How to Draw Cartoon Monsters using a unique creature

Drawing cartoon monsters can be a fun task if you like to illustrate imaginary creatures. The concept of monsters is so vague that you can do virtually anything you can think of without doing something wrong. These creatures can have eight legs, seven eyes, four arms and two heads and still seem credible. All you have to do is draw whatever you have in mind.

Monsters are popular in movies, books, cartoons and graphic novels. It’s hard to say when these creatures first appeared, but it’s safe to say that they’ve been around for a long time. The most popular monsters to date are certainly Bigfoot, vampires and werewolves. They are without a doubt the most popular theme in B-movies!

One thing most cartoon monsters have in common is the fact that they look scary. To do so, we need to add a few features that are repulsive and / or frightening. Our fun sample below is gifted with several long sharp teeth (1). Eyes are yellow and surrounded by a dark area.

On the back of the character, you can see long hair (2). This is not scary, but it’s gross! The creature also has a long pointed tail (3) near the back legs. Arms are longer than the legs and long nails are covering the fingers (5). The neck of our subject is thick and short (4). The skin of the monster is gray and filled with subtle textures.

This monster is really well designed. The body is made from large irregular shapes that are getting narrower near the legs. Teeth are represented by small triangles and ears are also made from this sharp shape. A small dot is used to form the eye.

For the arms and legs, you can use a multitude of small circles and oval shapes. Nails are done using long triangles. Excellent! This fun monster is a good example of what you can do using your imagination. It’s now time to draw a fun creature using simpler elements.

This fun cartoon character is represented by a large rectangle. This shape will be used to draw the head and the body all at once. Next, sketch the legs using long curved lines. You can also polish the silhouette of the subject by adding round corners on the rectangle.

Next, add the arms using more curved lines. More tiny nails are added on the feet and hands of the creature. Inside the body, you can sketch the face of the beast. Eyes are made from circles that are different in sizes. A long line is used to form the mouth. The teeth is done using a triangle. Add colors inside the image and you are done.

How to Draw a Monster

On the planet Earth there is a huge number of different cultures, and each of them has its own myths and legends. They tell of bold heroes, beautiful ladies and terrible monsters. And it’s about such a monster that will be today’s lesson.

We decided to make a collective image of the monster, and in this lesson we will describe the basic principles of drawing monsters. So let’s start the tutorial on how to draw a monster.

Step 1

If we draw a monster, resembling a human (not some kind of cthulhu), we need to start from the skeleton. Using very light, almost invisible lines, we need to sketch the outlines of the “stickman” – a man consisting of circles and lines. As you can see, everything is very simple – the head, thorax and pelvis are drawn in the form of ovals, and the arms, legs and spine in the form of simple lines.

Step 2

In order to make it easier for us to draw details of the face, we need to sketch two lines intersecting in the center of the head. Next, outline the shape of the torso and limbs with simple geometric shapes. Sketch out the outlines of the hands and feet and move to the next step of the lesson about how to draw a monster.

Step 3

Now it’s time for us to works with the details. Starting with this step, we will use dark and clear lines. Orienting the horizontal lines from the previous step, draw out evil eyes. A little lower draw out the nose and a wide-open mouth dotted with teeth. We add wrinkles on the face and move further.

Step 4

We continue to draw the head of the monster in details. First of all draw out pointed ears and outlines of the face. Using clear lines draw out hair and beard, as shown in our example. Remove all unnecessary lines from the head and move to the next step.

Step 5

A fairly simple step in which, with the help of smooth lines, we need to draw out the outlines of the torso. You can add a few details to the monster’s body. For example, you can draw armor or wings, to make your monster more interesting.

Step 6

Now let’s work with the arms of our monster. Using short strokes draw out the outlines of the hairy arms of the scary monster. Arms must turn out to be powerful and muscular. Next, draw large hands with sharp claws.

Step 7

In this step, we will work with the lower part of the monster body. Draw out the outlines of the feet, dressed in tattered pants. Next, draw large feet (you can draw long and sharp claws on them like on the hands) and remove all the remaining unnecessary lines.

Step 8

The monster drawing is almost ready, but it looks very flat. In order for the drawing to look more lively and voluminous, we will add shadows. In our example, we made black and contrast shadows like in comics, but you can draw shadows in a different style.

Introduction: How to Draw Godzilla: the King of the Monsters

In this Instructables we’ll show you how to draw Godzilla The King of the Monsters from the new Godzilla movie remake.

Step 1: Draw the Head

First, draw a basic outline of the head. Draw a sketch of the head first focusing on the mouth because the mouth is a more detailed part of the head due to the mouth’s shape, teeth, and tongue. Then focus on the eyes making a deep socket and an angry brow on top. Then the nose should be a little round.

Step 2: Drawing the Neck and Back

In this step you’ll mainly be focusing on the scales on Godzillas back and neck. Once again, draw a basic out line. I started at the neck where it connects with the head. I did the head first, because we will be working our way down to the tail. We will be focusing on the spikes which are lined on his back and one of the most distinguishing details of the King of the Monsters.(Try to make the spikes sharp and almost random looking).

Step 3: Drawing the Arm and Leg

The third step, is to draw the out line of the arm and leg. First you need to make an outline of the arm that lies on top of the stomach and behind the neck then draw the outline of the stomach that connects to the hind leg. Remember you need to make space for Godzilla’s leg because it is huge.

Step 4: Drawing the Tail and Foreground

Now that you have the main outline of Godzilla’s body and his spikes, you can draw his massive tail. You have to draw his tail proportionately from the base of his rear end to the edge of the paper and connect it to the foreground. But you won’t actually see the tail just the spikes on the tail rising from the water, then add the foreground’s outline.

Step 5: Adding Detail and Shading

First, add the dark shades of Godzilla’s ridges and his scales. Then add the darker shades of Godzilla’s shadow under his neck, body, and behind his leg where it connects with the tail. Then add the shades of Godzilla’s spikes. Start with the details on the face, the mouth has folds in the skin because Godzilla’s mouth is open you’ll also need to shade inside his mouth. Then draw the nostril slanted a little to the right. Now the eyes, shade his eye socket in to make it look dark, then draw a ridge that goes to his back behind the spikes following the line where the angry brow ends, then shade and do the same to the ridge that’s to the right and down to the beginning of the first ridge. Now you just need to add some scales to him, making sure the spaces between the scales are dark these scales are all over him, but don’t overdo them.

Step 6: Foreground and Background Details

Starting with the foreground you’re going to want to draw water splashing on the tail spikes and a huge splash on the leg causing waves and making the water rise be sure to draw that too. Then draw a sunken aircraft carrier to the left of Godzilla showing only the bow and the rest of the ship underwater except for the tower, which is risen above the water, and another aircraft carrier crashing into the right side of his leg and only show the bow of this ship too the rest is underwater. Now in the background draw some fighter planes spinning out of control and draw a dark sky.

Step 7: Presto.

The King of Monsters is ready to destroy a city and look good doing it!

How to draw a Monster

Step 1

Drawing a monster is not much different from the process of portraying a human, only the details will differ. We begin the creation of the body of a monster with its skeleton. It is simple, consists of simple circles, ovals and lines.
