Made in Abyss season 2 is happening. Made in Abyss S2 was announced and confirmed a while ago. Even though the release has gotten delayed due to COVID, the season 2 is coming sooner or later.

The story follows the journey of two children, Riko and Reg, as they venture into the unknown and alluring monstrosity of a deep structure that expands towards the bottom of the Earth. The enchanting as well as the dangerous hole, known as the Abyss.

‘Made in Abyss’ Season 2 Returns in July; Teasers, Visuals and More Updates

Made in Abyss is returning to unfold the mysteries of the abyss and inflict even more pain to the already open wound.

Made in Abyss perfectly fits the phrase ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. Don’t let these cute little chibi-style 10 years old fool you, they have gone through more pain and suffering than most of any other anime character.

In season 2 we’re expected to meet the princess of Narehate and a few more new characters as the triad enters the sixth layer of the abyss.

Season 2 of Made in Abyss will adapt the Ilblu Arc since the Dawn of the Deep Soul movie adapted the preceding Ido Front Arc.

Two compilation films adapting the original anime, Journey’s Dawn and Wandering Twilight, premiered in Japan back in January, with a U.S. release following in March. An official sequel was announced as well, so the series will continue, just perhaps not in the way viewers were expecting. The movie, which will be called Dawn of the Deep Soul, is set to release on January 2020 in Japan and will probably arrive in the U.S. a few months later. With the focus on a sequel film, it seems unlikely production on Made In Abyss season 2 would start any time before late 2020 or early 2021.

Rico is a real maximalist, able to become a collective image of every child and adult. Everyone will be able to find in it similar features, which further allows to penetrate the history of the heroine and empathize literally every minute. Despite all this, the girl’s character does not look contradictory, and all her actions have quite healthy, conscious and understandable for the viewer’s motives.

Watching the heroine, the audience periodically experience painfully familiar sensations. There is a sudden joy and admiration for the world, which is still so unusual and mysterious. This feeling is sometimes replaced immediately by unbearable anguish and despair, because despite all the miracles, this life is full of grief and injustice. Everyone ever came across this, is not it?

The rest of the characters are well written out and understandable to the viewer. Everyone has his own shortcomings, and every act is committed for certain reasons told earlier. Children in this world do not have “rose-colored glasses” and grow up literally in front of their eyes, accepting really weighted and adult decisions.
