Unfortunately, we don’t have a cinema here. So, I go to the cinema very seldom, once every three or four months in Tambov.

I think films in English help to improve students’ listening skills first. Besides, they can help to expand their vocabulary. They can learn new words by watching films as it is often clear what the word means from what you see on the screen.

I would recommend my friends see the film Titanic. They like romantic love films. And it is a very beautiful love story. Besides, it is really spectacular. It is full of great special effects. And the acting is wonderful too.

My favourite kind of books is adventure stories. I like adventure stories because they make my monotonous life more exciting and interesting, give me an opportunity to travel around the world.

I never borrow books from the library now. I read books on the Internet now. You can find any book there. You just type in its title and and it is found almost in no time.

Teenagers read less now as they have far more ways to entertain themselves. We have an opportunity to play computer games, listen to countless number of songs and watch any films we like on the Internet.
5. How can reading English books help students improve their English?
I think reading English books can help students expand their vocabulary, they can learn new words by reading as it is often clear what the word means from the context.

I would recommend him/her Headless Horseman by Mayne Reid. It is easy to read and the plot is very interesting and exciting.

It is usually me who does the shopping in my family. My parents give me a shopping list and I buy everything we need.
2. What can you buy in your nearest shopping centre?
In our nearest shopping centre we can buy all kinds of food, household chemicals, bath and body products and cosmetics.
3. How often do you usually go shopping?
I usually go shopping twice a week with a long shopping list: on Wednesday and Saturday.
But I also go to the shop whenever I feel like eating something special.
4. Why are shopping centres so popular nowadays?
I think they are so popular because you can buy different kinds of products all in one place. You don’t have to go to many kinds of shops around the town. It saves your time and even money as you don’t spend money on transport.
5. Why do some people hate shopping?
I think some people hate shopping because it is very tiresome sometimes. When you buy clothes for example, you have to try on a lot of things before you find one that suits and fits you.
6. What time would you recommend that busy people go shopping?
As there are very many people at shops in the evening on weekdays after the working day is over I would recommend that busy people do the shopping early in the morning at the weekends. During the weekends many people prefer sleeping till late hours so shops are not crowded early in the morning. So if they want to save time, it is the best time.

I have very little free time on weekdays as I have six or seven lessons plus one or two extra classes a day, besides we are given a lot of homework as we are getting ready to take our school-leaving exams.
2. How do you and your friends usually spend your free time?
We like whatching films on the Internet. We make a home cinema for ourselves at somebody’s home, buy plenty of snacks beforehand and enjoy films chewing something. Then we discuss them.

I prefer to spend my free time with my best friend. We have a lot in common. We like the same kinds of books, films, music and even food. So it is easy to find something to do interesting for both of us.

I am very health-conscious, try to live a healthy life-style and do sports. That’s why I do athletics at a school athletic club.

Yes, I think everyone should find some time for doing sports as it helps you to stay healthy and slim. Health is the most important thing in your life. And if you are slim and look attractive, you feel confident and are more successful in your career.

If I had more free time, I would attend dance classes. I like dancing very much and all my friends say I dance very beautifully.

My favourite season is summer. There are so many things you can do in summer! The weather is hot and sunny. You can swim, lie in the sun and get a beautiful tan.

I usually spend my summer holidays at the seaside. I am always tired after a school year as I study hard. So I like to relax lying in the sun on the beach and swimming in the sea.
3. What do you like to do during your winter holidays?
During my winter holidays I prefer skating. We have a good skating-rink near our school. My friends and I usually meet there at the weekends and skate. It is great fun!

We travel almost every year. We enjoy travelling and can afford it as my parents have a good and well-paid job.
5. What kind of transport do you find the most convenient? Why?
I believe, the best means of transport is your own car. First, you don’t have to wait for your bus or train at the station. It saves your time. Second, you can choose the route yourself to take the most of your trip and enjoy most picturesque places. Besides, you can stop any time you feel tired to stretch your legs after a long sitting or have a bite if you are hungry.
6. What place in your country would you recommend a foreign visitor to visit?
There are a lot of places worth visiting in Russia. But if it is the first visit to Russia, I would recommend to visit Moscow. First, there are a lot of places which are symbols of the country there, like Red Square and St Basil’s Cathedral. Besides, it is a cultural centre too. There are a lot of museums, art galleries and theatres there.

I would like to live in a big city as there are more opportunities to entertain yourself, to get a good education and find a well-paid job there.

In the country the air is cleaner as there are fewer cars and factories there that pollute the air and there is less noise too.

I think the main ecological problem in my town is litter. It is everywhere: on the streets, in the forests and in the river. It is very dangerous for animals: they can eat poisonous litter or hurt themselves with glass and the like.

Yes, my friends and I care about ecological problems because the pollution of the environment affect people’s health too. It can cause different dangerous diseases like cancer.

Yes, I took part in a project the aim of which was to show how people can reduce the amount of domestic rubbish, like giving a second life to old things, avoiding buying lots of packaging and so on.
6. What would you advise a person who would like to improve ecological situation in his / her home town?
I would advise him/her not to use a car too often, not to drop litter everywhere and try to reduce the amount of domestic rubbish.

What is your school uniform like?
We don’t have a uniform at our school, just a dress code. Boys must wear black suits and one-colour shirts, girls wear black skirts or trousers, black blazers and one-colour blouses.
What school events do you have during the school year?
We have concerts before such bank holidays as Victory Day, Women day, Defender of the fatherland day. We also have a theatrical performance with Father Frost and Snow Maiden before the New Year’s day. We also act out short plays in English.
What would you like to improve in your school?
It would be nice to have more parties and discos than we do now. We are too focused on studying and lack entertainment. I believe that too much work and no fun is not very good for students’ health.

I do athletics at our school athletic club three times a week.
3. What sport is the most popular with teenagers in your region?
I believe the most popular sport with teenagers is athletics. There are many sport clubs where you can do athletics. Our local authorities also hold different athletics competitions quite regularly. Besides, fitness training is also popular among teenagers. Girls like attending non-equipment fitness group classes, boys prefer equipment-based workouts at a gym.

We have a stadium, a skating-rink, a fitness centres and a swimming pool
5. Why do you think it is important to keep fit?
I think it is important to keep fit because it it helps you to stay healthy and slim. Health is the most important thing in your life. And if you are slim and look attractive, you feel confident and are more successful in your career.
6.What would you recommend a person who wants to keep fit?
I would recommend him/her to do sports regularly and keep to a healthy diet, eat more fruit and vegetables and avoid products containing much fat and sugar.

I would not like to do any extreme sports. They are very dangerous for your health. You can hurt yourself badly doing such kinds of sports.
