Для определения языкового уровня в мире используются унифицированные тесты. Это значит, что любой человек в любом конце земного шара будет выполнять один и тот же тест, принятый для ряда стран, и получит сравнимый для поступления в вуз результат.
Два самых популярных международных теста — IELTS и TOEFL (iBTOEFL). Первый используется для сдачи экзамена при поступлении в вузы Великобритании и стран Британского Содружества, второй — для поступления в университеты США и Канады. (О Кембриджских экзаменах мы писали ранее, не будем на них останавливаться).
Результаты теста IELTS выражаются в баллах от 1 до 9. Говорят, что планка обычно 8,5. 9 — практически недостижимый результат.
Что касается TOEFL, то его сдают в письменном виде и через Интернет. В письменном виде в Беларуси сдать TOEFL невозможно, сдают через Интернет в варианте iBTOEFL. Максимальное количество баллов в iBTOEFL– 120, что соответствует результату письменного теста 677 баллов.
По результатам выполнения теста определяется уровень владения языком. Вообще считается, что уровней 7:
1. Starter или Beginner (начальный уровень)
2. Elementary (элементарный)
3. Pre-intermediate (ниже среднего)
4. Intermediate (средний, IELTS 4.5-5.5, TOEFL 80-85)

Баллы системы IELTS (International English Language Testing System) даны только для письменного варианта.

Претендовать на поступление в вуз можно только с уровнем CАE. Некоторые университеты, например Оксфорд, предъявляют настолько высокие требования к владению языком, что и CАE может оказаться недостаточным: нужно получить высокие баллы по всем аспектам. (FCE — это примерно уровень выпускника специализированной школы. С этого уровня можно начинать подготовку к международным экзаменам. А уровень нашего рядового выпускника школы, на мой взгляд, тянет максимум на Pre-Intеrmediate. Хотелось бы надеяться на лучшее, но судя по уровню текстов для аудирования, КЕТ не все в состоянии осилить.)
Для поступления в обычный западный университет на обучение по негуманитарной специальности нужно иметь, как правило, Кембриджский САЕ или IELTS 6.0.- 6.5 или TOEFL от 60 до 80.
Для поступления в более престижные университеты и на гуманитарные специальности нужно сдать Кембриджский CPE или IELTS на 7.0 или TOEFL на 90 (600).
Для поступления в Оксфордский университет нужно сдать IELTS на средний балл 7.5, при этом ни по одному аспекту не должно быть ниже 7.0. Результаты iBTOEFL — не ниже 100.
Приведённый ниже тест используется Оксфордским университетом для определения уровня владения английским языком. Найден в Интернете. Тест выполняют слушатели подготовительных программ. Результаты теста в баллах от 0 до 50 позволяют определить уровень достаточно точно — от нуля до Аdvanced.
При выполнении теста лучше не гадать, если не знаешь ответа наверняка — это только помешает определению реального уровня.
Обычно на официальных сайтах после выполнения online теста выдаётся результат в процентах, баллах или даётся словесная оценка типа «Excellent». У нас возможности подсчитать баллы нет. Тем не менее предлагаю взглянуть на тест.

How much do houses cost where you live
It’s becoming more and more unrealistic for the «average» family to buy their first home. I’m curious to see how much real estate costs around the country and around the world.
I live in San Diego, California (admittedly one of the most expensive places to live in the USofA), and a small 3 or 4 bedroom house will cost anywhere from 400K to 800K depending upon the location. A 2 bedroom condo will run about 200K to 400K. It seems pretty rediculous to me.
We bought our first house in Memphis last year.

I would guess that the reason the price is so reasonable is because I live in western Iowa.

Ten years ago, this wasn’t a real expensive town. Lot of counterculture and such here. But it got bad at the dot-com boom, and kept getting worse afterwards. A lot of people pulled their money out of stocks and put it into property. And lower interest rates helped.
Thing is, the actual _wages_ here in town aren’t that high, unless you’re working over the hill. So they have a hard time recruiting new cops, new teachers, new civil servants, everything. And families that didn’t already own homes are moving out because they can’t afford to buy. So there are fewer and fewer kids in town. Because of the gap between home prices and wages, Santa Cruz is regularly rated as one of the three least affordable housing markets in the nation. It’s ugly.

But we don’t often hear about how much you can save while you’re living in the tiny house itself: the daily repairs, the weekly grocery trips, and the monthly bills.
So what is the cost of living in a tiny house? The situation for every tiny house owner is different, and the cost of your monthly living will vary depending on a number of circumstances.
There are considerations such as, do you own the land for your home, how often do you travel, are utilities included in your monthly rent, and so on.
In this article we will discuss the basic monthly cost expectations with tiny house living, and everything else you need to know about the overall tiny house bill at the end of the month.
Laws, Zoning, and Codes
Before anything else, it’s important to remember that the biggest headache you will have to figure out as a tiny house owner is the laws of your area.
While you would probably have a clear or general understanding of the housing laws, building codes, and zoning issues of your area while building or scouting out a tiny house, there are other issues you might not realize until you start your day-to-day tiny house living.
One law that gets in the way for most tiny house owners is the fact that tiny houses with wheels are considered RVs rather than fixed homes, meaning they can’t be parked in a backyard in many places.
