WARNING: SPOILERS FROM JOJO’S BIZARRE ADVENTURES: EYES OF HEAVEN
Spoilers down here.
Heaven Ascension DIO originally existed in an alternate timeline in which the events of Stardust Crusaders ended with the annihilation of the entire Joestar bloodline. DIO succeeded in killing Jotaro Kujo, Joseph Joestar and the other members of the Joestar Group. Now free to pursue his original goals of «obtaining heaven», DIO collected the souls of the «36 Sinners» required alongside Enrico Pucci as he evolved his Stand and became the perfect being with godlike power, Heaven Ascension DIO. Now unrivaled and unstoppable, DIO proceeded to conquer the world and rewrote all of humanity so that they would worship him as their one true god.
Around this time, during the ending of Steel Ball Run, President Funny Valentine tried desperately to escape from the «infinite spin» set on him by Johnny Joestar. In the process, Valentine skipped through dimensions until he eventually arrived in Heaven Ascension DIO’s world. DIO used the power of his Stand, The World Over Heaven, to remove the infinite spin from Valentine and in return, Valentine told DIO of the Saint’s Corpse Parts and that his reality was merely an alternate branch of the main dimensional universe. Having already conquered his world and desiring the satisfaction of doing so to the original universe as well, DIO used his power to travel through dimensions; resurrecting his fallen acolytes and brainwashing new ones from other timelines to serve as his army.
DIO, armed with the Spine of the Saint’s Corpse, set his followers out to battle the Joestars and their allies. He patiently waited as his brainwashed minions were defeated one by one until the Joestars collected all of the remaining Corpse Parts. DIO then summoned the Joestar Group to his realm, where he easily defeated Gold Experience Requiem and Tusk ACT4. DIO stole the Corpse Parts from the group and planned on sacrificing them to perform the ritual of «obtaining heaven» all over again to increase his powers even further. However, Jotaro managed to hang on to his Corpse Part and escaped along with the others.
DIO, now irritated but still collected, spread out the Corpse Parts to his generals and sent them to eliminate the Joestar Group. In the meantime, DIO managed to discover that Valentine was secretly a turncoat and was trying to discover which of the Joestars possessed the power to defeat DIO. Confronting Valentine about his treachery, Valentine fought DIO throughout many dimensions but, in the end, lost. DIO, not wanting to waste such a powerful Stand user, offered Valentine forgiveness in exchange for his eternal loyalty. Valentine, however, retained his integrity and refused only to be swiftly killed by DIO and erased from existence. DIO then confided in his friend, Pucci, about how he was troubled over the Joestars in this timeline being more problematic than he anticipated. Pucci reassured him that everything would go according to his plans and went off to confront the Joestars himself. Pucci ultimately lost to Jotaro and his daughter, Jolyne Cujoh. As Jotaro questioned Pucci about the secret to DIO’s Stand, Pucci instead committed suicide while pledging his love and service to DIO even in death.
With Jotaro and the others having re-obtained the other Corpse Parts, they traveled to Cairo, where DIO planned to defeat them all in battle. DIO fought against Jotaro and Jolyne and subsequently lost. However, he negated the damage done to him using The World Over Heaven. Jotaro, now witnessing DIO’s power up close, discovered his Stand’s ability to overwrite reality itself through the use of its fists. DIO claimed that Jotaro knowing his secret was futile and banished the Joestars’ allies to other dimensions, allowing him to stall for time to charge The World Over Heaven’s power. With Jotaro and Jolyne staying behind to fight DIO, the other Joestars prepared to battle their brainwashed allies, only for Giorno Giovanna to realize too late that they had fallen into DIO’s trap. DIO unleashed the full power of The World Over Heaven and killed all of the Joestars and their allies before absorbing their souls into himself.
Now gloating over his imminent victory to Jotaro and Jolyne, DIO combined the Saint Corpse Parts with the 36 souls to ascend to an even greater form of existence, causing the very fabric of reality itself to start warping into DIO’s twisted vision. Jotaro and Jolyne teamed up to take down DIO but, while they managed to defeat him, it was only a brief victory as DIO healed himself once again and killed Jolyne with a single punch before absorbing her soul as well. DIO proceeded to deliver an apparently fatal blow to Jotaro as he gleefully relished in his assumed triumph. However, Jotaro mysteriously negated the damage done to himself, which caused DIO to recoil in shock. DIO remembered that Star Platinum and The World Over Heaven were still the same type of Stand and, as a result of DIO evolving his Stand, he had inadvertently caused Star Platinum to evolve as well.
Now armed with the power of Star Platinum Over Heaven, Jotaro regained his composure as DIO’s sanity began to crumble. DIO, now desperate to destroy Jotaro once and for all, unleashed a powerful attack, only to inadvertently punch the bracelets of the original timeline’s DIO. Jotaro had secretly acquired these bracelets after Valentine informed him that, if two identical objects from different dimensions were to collide, they would violently cancel each other out. The bracelets fused with DIO’s current ones and exploded, resulting in both of his arms being destroyed and rendering him powerless. DIO desperately tried to use his own blood to blind Jotaro, however the attempt proved futile; just as it did in the original timeline. Mirroring his original downfall, Jotaro delivered a decisive punch to DIO, which caused his entire body to break down and explode as hundreds of souls poured out of him.
As a result of Heaven Ascension DIO’s death, a new timeline was created where the events of Eyes of Heaven never took place, yet every heroic fatality throughout the original universe’s parts was negated. This ultimately resulted in a universe where none of the Joestars and their allies died, bringing about an era of peace.

Abilities
Stand
DIO’s evolved Stand, The World Over Heaven, in addition to his ability to stop time, can now overwrite reality itself as well(but if he loses the use of his hands he can no longer do this until he heals himself). This also allows him to rewrite anything within any timeline (except for changing his Stand’s range), granting him godlike power.
The World Over Heaven also retains The World’s original super strength, speed, and incredible precision, but more enhanced than Part 4 Jotaro’s Star Platinum: The World.
Personal
DIO in his ascended form has the powers of teleportation, instantaneous regeneration, resurrecting the dead, mind control and can summon lightning bolts to attack and target his opponents. He also appears to have the ability of dimensional travel, similar to Funny Valentine’s D4C.
This form, however, is not exempt from the rules of D4C’s dimension hopping. As no two versions of the same person or thing can co-exist in the same dimension, should Part 3 DIO or something connected to him, like his golden bracelet rings, come in contact with Heaven Ascension DIO or their matching item, both versions will collide and destroy each other. Jotaro exploited this when he shattered Heaven Ascension DIO’s arms with the aforementioned Part 3 DIO’s bracelet rings.

Heaven Ascension DIO
Heaven Ascension DIO is one of the hardest bosses in the game, with approximately 600 HP.
You must defeat him in order to obtain his Bone, a vital component for evolving C-Moon into Made In Heaven and The World into The World Over Heaven in The Heaven’s Plan.
You will be assigned to defeat him after talking with JOE and bringing him all 4 of the Saint’s Corpse Parts.
Entering DIO’s Realm
JOE and Player will be teleported to Heaven Ascension DEO’s Realm. You will see that you are in a purple-colored dimension with Heaven Ascension DIO across from you and JOE.
Behavior
Randomly when Heaven Ascension DIO is from a far distance, he will Time Skip behind you and perform either a barrage, stand barrage finisher, or smite.
DIO will attempt to break your block by your behavior, whenever you’re blocking, DIO will either Time Skip behind you and use a heavy punch, or worse, Heaven Ascended Smite as both will instantly break block. DIO also will sometimes approach you with a heavy punch, or 4 M1s and then a heavy punch.
DIO will also always does his Barrage and then a Barrage Finisher, this is easy to parry, all you have to do is to hold block once DIO finishes his barrage, or block his barrage and then parry the finisher.
When DIO is Half HP, he will begin to use his Reality Overwrite moves and will Time Stop very frequently. He will also start using the Self Injury Overwrite move on himself in order to heal.
Defeating DIO
You will now have to obtain DEO’s Bone to complete JOE’s quest. There is a 16% chance of the bone being dropped, so you may have to fight him multiple times.
Trivia
Tips and Tricks
Main Stand
Star Platinum:
You have to unlock all the moves, no need to max out rage and upgrade Stand Jump to III.
Star Finger is really helpful as it is a good stun when paired with Inhale. Jaw Breaker is also useful for ragdolling someone. Stand Jump will be very useful, along with Time Skip, because this will help keep distance from H.A.D.
SP+Boxing Combo: Star Finger+ Inhale + 4 LMB + Eye Gouge + Ora Kicks.
Once H.A.D gets ragdolled, he will time skip behind you within 3 seconds- Stand Jump in order to escape from this move.
SP+Hamon Combo: Star Finger + Barrage + Zoom Punch + Inhale + 4 LMB + Ora Kick.
Hamon is recommended, because it has a good amount of defense and damage with a useful stun from Zoom Punch and a burning effect from Scarlet Overdrive.
Star Finger + Time Stop + Barrage + Zoom Punch (when Time Stop ends) + Star Finger + Ora Kick.
Keep your distance and use these combos. If needed, enable Rage Mode to increase your defense.
Star Platinum: The World + Vampirism:
You must have every move unlocked to complete this.
This is a combo to beat H.A.D with SP:TW and Vampirism. Combat precision + Time Stop + Barrage (he can’t barrage back in time stop) + Platinum Slam + 4x LMB + Ora Kicks + barrage TS ends + Skull Crusher + Freeze + Life Drain + dash backwards + Space Ripper Stingy Eyes + Heavy Punch + Barrage + Ora Kicks. Then keep on fighting and when low, you should use Skull Crusher + Beatdown (if SC is on cooldown just use beatdown,) since it is long it should give a good time to heal a portion of your health back.
Chariot Requiem + Boxing:
C-Moon + Spin/Hamon/Boxing:
C-Moon with Spin has a very great stun, so use that mostly to your advantage. For example, Gravitational Shift is a great combo starter. Note to always use T after you use Y so you can add extra damage. If H.A.D is about to stop time, press Z and jump so you’ll be stuck in mid air, resulting in H.A.D being unable to damage you during stopped time. Z also increases your gravity moves by 2x, which can deal extreme amounts of damage if used well. Also, your counter is useful when it tries to hit you with a heavy damaging move, since you can negate it and add even more damage.
Golden Skin + Gravitational Shift + Steel Ball + Multi Steel Ball + 4x LMB + Surface Inversion Punch + Uppercut to the Moon + Spin Punch + Barrage + Heavy Punch + Steel Ball + Multi Steel Ball + 4x LMB + Spin Punch.
Hamon is another recommended Speciality, as it can heavily buff its damage while having the Hamon Punch passive. You also gain a 30% reduction of damage taken and a 25% damage output boost. This will come in EXTREMELY handy as you can quickly melt H.A.D’s health. When you’re about to use gravity moves, always use it with Hamon charged. A combo is Z + E + B + Y + T. This can melt H.A.D’s health very quickly. Always try to use this combo; its Z can be replaced with the counter move too.
Boxing is the last recommended Spec. Although it is not as good as Hamon, it can be used to extend attacks and punish H.A.D hard if used well. Having an extra barrage (similar to Hamon’s Sunlight Yellow Overdrive) and your jaw breaker can Stand crash H.A.D, leaving you an open space to attack. Your Eye Gouge doesn’t do anything except damaging and slowing him down, so you can use other moves while he’s slower.
Gold Experience Requiem + Hamon:
Note that you must unlock the Hamon Punch passive.
GER + Hamon is a powerful matchup for beating H.A.D, but it’s good to have one friend with you that can be used to take turns whenever you’re low. Try to spam X with Hamon charged, as it can deal heavy damage output. Do not barrage first, and always spam LMB after you finish barraging. Always keep your Hamon charged, as it will come in handy sooner or later. Note that H.A.D has an extremely long Time Stop, so you can just Return To Zero to cancel it or summon a tree so he won’t be able to hit you during it. A good combo with Hamon charged is X (use scorpions instead of directly hitting them) + LMB x5 (wait until they barrage) + E + LMB x4 + R.
Awakening can melt H.A.D’s health quickly when paired with charged Hamon, use it whenever you can so you can send out an arsenal of attacks. Never forget to spam LMB at H.A.D once he finishes barraging, as it can deal heavy damage with Awakening, and even more so with Hamon charged. Do not directly hit your X, as scorpions deal more damage than directly hitting H.A.D
D4C:LT can make it so that H.A.D cannot damage you. Start off with 4 M1s, a barrage and then LT then if H.A.D barrages you, you can dimension hop and sooner or later you will auto leave and you can heal since H.A.D cant leave the dimension hop. rinse and repeat and you can cheese him.
Whitesnake:
Whitesnake can use its disks to deactivate H.A.D’s TWOH. Then you can put in immense amounts of damage without being damaged at all. Try to extend your attacks as long as possible before knocking H.A.D away. A combo: T+Y+E+R+Z+X and repeat. There’s even a high possibility that he will never pull his stand out on you after doing the combo: T+Y+X+Z+E and repeat. Stay still on him for a while, and he wont pull his stand out.
There is an interesting bug with Whitesnake. If you use the combo T + Y on H.A.D as the first attack, he won’t be able to attack you anymore. He will still follow you, but no matter how much time passes, he won’t be able to either punch you with his fists or attack with TWOH, making him extremely easy to beat as Whitesnake. If H.A.D gets attacked by another player, he will continue his normal behavior, though.
Magician’s Red + Pluck:
Probably one of the easier stands since H.A.D can’t dash and put the burn effect out. Start with a barrage + 4m1s + R. Then, Follow up with Y then hold block and run around with Pluck’s Aerial Ace. Once the burn goes out, use Z + X then run around again. Once he stops burning, repeat. If he uses time stop, use your T move to stop H.A.D from getting near you. Combo him if needed.
Support Stands
There are other Stands that can be used for support, but these are the recommended ones while fighting H.A.D with your friend.
Gold Experience:
Gold Experience is almost a made-for-support Stand. It has a heal which gives 60 hp, and a move that can cripple H.A.D, along with a beatdown. If your friend is low, you can quickly heal them and then use beatdown on H.A.D, allowing them time to quickly pose and heal. If H.A.D uses Time Stop, you can quickly summon a tree to avoid any attacks. Your barrage’s damage output isn’t half bad too, so you and your friend could double barrage at H.A.D.
Hierophant Green:
Hierophant Green is an excellent Stand to stall time for your friend to quickly pose and heal due, to its 20 meter Emerald Splash and normal Emerald Splash. Your Emerald Splash can deal hefty amounts of damage, with an amazingly short cooldown giving you the ability to spam the move. Your 20 meter Emerald Splash is also another good way to stall time for you and your friend to pose. However, your close ranged moves are weak, so you’re going to have to rely on Specs like Hamon for damage output, and Boxing for more melee moves.
