Phantom Forces is a first-person shooter game made by StyLiS Studios. It is heavily inspired by Battlefield 4 as well as Litozinnamon’s older projects such as Call of Robloxia 5.

Phantom Forces has seen a mostly positive reception with the community, with an estimated 15:1 like-to-dislike ratio and a long-standing spot on the front page, often retaining a position in the first five most popular games.

What was it like developing Phantom Forces? A lot of trial and error. Most of the beginning development was experimenting with different approaches to getting certain mechanics to work with Roblox’s technical limitations and limited tools. Organization also tends to deteriorate over time due to our lack of professional experience. Over the couple years of its development we have scrapped and rebuilt major parts of the game from scratch such as the gun framework and the UI framework multiple times and plan to do so again in the near future as structural issues rise again. Much of the challenge in development comes from the lack of foresight in how big the project would ever become. We did not expect the amount of success PF would consistently maintain, expecting it to die out in a few years so that we would naturally move onto a new project. Because it still has a strong and potentially continually growing player base, we are motivated to keep adding new content to the game. However, this means major additions of code into a framework structure that wasn’t quite planned out far enough to anticipate new game mechanics or customization options, leading us to increasing organizational problems. Another challenge is managing a ton of community contributors as the game grows. As an initial small group of three developers, we have somehow inevitably expanded to an entire Discord community of people who actively want to help with content creation, suggestions, map additions, and so forth. It becomes more difficult to organize the direction of development because everyone is always throwing in their own ideas, occasionally leading to internal conflicts even without involving the lead developers. But since I am always getting more busy with school and having less time to work on development, these contributors have filled in the gap of content creation that I would normally have done back in the early development stages. What challenges did you have to overcome while developing? What was the most challenging? Same as previous answer. What did you enjoy most while developing Phantom Forces? The best part about developing Phantom Forces is testing new game mechanics or content on live servers with random players who drop in for feedback. It is incredibly rewarding to play a successful test build of the game in a way that I envision it to work and seeing other players agree with my direction and implementation. Making steady progress on a part of the game, checking that each stage of it works correctly in these test sessions, and knowing exactly what to add next is what motivates me to keep developing Phantom Forces. What was it like to develop a game that was featured in an official Roblox event? In practice, there wasn’t really anything more special about developing a game featured in an official Roblox event. Getting selected was an honor, but the actual development was more or less the same with the exception that we now had to follow certain guidelines from our client. Usually we all develop and work at different paces, whenever we liked or wanted to push updates. Here, we had to follow up more consistently with our supervisor with our progress, getting the feeling of a more professional work environment with a specific project schedule. It felt very similar to our Accelerator internship experience at the Roblox HQ and funny enough we were working with the same Roblox admin who was managing us. It was fairly easy and comfortable to discuss ideas with our supervisor for the event, such as our progress and technical problems Roblox needed to address on their end to get certain things working. And it is a great feeling to see the event go live and hear that the upper heads at Roblox say they like what’s going on. Is there anything else you’d like to share? Phantom Forces has always been a very interesting hybrid first person shooter of many of today’s most popular shooters. By studying popular FPS games, I often find out what aspects of their gameplay are frustrating as a player and what aspects are enjoyable. It is through getting inspired by what developers get right in mainstream FPS titles and borrowing pieces of these effective ideas to work towards creating an idealized vision of my own FPS game.

There are 7 total gamemodes; six of them are available for players to pick in a general server. All of them include two teams which are Phantoms and Ghosts.

Team Deathmatch

A race between teams to get the most kills up to 200. One team wins if they reach a total of 200 kills or has the highest number of kills when the 15-minute time limit is reached.

Flare Domination

Flare Domination was the second gamemode to be added to the game. There are three capture points (A, B and C), which give teams points when captured. The more capture points a team owns, the faster a team’s score increases. The first team to reach 200 points wins the round. If the timer reaches zero, one team with the most points wins.

King of the Hill

Both teams start with 600 points. The gamemode runs on a «health» style system; when a team controls the hill, the opposing team loses points. The first team to lose all their points or the team with the least points when the timer runs out loses the round.

Kill Confirmed

In this gamemode, when players are killed, they drop a Dog Tag. Phantoms and Ghosts must pick up a Dog Tag from the opposing team in order to score points. Like Team Deathmatch, kills play a huge role in this mode. If a team member collects another team member’s Dog Tag, the kill will be denied.

Capture the Flag

In this gamemode, both teams must pick up the opposing team’s flag and return it to their home base in order to score points. The first team to capture 5 flags or has the most flags captured before time runs out wins.

Infection (Halloween 2019)

In this gamemode, one player is chosen to be infected while the other players try to defend themselves from those who are infected. After some time three portals shows up to save those who are not infected. It is worthy to note that those portals are in the same position as those capture points in Flare Domination. If no one is left not infected, the infected wins. If a survivor has traveled through a portal, the survivors wins. To those who won in this gamemode, they are awarded with a scythe. This gamemode is only accessible in private servers using the command «/map:inf».

Gun Game

In this gamemode,One Player of 1 team must get 32 kills to win. This gamemode is only accessible in private servers

Hard Point

Hard Point is the latest gamemode to be added. In this gamemode, Players have to be on the point. The more players of the same team, the more points the team will get. When the team gets 700 points or have the most number of points, they win the round. The team that has the least number of points will lose the round. The team cannot get points if there is an equivalent or higher amount of players of the opposing team to the team, the team cannot receive points from it

Crane Site

Crane Site is one of the original maps of the game. Its iconic crane (hence the name) was featured in one of the original thumbnails for the game. Depending on the game mode, the crane can be one of the most useful spots on the map or useless. Skilled players will usually farm kills off of people who camp on the crane. The original Crane Site map also contained buildings with cramped staircases, making them perfect spots for knife fights. Since the 2.0.0 update, this map was revamped and made much more detailed.

Desert Storm

One of the most intense maps of the game, Desert Storm is known for its alleyways and trenches, as well as its initial lighting scheme. There are a few sniping spots from inside buildings, but it is easy to be exposed. Streets have two-story buildings lining them, making the map perfect for trapping a group advance. The trench in the middle of the map allows navigation to almost any part of the map easy without experiencing much resistance. However, the staircases leading to the trench are steep and a player with a knife can easily jump other players without being seen. Since the 2.0.0 update, this map was revamped and made much more detailed.

Mall (formerly known as Mall Construction)

The Mall map is a more recent map in the game. It is made up of a 2-story building, not including the ground floor and the roof. Just like the Crane in the Crane Site, the roof can be a valuable asset depending on the game mode. The roof is easy to camp on and it’s really not hard to keep control of all the ladders/staircases that are in the map. There is a crane that is smaller than the Crane in Crane Site but it isn’t climbable. The lag issues with this map have been fixed.

Metro

The map Metro consists of a subway and 2 large corridors that lead into a central hub, along with advertisement boards up along some parts of the map. It contains side routes which allow for spawnkilling, ambushing, distracting opposing team for teammates to do the objective. However, player spawns are usually pretty far from the actual «Fighting Zone» of the map, and notorious for causing players to lag, as it is a «Closed Battlefield» system, compared with other maps, in which they are mostly open (save for the building fighting, I.E. City Mall, while the fighting takes place inside most of the time, fighting can happen in the mall’s courtyard.) Since it is a big map, snipers can be used, but it is usually hard to do so mainly because there is a lot of cover for players to avoid snipers. Side routes in the upper floor can lead to spawn camping for one team. Also, the players that take the side routes usually equip rifles or carbines to disrupt the enemy team more.

Ravod 911

This map is based on Zavod 311 from Battlefield 4. It plays out exactly the same, minus a few crates and tanks in the Team Deathmatch area of Zavod 311 (Russian: Завод 311 «Factory 311»). It is set in an abandoned Cold War-era Soviet tank factory and the forested area around it. The map is centered around the C, D and E flags of Zavod 311. It consists of a hill and 3 huts on the Ghosts spawn, and the 2 assembly towers near the Phantom spawn. Players can climb up to the top of these two towers, and there is also an exploit to get the very top, which isn’t actually accessible. The map also features a tunnel system, which is accessible on both sides of the towers, and runs through the ground in between. Lot’s of players snipe on the hills and the two assembly towers. This map features a lot of action like its Battlefield 4 counterpart, and is almost identical, except for the name (Ravod 911) and missing a few decorative features.

Crane Site Revamp

Crane Site Revamp is a map that is very snowy and is, as suggested, a revamp of the former Crane Site. The map has 2 cranes across from each other, which leads to a lot of people sniping each other from both cranes. On the King of the Hill gamemode, the hill is on top of the parking lot with a lot of cover, which is needed due to the 2 cranes. The office buildings are closer to the parking lot, which means that you have to defend quite a bit while on the hill. The back half of the map has the standard crane site buildings, but the front of the map has buildings similar to ones on a rig, and what looked to be a small oil rig. Crane Site Revamp was removed in update 2.0.0, but was readded in 5.5.1.

Base Luna

This map took place in space and on the Moon. Teams are spawned in different rocket launch areas or on the surface of the Moon. Players also have the ability to jump high because there is low gravity. A railgun was exclusively made for this map. This map was only available during the 2016 ROBLOX Universe event.

Ruins

Ruins is one of the most expansive and detailed maps in the game, stretching over a ≈350×650 stud area (i.e. ≈227500 studs²), with ≈85 studs of vertical height from the floor of the catacombs to the top of the clerestory (≈70 from the ground floor.) This makes for a large play area. There is a mixture of cover, both high and low, to allow for most playstyles. However, close quarter weaponry is largely disadvantaged in this map due to much of the play area having wide open sightlines. A grid system of catacombs runs underneath the map to provide access to both graveyards and the underside of the altar, which features some of the longest unobstructed sightlines. It was originally supposed to be only part of the Ready Player One event, but remained playable after the event ended.

Mirage

Mirage is a map that was released on the 4th of July update of 2018. Mirage consists of many tall buildings, a highway and two cranes. It is a large size construction site, located in a sandy area, possibly giving the map its name. There are many hiding spots in the buildings and two large cranes giving places to snipe enemies and a possibility to access the buildings below their tips. There are also billboards along the highway that can be accessed, giving a form of cover from enemies on the highway.

Rig is a map added in New Steel Part 2. The map takes place on an oil rig in the middle of the ocean. The map is small but there is extremely fierce fighting due to a large number of players in a small area. There are a lot of blind spots on this map from above and from corridors whilst out in the open, so it’s a good idea for players to check their back a lot. It’s also worth noting that most of the map’s surfaces are metal, so it is very hard for a player to sneak around without other players knowing where they are.

Refinery

Refinery is a map added in the Winter Update (Part 1) of 2018.

Blizzard was added in 2019.

Phantom Forces hosted the Ready Player One event in 2018, and after the event concluded the JKey was allowed to be kept by all players who had unlocked it during this time.

April Fools

During April Fools 2016, the game was renamed to «AIMBOT FORCES» and «Aimbot» was sold for 100 Robux.

During April Fools 2017, the maps were put upside down and many weapons became overpowered.

During April Fools 2019, some weapons like BFG-50 and TEC-9 switched damage property, making the TEC-9 hilariously overpowered and being called the KEK-9, and the BFG-50 became super underpowered although it was an automatic and had 50 bullets.

During April Fools 2020, some maps became upside down, the name of the map has the word ‘Australian’ in front, some maps enlarged, footsteps became duck quacking noises, gun shots became pew pew sound, and grenade explosion turns into ‘KABOOM’ sound from the Demoman in Team Fortress 2.

Lawsuits

On June 22, 2016, movie theater chain Cinemark filed a lawsuit against the Roblox Corporation for the in-game movie theater map, which featured Finding Dory logos.

Также на верхней панели можно настроить отображение ника и информацию о своем персонаже. При помощи настроек можно отрегулировать правильное отображение персонажа, разрешение и качество.

В меню выбора и кастомизации расположен чат, где можно пообщаться с другими юзерами. Также отображается чат, который на данный момент в игре.

Сражения и возможности

Все персонажи могут выбрать локацию, куда отправиться или рандомно переместиться. Как и в других шутерах, здесь важно понимание локации и разбираться в дополнительных тайниках, где может спрятаться противник.

На карте присутствуют два типа участников: красные, а другие синие. Цвет противника отображается, поэтому его легко можно заметить. Единственный недостаток состоит в том, что это маленькие точки, которые быстро перемещаются. Есть своя база, куда лучше всего не заходить одному. Если участник другой команды случайно попадает к противнику – его быстро убью, а это уменьшает вероятность победы своей команды.

Кейсы – это небольшие подарки, которые выпадают в рандомных ситуациях. Например, если игрок хорошо показал себя или постоянно помогал своим товарищам. В таком случае, по окончанию раунда, у него высвечивается сообщение, что получен кейс. Чтобы открыть его, нужно воспользоваться ключом.

Как играть с друзьями

Такие площадки предназначены для командной игры, поэтому позвать своих друзей – будет разумной идеей. Некоторые локации интегрированы с других игр:

Во время игры, пользователь может следить за тем, как уничтожают противников или его соратников. Будет отображаться информация относительно текущего количества участников в одной команде.

При помощи чата, игроки могут сообщать друг другу, где находятся враги. Для этого нужно настроить чат на общее только со своими союзниками. В противном случае, информацию о местонахождении будут знать и участники другой команды, а значит – сменять локацию. Локации на карте постоянно меняются, особенно выбирая рандомный выбор. При этом, каждую из них можно детально изучить, понять каждый отдельный тайник.

Проблема с которой могут столкнуться пользователи, планирующие играть вместе – выбор плента. Игра может распределить их в разные команды или же на разные площадки.

Поэтому, необходимо использовать поиск карты и выбирать её самостоятельно. После бессонных ночей за Apex Legends я слегка устал и решил попробовать что-то более простое. Что-то не требующее координации, а дающее простое тупое веселье. По совету друга зашел в Roblox и начал бороздить океан игр. Введу вас в курс дела: Roblox это конструктор, в котором можно создать все что угодно. От гоночных симуляторов до масштабных FPS шутеров и порнографических материалов. Считается, что это пристанище 9-летних детей.

Сначала я наткнулся на копию CS GO. Она сделана неплохо, но регистрация попаданий оставляет желать лучшего. Возникла мысль, что все игры каталога находятся на таком же уровне и нет смысла тратить время. Однако, я попробовал Phantom Forces и застрял в ней на десяток часов.
Phantom Forces делала команда из 6 человек. Они уже были прославленными разработчиками игр на основе Roblox и по сути создали свой лучший проект. Со стороны кажется, что игра является обычной копиркой с современных шутеров без отличительных особенностей. Но уже после двух игр ты понимаешь, что кроличья нора глубже чем кажется.
Если бы существовала игра исключительно для бумеров вроде меня, то это была бы Phantom Forces. В нее внедрены самые любимые механики из игр начала 10х годов. Геймплей вырезан подчистую из Battlefield 3-4. 4 класса, все как вы любите. Даже карты имитируют большого брата. Завод, метро и т.д. Никаких пустынь или бесконечных полей со снайперами. Игра вобрала в себя и черты Call of Duty, а именно — режимы King of the Hill и Kill Confirmed, которые тепло любимы старперами вроде меня. Не обошлось и без захвата флага, который тут уж очень динамичен.

Так, теперь я расскажу о самом смешном заимствовании.

Эта игра вдохновлялась CS GO во многих моментах. Особенно в модели монетизации всего и вся. После каждой игры можно получить либо кейс, либо ключ к нему. Вместо крутых ножей и скинов на АВП, тут есть невзрачные скины токсичного цвета. Поначалу я думал, что это просто имитация и издевка над современными играми-сервисами. Но потом обнаружил, что да, это все можно купить за реальные деньги. А конкретно за Roblox баксы. О, тут даже можно купить подарочную карту с R-баксами, идеальный подарок для любого эпического геймера. Если где-то ваши дети и могут подсесть на азартные игры, то скорее всего в роблоксе.

Мне кажется, что отсутствие визуальных эффектов игре только на пользу. Головы персонажей сильно выделяются на общем фоне. Ставить хэдшоты неимоверно приятно. Врага всегда видно издалека. Это дает возможность сразу же выбрать тактику боя. Либо подойти с фланга, либо попытаться уничтожить с дистанции. Каждое такое столкновение гарантирует выбросы адреналина — прямо как в старые времена.
И это я еще не рассказал про снайперский геймплей. Он бесподобен!
Некоторые карты просто идеальны для тренировки квикскоупа и прочих сложных иностранных слов, значение которых я не особо знаю. Все как-то очень правильно работает, такого никак не ожидаешь от подобного проекта.

Но я не просто так заметил, что только некоторые карты хороши. При запуске ты сразу же появляешься на экране выброски в уже идущем матче. Он мог только начаться, а мог и закончиться как только ты зашел. И нигде заранее нельзя узнать, что это за карта и режим. По сути нужно бегать с сервера на сервер в надежде найти что-то годное. Но тут скорее виновата структура самого роблокса, который запускается через сайт. Старожилы помнят, как в третью батлу можно было заходить только через Batlelog. Вот настолько же неудобно.
Играют по большей части школьники из бедных семей и люди, которые никак не могут отпустить прошлое. Очень интересно наблюдать, как старое смешивается с молодым и образует гремучую токсичную смесь.

Если бы меня спросили, зачем я потратил столько времени на эту игру, мой ответ был бы очень прямолинеен. Это просто весело. Как будто я возвращаюсь в прошлое и беспорядочно прыгаю с сервера на сервер, делаю кил-стрики и радуюсь каждому хэдшоту. И к тому же абсолютно бесплатно.
В эту игру было вложено много любви и усердия. У нее неплохой онлайн, регулярные апдейты и добротный геймплей. Мне кажется, что для начального образования ребенка в плане шутеров вполне пойдет. Разработчики сами с иронией относятся к проекту, так что если крутые геймеры будут бить вас в подворотне из-за роблокса, просто скажите, что играли ради мемов.

Round display for TDM.

A traditional, if not classic game mode, Team Deathmatch (TDM) has one and only one objective: eliminate enemy players. A single point is awarded to the player’s team when they score a kill. Points cannot be lost in any way.

As no points are awarded for special objectives in this mode, this mode could be considered the worst way to farm experience. At the same time, however, it is the simplest gamemode: Team Deathmatch encourages spreading out across the entire map, hunting down single enemies to quickly eliminate them before they can eliminate the player’s teammates. This also makes Team Deathmatch one of the hardest gamemodes to recover from if a team is losing, as it relies on scoring kills and not dying, whereas other gamemodes feature ways to «catch up» with opponents who are winning.

A round of Team Deathmatch will last 15 minutes, or until a team reaches a total of 200 kills.

Players can also score points by killing enemies, much like in Team Deathmatch. This will subtract 1 point from the enemy team. Even if a team has managed to obtain a shutout and is close to winning, if the other team is killing enemies fast enough without dying, they can prolong the round.

A round of Flare Domination will last 15 minutes, or until a team reaches a total of 250 points.

King of the Hill

Round display for KotH.

King of the Hill (KotH for short) is an objective-based game mode. A single objective or «hill», 15 studs in radius, is placed at a central point of the map, and is marked with a large floating «H» visible in the world. A prop is placed directly in the center of this hill. Players must rush to the point to capture it. Much like in Flare Domination, the hill will color itself to mark its owner. The same capturing conventions work in KotH as well, in that a capture takes 5 seconds, and can be sped up with up to 3 players standing on the capture point, and that captures can be denied as long as a player from the owning team stands on it.

Where King of the Hill differs is that it is an «attrition» style of gamemode (similar to the Conquest gamemode of older Battlefield games). Teams start off with 600 points or «tickets», cannot regain points, and will only lose them. The team that owns the hill will bleed one point from the enemy team every ten seconds, but up to 3 players can remain on the hill («holding» the hill) to dramatically increase the rate at which the enemy team will bleed points. Each interval where the hill is «held» will give 10 EXP to the players currently standing on the hill. Kills will drain 1 point from the enemy team.

Points are drained at the following rates:

It takes exactly 10 minutes and 7.5 seconds for a single player to capture and hold the hill to drain an entire enemy team’s stockpile of points from 600 to 0, from the point of capture up until the enemy team reaches 0 points. This does not include kills or deaths.

Capture the Flag

Capture the Flag (CTF) is an objective-based game mode. Two flag bases are placed, one in each team’s spawn area. A flag, represented by a glowing suitcase, is attached to each base. Players must collect the enemy flag and return it to their base to score a point.

A flag carrier is highly vulnerable. There is a 15 second grace period where they will not be visible to everyone, but the indicator will still be visible above them, meaning that if someone has line-of-sight, they will be able to see the «Stolen!» indicator above the enemy’s head. When the flag is stolen they leave a trail to let your allies know where they are. Once the timer expires, the carrier will be visible through all walls with the «Stolen!» indicator. Allies will get an indicator to defend their runner. If a runner dies, they will drop the flag directly on the spot that they die at. A team can reclaim their own flag instantaneously just by touching it, but it will automatically return to its base if nobody claims it after 60 seconds. If another runner claims the flag before the owner’s team collects it again, they will have a 15 second grace period, just like if they had picked it up from the base.

Once a flag is returned to its base, it will be claimed and net the team a point, but only if the team still has their own flag. If both teams are holding onto their enemy’s flag, a stalemate situation will result where neither team will be able to capture unless they reclaim their flag.

The player who captures the flag will get 500 EXP. By claiming the flag, all team players will receive 250 EXP.

A round of Capture the Flag will last 10 minutes, or until a team captures 5 flags.

Kill Confirmed

Rewards for kills are reduced to 50 points. Claiming an enemy dogtag, regardless of who the kill was made by, awards the collecting player 100 points. If an enemy dogtag is claimed by an ally, the killer is awarded with 25 points for their time. Assists are not adjusted, meaning that it is possible to gain more experience from an assist-as-kill compared to a normal kill in other modes (a kill is 50 points, collecting a dogtag is 100 points. Since assist-as-kills only apply when dealing 51 points of damage or more, this means any assist-as-kill where the player collects the dogtag from the assist-as-kill will earn more than the 150 point base.)

The dogtags that drop from players.

To deny enemies from gaining progression, allies can claim the dogtags from fallen allies. They are awarded with 75 points for the effort. You can get 50 points for denying your own kill. Dogtags will also naturally despawn after a short period of time, meaning that it is imperative that dogtags are collected as quickly as possible to both deny the enemy from scoring and allowing the allied team to score.

A round of Kill Confirmed will last 15 minutes, or until a team collects a total of 150 dogtags.

Hard Point

Hard Point is a game mode released after the Crimbo Update (Christmas 2020 Update). It is essentially King of the Hill with a twist–every minute, the flare changes location. This can be beneficial since it can spawn close to the player’s active spawns, or vice versa if it activates in enemy territory. The point has several possible locations, usually a mixture of the points seen in King of the Hill and Flare Domination. There is also a chance that the point doesn’t move at all after each minute. Players must stand on the point in order to gain points–objectives are only «captured» when players are standing on it.

A team gains 1 point for every player standing on the point every second. If players on both sides stand on the point, the team with the most players on the point will get the points. There is no way to reduce the number of points the enemy team has already amassed. Kills will not add or remove points.

A round of Hard Point will last 15 minutes, or until a team earns 600 points.

Tag Run

Tag Run is a game mode released in the May Update. In Tag Run, players have to kill other players to collect tags like they would in Kill Confirmed. However, instead of instantly gaining score for their team, players have to carry their collected tags to a «Recollection Point», which can be found in any of the Flare Domination objective locations.

Players gain 25 XP for killing enemies and picking up a tag or a stack of tags. Redeeming the tag gives 50 base XP for redeeming a tag and it parabolically grows the more tags the player redeems at once. Each enemy tag redeemed adds onto the player’s team score, while friendly tags redeemed are removed from gameplay and do not influence any team scores.

A round of Tag Run lasts 10 minutes or until either team reaches 150 points

Gun Game

Gun Game is a fast paced gamemode designed to test one’s adaptability and mastery of various weaponry. Each and every weapon is a complete unknown until it is obtained, and it could be the perfect combination of attachments, a bone-stock weapon, or the worst possible combination of attachments.

At the start of a round of Gun Game, a random list of guns with random attachments will be generated. Players will start off with the first weapon, no secondary weapon, and the melee weapon from their currently equipped loadout. They will also have three frag grenades, as normal. They must then kill enemy players on the opposing team in order to rank up their weapon rank. Upon a successful kill, they will be awarded the next weapon in the list. Players that are killed do not drop their weapons. If a player is killed with a melee weapon, they will be «ranked down» and lose one kill.

The last five kills in the round will output a message in the chat stating how close the player is to victory. When the player is on their last kill, the primary weapon will be a special golden ZIP 22, called the LA RATA. It cannot aim down sights, has rat shot and the PRO MAG (50 round Drum) equipped. When they score a kill with the LA RATA, they will end the game.

A single «point» is gained for each kill or assist-as-kill, though it is not tracked. A single point is lost every time the player is killed by a melee weapon. This gamemode can have as many or as few points as the VIP server owner dictates, but defaults to 32. Each team starts with 1 point.

During Update 4.5.3 (Summer Update #3), Gun Game was available for all up-to-date public servers, but only for a limited amount of time.

Infection

Infection was a game mode exclusive to the Halloween 2019 update. It is a survival mode, pitting the Phantoms faction versus the Reapers. After the event, this game mode was removed from the game’s main pool and was temporarily available only to VIP servers, but was later fully removed from the game’s code.

At the beginning, everyone was a Phantom, but one player was chosen to be Patient Zero, an incredibly powerful Reaper. The Phantoms had to survive until extraction arrived in the form of teleporters. The Reapers had to eliminate every Phantom they can before they all teleport away. If even one of the Phantoms managed to teleport away by standing for 5 seconds inside of one of the teleporters, the Reapers were considered defeated and the Phantoms won.

A Reaper from back side view

In this game mode, the time was set to midnight, and a black fog limited visibility. This allowed the Reapers to move around undetected until visually sighted by a Phantom.

Phantoms spawned in with their loadout of choice. Both weapons got double the ammo reserves, so if a weapon has 120 rounds of reserve ammunition normally, this was doubled to 240. Phantoms do not drop their weapons on death, meaning that it was impossible to recover any more ammo for existing weapons, nor was it possible to swap to a different weapon that would normally be dropped by a dead player.

Reapers spawned in with no weapons besides for the Reaper (melee), which meant that Reapers were required to eliminate all the Phantoms with just the melee given to them, an arduous task on its own.

Additionally, Phantoms were not allowed to spot enemies. After a Phantom died, they would respawn as a Reaper, regardless of the method of death. Even resetting to the main menu will turn a Phantom into a Reaper.

A Teleporter where that Phantom needs to get in before they get killed by the Reaper.

In the final minute of a round or if enough Phantoms were killed, teleporters would spawn around the map. These teleporters spawned at the positions used in Flare Domination. Phantoms had to get to these teleporters to extract themselves from the map. It took five seconds for a player to extract themselves from the map. This delay means that it is possible for a Reaper to stop a Phantom from extracting. Once they extracted, they would remain on the Phantoms team, but would be unable to spawn, as the round would end shortly after if no more extractions happened.

During the Halloween 2019 event, if a player were to extract as a Phantom, they would be rewarded with the exclusive melee weapon, the Reaper (melee).

Swap is a gamemode introduced in update 5.7.0, a few days after the April Fools 2022 joke. In this mode, players that kill each other automatically equip their victims’ current weapon.

In this gamemode, Players can not pick up weapons from the floor, meaning that there is no way to replace your secondary with a bigger weapon. Kills performed with primary weapons swap primaries, kills with secondaries swap secondaries and kills with melee weapons swap melee weapons.

This gamemode’s timer and scores last and function the same as they would do on Team Deathmatch. 15 minute time limit, 200 points to win
