According to the diagram, Instagram tops the list with 33% of the adolescents in Zetland using it. Snapchat is the second most popular social media platform chosen by 32% of the surveyed. It should be noted that only 3% of the respondents like Twitter.
The polling percentage shows that using Instagram is almost 10 times more popular than Twitter and this is not surprising. Instagram offers such features as liking comments, replying to specific comments, asking questions and taking polls in Stories as well as sending direct messages. Unexpectedly, Facebook also seems to be one of the least preferred social media services with 5% of the surveyed.
Although social media applications seem to be more a friend than a foe, overusing them causes people to spend less time interacting face-to-face and this seems to be a problem. To solve the problem, people should try to meet more often offline. Seeing each other lets people pick up body language and therefore understand one another better.
To conclude, I believe that social media are extremely important for teenagers: they help them study, get entertained, share the latest news, socialize, make new friends and always stay in touch with their families, friends, teachers, etc. (243 words)
40.2 Listening to music has benefits for learning, mental health, and physical well-being. While doing a project on what pieces of classical music people in Zetland can recognize when they hear them, I found a diagram containing some relevant data that I am going to comment on.
According to the diagram, the residents of Zetland are well acquainted with the music by Ludwig van Beethoven because 36% of them can easily recognize Fur Elise and 30% can identify Ode to Joy. It can also be seen that very few people know Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov and Clair de Lune by DeBussy with 4% and 2% of the respondents respectively.
The data analysis reveals that Wedding March by Mendelson, recognized by 28% of the surveyed, is only by 2% less famous than Ode to Joy by Beethoven. However, it is surprising that Clair de Lune by DeBussy is the least recognizable piece of music.
Although classical music has been time-tested, it is not favoured by teenagers and hence their emotional intellect does not develop properly. This definitely seems to be a problem. This problem can be solved by introducing compulsory music lessons in high school and by making TV adverts featuring celebrities listening to classical music. This could really encourage younger people to start liking listening to it.
In conclusion, I believe that listening to classical music is really important as its calming effect takes away nervousness, and can help you cope with stress. (244 words)

Imagine that you are doing a project on why teenagers take a part-time job in Zetland. You have found some data on the subject — the results of the opinion polls (see the diagram below). Comment on the data in the diagram and give your opinion on the subject of the project. Write 200−250 words. Use the following plan: — make an opening statement on the subject of the project; — select and report 2−3 facts; — make 1−2 comparisons where relevant; — outline a problem that can arise with a part-time job and suggest a way of solving it; — conclude by giving your opinion on the role of a part-time job in teenagers’ life. According to the data, there is quite a wide range of reasons why younger generation is fond of video games. It is clear that looking for entertainment is at the top of the table, 46% of the respondents named it. Making new friends is also quite popular answer with 21%, whereas improving mental skills, developing hand-eye coordination and seeking relaxation appear to be the least popular reasons to play computer games. It is worth mentioning that entertainment is two times more important for the adolescents than their self-development, such as improving mental skills and hand-eye coordination. Obviously, teenagers play computer games in their free time and they just want to have fun. One problem that is usually associated with playing video games is a lot of violence they consume. So that young people may become aggressive gaming computer. One solution to this problem is to limit the access to these games for teenagers by law. In conclusion, I think that computer games play an important role in teenagers’ life. All the more, there are different kinds of educational games. (228 words) 40.2 Recent studies show that teenagers think about taking a part-time job more often nowadays. The aim of the project I am currently working on is to find out why young people take a part-time job in Zetland. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some relevant data presented in the diagram. According to the data, there is quite a wide range of reasons what can motivate adolescents to spend their free time on working. It is clear that getting pocket money is the most popular answer, 40% of the respondents named it. Also, nearly a quarter of the teenagers (24%) start working in order to get work experience. At the same time, younger generation is not very interested in testing themselves. It is worth mentioning that the teenagers think about acquiring new skills as well as learning more about different jobs almost three times less often than about pocket money they could get. Obviously, the adolescents in general do not consider their part-time job to become a way to start a career. One problem can arise with a part-time job is that teenagers usually perform poorly at school. The main reason is that the adolescents cannot manage their time well, as a result they have not enough time to do their homework. One solution to this problem is to organize special centres where professionals help teenage workers with time management to be sure they can be successful in all this. In conclusion, I firmly believe that a part-time job plays an important role in teenagers’ life. All the more, younger generation could get a great experience doing it. (271 words)
