In other words, the spirits are fully aware of the feelings I harbour towards Onii-chan.
When I think about, spirits are actually quite fearsome.

The food in the village is good too, but Onii-chan’s cooking is completely foreign.
After we started living in Arthura-san’s house, Onii-chan’s cooking became extremely popular within the household.

At first, the women are impressed at how skillful Onii-chan handles a knife.
Afterwards, they are drawn in by the sweet fragrance of the unknown recipe.
Finally, “Mission Complete 2 ” as they eat the completed omelette rice.
Although each person is only allowed one spoonful, it seems to be a success since everyone is reminiscing on the taste.
As we start making the dish ourselves, Onii-chan is bombarded with questions on how to accurately replicate the outstanding flavour.

Useful Notes / Japanese Sibling Terminology

Where English makes no distinction between elder and younger siblings, Japanese has words that classify both gender and age (relative to the speaker) for a sibling. There are four basic terms:
otōto 弟 younger brother imōto 妹 younger sister ani 兄 elder brother ane 姉 elder sister
These four terms are normally used when the speaker is describing siblings. If the speaker is talking about his older and younger brothers, for example, he will say «[watashi no] ani» note The reason why «watashi no» is bracketed is because «ani»/»ane» is rarely used for anything other than referring to the speaker’s own older brother/sister, so adding «My» is redundant. and «watashi no otōto», respectively. If he is describing someone else (say, Hanako)’s younger brother, he will say «Hanako no otōtosan», using the common honorific -san indicating respect. Logically, describing Hanako’s older brother would be «Hanako no anisan», but this is grammatically incorrect. Rather, he will use «Hanako no oniisan».
It is also not uncommon for sibling terminology to be used for non-relatives. «Oniisan» and «oneesan» and their variants are often used by children for older non-relatives that are not too far apart in age from the speaker (expect the kid Victim of the Week to address the hero this way throughout the episode, for example.) If the addressee is a generation older, «ojisan» or «obasan» (meaning «uncle» and «aunt», respectively) may be used instead and if they are two or more generations older, «ojiisan» or «obaasan» (meaning «grandfather» and «grandmother», respectively) may be used as well. This one’s hard for translators — you want to stay true to the original, but can’t exactly have the kid call the hero «Big brother» despite the fact that they’ve clearly never met before.
In addition to the four basic words, there are numerous variations due to regional differences in pronunciation and from slang usages. Just as an example, here are some of the alternative versions that one may encounter in fiction:
According to Japanologist Basil Hall Chamberlain, the four-word system might have settled due to Chinese influence. Ancient Japan had a more complicated system. To paraphrase Chamberlain who cited feudal scholar Motoori Norinaga on this system:
According to the Kojiki, the goddess Amaterasu referred to her younger brother Susanoo as a ga nase no mikoto, which Chamberlain translated (for technical reasons, as literally as possible) as «His Augustness my elder brother» while adding a footnote that says she was still the elder sister. Izanagi addressed his recently dead sister and wife, appropriately, as utsukushiki a ga nanimo no mikoto, or «Thine Augustness my lovely younger sister» in Chamberlain’s translation; while Izanami, in Yomi, addressed her brother and husband, as utsukushiki a ga nase no mikoto, or «Thine Augustness my lovely elder brother».
This ancient system collapsed into the four-word system we know today, where there’s no restriction on terms used by brothers among themselves as opposed to about their sisters, and vice versa. (A similar system with such restriction is still used by the Koreans.) Oto and imo compounded with hito (人 «person») to form otōto (originally, «younger sibling») and imōto (originally, «sister»). Historically there was also shōto (or seuto), used by females for their brothers.
It should be noted that incest was practiced in ancient Japan. Therefore, words for «brother» and «husband», as well as words for «sister» and wife», were interchangeable oftentimes. The word se could be spelt as 兄 («elder brother») or 夫 («husband»), or for some odd reason, 背 («back»). Imose (妹背 or 妹兄) means either «wife and husband» or «sister and brother».

Meaning of Onii-chan, Onee-chan, Onii-san and Onee-san
Have you ever wondered what it means onii-chan, onee-chan, onii-san, onee-san and other Japanese variations? These words are used to refer to brothers in the Japanese language and are often heard in anime. In this article, we will do a thorough search to understand the meaning and difference of these words.

The meaning of Onii-chan, Onee-chan, Onii-san, Onee-san
Onii-chan and Onee-chan it is nothing more than an informal way of speaking older brother and older sister. Onii [お兄] literally means big brother and Onee [お姉] means big sister. The chan she is an honorary of child treatment, informed and intimate, as if she were a diminutive (little sister).
The most formal and common is to use the suffix san, so we also listen a lot to the words onii-san for older brother and onee-san for older sister. Both of these expressions oniichan, oneechan, oniisan and oneesan can be used as an honorary suffix after the name such as: Kevin-oniichan.

This treatment is used for any older sibling you have, sometimes it is used even with people you consider a sibling, even if you are not related at all.
Younger brothers have word-like treatments otouto [弟] which means little brother and imouto [妹] which means little sister. These words don’t usually use a suffix.

Oniichan or Onii-chan, which one is right?
There is no correct way. This feature is just a Romanization option that we use to separate the word’s brother from the suffix chan or another suffix like san. Be careful not just to write onichan because then you will be referring to the demon, ogre, or monster Oni [鬼].
If both are twin brothers, what do they call each other? Who will decide to be the younger brother or older brother? The Japanese word for twins is futago [双子] which literally means children in pairs or together.
In reality, everyone is already aware that even twins, even when born at the same time, are taken in an order, so those who first came out of the mother’s belly are considered older. So, it can be said:

The different ways to speak older brother in Japanese
In Japanese, there is a hierarchy of treatment, a formal, common and informal language. This is one of the main reasons there are so many variations and ways of saying big brother in Japanese. To make it easier, let’s put a list of words below exemplifying the idea a little:
Remembering that all the words in the list below refer to older sisters or brothers:
Aniki It is often used by the yakuza, it is like a comrade brother, where the character [貴] refers to something precious, esteemed and valuable.
The relationship between younger and older siblings is highly valued in Japan. The Japanese have a knack for placing younger sisters who call their brother onii-chan in anime.
We already mentioned that brother and little sister are imouto [妹] and otouto [弟], but remember that it is not as common to use suffixes as san [さん] and chan [ちゃん] for younger siblings, but neither is it wrong or unusual.
If you search for younger sister no jisho you will see that there are infinite ways to convey the idea of a younger sister, however unusual.
If we want to speak in the plural brothers and sisters we can use the combination of the ideograms of an older brother with a younger brother. Speaking in Japanese kyoudai [兄弟], and sisters in Japanese are spelled shimai [姉妹].
