How to trade pokemon on emulator

How can I trade Pokemon between my 3DS and my PC?

On one hand I have Sapphire on my PC, running with VBA emulator, and on the other I have Pokemon X on my 3DS. I wanted to trade several Gen 3 and lower Pokemon between them, but couldn’t find out how. I tried to connect the 3DS to my PC with a USB cable, but it still didn’t help. On the 3DS I found you can switch with wireless connection, but since I dont have another 3DS, I dont see how it helps.

Is there such an option? And if so, how do I do this?

No. Let’s break this down a little:

At no point along these steps is there a legitimate means to transfer Pokemon from a ROM on your PC to the official game cartridges.

They lie!

Yes, it was possible until 5th generation and they work on it for the 6th, too.

WARNING: These are non-official tools which aim to be legitimate, but can’t prove they really are.

So this can be a possibility that you again create your emulation-Pokémons and transfer them to your gambling device.

I can not recommend this, as I can’t tell what happens. You can upload legitimate Pokémon, which may be undetectet. But you also can create impossibly strong Pokémons which naturally won’t occure. I don’t know what Nintendo does with such bad, bad people. So be aware.

I would recommend you to use Wondertrade or the GTS of the 6th gen. With Wondertrade it’s easy to get all starter Pokémons, Evees and so on. In GTS you can search for a desired Pokémon (scroll at the end of the alphabet there).

When Pokémon Bank opens at last, there will be those missing Pokémons, too, so just be patient for them.

Is it possible to trade Pokemon from one Nintendo DS emulator to another?

Is it possible to trade Pokemon from say, my phone’s NDS Emulator to a PC NDS Emulator, in order to evolve for Pokemon like Slaking or Garchomp?

I’m using NDS on my phone and Desmume on PC.

Since networking is disabled on emulators, it is not possible.

Desmume website states that wifi is not emulated and not supported. I assume the case is the same with the other emulator.

There are emulators that can emulate multiple machines at once.

This means that you can play the same game on four virtual machines that are connected, if memory serves me right.

I recall that this is possible in the «no$gba» emulator. This will give you the Pokemon available via trading, but if there are Pokemon only available in the other game version of said generation, you won’t be able to get those.

You can with PokeGen

Although unofficial it accomplishes the same thing exact thing in the end.

PokeGen is a Windows Utility that allows you to edit the save file of NDS Pokemon games.

You can also Generate Action Replay Codes, modify the PokeDex, add Wonder Cards, edit Items, and edit C-Gear skins.

Just make sure the OT (Original Trainer), where it was caught, cartridge version, etc., match what you want.

You can manually trade all the way from first generation to the latest version. Depending on how anal you want to be you can follow this extremely long, detailed, and interesting tutorial

This is the only way to move Pokemon from one emulator save to another.

Pokemon 4th Gen: Is there a way to trade pokemon on emulator after GTS shutdown?

I am playing Pokemon Diamond on Desmume and have a few Pokemon in my team that can only be evolved through trading. For the guides I found online that teach how to do trading using a emulator, all of them involves simulating a wifi connection and connect to GTS. However, GTS has been shutdown for generation IV already. So this method is no longer working.

I heard that if I have 2 real NDS in a close range (e.g. in the same room), I can still trade Pokemon on generation IV by using friend code. Is this true? And how can I simulate that using emulator (not restricted to Desmume)?

If you are an end-user, then we strongly discourage the use of Wi-Fi. However, as an end-user, if you really want to use Wi-Fi that badly, then you are on your own. In that case, any posts on our forums about Wi-Fi being used by end-users for end-user applications (such as wanting to trade Pokemon) will be ignored. Also, any submissions to any of our SourceForge trackers under the same conditions will be immediately closed without further consideration. When we say that Wi-Fi is unsupported, we mean it.

Short answer: no, it’s currently not possible, at least, not with DeSmuMe.

I googled around a little, and stumbled on this gbatemp forum thread. I cannot try it, but you might want to give melonDS a try, since it also mentions successful Pokemon Trade.

(I’m not entirely sure whether I’m allowed to link to those sites, do let me know if I’m not)

I’m not sure if I have the right thread or not. I think it may be right.

If I am playing Pokémon Roms (not hacks) through an emulator
Such as Leaf Green for GBA with a GBA Emulator
Is it possible to trade pokemon from this generations using an emulator to the next generation
Such as Heartgold or Soul Silver for example
From FR/LG to HG/SS I know you can do it with the physical copies and hardware; original DS.
So not sure if there has been an emulator designed to compliment this feature like this as well.

If you want to move Gen 1 or Gen 2 to Gen 3 and beyond, that’s quite a bit more complicated, needing save editors and stuff to get the raw Pokémon’s data.

Wow thanks for the quick and informative response!
Yeah I’m replaying the Pokémon Games and would like to keep my team and trade them up eventually to my hard copy of Alpha Saphire.

I’m actually on a MacBook OS X.
I tried installing this program
Gen 1 2 3 Pokemon Editor and Converter for Windows + Mac OS X
but after installing it and trying to run it, it told me that the file was damaged and it needed to be moved to the trash.

What’s the current best pokemon converter.
I can run DeSmuMe on my Macbook?

Short answer: As long as youre working with generation 3, 4 or 5, its possible. (Gba and nds games)
Generations 1 and 2 wont work. (Gb and gbc) neither will gen 6 (3ds)

Long answer: See daxtsu’s answer above about using your emulator to link games. You can move gen 3 to gen 4 easily. The following method may also work to move from gen 3 to gen 4, but im pretty sure gen3 pkm files arent directly compatable with higher generations.

Once the pokemon is in gen 4, it should be easy to extract the pkm file from the gen 4 sav file using pokesav. And just import it into the sav of the gen 5 game using pokesav. (There are different pokesav programes for each game).

You will not be able to move pokemon from gen 5 to gen 6 using an emulator. This is because pokemon are stored differently from before and there is no easy way to transfer them over with that method. However, if you have access to a physical gen 5 game, you can inject your emulator sav file into the physical cart using a variety of methods. And then transfer them legitimately to gen 6.
See the answer above about pkhex. I dont know much about it, but if its an exe, you can use wine or vmware to run it on osx.

I will also mention that it will be completely impossible to move pokemon from gen1 or 2 to any higher generation. This is because pokemon data is stored in a different manner to make up for abilities, and the special stat split and a whole host of other things (thats the short answer) you could attempt to recreate the pokemon using a pokesav for the generation you want, but you will have to make up/guestimate iv and ev values.

Im on mobile and so I cant give you all the links you might need, but they will be super easy to find if you use google.

Almost all of these programs are windows programs btw, definately look into getting wine, or windows xp running in a virtual machine on your mac. I use winebottler for most of my exe files. There are some that just dont work, so I just use an old junk laptop I have for those

How To Trade Pokemon Using No$GBA

I’ve been a fan of pokemon for ages. However, back in the day it’s hard to find fellow gamers who play it simple because they think Pokemon is a bit of childish way, long journey and tedious. So, I had never using the trade feature of the game.

But these days, where many gadgets are strong enough to emulate older machine system, I’ve found myself re-playing again many old games, including Pokemon. And how happy I am that I no longer need someone else GBA to trade pokemon.

I’d like to show you how to trade pokemon using GBA emulator that is No$GBA. Should you in need for that emu, just google it and you’ll find it in no time. IMHO, No$GBA is a pretty decent emu, and its easier to do the trade.

Preparations

1. You should have a copy of Pokemon Rom for GBA. This tutorials only cover third-gen Pokemon (Ruby-Sapphire-Emerald). You may trade between gen but that’s another catch.

2. You should have a game-save or ongoing quest where trading pokemon is available at Pokemon Center. And of course, since it’s trading, you should also have some pokemon to trade.

How To Do it

1. Open No$GBA. Uncheck the Autostart Catridge and drop down to choose 1st Machine

2. Choose the first Game (for example game one is Emerald)

3. Now, Set the control-setup as you wish for both player 1 and player 2

4. Right Click on the game and choose LINK. Your No$GBA screen should be like this :

5. Click on FILE and Choose FILE LIST and drop down 2nd Machine. Don’t forget to uncheck Autostart

6. Now, Again choose FILE but now choose FILENAME and choose your second game (in this example, Pokemon Ruby). Notice that now you’re on 2nd Machine :

8. Now go to POKEMON CENTER and go up stair to the Trade System. By the way, it’s easier if you already save both game at the Pokemon Center 😀
