Top 11 Ways Of Becoming A Vampire In Real Life
Everyone needs a change from time to time. Change is inevitable. That said, if you ever want to become a vampire at some point, here is how you can go about it.
Wanna become a vampire? Here’s how
A post shared by Jordan Hinchliffe (@jordan_hinchliffe) on Feb 6, 2018 at 1:49pm PST
Times are clearly changing fast. With the death of all the vampire hunters (with the exception of Vin Diesel), we are getting to see a lot of vampires on the prowl. In fact, becoming a vampire is an accepted practice in some parts of the world. That said, anyone who feels like he or she wants to be a vampire only needs to list a few things that they need to do and they can proceed. There are countless procedures and rituals that people can carry out with the ultimate intent being turning. These procedures may include having fang implants, a total change of diet and wardrobes or casting of spells. In short, for one to become a vampire, they have to be prepared to undergo a total overhaul in every aspect of their lives. There are many popular spells that can change real life Toms, Dicks and Harrys into vampires who crawl out of their coffins in the wee hours of the night to “feed”. It, therefore, goes without saying that a lot of preparation goes into becoming a vampire. And for that matter, one has to be fully prepared and 100% sure of this before trying it out. Without further ado, here are some of the popular rituals that can be used to turn any human into a vampire. No kidding.
1. Become a vampire through spell casting
A post shared by Daken (@dravencroft) on Feb 15, 2018 at 10:45am PST
The first place must be willing to go before you become a vampire is none other than the dark side. There are a good number of spells you can use in your bid to becoming a vampire. Of course, there are different kinds of spells, meaning you’ll have to pick the spell you feel will work best for you. Again, you need to be 100% sure that your ultimate goal in life is turning. This is because there is no turning back once you choose this lifestyle. My advice would, therefore be, taking your time and carrying out all the research you need. Get some blood, a badge, and an element of black magic to represent the darkness associated with a vampire’s lifestyle. Again, you have to be courageous and ballsy when casting such a strong spell because that’s what becoming a vampire is all about. As you carry out the spell, your thoughts must be aligned with exactly what you want to become. That way, the universe will align itself with your wishes and in the end, give you exactly what you want. The transformation might take a day or several days. The duration of the spell depends on how you carry out the vampire ritual. If you aren’t sure about it, then don’t do it because it will involve a lot of pain, endurance, and guts.
2. Becoming a vampire means a change in diet
This is the hardest part of becoming a vampire. As we all know – thanks to the many vampire movies – a vampire can only live on blood or energy. There are those sadistic vampires on a strict human blood diet while others feed on animal blood. That said, before becoming a real-life vampire, you need to make a list of cuisines you love and see if you are willing to let go. It is going to be a hard decision to make. But then again, you will have no other choice but to comply if you are passionate about becoming a vampire. Besides, everything in life is complicated and hard and that’s why you are always required to work hard in order to get what you want. More often than not, this will include sacrificing luxuries that you love – that will include good food. You should also figure out where you’ll be getting the fresh blood to complete your diet. You should also consider seeing your physician before switching up your diet. You need to be cleared by a doctor because you don’t want to get sick or have allergic reactions – which is quite the opposite of what to expect from a vampire. You also need to find a certified blood bank where you can access clean, screened blood that is safe for consumption. That said, carrying out thorough research is mandatory.
3. Luck can increase chances of becoming a vampire
A post shared by Fraz Ardeur (@fraz_ardeur) on Feb 15, 2018 at 10:21am PST
Certain circumstances can increase your chances of becoming a real-life vampire. My advice is, therefore, to keep looking into these circumstances especially those that surrounded your birthday. There might include being born extra hairy, a family curse, etc. If your mother hadn’t consumed enough salt during her pregnancy, then you might have a much better chance of becoming a vampire. Again, a lot of in-depth research has to be done before declaring yourself fit for becoming a vampire. Vampirism is definitely a risky lifestyle. Therefore, you need to take all the necessary precautions before even considering becoming one. If your mother was into vampirism and had a vampire stare at her during your birth or pregnancy, then your chances of becoming one are very high. Also, if you are the seventh of seven sons and got weaned before time, you have a better chance of becoming a real-life vampire. Being born during a full moon or a holy day has significance when it comes to vampirism. The same also applies when you were born with defects such as red birthmarks. It is believed to mean that you’ve been touched by a vampire or something supernatural.
4. Become a vampire using talismans/trinkets
You can make a list of countless vampire trinkets or talismans that can be used to turn a human into a real-life vampire. It is believed that such vampire trinkets always bear supernatural power. And hence when used, they can easily fulfill your dream of becoming a vampire. My advice is that when you decide to use vampire trinkets, try seeking help from people who have real knowledge about them! The last thing you need is some dude with zero knowledge swindling you. If you happen to know a real-life vampire, you can always ask for help. Chances are that the experienced vampire not only knows where to find authentic trinkets. They are also likely to teach you all about the unique strengths that each talisman bears. These vampires also know a bagful of tricks on how to survive the drastic transformation you are about to undergo. As already stated, these trinkets have really strong magic, meaning that you have to tread carefully when using any vampire trinkets. It is wise to focus on doing a lot of practice before using the talismans for your transformation. That way, you’ll avoid getting yourself into situations that are likely to cause your transformation to backfire. And since backfiring can only mean dire consequences, it goes without saying that you need to be super careful.
5. Mix your blood with a vampire’s blood
A post shared by Fraz Ardeur (@fraz_ardeur) on Feb 15, 2018 at 10:19am PST
Just in case you are as afraid of a vampire bite as I am of a human bite, then you should consider mixing your blood with vampire blood. The advantage here is that you don’t need to use a lot of vampire blood for this to work. Just a quarter of a teaspoonful is enough to initiate the process of turning. The good news is that you don’t need to inject yourself with vampire blood in order to transform. As long as you have the guts to ingest it, then you are good to go. Remember, it is important for the vampire to accept your blood in case you are up for a bite. Without his or her consent, all your efforts will be useless. It is for this reason that you need to find a real-life vampire and start negotiating. The good thing is that the vampire can always give you useful tips on how to thrive in your newfound supernatural lifestyle. For the umpteenth time, a vampire lifestyle is a difficult one. Therefore, seeking advice from a real-life vampire will always be super helpful.
6. Turn into a vampire through a bite
A post shared by matthew forte (@matthew_forte_1) on Feb 15, 2018 at 10:03am PST
This has to be the scariest option on any ‘how to become a vampire’ list. At the same time, conversion through a vampire bite seems to be the most popular. This is because it has been popularized thanks to popular movies and thriller novels. Therefore, if you are the kind of person who isn’t afraid of being bitten and turned by a vampire, then, by all means, do so. You should consider linking up with a real-life vampire and doing the necessary. Vampires love fresh blood. So, I recommend for the second time that you find a good place where you can get your regular refills. Be cautious because if you get turned by a psychotic vampire, you might end up being drained in the name of getting turned! Ha-ha, I am just messing with you. But my point is, find a good vampire who will do the necessary without the unnecessary spooking drama. Sometimes vampires just like spooking people so they can feed on your energy through fear. And once you have been bitten, prepare to go into a trancelike state as your body begins its transformation. Remember to follow the instructions from your vampire mentor because the transformation can be a brutal experience. Having an experienced eye to see you through the transformation is paramount. Once you turn into a vampire, you will also need someone to give you guidance on how to survive.
7. Become a vampire through psychological affiliation
From the entire list, I have to admit that this must be my favorite way of becoming a vampire. This is despite the fact that my chances of joining the club still lie between highly unlikely and never. The good thing is that you don’t need to perform any sensitive, dark, or disgusting rituals that might end up upsetting the balance of nature. I also prefer it because you won’t have to give up juicy steaks and king-size beer schooners every Friday. In order to become a vampire with this method, all you need to do is read from vampirism texts on a regular basis. Apparently, vampires are so cool that anyone can easily fall in love with their lifestyle just by reading. Make sure you are reading all about their cool superpowers which include super speed, night vision, heightened sense of smell and so forth. If you keep on reading about the vampires, you’ll automatically start thinking and acting like a real-life vampire. Again, this is the safest way of becoming a vampire and it goes without saying that I advocate for it the most.
8. Become a vampire “randomly”
There are plenty of vices you can engage in and end up becoming a vampire unknowingly. For instance, stealing ropes used to lower a coffin into the grave can turn you into one. Advice – I wouldn’t recommend visiting a graveyard and disrupting it simply because it’s very disrespectful to the dead. Strive to be a vampire with some self-respect for crying out loud! You can also increase your chances of becoming a vampire by attending church or praying while harboring sin in your heart. If you do these things – which includes generally leading an immoral lifestyle – you’ll end up creating a conducive aura that can easily turn you into a vampire. I personally wouldn’t recommend leading an immoral life just because you want to become a vampire. Truth is, there are plenty of harmless ways on this list and you can always pick a way that doesn’t leave your soul tainted, even though that’s the whole point of becoming a vampire.
9. Become a vampire through spiritual awakening
A post shared by Michele Finotto (@michelepranotv) on Sep 11, 2017 at 1:47am PDT
In this case, finding a good vampire mentor is crucial and should, therefore, be your number one goal. First, you’ll be required to know where to find a good and experienced vampire. I still insist that he or she has to be a friendly one who has no interest in spooking or “drinking” you for whatever reason. By finding a good vampire mentor, your spiritual awakening journey will be easier. Your mentor will help raise awareness of the spiritual energy around you. This awareness will also include showing you how to manipulate spiritual energy to your benefit. Apart from the spiritual awakening and manipulation of energy, your vampire mentor is expected to teach you how to survive once you turn. Your mentor will show you where to find blood and how to feed in the event that you want to become a vampire that feeds on energy rather than blood. Trust me, there is an awful lot to learn!
10. Join a vampire support group
A post shared by Piotr Karpinski (@piterminiatures) on Feb 15, 2018 at 8:44am PST
You can learn a lot from people who are also looking to switch from the seemingly boring to the vampirism lifestyle. The good thing is that there are plenty of vampire wannabes and enthusiasts in equal measure. Let’s face it, with all the fakes out there it is difficult to tell a fake and a real vampire apart. Therefore, it is much more beneficial to face the challenge as a group rather than doing it all alone. Finding a reliable a support group should, therefore, be your number one priority. A lot of people, each bringing different pieces of information to the table, will make your journey of becoming a vampire much easier. Thankfully, there are a lot of such support groups online. All you need to do is join one and you’ll become a vampire in no time!
11. Hide from the sun

Skyrim Vampire: The Ultimate Guide to Being a Vampire in Skyrim
What’s better than roaming around the open world of Skyrim with nothing but adventure on your mind? Doing it as a badass, bloodsucking, darkness loving vampire of course. For those of us who played Skyrim when it first came out, the initial impression of the vampire mechanics in Bethesda’s sprawling Elder Scrolls epic was likely less than thrilling. However, things were improved immensely upon the release of Dawnguard and today are being refined and expanded even more thanks to awesome mods and Creator Club content.
In the interest of making this guide useful to as many players as possible, I’m not going to focus on modded gameplay elements, although I will list some fantastic vampire mods you can try out. Instead I’ll be providing comprehensive info on how to become a vampire, what powers you’ll get and how to mitigate weaknesses. I’ll discuss some awesome weapon and armour suggestions, show how to find them and will also outline a detailed vampire build with tips on which skill trees to invest in and which perks to select.

Skyrim Vampire Mods and Add-Ons
As mentioned in the introduction, I wanted to write a guide that could be useful for as many people as possible, including those playing on consoles or who just prefer playing Vanilla. To that end I’ve only used one mod in this playthrough, which doesn’t fundamentally effect the build or play style, just where you start the game.
There are some fantastic mods out there though for those who are considering a more in-depth Skyrim vampire experience though. If you’re brand new to modding Skyrim on your PC you might find our beginner guide useful: How To Install Improved Graphics Mods For Skyrim Special Edition – Beginner’s Guide, which while focussed on graphics mods, will also take you through the basic of how to setup for modding. Here are some recommended vampire mods, if you’re going to give them a try:
Useful for us is the starting option “I am a vampire in a secluded lair”. It starts you off with having vampirism straight off the bat, which saves you from having to go and find some vampires to contract it. You also get a cool vampire lair as a starting point which you could use as an early game base if you so wished. Check out the video below to see what that start looks like.
Best Race for a Vampire in Skyrim
The best race in Skyrim for a vampire build is arguably the Dunmer/Dark Elf
Dunmer/Dark Elf
As with any build in Skyrim, there isn’t a hard and fast rule for the best race to play a vampire with. This is because any race can learn any skills and unlock any perks. That being said, the starting skill level bonuses afforded by different race selections as well as the racial bonuses you get based on your decision does make some races more aligned with our play style as a vampire.
The best race for playing a vampire in our opinion therefore is the Dunmer/Dark Elf. They have starting bonuses in a range of magic schools that we’ll be using as a vampire (especially Illusion and Destruction), as well as Sneak and Light Armor, both of which form part of our build.
Basically, Dunmer are sneaky mages at heart which fits in perfectly with our play style as a vampire. Not to mention the fact that they have a racial ability that gives a 50% boost to fire resistance, which removes the 20-50% fire damage weakness that comes with vampirism. They also get the Ancestor’s Wrath racial power which gives us a flame cloak that synergises perfectly with our focus on flame magic in the Destruction tree and is especially helpful in the early game.
Best Standing Stone for a Vampire in Skyrim
If you play the vanilla intro to the game (without using a mod like Live Another Life to change your starting position and conditions), you’ll come across the Guardian Stones very early, on your way to Riverwood. These are a fine choice, with either the Mage Stone or Thief Stone being the best option, for increasing XP gain for magic skills or stealth skills respectively.
Once you’re a vampire though, arguably the best standing stone to have active is the Lady Stone, which lies almost exactly due west of the Guardian Stones. The Lady Stone will give you a 25% buff to both health and stamina regen. This is very useful for our vampire build as it compensates for our lack of health and stamina regen during daylight hours, meaning we can much more easily travel during the day.
Good Starting Home Base For a Vampire In Skyrim
Not everyone feels the need for their own place to call home in Skyrim. But personally I always want to have somewhere that I can fast travel to and store cool items that I don’t want to sell but also don’t want to lug around with me on my adventures. Of course you could go the standard route and build your own house using the Hearthfire add-on, or buy one of the houses by currying favour with the various hold Jarl’s. But if you’re like me, you might be impatient and want to find somewhere more quickly and easily to serve you in the early game.
For that purpose, you really can’t go past Anise’s Cabin. Located in Falkreath in quite an idyllic spot, the cute cabin has veggies growing outside in a small garden. In the basement there’s an Arcane Enchanter and an Alchemy Lab which will be very useful for our build seeing as we’re focussing on Alchemy.
Once you kill the current inhabitant of the shack (sorry Anise), you can sleep in her bed, and all containers are safe for storage except for the satchel and the barrel in the shack itself. The dresser is fine to store things in (although all the items already in there that you take out will be marked as stolen) and every container in the basement is safe.
The video below shows how to get to the cabin from the Guardian Stones.
How to Become a Vampire in Skyrim
If you start your playthrough using the Vampire option in the Live Another Life mod you’ll be a vampire from the get go. If you start in the usual manner though you’ll have to acquire vampirism.
To become a vampire in Skyrim you need to be infected with the disease Sanguinare Vampiris and leave it untreated for three in-game days. This will then transition into full blown vampirism, with all the powers and weaknesses that entails. You can also gain Vampirism without catching Sanguinare Vampiris by siding with Lord Harkon in the Dawnguard questline.
If you want to catch Sanguinare Vampiris early on in your playthrough, without waiting for your encounter with Lord Harkon in Dawnguard, you can catch it quite easily from the low level vampires in Movarth’s Lair.
To reach Movarth’s Lair quickly in the early game, head to Whiterun and catch a carriage ride to Morthal. From there head due North-East and you’ll soon come across the lair. Make sure to stock a few healing potions or have a healing spell equipped. Then find the first vampire in the lair and keep letting it hit you until you see a notification pop up that you’ve contracted Sanguinare Vampiris. If you want to check at any time whether you have contracted it, you can look in your spells menu, under “Active Effects”.
Vampire Powers and Weaknesses in Skyrim
Becoming a vampire is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you get a whole bunch of cool new powers and passive bonuses and a curse because you suffer from specific weaknesses and a potentially debilitating aversion to the sun. Don’t worry though, with careful consideration of your build it’s possible to almost entirely overcome the downsides, and to augment and enhance the bonuses. You can read more of perk selection and strategies in this regard in the section further down this guide: Best Vampire Skills & Perks In Skyrim.
Vampirism has 4 stages in Skyrim that you move between, based on the amount of time since you last fed (there is a section further down in this guide on feeding as a vampire). Every 24 hours you progress one stage deeper into your vampirism with stage 1 being the lightest experience of vampirism with the least benefit and least downsides and stage 4 being the most affected. When you feed on the blood of some poor unfortunate in Skyrim you will return to stage 1, no matter what stage you were when you fed.
To see the different effects at each stage you can refer to the table above, and for more information about what each of the effects and spells entail see the details below.
Effects
Champion Of The Night
This effect is permanent across all stages of vampirism and boosts the power of your Illusion spells by 25%. Because the illusion skill tree is a core part of our build, this trait is very useful.
Nightstalker’s Footsteps
Similar to the Champion of the Night effect, but aimed at our Sneak skill instead. Thanks to Nightstalker’s Footsteps you’ll be 25% harder to detect while sneaking across all stages of vampirism.
Vampiric Strength
This isn’t particularly relevant to our build, but if you were thinking of creating an unarmed character, this buff to unarmed combat wouldn’t hurt. Vampiric Strength gives you from +5 to +20 points of extra damage when using unarmed combat, depending on the stage of vampirism you’re in.
Weakness to Sunlight
Weakness to sunlight os going to be the main issue we have to contend with as a vampire. Before Dawnguard (and still if you’re playing without it), you could argue that the terror you inspired in NPCs on sight when at stage 4 vampirism was worse. But with Dawnguard installed you can now happily pass through polite society with nobody batting an eye, no matter what stage you’re at. You have a weakness to fire, but that’s almost entirely negated by choosing Dunmer/Dark Elf as a race.
The one remaining downside that you’ll probably notice the most is your weakness to sunlight. Not only will you no longer regenerate health, stamina or Magicka while standing outside in daylight hours. You’ll also have those three attributes reduced by 15-60 points, depending on your vampirism stage. Not to fear, by taking the lady stone and wearing Royal Vampire Armour we can help mitigate some of these effects. Also, you’re a vampire, what are you doing wandering around in the daytime!
Spells and Powers
Vampiric Drain
Vampiric Drain sucks between 2 and 5 health per second from your target (depending on the stage of vampirism the player is in) and adds it to your own health. This is a novice level spell and even at stage 4 vampirism, the full 5 health drain per second isn’t particularly awe-inspiring.
However, the spell becomes a lot more viable if the player sides with Volkihar Clan during the Dawnguard questline and completes the quest The Bloodstone Chalice. The quest involves filling a vampire artifact called the Bloodstone Chalice from the waters of the Redwater Spring in Redwater Den. When this filled chalice is returned to Castle Volkihar, you can then activate it at any time to receive a temporary passive effect called Blood Of The Ancients. The Blood Of The Ancients ability augments your Vampiric Drain spell to not only drain health, but also drain Magicka and Stamina at the same rate.
Note: When you first unlock the ability it will only last for one in game day upon activation. But you can complete the side quest Ancient Power. The quest can be completed up to 5 times. After each time completing the quest, the activate time for the Blood Of The Ancients ability is extended, up to a maximum duration of 9 days.
Vampire’s Servant
Vampire’s Servant is a power you can use once per day as a Vampire in Skyrim. It allows you to reanimate a corpse to fight for you for 60 seconds, once per day. The power of this spell scales with your stage of vampirism, with stage 4 allowing you to reanimate very powerful corpses.
Vampire’s Sight
Vampire’s Sight is personally one of my favourite vampire powers in Skyrim giving you night vision for 60 seconds. It definitely comes in useful during a stealth playthrough and while exploring dark areas of the game. Unlike Vampire’s Servant and other once-per-day powers, Vampire’s Sight can be used as many times as you like with no restrictions.
Vampire’s Seduction
Vampire’s Seduction can be used as an alternative to the Calm spell from the Illusion spell tree (or in addition to if you want to calm an opponent but have no available Magicka). It turns a hostile NPC or creature friendly for 30 seconds. The player can also feed on characters under the influence of Vampire’s Seduction, instead of waiting for them to sleep.
Embrace of Shadows
Quite useful for sneaking, Embrace of Shadows gives the user 180 seconds of invisibility and improved night vision. Only available when at stage 4 vampirism.
Skyrim Vampire Feeding
To feed as a vampire in Skyrim, sneak up to a sleeping NPC in crouch and select “pickpocket”. You’ll then see a menu where you can choose to either pickpocket or feed. Choose “feed” and you’ll feast on the blood of your victim, resetting your vampire stage to 1.
Before Dawnguard was released, the main reason for feeding in Skyrim and bringing down your stage of vampirism was to stop NPCs attacking you on sight when you were at vampirism stage 4. Now if you’re playing with Dawnguard installed (as most of you probably are), there is only really the weakness to fire and sunlight that come as downsides with a higher stage of vampirism, both of which are mitigated by our perk selection.
This means that for the most part there’s not much point in feeding as it will only reduce your vampiric powers and not really add any benefits. If you have a PC and can install a mod like Better Vampires this will invert the feeding/powers relationship so that feeding increases your power, making it a much more useful mechanic.
As well as feeding on sleeping NPCs there are a couple of other ways to feed.
3 Ways To Feed As A Vampire In Skyrim
How to be a Necromage Vampire in Skyrim
You may have heard of people playing Necromage Vampire builds in Skyrim and boosting a whole heap of perks and effects. Getting the strategy right can seem a bit overwhelming when you start out. But it doesn’t have to me complicated.
The basic summary of the strategy is this. The level 70 Restoration perk Necromage increases the strength and duration of spells targeting the undead. Because you’re counted as undead when playing as a vampire this means that spells you cast on yourself, as well as weapon and armour enhancements and some powers and abilities also get the buffed power and duration.
One important point to be aware of is this – Some perks are boosted by Necromage (see the list here), but they only get the boost if they are chosen after you unlock the Necromage perk. So it benefits your overall build if you work hard at power levelling Restoration as quickly as possible to unlock Necromage and hold off on unlocking any of the perks that get boosted by it until after you’ve got Necromage.
Note: If you’re using the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (USSEP) mod, the Necromage effect for Vampires won’t work as the mod patches it. If you want to continue using USSEP but also benefit from the Necromage effect, you can use this mod which counteracts the part of USSEP effecting Necromage: USSEP Necromage Fix.
How To Level Restoration Fast In Skyrim
Travel to High Hrothgar and walk out into the courtyard. You’ll find an archway with high winds that damage you unless you use the Clear Skies shout. Don’t use the shout. Instead stand in the damaging wind barrier and heal yourself continuously using a restoration spell. In the video above I’m using Close Wounds.
Remember that you’re going to level Restoration based on how much damage you heal, so make sure you turn the difficulty up so that you’re losing health fast enough to match the healing spell that you use. While Restoration can be one of the slower skills to level, this method should work quite well and level you relatively quickly.
Remember when you use up all your Magicka you can step back and wait for one hour to regain it, which only takes a second, and is often quicker than waiting for your Magicka to regenerate on it’s own. Also remember to do this levelling at night so you don’t suffer from the Magicka regen nerf caused by your vampirism!
Vampire Lord Combat, Perks and Levelling
If you have Dawnguard installed, in addition to the previously discussed improvements to the vampirism system, you also get access to a completely new gameplay mode with it’s own perk tree and levelling system – The Vampire Lord.
The Vampire Lord is a form the player can take after agreeing to side with Lord Harkon in the Dawnguard questline. The player can then use an ability at will to transform into a magic weilding, winged demon called the Vampire Lord.
Vampire Lord Combat
While in the Vampire Lord form you are forced to use a 3rd person point of view and have access to two primary combat mechanisms: Blood magic and melee mode.
Blood Magic Mode
While in Blood Magic mode the character hovers a foot or so above the ground and uses a modified version of Vampiric Drain, which is shot like a missile out of the players right hand. Killing things with this attack gives you EXP towards your Vampire Lord perk levelups.
Note: When you’re in Vampire Lord form your Vampiric DrainThere is a bug in the game that nerfs Vampiric Drain and makes it much weaker than it should be if you’re accompanied by Serena. If you’re playing on PC you can fix this with the following mod: Vampire Lord Can Go With Serena
Melee Mode
While in Melee mode the Vampire Lord moves quickly on the ground in a crouched stance. Instead of using magic, the character uses their claws to swipe at enemies. In this mode, you can perform a power attack bite on low health opponents. While not activated 100% of the time, when this move is sucessful the player feeds on the enemy, adding progress towards perk unlocks. If the player has the Blood Healing perk unlocked (see list of Vampire Lord perks below) this will also completely heal the player when the power move is successfully performed.
Night Powers
In addition to the two combat modes, the Vampire Lord can also make use of a number of unique powers that are unlocked and enhanced via the perk system. These are called ‘Night Powers’ See below for a list of these special abilities and their corresponding perks. They are used the same as other powers but have a shorter cooldown and can be used many times per day rather than once.
Vampire Lord Perks
As you defeat more enemies with either the blood magic combat mode or with succesful power attack bites in melee mode you’ll level up your character and unlock new perks which can radically buff your power and ability as a Vampire Lord.
Vampire Lord Levelling
To level up your Vampire Lord you’re going to need to kill a lot of things with your blood magic or with the power attack bite in melee mode. Remember that the normal melee attack without using the power attack won’t level you up.
Of course you could just play through the game like normal and swap into Vampire Lord form whenever you get into a combat situation. But you may find that you want grind out some levels and need to find a whole bunch of enemies to kill for that purpose.
One viable option for this sort of grinding is to search out the Forsworn camps dotted round The Reach. They’re all full of Forsworn who you can kill without upsetting anyone, in fact you’ll be doing other Skyrim residents a favour, and you should be able to get some good loot in the process. The camps also tend to be fairly close together, so you can do them all in one session without too much travel. You can see a list of Forsworn camp locations here.
If you’re having difficulty taking out the Forsworn with your blood magic try setting the difficulty lower and you should have no trouble, plus you’ll still level up just as fast.
Best Vampire Skills & Perks in Skyrim
I won’t list every single perk to take, as this is just a guide, and you might like to take other skill trees that I’ve missed such as Speech or Lockpicking for your own reasons. But the following skill trees are the ones I’ve focussed on for this build based on synergies between their perks and effects which I’ll explain below.
I’ll just be pointing out the key perks in each tree. But obviously you’ll pick more than the ones listed. For example, in all the magic schools you’ll likely work your way up to unlocking Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert and Master perks to allow for better casting of spells at each rung of mastery.
Click on the skills below to jump further down the page to further information about reasons for their choice plus perk analysis.
Primary Skills:
Secondary Skills:
Restoration
Restoration is the first skill tree that we’re going to focus on levelling as it’s key to unlocking the Necromage system. For more information on this click here to jump back up to the Necromage vampire section where I show how to level Restoration fast and how Necromage can make a big impact in your power as a vampire in Skyrim. On top of the benefits from Necromage, Restoration is great for buffing your Health, Stamina and Magicka which all get nerfed as a vampire when you’re out in the daytime.
Perks
Sneak
You gain a permanent boost to staying undetected across all phases of vampirism, so it makes sense to capitalise on this innate strength. Also as you may want to be sneaking up on people to feed on them, having a high sneak skill is important.
Perks
Everything in the left hand side of the perk tree, starting with Stealth which gives you a greater chance of sneaking undetected an moving up to include Muffled Movement, Light Foot, Silent Roll, Silence and Shadow Warrior.
All these perks are going to make you harder to detect while sneaking, with a special mention of Silent Roll for being one of my favourite perks in the game. It makes moving around while in stealth a tonne more enjoyable as you can spam a nifty forward roll. This basically equates to being able to (almost) sprint while crouched. Because we’re not going to be relying on one handed weapons, daggers or archery we can completely ignore the right hand side of the tree, which deals with damage modifiers for those weapons, and save those perk points for other uses.
Illusion
Like Sneak, Illusion builds on the innate buff to Illusion magic afforded by vampirism. You get a natural buff to Illusion magic as a vampire: the Champion Of The Night ability is active across all stages, which increases the potency of Illusion spells by 25%. I.e. Invisibility will last 25% longer.
Illusion also helps boost sneak with spells like Muffle and Invisibility. While Destruction magic will be our main combat mechanism in this build, we will also be making use of Illusion’s mind control magic such as Calm, Fear and Frenzy.
How To Level Illusion Fast in Skyrim
Illusion is one of the easier schools of magic to level in Skyrim and can therefore be used as a means to power level your character in general, by reaching 100 Illusion and then making the skill legendary and starting the levelling from scratch again.
The easiest way to level Illusion is with the spell Muffle. It’s an apprentice level spell, which you can buy from Farengar Secret-Fire, the Court Wizard in Whiterun. Once you’ve learnt the spell simply equip in either hand and alternate casting it constantly while travelling through skyrim. You’ll find your Illusion level shooting up in no time.
Perks
Destruction
Destruction is going to be our primary combat mechanic in this build. I was tempted to use a dagger to take advantage of Sneak perks that give massive damage multipliers, or to level archery for the same reason. But I was determined not to end up making another sneak archer build. Plus, you’ll already be developing a large Magicka pool for Restoration and Illusion, you may as well consolidate your build full into the magic side of things and make use of that significant Magicka pool.
Perks
Alchemy
While many magic school users choose to focus on enchanting to make overpowered enchantments, I wanted to choose Alchemy instead because I enjoy collecting the ingredients. You can also make a lot of money from selling potions. You could choose to do both enchanting and alchemy but it’s a good idea to limit your focus on fewer skill trees so you don’t spread your perk points too thin.
Perks
Pickpocket
Seeing as how you’re sneaking around anyway, you may as well have a good pickpocket skill to steal stuff off people while you’re at it. You don’t need to level lockpick as we’re going through the thieves guild quest just long enough to get the unbreakable lock pick and then not progressing, so we get to keep the pick forever. This makes increasing your lockpicking skill very optional (even though you could still do it for the auxiliary perks like finding extra treasure). But we’re going to spend those perk points on Pickpocket perks instead which can add some great utility to our build, like extra carry weight. And of course the ability to poisin people by leaving our alchemy creations in their pockets.
Perks
Light Armor
The least important of the skill trees, but useful for a bit more survivability, and mainly for the stamina regen buff to counteract the stamina regen nerf from vampirism.
Perks
Decent Early Game Starting Armour
The main criteria for picking armour for your vampire is that it’s light armour – so that you gain benefits from your Light Armor perks – and that it does something to boost your primary build attributes – Either sneakiness, alchemy, pickpocketing, Magicka regen or Destruction/Illusion/Restoration power.
While not an amazing set for the late game, the Thieves Guild Armor is a pretty good early game set for a few reasons:
Best Armour for Vampires in Skyrim
We’re going to stick with the theme of picking armour that we find as part of questlines we’re pursuing anyway. For our next set of later game armour we’ll aim for the Vampire Royal Armour found in the Dawnguard questline.
My main reasoning for going with the Vampire Royal Armour is its hefty boost to Magicka regen of 125%. It also fits in really well from a lore standpoint and as a vampire there’s probably not a better loking piece of armour that you can find in the game.
Another great option would be a high level set of Mage Robes with added buffs to Alchemy, Restoration, Illusion or Destruction. Be aware that while this would provide you with some great stat increases, you won’t benefit from your Light Armor perks anymore.
Best Vampire Weapons in Skyrim
If you’re going purely for max damage output, your best bet would likely be a decent dagger and to unlock the Sneak perk Assasin’s Blade for 15x damage output on sneak dagger hits. If you were then to wear the Shrouded Gloves which give double damage to backstab attacks, you’d end up with 30x damage for your dagger hits. This is enough to one-hit most enemies in the game, eveb at harder difficulties, or at least seriously deplete their health.
In our build though, as mentioned earlier in this guide, we’re going to focus on Destruction magic as our main offensive skill. My go to spell is Incinerate, which, while not having the destructive power of Fire Storm, is a lot quicker to cast and more versatile.
No Vampire Playthrough Is Complete Without Your Own Undead Horse
Getting around Skyrim is a lot faster on a horse. They can also help you climb up previously unscalable mountains and are generally a more fun to get around than walking. The only downside is managing your horse to always keep it with you and prevent it being killed in battle.
Arvak, the undead horse found in the Soul Cairn totally avoids these downsides because you can summon it whenever you want and it doesn’t matter how many times it’s killed you can always bring it back to your side. Definitely the most useful horse in Skyrim.
To learn the Summon Arvak spell you need to complete a quest called Find Arvak’s Skull in the Soul Cairn. The tricky part of the quest is locating the skull without a map in the sprawling underworld of the Soul Cairn. Although, if you follow the video below you should be able to find it without much trouble.

How To Cure Vampirism In Skyrim
So what if you try out being a vampire and it’s just not for you? Fear not, in that case, you can always cure yourself. You just need to follow the steps laid out in our very short visual guide story: How To Cure Vampirism In Skyrim.
How to serve that vampire
Vampires aren’t immune to the Coronavirus.
«How do I get turned into a vampire» is answered on this page. That is why this page will tell you how to get turned into a vampire. This is also referred to as being changed into a real vampire.
If you aren’t a vampire there is a slim chance of you inheriting being a slayer, so don’t try to hard to become a vampire because vampires can’t become a slayer. Read this page to learn the truth about slayers. This can theoretically happen without you ever meeting a slayer. So don’t try to find a slayer, and don’t try to have a slayer find you. It is a divine selection kind of thing, you are better off asking God.
Only a real vampire can turn you into a vampire. Regardless of what some people and websites claim, being a vampire is a physical/medical thing. No spell, or ritual, or non-vampire can turn you into a vampire. An important thing to know is that the self declared energy vampires aren’t real vampires, and they can’t turn you in to a real vampire.
Being able to take energy doesn’t make you a vampire, nor do you need to be a vampire to be able to take energy. Non-vampires can learn how to take energy as well as learn how to do other psychic abilities like mind reading, and mental telepathy. Go to the Psychic Abilities page to learn how to do these things.
To get turned into a vampire you need to do a simple exchange of blood with a vampire. Even just a 1/4 teaspoon of blood is more than enough blood to turn you into a vampire. Unlike how this is portrayed in movies, there is no need to drain someone of their blood to the point of death, when turning them into a vampire. Any person that claims they are a real vampire and says that they have to drain you to the point of death to turn you into a vampire, is a poser and should be avoided.
As is already commonly believed, when a vampire turns you into a vampire, the vampire must receive the normal persons blood first. This exchange of blood can be done orally. Afterwards the normal person must receive the vampires blood, they can do this orally as well. This is the only way that you can be turned into a vampire.
This is possible because being a vampire, and the ability for you to get turned into a vampire is caused by an endogenous retrovirus, go to that page to learn more about it.
Due to me never wanting someone to ask me «how do I get turned into a vampire» again, I am going to list the steps on how to get turned into a vampire below. If you still can’t get turned into a vampire after reading this page then that is your problem and not mine.
It is usually pretty easy to tell that they are fakes, common traits among posers are one or more of the following traits: 1. use white makeup to pretend to look pale, 2. fake fangs, 3. dress like hollywood vampires, 4. claim they don’t need blood just energy, 5. claim to be over 100 years old. There is a group of vampire cults that call themselves the vampire community which is estimated to be at least 98.5% posers and the very few real vampires in that group aren’t the ones that are running it.
Vampire Survivors Arcanas Guide – How to Unlock & Arcanas List (August 2022)
Arc enemy.
2022 hasn’t seen the last of Vampire Survivors, which continues to morph and evolve during Early Access. The latest update adds a new gameplay mechanic that presents an overwhelming potential already for those who love experimenting with builds. This guide explains how to unlock the Vampire Survivors Arcanas, as well as how they work and the full list available at the moment.
How to Unlock Arcanas in Vampire Survivors
First of all, in order to unlock the Vampire Survivors Arcanas, you’re going to need access to Gallo Tower. For this, you need to have reached level 60 during a Dairy Plant run. If you don’t have access to the Dairy Plant stage yet, play any stage with a character of your choosing until you reach level 40.
In order to unlock Arcanas in Vampire Survivors, here’s what you need to do:
You can just rush your way to the Randomazzo location, but beware of freeze attacks in the area. Make sure to pick a character that can either withhold the damage or just move fast. Since you don’t need to defeat a specific enemy or reach a certain time in the stage to unlock a chest, it’s a fairly straightforward step.
Once you have the Randomazzo, the Arcanas mechanic automatically becomes available to use in all future runs.
Keep in mind that Arcanas aren’t available in the public version of the game just yet, but you can opt-in for the public beta (Windows only) by following these steps:
That’s all! Now, let’s see what this gameplay mechanic is all about.
Vampire Survivors Arcanas List and How They Work
Last updated on August 4, 2022
The Vampire Survivors Arcanas list is as follows:
After you’ve gotten a hold of the Randomazzo in Vampire Survivors, you can access Arcanas at the start of every run, right after you’ve entered the stage. You can select only one Arcana at the beginning of a run, but you can have up to three at the same time. As for the other two Arcanas, you can get a random draft from Treasure Chests. As explained by the developer, “most Treasure Chests containing Arcanas are carried by bosses spawning at minute 10:00 and 20:00” of each run.
That is pretty much it for now. Arcanas have distinct effects and, while not all of them are available at the moment (the rest are being added in future patches), they’re a promising prospect and a foundation to start toying around with.

ESO Vampire Excitement!
YES! It’s true! There are amazing Vampires in the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls Online! Those of you, who remember Vampires in other games of the Elder Scrolls Series all the way from Daggerfall to Skyrim, will be happy to know that the Elder Scrolls Vampires will not be left out of Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). In fact Vampires will figure prominently in ESO, even having their own awesome skill line! Vampires are one more aspect of the mystery and excitement of ESO. If you want, YOU can be one of these Vampire ESO Players! –But How? What is some of what you can expect from being a vampire in ESO? Many of you may embrace this transformation into becoming a vampire – but if you change your mind – is there a way out? Well those are some of the questions this Vampire Guide will help answer for you. The choices of what you can be and do in ESO, and the combinations of these many choices are exciting!
The ESO Vampires and You
Turning you into a Vampire can be done at the Vampire Altar shrine that the Vampire who is going to infect you, first visited during his or her own first Blood Matron quest. In this case one bite could give you the option to become a Vampire.
If you do not have a friend in ESO who is a Vampire who can do you this favor, then you can look for a player created Vampire Guild to accept you, which has someone willing to meet you at a Vampire Alter Shrine and do the deed. This is a fun option, because then you will have a Vampire Clan (Vampire Guild) to play in, and other Vampire Allies to belong with from the start. If you cannot find a Vampire Guild, you can always start one of your own and invite other Vampires and those who want to become Vampires to join your Guild. In this case you will still need someone to be the first Vampire to start to try to sire other Vampires for your Vampire Guild.
Getting Vampirism on Your Own
So if whether you want to be a lone Vampire, (or cannot find a Vampire Guild to join that will turn you), or you want to create your Vampire Guild from scratch; in such cases you may need to first become a Vampire by being attacked by ingame NPC Vampires called ‘Blood Fiends’. There is some chance this could happen to you randomly in your adventures and travels, but if you want to increase your chances of being attacked by a group of Blood-Fiend Vampires you can seek them out by looking for them.
You could try going to get bitten this way when you feel you are strong enough to endure a few attacks by some higher level wild blood fiend (game-generated) Vampire enemies. However to do it this way on your own (or with a few buddies), still requires going to higher level areas where blood-fiend Vampires spawn, which can occur in any of the three Alliances main provinces.
Blood-Fiend Vampires are known to spawn only at night (usually around midnight ingame time) at several locations in level 37-44 zones of each faction, but it has been done by some players at only Level 15. So these non-player character (NPC) Blood-fiend Vampires (game-generated enemies), definitely spawn in the Rift, Bangkorai and Reaper’s March.
For example, in Bangkorai, the Blood Fiend Vampires spawns east of Pelin Graveyard POI (just south on map from Evermore city). By the way, please feel free to add any verified locations where you were infected with Vampirism, or to tell your brief stories of becoming a Vampire in the comments section. You can do this anonymously or give your name for vampiric bragging rights on what level you were when you became a Vampire, or even to offer to help turn others to Vampires; and we will all enjoy hearing about it. It’s totally up to you, but Vampires are welcome to share such friendly tips and experiences
Improving Vampirism Infection Chances
ESO Friends, if you usually use amulets or rings or other protections from disease; remove them during your midnight tryst to get turned into a Vampire, to further increase your chances of contracting Vampirism. After blood-fiend Vampires are killed they have a cool-down period, so they will not re-spawn for you until another night, so let them strike you three times. Usually, two vampires, ashen pale and odious, appear (spawn) in the corner at a once. When your character has been hit three times by Blood Fiend Vampires, it should become apparent that you are infected with Vampirism.
Some people have trouble distinguishing between night and overcast days in ESO, so try to look for Vampires around Midnight ingame time. Hopefully an ingame clock will be added to our ESO screen soon, if we are lucky. Yet for now, remember; look to get attacked by the Vampires at night whilst there are stars out, or a dark moon or new moon (and right after a new moon). There are only a few players rumored to have seen Vampires whilst not under a new moon, but this is not validated to be Blood Fiend Vampires though, and further no one so far has ever reported actually being bitten and infected by blood-fiend vampires at times not close to new moons, and never during fuller moons, when werewolves are about instead. During the optimum time to be attacked by blood-fiend Vampires, the Moon may be hard to see or may just be a sliver of light.
Just like in the BETA trials, most Vampires playing the early release (and also since full release so far), who have reported being bitten by Blood Fiend Vampires were first bitten around Midnight when the Moon is just a Sliver of Light in the sky. So this is still your best chance of when to get bitten by Blood Fiend Vampires.
This makes sense, because if you look for Vampires during a Full Moon instead, then you will be more likely to find Werewolves spawned in the same locations under full moons, as where Blood Fiends spawn on New Moons, and you cannot contract Vampirism from anybody, if you are already infected by Werewolves. In fact one of the ways to avoid becoming a Vampire is to be infected by a Werewolf first. You cannot be both a Vampire and Werewolf on the same character, but you could have two different characters at the same time, with one of them becoming a Vampire and the other one becoming a Werewolf. After all, Vampires and Werewolves have very different Skill-lines. Other than that, you can become a Vampire no matter your race, class or alliance you start out with.
Purchasing Vampire Bite in Crown Store
This option appeared in the game after ESO became B2P. Now you can purchase Vampire Bite directly in Crown Store! This is the easiest way of getting Vampirism on your own. All you need is to have enough Crowns on your account balance.
Pros and cons of this method:
Pros | Cons |
You don’t need to look for an NPC or person who can bite you | It’s NOT interesting! If you are real role-player this method is not for you. |
You don’t risk your gold. Result is 100% guaranteed! |
I personally recommend using this option if you don’t want to look for an NPC who can bite you. Crown store option is great alternative for purchasing a bite from another player. That’s because you will get guaranteed result, while player may take your gold and disappear.
Solidifying Your Choice (Some potentially minor Spoilers)
When infected there is a column called “Vampirism” which will also appear in the character’s attributes and Vampirism will appear under your Active Effects. So once you have been infected by a Vampire, the disease will become active and you should go to the nearest wayshrine where you will meet an NPC Vampire and will be given a level 38 Quest, called Scion of the Blood Matron. This is the quest that once completed can give you the Vampire skill line. However, The Vampirism has no actual effect until you accept the vampire quests. With the Vampirism activated for Vampire Quests, you can then go to accept the quests. Scion of the Blood Matron quest starts first, and you will then encounter this special NPC who is a red-eye vampire who is waiting for you.
Talk to him (usually named ‘Vorundil’ by all accounts thus far), and then go to the position where this Vampire sends you, which is usually where the vampire’s capital is (and the location zone is named in the quest as Blood Matron’s Crypt). Go there and meet and talk with the interesting female NPC character named Rahaja who reveals the fascinating vampire’s history and lore to you.
First Vampire Quest Tips
Alright, I will go ahead and tell you that the Scion of the Blood Matron quest requires you to slay ten monsters all by yourself. Thankfully, in order to successfully complete this quest, you will be loaned the 3 main vampire skills.
Once you have finished killing ten monsters and then turn in your finished quest, you will become a new member of the Vampire Race! Congratulations! – You will also get some permanent vampire skills as a reward – which you can continue to strengthen and build upon.
What If You Choose to Be Cured?
Once infected, completing the objectives of this Vampire initiation quest called Scion of the Blood Matron is needed and required in order to either embrace the disease of Vampirism; or chose to cure it.
“I’ve been bitten by a vampire and have the option of embracing the disease or being cured.” If you have contracted Vampirism by any means you will have received that message, and if for any reason you decided that you do not want to become a Vampire, you can choose to totally cure your vampirism. Just tell the red-eyed Vampire NPC (that first gave you the Scion of the Blood Matron quest right after you were infected with vampirism), that you want to be cured, and he will tell you that instead of going to the Vampire Blood Matron, you can go to a Priest of Arkay in a nearby town for a cure. The Priest of Arkay will charge you a price of gold coins, but will remove Vampirism disease from you completely.
Vampiric Stages and Feeding
Please listen-up on Vampiric feeding dear ESO Vampire Friends, since if you fail to feed in a certain time-stages after prompted to feed (over the next 30, 60, and 90 minutes) you will progressively get to each the next stage of vampirism, beginning at one, and at the highest stage you will be at four. As you progress to higher stages of the Vampirism disease, each stage carries a more weakening debuff, but also motivates you (to dare attempt to feed while weak), by also having a progressively lower magicka cost of your vampire skills for each stage. Remember, the black rings around your eyes will also grow more noticeably darker against your ashen pale vampire skin; as you progress deeper into the stages of Vampirism.
HOW to FEED as a Vampire
When you get a prompt to feed, you need to crouch and slowly sneak up on the victim you single out from behind. It easier to sneak up on a warm-blooded living-being who has wandered of alone, than to try to feed on someone in a group, of course. Crouch down and sneak approach from the back, until you are at a spot behind them close enough that a feeding prompt that says [Use Feed] will come up, which then allows you to use a synergy and suck the blood of your victim.
Activate [Use Feed] prompt with your computer mouse to bite them, and for a few seconds blood will stream into your vampire mouth and you have your blood-meal. If you are having trouble getting somebody completely alone, to be really ultra-sneaky, you can use Nightblade ‘Shadow Cloak’ invisibility as noted in the Vampire Build Section about Nightblade Class as a Vampire Build – or otherwise you can use something like a Potion of ‘Tincture of Invisible’ which will not use magicka from your own magicka pool.
Vampire Skills
Remember when you collected your first Sky Shard in Cold Harbor, you may have noticed that in your Skill Menu you acquired under the WORLD section tab, a skill called SOUL MAGIC, and now right beneath this (only when you are a Vampire), the word VAMPIRE will appear right below Soul Magic under this WORLD section, and here you can revel on your Vampire Skill Line!
Spell | Type | |
---|---|---|
Bat Swarm | Ultimate | |
Drain Essence | Active | |
Mist Form | Active | |
Savage Feeding | Passive | |
Supernatural Recovery | Passive | |
Blood Ritual | Passive | |
Undeath | Passive | |
Unnatural Resistance | Passive | |
Dark Stalker | Passive |
Being a well-fed Vampire is a balancing act, but it is also a fun blast. Advantages of the Vampire Skill Line include two active spells and a super AWESOME Ultimate. Bats Swarm summons a swarm of bats dealing damage to all enemies around you. Vampires do not have to sacrifice the Ultimate Ability slot in order to retain powers, as they do not need to transform. You will be a Vampire all the time, but sometimes you will be well-fed and sometimes you will be hungry – which is what affects your appearance changes as previously described.
As a Vampire, one of your active spells can stun your target and leeches their health and stamina while replenishing your health and stamina! This is very useful to Vampires all the time, but also particularly when needed to help offset health debuffs when they are hungry and need to feed. Another Vampire active ability makes you totally immune to control magic, whilst it also gives you75% avoidance, at the cost only of reduced incoming healing. You will also have some Morph Opportunities for some powerful Vampire Active Abilities.
Passive ability choices, including Savage Feeding, Supernatural Recovery (which increases magicka and stamina recovery by 5), Undeath,( which increases damage mitigation by up to 50% when you are below 30% health), Unnatural Resistance, (which improves Health recovery in Vampirism stages 2 through 4), Dark Stalker, (which increases your movement speed while sneaking and allows you to enter stealth more quickly at night), and saving the best for last remember the wonderful passive skill of Blood Ritual!
Blood Ritual Reminder!
A really cool passive skill is the one we also mentioned on the section for becoming a vampire, which you get as an initiated Vampire, is called Blood Ritual. Remember, Blood Ritual (which allows a Vampire player to spread the vampirism disease to other willing players once a week), can make it fun for you to ‘Turn’ a few friends to play with, or even to start your own Vampire Guild to sire other Vampires by ‘Turning’ willing Vampire Guild recruits into loyal Vampire Allies with you. Those trying to become Vampires will be undoubtedly grateful for being ‘Turned’ into Vampires; and to have a place to belong with you and other Vampires of your Vampire Group or Vampire Guild.
Vampire Looks and Character Creation Tips
When players become vampires in ESO, they do not become as unattractive as they do in some games. In fact, if you become a vampire in ESO your character will look similar to how he or she normally looks, but the eyes will turn red and the skin will turn paler.
The skin will not be a living pretty milky white of the fair, but an ashen white of the dead. As you advance in vampiric stages; the higher up in the vampire stages you go, the darker will become the black rings around your eyes. This will also help you recognize other Vampires up close. This allows for more individualized role-play of your Vampire.
However, some may want to role-play a Vampire that is more secretive, subtle or even attractively seductive, and then decide for themselves whom to feed on in a less immediately obvious way. To do this, you can make a normal-looking or highly attractive character that others would need to see more closely in the light before recognizing they are a Vampire looking for a blood meal; and since Vampires tend to be nocturnal this works better. In other words, you may also be even better fed if you are able to be less noticed until you strike in the dark of night, and by having a usually good-looking sneaky character and/or even one who can become temporarily invisible.
Vampirism means you MUST periodically feed, so you do not weaken. The game will let you know when you are hungry and need to feed by giving you a prompt to use your ‘feeding’ ability. Ignoring this or being unable to feed will progress you through stages one through four of Vampirism, and the higher the stage, the hungrier and weaker you become by debuffs, but the stronger your magicka power motivates you to obtain a victim to feed upon. The longer you wait to feed the more you will look like a hungry vampire. You want the best chances of being able to sneak behind a warm blooded victim for that blood-meal. See an ESO Breton Sorceress Vampire Build Below.
Breton Sorceress: ESO Vampire Build
More on Vampire Builds
However, you may not want to be the class of Dragon Knight (which uses fire magic) either, if you plan to be a Vampire, since you will be sensitive to fire as a Vampire. A hungry Vampire has 50% weakness to fire in all stages of needing to feed, and you to not want to play with fire – you want to avoid it. By the way, the Fighters Guild is a danger to Vampires too, although not part of initial character creation.
However, considering character creation; if you plan to embrace becoming a Vampire, you are really going to need Magicka and to build your magicka-pool as best as you can, and as soon as you can, for your non-living life as a Vampire. You will need Magicka for using your Vampire abilities. Unless you are just really stuck on a certain race or class, it is to your advantage as a future vampire, to start out with a Race and Class that has Magicka and/or Sneaky abilities to support your future intended Vampiric Lifestyle.
Sorcerers with their Magicka and Night Blades with their shadowy ways are Classes that can make for particularly good Vampires. No other class but Nightblade gives you a vanish skill that lets you disappear to escape tuff spots, or to get ready to sneak attack to do the most surprising damage to the unwary, via the Shadow Skill Line. For example, Shadow Cloak will give you, 2.5 second invisibility. Assassin’s Blade from the Assassination skill tree and Duel Wielding can give you some good weapon damage for a Vampire Nightblade. Or will you be that oh so magical Sorcerer, with your big magicka pool and those magical tricks and traps and staves; who becomes the gifted Vampire enchanting items for your Vampire Guild?
If you also choose a Race that has good magical and/or sneaking advantages and abilities you will have further advantage to go along with the Class you chose, whilst creating a build for your character that you want to make into your ultimate triple-threat Vampire build. You can come up with various combinations, but here are a few examples.
For example, a Breton Sorcerer, even with long ranged magic attacks and the ability to summon Daedric Minions up close and personal all over them could distract a small group of enemies with your summoned helper, whilst you are personally singling out a target for a sneaky to-go meal. If somebody does not like it, just shock- zap them with some Storm Magic as a finisher.
For another example, if you are using a sneaky duel-wielding Khajiit as a shadowy assassinating Nightblade, and then try making it a Vampire – this will likely give you quite a well-fed Shadow-Cat – that can take on allot of mischief as a Vampire and still thrive.
By building a character with stealth and magicka intended to become a Vampire, you will be able to have plenty of fun with the Vampire Skill Line and keep well-fed. Remember, Vampirism means you MUST periodically feed. Vampires should use the Feeding ability once prompted to ingame. This is why it will really help you as a Vampire to play a race and/or class that is built to be able to be more successfully able to stay invisible by either using a potion and/or by using class ability for better sneaking up on victims when prompted to feed.
How to cure?
Now I will tell you how to get rid of Vampirism. It’s possible to cure if you really wish and the process is quite easy. You may want to do this if you don’t like how your character looks or if you don’t like the debuffs you receive in this form. Anyway there is a pretty fast way of turning back to human. All you need is to visit Mages Guild in your faction’s big city and find priest of Arkay there:
This procedure will cost you about 600 gold. After you pay the sum you will be healed and you will receive all the skill points you spent for Vamp tree back. Your appearance will alo become normal in several days. Pay attention: you will not get your normal appearance immediately!
You see in ESO, whether you are a seasoned Elder Scrolls Fan or new to the Elder Scrolls World, you can be a Vampire in ESO! The choices are yours!
