How I Met Your Mother Wiki:Current Projects

This is a list of the Current Projects on the How I Met Your Mother Wiki. Please use the Current Projects talk page to discuss the current projects on this page and any additional projects you’d like to add.

How I Met Your Mother Episodes

A lot of the episode articles lack information or images. Not to be rude towards the show, which we all adore, it would really help the How I Met Your Mother Wiki if contributions were made to improve these articles. Information on the episode should be placed under the appropriate section header, and images (screenshots of the episode) should be added under the Gallery section. Images should focus on covering the main events of the episode. See The Naked Man or The Fight for examples as to how the episode articles should ideally look (these two episode articles are really well done).

Main Characters/Actors

The pages for the five main characters and actors are in dire need of additional information, images, and cleanup. However, to add to these pages, can only be edited by Autoconfirmed users.

To break this project up into manageable sections, the project contributors are currently working on the Barney Stinson page, and once this is complete will move on to the other articles.

Marked Pages

Development

On October 30, 2013, Deadline.com reported that CBS was in talks with 20th Century Fox for a female spin-off of the show, referred to as How I Met Your Father. From Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Emily Spivey, it would have featured a new group of New York friends and chronicled a female member of the group named Sally [1] and her quest to meet her future husband. The new characters were initially planned to be introduced in How I Met Your Mother‘s series finale. The spin-off would not contain any of the original characters from How I Met Your Mother.

On 15th November, 2013, CBS ordered the show to pilot with the title «How I Met Your Dad«. [2] CBS described the show as «a kindred spirit of How I Met Your Mother, telling the story from a female point of view. How I Met Your Dad tells a brand-new story with new characters and a new voice at its center.» Contrary to the original concept, Craig Thomas confirmed that the new characters would not be introduced in the How I Met Your Mother series finale and it will be a standalone show. [3] Carter Bays commented that the new show probably won’t be set in MacLaren’s and will have a new bar. [4]

On May 14, 2014, CBS announced that the pilot would not air in the fall of 2014 because they did not approve of it due to casting reasons. CBS asked co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas to re-shoot it, but they refused to do so unless CBS guaranteed an initial 13 episode contract.

Character Bios

Sally

She’s crazy, messy and unpredictable — a “female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going with her life.” She’s thinking of calling it quits with her husband of a year, Gavin. She’ll lean on her circle of friends for advice and support through the inevitable divorce. She will be played by Greta Gerwig. [5] Future Sally was voiced by Meg Ryan. [6]

Juliet

She is Sally’s sexy, flamboyant, energetic, party-girl BFF. She runs a successful fashion blog. She’s delighted to learn Sally is ending things with the terminally boring Gavin. She was played by Tiya Sircar.

Danny

Sally’s older gay brother, a Type A, underachieving lawyer whom she shares little in common with. They nonetheless share a tight bond, although Sally’s decision to move in with Danny after her split with Gavin promises to test that bond. He was played by Andrew Santino.

Danny’s warm, outgoing husband and one of Sally’s closest friends from college. Unlike Danny, Todd welcomes Sally into their home. He was played by Drew Tarver. [7]

Frank

The head of IT for Juliet’s fashion blog. He’s a hot nerd. He has genuine feelings for Sally, but it’s a one-sided flirtation. At least for the moment. Frank was played by Nick D’Agosto.

Gavin

Sally’s soon-to-be ex-husband. He was played by Anders Holm. If the series had been picked up, Gavin would have been a recurring character.
