How often do you exercise?

I am interested in finding out how often most of us here on PF exercise per week. By exercise I mean deliberate physical activity undertaken to maintain and/or improve fitness.

I currently exercise 5 days a week.

Answers and Replies

I voted » less than once a week». I know it’s not a healthy way of living for a 17 year old teenager but I really don’t have much time to exercise. I used to be a team member of the athletic’s team and volleyball team in school but I quitted in September last year. (I have had an extremely hectic schedule since Sept.) I do love sports and miss playing sports a lot.

I hope I can pick up sports again in the coming summer holiday and I’ll train myself long distance running. Hope I’ll have time to do so.

I can not remember being asked that. Then again, the only time I wear a tracksuit is to go running, so it should be obvious to them.

5 times a week. cycling or running plus weights. You can do weights consecutively from day to day and still rest if you do different muscle groups on different days. That’s what i do. I would get too pooped too if I did the same weight exercises everyday.

Wow! My muscles wouldn’t like me very much if I did that. They need at least a days recovery in between to start rebuilding and replenishing energy.

I wasn’t sure what to answer for this. I am notorious among my friends for not exercising because (this will probably be thought of as a terrible reason) at my school it is something people use to sculpt themselves into the so called body type so they can mate.

However, I just started karate classes (they are free at this place nearby) because I want to be a ninja! (To me, a sport/discipline is acceptable, but the pure meat market one so often finds in gyms is not.)

What are some of the reasons behind people’s exercise schedules?

How Often Should You Exercise?

When it comes to weight loss you may have wondered how often to exercise. Do you have to work out every single day, or should you allow a day or two of rest in between? And does it differ when you’re doing cardio workouts or weight training workouts?

One hundred and fifty minutes works out to two hours and thirty minutes a week. So, technically, you could break that down into seven 21-minute sessions of moderate exercise, and do that every day.

But when it comes to exercise, variety is the key. And you might want to work out longer on some days, and not so much on other days.

Depending on your personal fitness goals, how often you should exercise will vary. But it’s important to work your way UP to the minimum amount of 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week..

Exercising too hard or too often can cause injuries. And if you overdo it, the soreness you feel may make you swear off exercise all together!

How Often Should You Do Weight Training?

Most experts say that weight training should not be done every day because resistance exercises that stress your muscles actually create small tears in the muscle fibers, and the muscles then need 24-48 hours to heal and repair themselves.

Aim for 2 to 3 strength training sessions per week, lifting weights heavy enough to fatigue the muscles (or a few reps before). Beginners can start with one set of 8 to 10 exercises that covers all the muscle groups.

Don’t have any weights? You can do body weight exercises such as pushups, squats or tricep dips.

How Often Should You Do Cardio?

Cardio workouts get your heart pumping and can be done 3 to 5 times a week, for 20 to 60 minute sessions. Brisk walking, swimming, low-impact aerobics, using an elliptical machine or moderate paced bicycle riding shouldn’t strain your muscles too much and they can help you burn more calories and aid in weight loss.

How Often Should You Do Stretching Exercises?

It seems everybody forgets about stretching, yet it’s an important part of any exercise program.

Stretch at least 2 to 3 times a week minimum and up to 5 to 7 times a week, ideally. Stretch all muscle groups for 15 to 30 seconds per rep.

The ideal time to stretch is right after a cardio workout.

Should You Exercise Every Day?

Yes, you should be doing some kind of activity every day. You don’t want to sit or lie down all day, right?

Mix up the type of exercise you’re doing so that you’re not doing the same type on consecutive days.

But give yourself at least one full day off from any kind of official exercise routines. A day off from working out is a great way to not only allow some well-deserved rest for your body, but also to help you relax mentally and emotionally.

Even though working out is mostly a physical activity, your mind and emotions are involved too, and pushing yourself too hard can actually have some adverse effects in the form of feeling stressed, frustrated, overwhelmed or “burned out.”

A Typical Week of Exercise Might Look Like This

Monday: Cardio (walk) + Stretch
Tuesday: Weight Training (Upper Body) + Stretch
Wednesday: Cardio ( walk/jog) + Stretch
Thursday: Weight Training (Lower Body) + Stretch
Friday: Cardio (Bikram Yoga) + Stretch
Saturday: Cardio (hike) + Stretch
Sunday: Active Rest (light walking, light gardening)

No matter how often you exercise, you need to listen to your body because there is such a thing as overtraining.

How Long Should You Work Out?

The duration of your work out depends on you and what kind of workout you’re doing.

In a way, it’s not the amount of time; it’s what you do with that time.

If you spend 60 minutes weight training but half of that is spent talking with other people or you’re not working out very hard, then it’s not really a 60 minute workout, right?

The only way you’ll know how long your workout should be is to start working out. If you’re a beginner, keep your workouts short. Once you get an idea of what you can do, you can increase the duration of your workouts.

For example, if you don’t walk a lot, maybe a 15 minute cardio workout will be good for you.

Jump in, get a feel for things and then make adjustments.

Losing Weight Without Trying: How and Why it Happens

How often do you exercise? What do you usually do?

This is a two-part question. Let’s answer the first part – How often do you exercise? – using adverbs of frequency.

every day
once a week
twice a week
(number of times) a week

I exercise every day.

We can also be a less precise in our answer.

I exercise almost every day.

We can make our answer a bit longer by adding quite often:

I exercise quite often, almost every day.

If we exercise only once or twice per week we can add fairly often:

I exercise fairly often, twice a week.

If we like to exercise, we can say that:

I like exercising. I exercise quite often, almost every day.

If we don’t like to exercise, we can say that too:

I don’t like exercising, so I don’t exercise very often; maybe once or twice a week.

If we don’t like to exercise, but our dislike isn’t that strong we can say:

I don’t really like exercising, so I don’t exercise very often; maybe once or twice a week.

Now let’s work on the second part of our answer: What do you usually do?

What kinds of exercises are there?

running / jogging
walking
cycling
swimming
going to the gym
playing basketball (or any other kind of sport)

If we say going to the gym, we need to say what we do there.

I usually go jogging.

You will notice how this is similar to our answer about what we do in our free time. As with that question’s answer, here we should say not only what we do, but also where, when, and with whom.

Where?

I usually go jogging in the park.

When?

I usually go jogging in the park on weekends.

With whom?

I usually go jogging in the park on weekends with my sister.

Let’s put it all together now…

I don’t really like exercising, so I don’t exercise very often; maybe once or twice a week. I usually go jogging in the park on weekends, with my sister.

Can we make our answer longer? Yes. We can make our answer longer by saying what else we may do for exercise.

Sometimes, however, I will…

I don’t really like exercising, so I don’t exercise very often; maybe once or twice a week. I usually go jogging in the park on weekends, with my sister. Sometimes, however, I will play basketball in the gym after school, with my friends.

We can also say, “However, I will sometimes…”

I don’t really like exercising, so I don’t exercise very often; maybe once or twice a week. I usually go jogging in the park on weekends, with my sister. However, I will sometimes play basketball in the gym after school, with my friends.

Скажите,в 5 упражнении,а разве можно говорить being? глагол to be же не используется в длительных временах,или я упустила что-то,поясните,please.

Да, в данном контексте используется being. Глагол to be, как и глаголы have, smell, sound и пр. могут быть action и stative. Be в значении «быть» в continuous не употребляется, а be в значении «behave» — употребляется. Сравните:

Peter is difficult person to get on with. (His character is difficult)

Jane is being particularly generous this week. (She is behaving generously)

А 2 и 3 задание?Ответов нет.

там просто возможны варианты ответов во втором и полностью собственные ответы подразумеваются в третьем. Присылайте Ваш вариант в комментариях, я проверю
