Step 15: Draw the shape of the blue tit’s other foot around the guide on the left. Don’t overlap the first foot. Use wavy lines to draw the toes and draw a curved, pointy shape at the bottom of the toes for the claws.
Step 16: Darken the outer edges of the initial guides to create the shape of the Eurasian blue tit’s body. Use short strokes as you follow the path of the guide at the bottom for the fluffy underside of the body. Near the lower section of the top edge, draw a couple of curved lines for the other folded wing.
Step 17: Draw a few more short strokes on the underside for the fluffy base of the tail. Darken the shape on the lower, right side to create the blue tit’s tail. Make the shape curvier at the tip and add a few lines inside for feathers.
Step 18: Draw a stick or a rock under the feet to give the bird something to stand on so it doesn’t appear to be floating. For a stick like this, draw a couple of lines across the bottom but don’t overlap the shape of the blue tit’s feet. On the right side, draw a series of jagged lines to give the stick a broken appearance.
Step 19: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing.
Final Step: Color your Eurasian blue tit drawing! Use dark blue with a bit of black for the pattern on the head. Use light blue for the top of the bird’s head, the wings and even a bit on the legs. Use different shades of blue on these sections and blend them together. Color lightly first and slowly build up the color. Use brown for the eye.
Color the back yellow-green with a bit of light brown. Use yellow for the chest and underside of the body. Add a bit of light brown under the wing and gray on the underside for shadows. Use a bit of gray on the white patches on the head. Lightly color the beak and legs black. Leave a strip on the beak blank for shine. Add some black stripes on the bird’s legs for detail. Use a blend of light brown, dark brown, gray and a bit of yellow to color the stick. It’s a good idea to use reference as you draw for a more accurate depiction of a blue tit bird. Step 1: First, draw the pointed beak of the Great Tit. Then, use a curved line to draw the rounded head of the bird. Now, draw a tiny oval for the eye and then draw a small line across the beak to show the beak separation.
Step 2: Draw the rounded body of the Great Tit using curved lines. Draw the lower part of the bird’s body using a wavy line. Leave some blank space for the wing and tail.
Step 3: Draw slanting lines to outline the pointed wing as shown in the image. Draw the feather detail on the wing.
Step 4: Draw the long and thin tail of the Great Tit using curved lines and gently slanting lines. Draw the edge of the tail feathers using a wavy line.
Step 5: Start from the body of the bird and draw two slanting lines for the leg. Then, draw three claws that are curved in at the ends as shown in the image. Leave some space between the claws.
Step 6: Let us now add the feather details of the Great Tit using curved lines on the wing and a slanting line on the tail. Draw the curved ring detail on the bird’s neck and use a wavy line to draw the roughly triangle shaped marking on the face. Add the feather detail on the top of its head using a small wavy line, taking care to follow the rounded outline of the head.
Step 7: To make it look like the Great Tit is sitting on a tree branch, draw two slanting lines in the space between the bird’s claws. The drawing is now complete and you can start to color it.
Interesting Facts about the Great Tit (Parus major):
The great tit is a bird commonly found in urban gardens throughout Europe, Asia and even Northern Africa. In general, the Great Tit has a green and yellow body and black head with a white cheek patch. However, there are actually fourteen subspecies of Great Tit, and there can be subtle differences in how they look.
The great tit is one of the most widely-spread types of birds. They enjoy living in mixed woodland areas but also tend to live in the same places people do. Because they have been so readily able to adapt to humans, Great Tits are not in any danger of losing numbers or becoming extinct.
