What is emo and what does it even mean to be emo? Emo is a word used to describe a person, object or style which represents the paragon of perfection in our society. Popular opinion is that these people – «emos«, as they have become fondly known – follow only the very specific trends of flawlessness described in this article. Actually, the word simply describes anyone superior to the person using it. However, this article will refer to the specific image of emos, as known to the Western world. Many believe that emos are present only in Westernized cultures; this is false. In fact, the word «emo» has variants in almost all languages, all meaning, in one way or another, superiority, intelligence, beauty, or courage, or any combination of those words.
It is fully understandable that anyone who is not an emo, would be jealous and almost suicidal upon reading this short description. Fear not! Well, just look at that picture, for one thing. Oh, yes please. Ahem. In short, self-improvement can be practiced by almost anyone, where the exception, of course, is for those who have reached the glorious state of being an emo.

Appearance
Emos’ appearances generally reflect their inner selves. Untarnished, flawless skin, relaxed body language, an unrivalled dress-sense manifesting as the most confidently incredible style, and naturally smooth, silky hair are usually a must. When choosing your new emo style, keep in mind that confidence is key. Do not be afraid to stand out from the non-emo population. However, there is a line to be drawn – some clothes/hairstyles/etc. are better than others, some are shit no matter how confident you are – whether or not you can draw this line in the right place determines how likely you are to survive as an emo, but we can give some tips (see the items below). Achieve your new look as an emo, and the rest (kindness, courage, etc.) will most probably follow.
Fashion
Dressing will be very important to you as an emo, because it is your way of announcing to the world “I am an emo, hear me roar.” It is your personal, unique exclamation of your ideals and personality. As an expression of these pillars of your own perfection, the most popular items of clothing are:
Your hair is a playground — you have atop your head an amazing tool with which to express your creativity. Don’t let it go to waste, be experimental! Covering one eye with a wisp of longer hair is a wonderful way to demonstrate the intense vigour of your day-to-day outlook. A messy style could show how laid-back you are. Yes, longer hair is useful: what can you do with short hair? Nothing, that’s what. And, accessorise! Put flowers in there. And, of course, there is no way of denying the uses of.
Colour
Do not be restricted by your natural blandness. If you have a streak of any colour, you’ll gain instant respect. Or, dye the whole thing. Dark colours, especially black, can represent gravitas; lighter or vibrant colours will promote an image of confidence, and represent uniqueness.

Physical Condition
In the males, six-pack abs, beautifully curved chests, broad shoulders and bulky legs (I know you’ve seen those skinny jeans). These muscles are the result of years of hard work, and free time spent almost exclusively on exercise. Often, strong, squared jawlines and perfect facial features are noticeable. And, unsurprisingly, emo males have impressively large penises. Seriously. Oh yes they do. Ahem. Yes.
Moving on to the females, one notices an abundance of breast, clear skin (though this is also true of the males), slenderness, and toned muscles.
Of course, this is all stereotyping, and not true of all emos, but there is an obvious trend. Especially with the cocks.
Music
Again, there is no concrete archetype here. But, studies show, My Chemical Romance is popular, as are Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco. The bandmembers of these groups are often typical emos – Gerard Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance, for example, is well known for his laid-back attitude and optimism in the face of adversity. However, it is important that you ignore any urge to listen to Basshunter and similar musical styles: not because emos have a grudge against these groups because of their so-called conformism, and certainly not because of their popularity among other groups, but because of a historical feud between Jebediah Way and Abraham Basshunter, some centuries ago. This, however, is another story.

Последнее время очень много слышу о новой молодежной культуре, именуемой ЭМО. Решила посмотреть, что это такое и с чем ее едят. Решила написать свое мнение о данной субкультуре, может быть кого-то это заставит о чем- то задуматься.
Как я для себя определила, большинству из представителей ЭМО не больше 18 лет. Собственно, глядя со стороны на эту культуру, я ничего нового для себя не открыла. Обычные подростки из обеспеченных семей (потому что у ребенка из бедной семьи и так хватает забот, для того чтобы еще и искусственно придумывать новые), которые обсуждают одежду, музыку и межличностные отношения, но при этом жалуются друг другу на родителей и школу, считая эти две категории главными тормозами для своего самовыражения. Но ругая родителей, не забывайте, за чьи шишы вы пошли купили билет на концерт или купили розовый красовочки на голову. Вы ругаете школу, неграмотно пишете. Придумываете себе искусственные заботы, из-за них режете себе вены и не только. Думаю, что в этом случае недурно вспомнить детей из блокадного Ленинграда и сравнить их ситуацию со своей, подумать :»А надо ли?»
3 группы ЭМО
То, что сейчас переживает современная молодежь, принято называть попсой. То есть культура стала популярной, заинтересовалось куча народу, а если учитывать юношеский максимализм подростков, да и испорченность подрастающего поколения, то результат, как говорится, на лицо. Грубо делим современную ЭМО культуру на 3 части:
Одежда и музыка, это прежде всего знак к объединению, то есть люди, принимая подобный образ, дают остальным понять что они являются приверженцами такого образа жизни и.т.п.
В данный момент творится бардак, еще раз повторю, культура стала попсой, скоро всплывет еще что нибудь, и все позеры, а за ними и заблуждающиеся ринуться туда в попытках самоутвердиться. и вот когда это произойдет, trueemo смогут вздохнуть спокойно и продолжать наслаждаться жизнью. (Для примера вспомните 90-е года, панки, реперы, все это прошло и видоизменилось, слилось с другими направлениями, но остались те, кто до сих пор остается тем, кем был.) Проблема современной молодежи в том, что они не о чем не думают, с начало делают, а потом в голову приходит мысли, чем же я думал(ла).
Положительно об ЭМО
Эмокультура очень интересна и очень жаль, что многие не понимают ни её, ни мировоззрение эмокидов.
К эмо культуре принадлежат люди, которые остро воспринимают действительность, многие считают, что эмычи слабые и могу согласиться, да слабые, но слабость эта перед эмоциями, знаю многих людей, которые пытаются контролировать свои чувства и этот контроль заходит настолько далеко, что уже задумываешься, а жив ли этот человек, настолько он внутренне скуп, пресен и просто-напросто серый.
Эмокиды не только плачут (как многие считают) они ещё громко смеются. Для каждого эмо своё, но мировоззрение сходится в одном, в том, что они действительны, не согласны с существующим миром, порой жестокой реальностью, у эмокидов огромный внутренний мир, через который они хотят улучшить реальность.
Расхождение в мыслях
Можно заметить, что мнения расходятся: взрослые думают, что это во многом плохо отражается на будущем, а подростки защищают свое мнение, доказывая, что это их способ самовыражения. Я склоняюсь к мысли, что ЭМО это модно молодежное движение, которое в скором времени сойдет на нет поскольку наше время не терпит писимизма и требует более оптимистических взглядов и умения добиваться своей цели делом. Поскольку страдания не решают проблему а только усугубляют ее.
Для девочки (девушки, женщины) открытое выражение эмоций нормально, они по природе своей чувственные. я не говорю об истериках и прочем, об обычном выражении чувств, нормальных для каждого человека. Кстати о возрасте, подростки. хм, женщины эмоциональны в любом возрасте.
Теперь о мужчинах (мальчиках, юношах), разве мужчина имеет право открыто выражать свои эмоции? Бывают ситуации, когда это даже необходимо, но в целом. Мужчина это защитник, добытчик и т.д.
Что говорят ЭМО и их друзья
1) «У меня много друзей, знакомых, которые представители разных направлений, и каждый из них знает, что ищет в своей жизни. не думаю, что эмо-работник это комично, ибо сама работаю в свободное от учёбы время, для того чтобы были деньги, мои друзья (да. да эмо. вот эти комичные) работают, да, вызывают шок у некоторых людей, но при этом они достигают уже сейчас определенных вершин»
2) «Для меня Emo, это не значки, кеды, челка, мысли о суициде и жалобы на плохую жизнь. для меня Emo, это в первую очередь свободное выражение Эмоций, скажем так, принцип в жизни «не мешать выплеску эмоций», быть таким, какой я есть, если мне хорошо я буду улыбаться и даже плакать от радости, я могу грустить и пребывать месяцы в тяжелых депрессиях, рыдая каждый раз, когда вновь «накроет». «
Музыка также играет для них важную роль. Стрэйт-группы начали появляться в 1980 году из панк-рока. Стрейтэйджеры протестуют как с помощью своей философии, так и при помощи стиля. Мешковатые брюки и футболки очень актуальны. Популярны татушки, пирсинг в ухе. Также делают большие тоннели в ушах.
Сегодняшняя проблема заключается в том, что некоторые видят в философии стрэйтов позитив, но большинство считают их взгляды нетолерантными. Все это потому, что стрэйты делятся на две группы. В то время, как «обычные» стрейтэйджеры хотят иметь и борются за чистую, здоровую и позитивную жизнь, стрейтэйджеры-экстремисты настроены очень агрессивно в отношении различных вер и стиля жизни. Стрэйты-экстремисты ищут способ, как можно внести вклад в будущее, но большинство «обычных» стрэйтов и общественность шокированы тем, какими путями экстремисты пытаются переубедить тех, кто с ними не согласен.
Из этого интервью, можно вынести, что некоторые ЭМО могут быть позитивны, сами не желая этого. Некоторые ЭМО борются за природу, но все-таки все больше и больше склоняюсь к мысли о том что это молодежь которой не чем заняться вот и выдумывают всякие проблемы искуствено. А если посмотреть с другой стороны то можно заметить что они от чего-то страдают, как говорят другие люди, не относящиеся к ЭМО культуре считают, подростки ставшие ЭМОциональными из-за разбитой люби или еще какой-нибудь причины, от которой они уходят в дипресию и, встретив себе подобных не выходят из этого состояния. Я видела жизнерадостных ЭМО и все эти сказки о том, что они постоянно плачут, развеялись 😉
Музыка эмоций условно делится на несколько видов:
1. Эмокор
Это основное направление эмо-музыки, возникшее в 1985 году. Похоже на панк-рок, только медленнее, обычно с хриплым грубоватым вокалом, иногда переходящим в крик. Первые эмокор-команды (Rites Of Spring, Gray Matter и др.) мутировали из разваливающихся хардкор-групп. Тогда, в 1985, их эмокором еще не называли, да и слова то такого не было.
Впервые это словосочетание в шутку употребил Ян Маккей, экс-лидер Minor Threat и родоначальник sXe. Тогда придумали называть эмокором группы, когда хотели их обругать. Типа не хардкор это, а эмоциональный кор какой-то. Но потом фраза прижилась, и так стали называть новый стиль музыки.
Сейчас уже эмо можно услышать на большой сцене. За это многие группы обвиняются в нарушении идеалов DIY. Вообще стандартная ситуация 🙂
Предыстория ЭМО музыки.
После того как Minor Threat распался в конце 1983 г., полная жизни вашингтонская хардкор-панковая сцена, вспыхнувшая в 1981 г., кажется, стала терять запал и свежие идеи в рамках образовавшегося вашингтонского хардкорового звучания. Тоскливый, посмертный диск Minor Threat «Salad Days» вышел в 1984 г. и забил последний гвоздь в гроб вашингтонского хардкора. Группы по всей стране стали искать новые направления: DRI и Bad Brains начали играть легкий метал, 7Seconds ушел в U2 джангл-альтернатив, и т.д. Стиль Вашингтона стал изменяться в основном по направлению к мелодическому року с панковской чувственностью.
1984 год обозначил выход альбома «Zen Arcade» группы Hьsker Dь из Миннеаполиса, ставший свидетельством их нового сочного звука, сочетавшего мягкую, негативную вокальную подачу и средние гитары с замедленными роковыми темпами и более легким, хаотичным написанием песен. Весной 1984 из членов The Untouchables, Faith и Deadline сформировалась новая группа под названием Rites Of Spring. Эта группа сохранила панковскую скорость и бешенство, но подмешивает совершенно новую вокальную технику. Певец Guy Picciotto почти всё время удерживает неистовый панковый стиль пения, время, от времени углубляясь в очень личную лирику, окрашенную эмоциями и духовными исканиями. В кульминационных моментах его голос превращается в горловой, сиплый, девчачий стон.
