There are tons of things to do in Nier: Automata, from collecting weapons and trophies/achievements to reeling in robot fish. How Long Does It Take To Complete The Main Storyline?

Nier: Automata is different than most games in that getting to the credits is really only the first part of the game’s story. If you play through the game at a casual pace, doing some side quests and upgrading a few weapons, it should take you roughly 21 hours to complete the first ending.

However, Nier: Automata’s story doesn’t end the first time you see the credits roll. Completing the story for the first time as 2B will grant you ending A, but the game still has 25 other unique endings. Endings A through E are considered part of the game’s main story, while endings F through Z are side endings that aren’t necessarily plot-relevant.

I reached A ending and started B run and now am back on the space station with B2. To be honest my motivation to go on again is limited, given that there are other games.

So two questions:

1. How long does it take. I played about 20h up to this point. Does each run take that long?
2. Is it really worth it? I like the game, and it seems interesting. But so far i failed to notice the ‘ingeniouity’. I love what they did with changes of perspective (camera), and i guess these repeated runs with different characters are a change of perspective of another kind. But still, i found the city rather bland, and the sidequests rather boring. So anyone having some convincing argument or advice (spoil with YT?)?

I completed all main endings in 38 hours. Going for 100% completion will take longer, but I had most of the content completed in that time. Since completed quests, items, exp, gold, etc. are carried over, your next runs will be a little shorter, especially the second playthrough.

The second playthrough (route B) is mostly a retelling from 9S’s perspective, with a little more added to the story. The third playthrough (Route C or D) continues the story and really should not be missed. Whichever ending you may have missed (C/D and E) can be obtained in a couple of minutes after the third playthrough completes.

Basically, if you’re this far in, you should at least complete the story; even if it means mostly ignoring quests and just sprinting from main objective to main objective.

1. Route B is basically route A with minor differences. Since quest progression is shared between the routes you’ll find that you can complete route B much faster. I doubt it will even take you 10 hours. Route C is probably the fastest one as it has the least amount of quests, and it can take 5-10 hours max I think. But Route C is COMPLETELY different from route A and B, it’s basically a continuation of the previous two routes.
