Part 1: Introduction & Interview
Q. 1. How do you usually spend your weekends? [Why?]
Answer: My weekend is rather short and busy as I am currently taking some classes during the weekend in order to improve my job skills. Besides, whatever time I get after finishing my weekend classes, I have to keep myself busy in taking care of some important house choirs. However, from time to time, on a fine weekend, I visit my favourite restaurant to enjoy one of my favourite dishes or go to a theatre to enjoy a movie with my friends.
Q. 2. Which is your favourite part of the weekend? [Why?]
Answer: My most favourite part of the weekend isn’t exactly the weekend per se but the evening (just when I am leaving my work to start my weekend) before the day when the weekend starts. Another favourite part of my weekend is the night of the weekend because I don’t have to worry about going to sleep early. And of course, when I go outside for a walk in the evening, though this does not happen very often, I enjoy the time a lot.
Q. 3. Do you think your weekends are long enough? [Why/why not?]
Answer: Currently, I don’t think that my weekend is long enough because I have to remain busy with my classes and studies. Besides, I also have to do a number of other things during the weekend in order to help my family.
Q. 4. How important do you think it is to have free time on the weekends? [Why?]
Answer: I think that it is absolutely crucial to have free time on the weekends because we need free time to relax and recuperate from the fatigue of works of a long and tiring week. Besides, free time is also important because it allows us to socialise with our friends and families which is very important to live a happy and normal life.
Part 3: Details Discussion.
1. In your country, do men and women usually do the same kind of things on weekends?
Answer: Yes, men and women in my country usually do the same kind of things on the weekends, except for some rare occasions. For example, both men and women in my country like to go to catch a movie at a nearby Cineplex. Besides, both of them run to a stadium to watch some interesting games. Sometimes, both the men and women go to a restaurant together to enjoy some nice meals during the weekends. However, when it comes to playing any kinds of sports, in most cases it is the men who like to hit the field to play their favourite sports instead of women.
2. Do you feel that weekends now are more important to you than when you were a child?
Answer: Yes, I do feel that the weekends now are more important to me than when I was a child, primarily because back in my childhood days, I feel like I had plenty of time in my hands and very little to do. And therefore, I didn’t really have to worry about managing my time on the weekends properly. But, as I grew older and became busy with my job and other priorities of life, I suddenly feel like I am never getting enough time to enjoy my life during the weekends. So, whenever I get a weekend these days, it becomes very important for me that I utilize the time on the weekends very efficiently.
3. How the way people spend their weekends has changed than that of the last decade?
Answer: The way people spend their weekends these days has significantly changed from that of the last decade. For example, a decade ago in my country people used to invite their friends and families over to their houses in order to enjoy some quality time together in a homely environment, but now almost all of them go to visit some exotic places. Besides, a decade ago, many people would like to go to do some shopping on the weekends, but today, they spend their time watching some movies at home because of their too busy life schedules.
4. What do you think our weekends will be like 10 years later?
Answer: I think that after a decade from now, we will hardly get to enjoy our weekends because we will become too busy with our works and life to wish for a happy weekend. In fact, most of us would probably end up working during the weekends in order to meet the additional expenses of our life. Besides, whatever time we get during the weekend, we will probably spend it just to relax because of too much work during the weekdays. Spending more time on the virtual internet world at home, instead of going out, would probably become a very much fact of life.
5. Should offices request employees work on the weekend?
Answer: No, I don’t really think that offices should request employees to work on the weekends unless, of course, there is a very valid reason to do so, and that too has to be once in a blue moon. In other words, working on the weekends must not become a regular thing since it will significantly weaken the work spirit of the employees. Working on the weekends will certainly make the staffs physically tired to get ready for the next week’s tasks. Besides, the staffs will be very much mentally exhausted because they don’t get to spend any quality times with their families and friends.
6. Do you think people get enough time to relax on their weekends? Why?/Why not?
Answer: Well, to tell the truth, it varies from person to person. In other words, while some people get enough time to relax on the weekend, many others don’t. But, conventional wisdom suggests that, as a whole, people don’t really get enough time to relax on their weekends either because they have to work on the weekend too, be it at home or at the office, to finish the work on deadline, or they have to take care of many different kinds of house choirs or other responsibilities during the weekends.

Well, there are so many people in my hometown, it’s really hard to say, probably most people tend to stay at home to enjoy the family time, but personally speaking, I guess there are not much entertaining facilities in my small hometown for people to go.
Next week, I plan to go to do some shopping because as the Spring Festival is just around the corner, I need to go to some super markets to prepare some food and other groceries; besides, I have to buy some new clothes for my family for the coming new year, it’a an old Chinese tradition.

Yes, the main factor is that after five-day of hard work, I really need some leisure time to let off steam, or travel around to experience the stunning natural scenery. Whereas, when I was a kid, I had plenty of time to play, every day was almost the same.
IELTS Speaking Part 1 : Weekends (Question-Answer)
Q. How do you usually spend your weekends? [Why?]
Q. Which is your favourite part of the weekend? [Why?]
Q. Do you think your weekends are long enough? [Why/Why not?]
Q. How important do you think it is to have free time on the weekends? [Why?]
Q. How do you usually spend your weekends? [Why?]
Answer: I usually spend my weekends by mostly doing the outdoors like enjoying swimming (on summer days), fishing and gardening. I enjoy these outdoor activities mainly because I spend too much of a time indoor at my work. Oh, by the way, I also like to go to my favourite restaurant with my friends in order to enjoy some “relaxing and fun” time. I enjoy doing all these outdoor activities because they make me strong, positive and rejuvenated to deal with “all-so-familiar-struggles” of our modern, tough and complicate world.
Q. Which is your favourite part of the weekend? [Why?]
Answer: My favourite part of the weekend is certainly the “morning” when I don’t have to worry about waking up early and getting ready quickly to get to work. Then, of course, I also like the part when I don’t really have to worry about going to bed “early” or staying up late at night. Even more special are the Friday nights when my mind is pretty much “occupied” with the very thoughts of enjoying a long weekend, waiting ahead of me.
Q. Do you think your weekends are long enough? [Why/Why not?]
Answer: Yes, I do think that my weekends are long enough because it helps me to rejuvenate for the challenges of the next week by allowing me to do the things that I really enjoy. Of course, an extra weekend day would certainly be welcome by many people like me, but I don’t see it happening in the near future. So, essentially, whether our weekend is long enough or not depends on how we plan to spend the time.
Q. How important do you think it is to have free time on the weekends? [Why?]
Answer: There is no doubt that work is important, but so is the recreation, families and friends. But, without enough free time, be it on the weekends or some other times, we just won’t be able to “recharge” ourselves, nor will we be able to interact with our families and friends enough in order to show them that they really matter in our lives. Therefore, it is absolutely important that we have enough free time in order to ensure a “balanced” life so that not only we can succeed in our professional life but also in personal life.
