How to Make Someone an Admin in GMOD
GMOD (short for Garry’s Mod) is a Half-Life 2 modification where you can create videos, pictures and manipulate various in-game objects. When running your GMOD server, you need to decide who’ll be tasked with the admin role. But how exactly do you make someone admin in this game?
In this entry, we’ll explain how you can assign the admin role to other players in GMOD. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to grant other users previously inaccessible privileges.
How to Make Someone an Admin With GMOD ULX
ULX is an administrator mod that provides you with more control over the players in your GMOD server. It offers server admins AMXX-style support, enabling multiple administrators to access the same server on different levels.
There are three methods for making someone admin with GMOD ULX. Each requires you to enter a command.
The first command you can enter is “ulx adduser superadmin”. This command will need to be performed from your server console. You’ll also need to ensure you have a stable connection to the server. Furthermore, if you’re not the owner, i.e., you’re renting the server from third parties, you’ll need to use a different method.
The second method doesn’t require a connection to your server. Here’s what it looks like:
As you can see, you’ll need to know your Steam ID to apply this method. You must also use a proper format, such as STEAM_0:1:654321. If you can’t remember your Steam ID, take the following steps to reveal it:
If you’ve previously created a custom URL, you’ll need to perform a few extra steps to access your ID:
The first two techniques are the easiest ways to make someone an admin with ULX. However, there’s a third, more complicated method that requires you to mod the GMOD file. Here’s what it consists of:
A List of Admin Commands
GMOD ULX comes with a wide range of commands that facilitate player management and allow you to control disruptive servers. Since there are numerous commands, we’ll only list the most common ones that admins use on their servers and their functions
Additional FAQ
Can I Make Myself Admin in Single Player?
Granting yourself the admin role in single-player is possible through ULX. The easiest way to do it is to use your Web Console:
1. Log into your Game Panel and select your server.
2. Open your Commandline Manager to obtain your RCON password.
3. Return to the control panel and launch your Web Console.
4. Enter the RCON password into the box in the lower part of the screen.
5. Execute this command: “ ulx adduserid steamID super admin ”. Be sure to replace the “steamID” part with your Steam ID.
6. You should now see a message saying you’ve been granted the admin rank.
Can I Assign an Admin on My Local Network Game?
Unfortunately, you can’t assign an Admin in your local network games. An assignment can only be done on local multiplayer servers or dedicated servers.
Easy Access to Higher Privileges
Admins play a pivotal role in GMOD, controlling the environment of their servers by sanctioning unwanted behavior. Assigning this role is also relatively simple – all you need to do is bring up the console and enter a short line. Within seconds, you’ll enable yourself or another player admin privileges to ensure an enjoyable experience for all users.
Do you enjoy being the admin on your server? Have you considered delegating this responsibility to another player? If yes, which method do you prefer? Tell us in the comments section below.
Ulx how to give admin
Being and admin is a big responsibility, if you have never been a Gmod admin before, you owe it to your server and its users to read this guide and start your endless journey to becoming a pro.
Throughout this guide we will talk about two of the most widely used administrative mods in GMod and DarkRP (ULX and FAdmin). We will start from the very begining and work all the way up to the advanced console commands. We will also discuss the meaning of admin abuse, and where you should use your powers.

TIP: Any long term admin is advised to follow these first few steps!
Step 1: Opening the console
1: Click settings on your GMod home screen.
2: Click advanced.
3: Make sure ‘Enable Developer console’ is ticked.
Step 2: Binding the key
1: Hit the tilde button on your keyboard
TIP: It looks like this ‘
‘ or ‘¬’. It will be to the left of number ‘one’ on your keyboard’s numberline. Or, if you are not using a US layout keyboard you will sometimes have to use the actual tile button, this is usually located to the left of enter.
This opens the developer console.
2: Type the following into the command line:-
‘bind xgui
For instance if you wanted to bind your XGUI to the letter ‘j’ you would type:
‘bind j xgui’ (Don’t include Apostrophes)
In this section we will explore the most important commands in ULX.
Step 1: Open your ULX UI
Step 2: Expand the ‘Utility section’
Step 3: Click the Kick option
Step 4: Select the name of the player you need to kick
Step 5: Press the ULX Kick Button
This seems a little tedious, right? This is because some commands are easier to excecute from the chat. This is one of those commands. To kick a player without using the ULX UI simply type:
TIP: You don’t have to type out the whole player name. For instance if I was kicking ‘Steve’ I could type ‘!kick Stev’ However if there is anyone else in the server with a similar name they might be kicked too. So be careful using this option.
Sometimes players can use deliberatley comlex names with an asterix (*) In ULX an asterix means all players. If you see someone with this, simply use your UI as shown previously.
____________________________________________________________________________
Banning a player is another command that is sometime easier to execute from the chat:-
Time: ULX makes it easy to ban quickly. Lengths of time are represented by letters, as follows:
Hour = h
Day = d
Week = w
Year = y
All you have to do is put a number in front, for example:
‘!ban steve 1d’
‘!ban steve 2d 12h Prop Block’
TIP: Using no letter will default to minutes.
____________________________________________________________________________
There are two option in this section-gag and gimp:
ULX gag: Disables the players microphone in-game.
ULX gimp Disables the players ability to use chat.
In your UI, these comand are found in the utility section. Or you can use the commands:
!gag
To ungag or ungimp the players imply use:
!ungag
TIP: use an asterix (*) instead of a player name to ungag or ungimp all players.
Admins can bring and teleport players. It is really rather easy:-
In the ULX UI All teleport related commands are listed in the ‘Teleport’ section.
Tip: Immagine there is a ‘to’ in the middle of the two player names:
!send Steve (to) Paul
This would teleport Steve to Paul
Using the UI is similar, except you will need to find the player in question, in a list of online users. This can be usefull for players with complex names.
(This list was taken from the ULX website, and simply modified slightly by me.)
*Please note that many servers will allow theese comands only to Super-admin
This mod simply utilizes your TAB menu. When you hold TAB to see a list of players, you can click on the player to view more options.
Once you click on the player you will see more information on the player as well as options on them.
You can see their steam ID and their real steam name.
In DarkRP, when you’re admin on duty it can often be helpfull to vanish as not to disrupt the RP.
ULX gives this option however it is flawed as it can often not vanish you completely.
To use the FAdmin Vanish, simply click your player name in the TAB listing and hit the ‘vanish’ option. The button will now change to a red cross and you will be vanished.
Another very usefull feature is the ability to give yourself weapons with the ‘give weapons’ option. (Note that you will ussually require admin priverlages to enable this feature)
‘ after you have finished with them. This will return them to their previous location before they were teleported. This is handy as you are causing less impact on their RP experiance this way.
Another form of admin abusing would be putting printers in a ussually unreachable location and no-clipping to them to recieve their money.
If you want to abuse to get yourself rich, simply execute the command from the console:
**Note that these commands are often super-admin privileges.
This is the Frequently Asked Questions section.
If you want to submit your own question simply ask in the comments bellow and I will do my best to answer!

Summary:
1: Check who prop killed

To open up the Damagelogs, press F8 on your keyboard. RDM Manager tab is where you want to navigate to and it should look like this:
Everything should look self-explanatory, but I will go over the process of handling an RDM report. MAKE SURE TO HIGHLIGHT THE REPORT YOU ARE WORKING ON!!
When a RDM report comes in, you will be notified immediately with a very distinct sound and a notification that slides in from the right side of the screen. It is your job to settle the report and take necessary actions against the report players or, in some cases, the victims. Coordinate with your fellow admins on who should do which report in order to avoid confusion. Always listen to what both sides have to say before taking action. Admins should handle their own reports. When you’re finished with the report, make sure to set the status as finished to let the others know that it’s been done.
Set Conclusion: Prompts a pop-up box for you to set the conclusion of the report. It’s not necessary so it’s okay to leave it blank.
Force the reported player to respond: Forces them to respond to a report made against them. Used when reported players don’t respond to report after a round.
View Death Scene:: Views the death scene of the victim. Used to know exactly how the victim died, but it can be confusing to use.
Slay Next Round: Applies autoslay(s) to the reported player or victim, the number of times slain, and then the reason. It’s recommended that you enter your reason why they’re getting slain.
Slay The Reported Player Now: Slays the report player immediately. Rarely used. Used only when massive RDM is occurring.
Remove Slays of: Removes the slays of the victim or reported player.
The chat command for autoslay is !aslay
Use 0 rounds to remove all the slays and don’t include the signs.
Waiting: Sets the status to «Waiting». Never used.
In Progress: Sets the status to «In progress by
«. Used when the player is working on the report.
Finished: Sets the status to «Finished by
» Used when the player is finished with the report.
In the end, it should look something similar to this. It is important to set the status as finished, so don’t forget!
