, while crack cocaine can smell like burnt plastic or rubber.
How do people take it?
By snorting it as a powder
Most people snort cocaine – they crush it into a fine powder, divide it into lines and snort it through the nose. This is the most common way to take cocaine.
Snorting cocaine can damage your nose, especially if it’s not been chopped very finely. Some people find that switching between nostrils helps, and some people rinse out their nostrils with water or saline solution after taking it.
By smoking it as crack or freebase
Crack or freebase can be smoked through a glass pipe, tube, plastic bottle or in foil, but this is less common.
By injecting it
Powdered coke and crack can be prepared to make a solution for injecting, which is much more dangerous than snorting or smoking cocaine.
How it feels
How does it make you feel?
Taking cocaine can make you feel:
How does it make people behave?
Cocaine affects people differently, but most users become:
Some people become:
Duration
How long the effects last and the drug stays in your system depends on how much you’ve taken, your size and what other drugs you may have also taken.
To kick in
When snorted, cocaine can take from around 5 to 30 minutes to kick in, whereas the effects of smoking crack are almost instant.
How long it lasts
The initial high from cocaine doesn’t last that long, around 20 to 30 minutes – although this depends on the purity of the cocaine and the person’s tolerance. You might still experience some physical effects after the high has gone, such as a faster heart beat.
The effects of smoking crack are even shorter lasting, around 10 minutes, with the peak lasting for about two minutes after smoking it.
After effects
Some people find that cocaine makes them feel down, anxious and paranoid the next day, or longer.
How long will it be detectable?
Cocaine can be detected in a urine test for up to 3 days after snorting it.
How long a drug can be detected for depends on how much is taken and which testing kit is used. This is only a general guide.
The risks
Physical health risks
Cocaine is risky for anyone with high blood pressure or a heart condition, but even healthy young people can have a fit, heart attack or stroke after using the drug.
The risk of overdose increases if you mix cocaine with other drugs or alcohol.
Over time, snorting cocaine damages the cartilage in your nose that separates your nostrils. Heavy users can lose this cartilage and end up with one large nostril and a misshapen nose.
Taking cocaine when pregnant can damage your baby, cause miscarriage, premature labour and low birth weight.
Regularly smoking crack can cause breathing problems and pains in the chest.
Injecting cocaine can damage veins and cause ulcers and gangrene. Sharing needles or other injecting equipment can spread HIV and hepatitis infections too. It’s also easier to overdose from injecting cocaine.
Speedballing (injecting a mixture of cocaine and heroin) can have fatal results. A form of heroin called white heroin, is easily mistaken for cocaine and people have died or been hospitalised after snorting it thinking it was cocaine.
Mental health risks
Regular use of cocaine can make people feel:
Cocaine can bring previous mental health problems to the surface too, and if a relative has had mental health problems, there might be an increased risk for you.
Social risks
Frequent users find they begin to crave more of the drug – so it can become an expensive habit to keep up with.
Environmental risks
Cocaine doesn’t just damage the people who take it. It wrecks the communities that it’s grown in and leads to deforestation. Find out more about how cocaine wrecks communities.
What is cocaine cut with?
The purity of cocaine goes up and down depending on the market.
A wrap of cocaine powder can be cut with many things, such as sugar or starch, but benzocaine is the most common.
Benzocaine is a local anaesthetic that produces a numbing effect similar to cocaine, but without the cocaine high.
Mixing
Is it dangerous to mix with other drugs?
Mixing drugs is always risky but some mixtures are more dangerous than others.
Alcohol and cocaine together can be particularly dangerous, for example. Once they mix together in the body they produce a toxic chemical called cocaethylene.
Cocaethylene stays in the body much longer than cocaine or alcohol alone, and this increases the damage done to the heart and liver.
Addiction
Can you get addicted?
Yes, cocaine is very addictive. This is because regular use changes the way the brain releases dopamine, a brain chemical that makes you feel happy.
Cocaine is mostly known for causing psychological dependence (addiction), but users can sometimes continue to use cocaine just to overcome the negative after effects of using. This can lead to a binge pattern of use and increase the risk of dependence.
The law
This is a Class A drug, which means it’s illegal to have for yourself, give away or sell.
Possession can get you up to 7 years in prison, an unlimited fine or both.
Supplying someone else, even your friends, can get you life in prison, an unlimited fine or both.
Like drink-driving, driving when high is dangerous and illegal. If you’re caught driving under the influence, you may receive a heavy fine, driving ban, or prison sentence.
If the police catch people supplying illegal drugs in a home, club, bar or hostel, they can potentially prosecute the landlord, club owner or any other person concerned in the management of the premises.

Freebasing Cocaine | Effects & Dangers Of Smoking Cocaine
There is no safe way to use cocaine. Whether the drug is sniffed, snorted, injected, or smoked, cocaine is habit-forming and dangerous.
Smoking cocaine is a harmful way of drug abuse because smoking increases cocaine’s potency and addictive potential. It can also cause significant harm to the lungs and breathing over time.
What Is Freebase Cocaine?
Most illicit cocaine bought and sold on the street in the United States comes in the form of cocaine hydrochloride, or a white powder. Cocaine hydrochloride has a boiling point of around 356 °F, which is hot enough to destroy the drug before it can be inhaled to affect the body.
Freebasing is the process of removing or freeing the alkaloid ‘base’ cocaine from the hydrochloride salt, removing impurities, and concentrating the drug to lower its boiling point to only 176 °F, which is low enough to be smoked.
Early on, this freebasing process involved ammonia and an explosive form of ether. But around the 1970s, crack cocaine became a more popular alternative as it is far safer and easier to produce.
What Is Crack Cocaine?
Crack is made by modifying cocaine hydrochloride with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Crack cocaine comes in white-colored crystallized chunks, nuggets, or rocks.
It gets its name from the cracking and popping noises crack cocaine crystals make when heated, usually in a glass pipe.
Is Freebasing Cocaine The Same As Smoking Crack?
Freebasing refers to any process that purifies a drug and increases its potency. However, the term is used to describe smoking drugs in general, including smoking crack cocaine.
Short-Term Effects Of Smoking Cocaine
Any form of cocaine use puts intense stress on the body, mind, and heart, and its stimulating effects are strong enough that cocaine use can cause sudden death from strokes, cardiac arrest, or seizures.
Long-Term Health Risks Of Smoking Cocaine
Using cocaine by any method outside a medical environment is drug abuse and puts the body at risk. Long-term health effects of smoking cocaine can include:
Binging & Crashing
Once the effects of cocaine wear off you will likely experience a long, drawn-out comedown or crash that can leave you feeling paranoid, miserable, and exhausted. Many who use cocaine will try to avoid this crash by taking repeated doses, sometimes for days at a time.
But, a cocaine binge puts the body under intense stress and can expose you to dangerous symptoms of exhaustion, malnourishment, and psychosis.
Lung Damage
‘Crack lung’ describes the worrying physical harm that toxic cocaine vapors can have on the lungs and breathing performance.
You may experience difficulty breathing, coughing fits, fevers, fluid buildup in the lungs, or you may even cough up blood due to hemorrhages/bleeding inside the lungs.
Heart Problems
Smoking cocaine puts stress on the heart, leading to long-term cardiovascular problems. This may include elevated blood pressure, arrhythmia (irregular or elevated heart rate), chest pain, heart attack, stroke, and congestive heart failure.
Brain & Nervous System Damage
Long-term cocaine use can damage brain functions including decision making, memory, and motor control, and may lead to the development of Parkinson’s disease.
Overdose
Cocaine overdoses involve both physical and psychological symptoms, which may include:
Cocaine overdoses can be fatal or cause permanent harm and disability. If you suspect one has occurred, summon emergency medical care immediately.
Addiction
As with injection, smoking cocaine delivers a very high dose of the drug directly into the bloodstream, heightening its effects and increasing the likelihood of cravings and addiction.
