In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Harry Potter confronts Snape in the Great Hall of Hogwarts and says the line.
In the previous film, Snape had killed Dumbledore. In the seventh and eighth films, he has taken the position of Headmaster at Hogwarts. At the end of the eighth film, Harry confronts Snape and says «How dare you stand where he stood,» referring to Snape in Dumbledore’s place.
Spread
The moment spread online as a reaction image to express righteous anger at an unwanted replacement. Known early examples of the meme include a Funnyjunk [1] post dated August 30th, 2012, which pairs the image with Wallace from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire welcoming the player to the Hall of Fame at the end of the game instead of Professor Oak (shown below, left). Another example posted to Reddit [2] on September 15th, 2013 pairing the image with Joe on Blue’s Clues, the replacement for Steve, gained over 1,600 points (shown below, right).

How Dare You Wear Such an Offensive Shirt to School refers to an edited image macro series based on a political cartoon by Tom Stiglich. In the comic, a teacher reprimands a student for wearing an offensive Make America Great Again t-shirt, while praising another student for wearing a shirt that depicts the image of Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara. While supporters of President Donald Trump praised the original comic, others mocked it the comic’s sincerity, finding the situation laughable.
Origin
On September 5th, 2017, cartoonist Tom Stiglich [1] published the cartoon «Teacher Kicks Out Students for MAGA Shirt,» which was based on a then-recent news item reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution [2] (shown below). In the comic, the teacher says the boy in the MAGA shirt, «How dare you wear such an offensive shirt to school, why can’t you be more like Billy?»
Spread
That day, Redditor [3] TheAmishTrump posted the comic in the pro-Trump subreddit /r/The_Donald. The post received more than 8,800 points (93% upvoted) and 150 comments.
Later that month, Tumblr [4] user imgayjokes edited the Che shirt to read «I’m gay.» The post received more than 1,400 notes in less than two years (shown below, left).
On November 17th, Redditor [5] elnachato posted an edited variation in which a series of memes appear on the shirts of the students. The post received more than 250 points (98% upvoted) and 30 comments in less than two years (shown below, center).

On June 16th, 2017, an anonymous 4chan user made the earliest known post using the image as a reaction in /tv/ board (shown below, left), [2] with the image gaining popularity among 4chan users in the following months [3] [4] and also spreading to Twitter. [5]
On April 20th, 2018, an unknown Redditor posted the first known meme based on the image to /r/memes subreddit, with the post receiving over 30 upvotes (shown below, left). [6] On May 2nd, 2019, Redditor MeMeMachina052 posted meme based on the image which gained over 1,600 upvotes (shown below, right). [7]

On July 16th, 2005, the book Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was published. [1] In the book, the character character Harry Potter attempts to attack his teacher Professor Snape with a spell devised by Snape. The professor responds to these attacks by saying, «You dare use my own spells against me.» [2]
Four years later, on July 15th, 2009, a film adaptation of the book featured the characters Harry and Snape (portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe and Alan Rickman, respectively) having the exchange (shown below).
