Appearance
Wazukyan is large, and covered by what appears to be an intricately crafted fur robe. His face is flat, with the left half of it marked in a shape reminiscent of a white skull. Two large blunt horns protrude from the sides of his head and arch upwards dramatically before looping back down in front of his face. His arms are a tangled mess of lots of segmented limbs. [2] He walks on two legs. [3]
As a human, he had a bulky, commanding figure and very sharp facial features. [4] He had a beard that framed his face and slicked back hair. His face was covered in tatoos and he had large bags under his half lidded eyes. [5]
Personality
Despite his intimidating and commanding appearance, Wazukyan seems to be pretty laid back. Though he is one of the ones in charge of the village, he is first seen eating at a very crowded restaurant and making pleasantries with the other patrons. Riko bowed very low when she introduced herself to him as a Delver, to which he just replied with «I see! That’s great!» and gave her a high five. [2] He seems to have an amiable relationship with most of the other Narehate in the village; he greeted them all very casually as he passed by. [6]
Curiously, Riko noted that he «smells of the sun,» just like Reg said about Faputa. Whether this is significant is unknown, but Wazukyan became a Narehate due to the same being responsible for Faputa’s birth. [6]
As a human, Wazukyan was essentially the same, if not more serious. Belaf described him as having some sort of a «divine possession» when it came to his instincts. His hunches and predictions were always right, even when he didn’t have any prior knowledge, even predicting Vueko’s joining Ganja. His crew-mates trusted and respected him as their leader. While travelling to the Abyss, he would eat bugs and mice from the bottom of the ship to «prevent disease.» [7] [8]
History
Spoiler warning : The following section contains spoilers. Read with caution.
Ganja Arc
At some point in the past, Wazukyan led Ganja in search of what the island natives called «Shourou’s Golden City» down the 6 th layer. During Ganja’s advance to the 6 th layer they met some Interference Units and learned of the curse. Accepting that they wouldn’t be able to return to the surface, Wazukyan proposed to start anew, setting up a permanent camp and become the first citizens of the golden city, thus leading to the later founding of Ilblu. [9]
After some time, members of Ganja started to fall ill and die due to an unknown disease. Belaf discovered that the source of the disease was the water they had been drinking, but left without any alternative in drinkable water they had no choice to keep using it. Later on, Wazukyan inquires the Interference Units on a stone found by the scavenging team which is revealed to be an Artifact called the the Cradle of Desire. [4] [10]
The Artifact is said to be able to grant wishes when touched if the mind of the holder is not «messy or complex,» as it tends to be the case with mature humans, and that the fate of the scavenging team was due to the state of their minds. They also mention that «immature» humans have a higher chance of getting their wish granted, due to their minds having less complex of messy thoughts. Vueko requested it to be given to Irumyuui, in hope it could cure her from the illness, and Wazukyan agreed. [4] [11]
The day after Irumyuui was given the Artifact she was all better and didn’t feel any pain, but the Artifact had fused with her body, being implanted in her chest and she was still disfigured from the illness caused by the water. As time progressed she became more and more transformed and also started to give birth to Neritantan- like offspring, but they died soon after birth due to being born without organs for ingestion. This caused Irumyuui great grief and Vueko comforted her. [12] [13]
When Vueko became ill as well, Wazukyan fed her something she described to taste delicious with a scent of fat. Upon awaking, Vueko was healed. Seemingly, she has a bad feeling about what Wazukyan gave her to eat and upon questioning him he reveals that the others had been healed as well, saying «That kid saved us all.» [14]
The food Wazukyan had fed Vueko, Belafu and other Ganja members, who gotten infected by the «Pseudowater», was broth made from Irumyuui’s children and to his surprise it not only gave nourishment to the infected, but also alleviated the symptoms of their infection. [15]
Vueko, flustered and worried, was asked by Wazukyan if she wanted to see Irumyuui. Upon arrival Vueko was horrified to see that Irumyuui had transformed even more, barely even recognizable but still able to recognize Vueko. [16]
Irumyuui had given birth to another child and was caressing it, but Wazukyan took it from her in order to butcher it. Irumyuui pleadingly cried out because she didn’t want to give up her child and seeing this, Vueko requested to let Irumyuui at least stay with her child until it had died. Wazukyan, apologetically, declined that request, due to having discovered the meat works better the fresher it is and killed Irumyuui’s child with a knife. [17]
The following days, Irumyuui’s children continued to be used as nourishment for the Ganja members. Then one day, Vueko, while being with Irumyuui, discovered the Cradle of Desire in a scar that had opened up in Irumyuui’s chest and was perplexed since she was sure it had broken. Wazukyan arrived at the scene and told Vueko he had the Interference Units search for another one, because Irumyuui had been growing weaker and he feared she might not survive much longer without a second Cradle to fulfill her another wish. Suddenly, Irumyuui started getting restless and began moving. Vueko tried asking her what’s wrong, but got no response and Wazukyan, ominously, told her that it was almost «time to see Irumyuui’s true wish being fulfilled». [18]
Irumyuui continued moving and Wazukyan instructed the other members to stay close to Irumyuui and follow her, while he carried Belafu. Suddenly Irumyuui stopped moving and started consuming flying predators with tentacles growing out of her. Belaf still pained by guilt requested to also be eaten by her and offered himself up to Irumyuui. A giant hole opened up in Irumyuui, allowing Belaf to walk right inside her. As Belaf’s flesh was consumed he was simultaneously reconstructed and transformed into a Narehate. The other Ganja members, struck by the «beauty» of Belaf’s new form, concluded that they would be forgiven for eating Irumyuui’s children if they offer themselves up to her in the same way and Wazukyan proclaimed that this is the home they had been looking for. [19]
Only Vueko hesitated. Wazukyan noticed that and asked her what was wrong. Vueko told him she doesn’t think this is what Irumyuui truly wished for and upon being asked by Wazukyan what she intends to do, she proceeded moving backwards to fall down a near cliff. As she jumped off she told Wazukyan she won’t let anybody else have it and he realized she is holding a Cradle of Desire in her hand, which she had previously taken from Irumyuui. Wazukyan managed to grab on to her leg before she falls off, but Vueko hit her head on the stonewall and passed out, but before doing so noticed that Wazukyan had also used a Cradle of Desire on himself. [20]
When she woke up she found herself bound and in the dark pit Riko would later find her in. Wazukyan, now also turned into a Narehate, told her she is currently inside what used to be Irumyuui’s head as it’s the closest point Vueko could be to her. Vueko asked Wazukyan why he used a Cradle on himself, even though the Units warned them that adults would suffer from using one,and Wazukyan told her he did it in order to give the others faith in Irumyuui. He also told her, while being in the dark pit, she will be able to feel Irumyuui’s emotions and can watch over her from now on and leaves her. [21]
Later on, because Irumyuui still had the second Cradle her last true final wish is granted: The birth of her last child, Faputa, who one day will take revenge for all her dead brethren. As Wazukyan and other villagers watched Faputa’s birth, she quickly destroyed the remaining Interference Units of Ganja before fleeing. [22]
Ilblu Arc
Wazukyan first appears in the Narehate Restaurant. He is a guest sitting right next to Riko. After she is informed by Moogie who he is she hastily introduces herself to him as a Delver. Wazukyan gives her a relaxed response, saying it’s neat that she is a Delver and gives her a high five before leaving. [2]
Later on Wazukyan makes a brief appearance at the end of the battle with the Fuzosheppu explaining its nature and praising Riko for doing a «good job». Riko asks him of a way to get Nanachi back from Belaf, to which the sage assumes it might be possible if they were to present a part of «The embodiment of value». [23]
After Reg has returned with parts of Faputa, Wazukyan, who had eavesdropped on the conversation between Vueko and Reg, concludes Reg must have been «The Prince» and is surprised Reg managed to secure parts of «The Princess». He also casually greets Vueko, expresses his joy of her finally being able to leave her pit, and asks her if she already told them about «The Princess». Vueko reluctantly confirms she has, but notes she told the story from her point of view. [24]
Wazukyan shifts his attention to Riko and asks her if she has come to hate him now, knowing the past occurrences. Riko states she doesn’t really know Wazukyan well enough to come to hate him, but likes the village as it has many inhabitants who she can relate to. Wazukyan elaborates that she most likely feels that way because she is one of the few Delvers diving past the point of no return, and the villagers were once the same, with the village being a place for the ones with nowhere else to go. [25]
Riko, addressing Wazukyan again, says while she doesn’t know him too well, he doesn’t seem like a person whose deepest wish was a place for the ones who have nowhere else to go. An adventurous person like him who set out to find the Golden City would never stop at the entrance to it, which is the 6 th layer, and Riko asks him why he is pretending to have given up on his quest. [26]
Wazukyan expresses his joy for her observation skills and notes in the last 150 years she is the first to notice. Riko takes some time to think and when asks Wazukyan if he perhaps hopes for her to use the power of the Cradle to allow the people of the village to set out for an adventure once more. Wazukyan, speechless, asks how she came to that conclusion, to which Riko says she was in a similar situation before and Wazukyan once more praises her obsertivity. [27]
Moogie, addressing Wazukyan, tells him while she would like to venture in the Abyss again, she feels it would be unfair to force Riko to make such a wish, to which Wazukyan replies that nobody is forcing Riko and it is a decision only the ones challenging the Abyss can make; namely Riko’s group. [28]
Before anyone else can say something, Juroimoh shows up and starts attacking. Wazukyan quickly grabs Vueko and moves to a higher position to avoid Juroimoh. Reg manages to draw Juroimoh’s attention and a fight erupts between them, which leads to Juroimoh transforming into a even more monstrous form with the dark gooey liquid masses. While observing, Vueko asks Wazukyan why Juroimoh has the same name as her adoptive father who used to abuse her. Wazukyan explains that Irumyuui created Juroimoh from the signals she received from Vueko and Juroimoh is the very will of the village itself. [29]
Both, Wazukyan and Vueko, observe Reg’s battle against Juroimoh. While Wazukyan is exicted, like watching a sport competition, Vueko shouts at Reg that the Ilblu Balancing won’t work on Juroimoh. [30]
Shorty after Reg fired his incinerator, Faputa arrives. Faputa tells the onlooking villagers she will not forgive their sins and the time for their «extermination» has come. [31]
As Vueko and Wazukyan witness the battle and destruction, iron rain of the 6 th layer starts to fall. This leads to Wazukyan using his own body to shield from it. [32]
When Faputa turns to attack Riko, Vueko, scared for Riko’s safety tells Wazukyan to let her go, but he informs her she would just get killed if she were to try to help. [33]
After Belaf’s death, Vueko is saddened by what happened to Belaf but Wazukyan is relieved as Belaf has shared his feelings with Faputa, and thus Faputa most likely wouldn’t kill Vueko now; though he assumes he would be in real trouble now. Wazukyan apologizes to Vueko before warping her in the rest of his body and leaping down with her. [34]
Wazukyan, those body is barely still holding up, is later discovered by Riko’s group who had escaped the situation with Faputa. [35]
He adresses Riko and asks her if it was worth comming so far in her adventure. Riko thinks for a brief moment and tells him that it was totally worth it because if she had stayed on the surface she would have never even been able to imagine the places she saw so far and the people she met. [36]
She also tells him that she had the Star Compass a little while ago and though she lost it is sure the next one to find it will also go on their own adventure. To her, if that person also feels their journey was worthwhile, it is worth it to her. [37]
Wazukyan, though not quite sharing the same outlook anymore, admits that is a nice outlook to have on it. Nanachi then interjects and questions Wazukyan what ultimately his goal was. He tells them that they wanted to become something more than human as they felt this was needed with steady buildup. Thus they find themselves at the logical conclusion with Faputa seeking to find her own path to move forward. [38]
There is only one thing he wishes to do now, and that is to tell them to watch after Faputa. Reg tells him, at this point, this goes without saying. As Wazukyan begins to fade, he recites about how they are homesick children on a journey through the Abyss and something more terrifying than a dream gone unfulfilled waits beyond the Golden city. His hopes are that they try to make their dreams a reality and abandon hope. [39]
Riko also thinks things will not all go to plan as he says, but displays a postive outlook regardless. Taking note of that, Wazukyan fades away completely. [39]
Abilities
Specific Knowledge
As one of the Sages, Wazukyan possesses knowledge about processes in Ilblu. For example how the value of things are being set. [40]
Foresight
Wazukyan is seemingly able to forsee certain events to an extent as displayed in the build up to the conflict with Faputa and during it. [41] [42] However, as shown by his surprise by certain outcomes and situations, it appears to be more of a broad abstract foresight and him observing how the final result of the accumulating actions taken ultimately turns out. [43] [44] [45] He also has been described by Belaf as someone he believes to have some sort of a «divine possession» when it came to his instincts as his hunches and predictions were always right, even when he didn’t have any prior knowledge; with even predicting Vueko’s joining of Ganja. Appearance
Vueko, due to her long imprisonment, has very long hair that seems to have taken a slightly slimy consistency. [3] After being freed, Riko gave her a vast amount of clothing bought from Ilblu’s market to hide her identity. [4]
After being affected by the the curse of the 6 th layer and taking on characteristics of a cursed Narehate, her appearance has deformed animalistic characteristics and she loses the ability to speak in full coherent sentences though her mind is still intact. [5]
Personality
Vueko has a rather meek and shy behavior. Her banishment only heightened these traits of her personality; going as far as getting flustered at the mere sight of Reg. [6]
History
Early Life
Vueko, an orphan, who was raised by Juroimoh, a cruel man who physically and verbally abused her continually. He had illusions of grandeur, believing he was «playing the leading part» and that he had been «entrusted» with the Golden City, which he constantly boasted to Vueko. [7]
One day while fishing at sea, Juroimoh and a few fishermen spotted a smoldering, wrecked ship. All that remained of the crew were their mutilated corpses and a single man, barely alive, cowering in the stateroom. This man babbled wildly about a monstrous, man-eating hole and a Golden City at the bottom. Before succumbing to his injuries, the injured sailor gave Juroimoh the Star Compass that points at the location of the Abyss. [8]
Ganja Arc
As she grew older, Vueko inherited the compass, and trained to be a Delver, so that she could flee her life and find the city herself. As an adult she joined the Ganja suicide corps, led by Wazukyan, whose goal was the same as hers. Despite her lack of self-confidence, she eventually became one of the Ganja’s Three Sages. They followed the compass, reached the Abyss, and started their descent. When, they met a native girl, Irumyuui, who had been abandoned by her tribe as offering to the Abyss. The Ganja decided to take her with them and acted as their guide. [9]
During Ganja’s advance to the 6 th layer they met some Interference Units and learned of the curse. Accepting that they wouldn’t be able to return to the surface, Ganja set up a permanent camp on the 6 th layer. During their time in the camp, Vueko and Irumyuui grew very close to each other and Vueko developed a mother-like bond with her. [10]
Despite having developed a stable home, food, and water supply, many of members of the Ganja and Irumyuui suddenly fell gravely ill. Belaf deduced that their water, the only water they had, was the cause. Upon further investigation, Belaf discovered the water to be an organism with the appearance and viscosity of water, and it would transform its hosts into misshapen blocks of stone. [11]
As the group anxiously sought a cure and new water, a team that had been scavenging returned with an egg shaped Relic. Wazukyan asked the Interference Units if they understood its powers and they believed is was the Cradle of Desire, which could fulfill the holder’s deepest wish. However the minds of adults are too «messy or complex» for it and it would most likely work for a child, due to them having less complex thoughts. Vueko requested it to be given to Irumyuui in hope to save, and after Wazukyan had agreed, Vueko placed the egg on Irumyuui’s chest. When Irumyuui finally awoke the egg had fused with her body, becoming a sphere on her chest, but the pain was gone and she continued to transform. [12]
Due to her wish, Irumyuui kept giving birth to Neritantan- like offspring, but they died soon after birth due to being born without organs for ingestion. This caused Irumyuui great grief and Vueko comforted her. Later on, Vueko fell ill as well and was not able to comfort Irumyuui anymore. During the time of her illness Wazukyan fed her something she described to taste delicious with a scent of fat. Upon awaking, Vueko was healed. Seemingly, she has a bad feeling about what Wazukyan gave her to eat and upon questioning him he revealed the others had been healed as well, saying «That kid saved us all.» [13]

Vueko, flustered and worried, was asked by Wazukyan if she wanted to see Irumyuui. Upon arrival Vueko was horrified to see that Irumyuui had transformed even more, barely even recognizable but still able to recognize Vueko. [15]
Shaken by that sight, Vueko apologized to Irumyuui in tears and contemplated her own weakness of being unable to help her. Irumyuui comforted her by giving her a hug and telling her she is fine as long Vueko stayed with her and Vueko quietly sobbed unsure of what kind of hell will awaited them. [16]
The following days, Irumyuui’s children continued to be used as nourishment for the Ganja members. Belaf, who had tried to rather starve than eating them, was seen being so weak that Vueko had to force feed him. While he still pleaded to her to stop, Vueko thought to herself that this must be what hell is like. [17]
Vueko tried asking her what’s wrong, but got no response and Wazukyan, ominously, told her that it was almost «time to see Irumyuui’s true wish being fulfilled». [18]
Irumyuui continued moving and Wazukyan instructed the other members to stay close to Irumyuui and follow her, while he carried Belaf.
Wazukyan manages to grab on to her leg before she falls off, but Vueko hit her head on the stonewall and passed out, but before doing so noticed that Wazukyan had also used a Cradle of Desire on himself. [20]
When she woke up she found herself bound and in the dark pit Riko would later find her in. Wazukyan, now also turned into a Narehate, told her she is currently inside what used to be Irumyuui’s head as it’s the closest point Vueko could be to her. Vueko asked Wazukyan why he used a Cradle on himself, even though the Units warned them that adults would suffer from using one, and Wazukyan told her he did it in order to give the others faith in Irumyuui. He also told her, while being in the dark pit, she will be able to feel Irumyuui’s emotions and can watch over her from now on and leaves her. [21]
In the darkness Vueko is left in, she is able to receive signals from various places. Vueko also received signals from the now mindless Irumyuui and is able to tell because Irumyuui still had the second Cradle her last true final wish is granted: The birth of her last child, Faputa, who one day will take revenge for all her dead brethren. [22]
As Vueko senses Faputa’s birth she was relieved that Irumyuui didn’t forgive them after all and it can be seen, as the Interference Units quickly approach Faputa, she destroys them quickly before fleeing. Vueko still in the darkness started to sense the signals of Irumyuui’s dead children, named them and stayed in the darkness until Riko found her. [23]
Ilblu Arc
Riko discovers Vueko in the dark pit while she is searching for Nanachi and Reg. Riko was surprised to find someone being bound in such a cave and asks Vueko who she is and why she is imprisoned. Vueko timidly introduces herself to Riko and tells her that she was banished because she opposed the founding of Ilblu. [24]
But as she watched the village develop her opinion changed; she didn’t believe it to be so bad anymore because everyone was a narehate. She hopes to be freed one day, but thinks Riko probably won’t free a potential dangerous person she just met. However, Riko sets her free without hesitation, believing her to pose no danger. [25]
Afterwards, both of them climb out of the small pit and Riko disguises Vueko with various items to make sure she isn’t recognized in the village. After they get back Vueko points Riko to Belafu’s house, thinking Nanachi must be there. She remains outside because she is afraid of Belaf recognizing her. [26]
After Riko gets back, Vueko asks what happened inside to make Riko so dejected. The scene is interrupted by a Fuzosheppu attacking the village. While the village is under attack by it, Vueko watches Juroimoh fight the Fuzosheppu and is disappointed that he loses. After the battle, Vueko accidentally makes a relieved comment that makes Moogie suspicious and asks Vueko who she is. Vueko thinks she can’t keep it a secret any longer and begins to tell her backstory. [27] [28]
After Vueko has finished telling her story all of the listeners look truly surprised. Vueko tells them that Faputa has inherited the three Cradles from Irumyuui, and thus Irumyuui lost the power to maintain the village, but is kept alive by the new value brought in by visitors of the village. Faputa is trying to free her mother, Irumyuui, which would mean the destruction of the village. She also tells them it is not easy to leave the village after having entered it once. Riko asks her if it’s possible to convince Faputa from abandoning her wish to destroy the village, but Vueko tells her she most likely wouldn’t listen. Riko also ask what Vueko is going to do now, and Vueko responds that all she wants to do for now is not forget Irumyuui. [29]
After Reg returns with parts of Faputa, the village itself reacts to them. Reg panics and contemplates to bring the parts to Belaf right away, but is stopped by Vueko because she assumes seeing them could drive Belaf insane. When Vueko asks Reg how he acquired the parts, Reg tells her Faputa gave them to him so that he would fulfill his promise. [30]
Wazukyan, who had eavesdropped the conversation, concludes Reg must have been «The Prince» and is surprised Reg managed to secure parts of «The Princess». He also casually greets Vueko, expresses his joy of her finally being able to leave her pit, and asks her if she already told them about «The Princess». Vueko reluctantly confirms she has, but notes she told the story from her point of view. [31]
After the conversation between Wazukyan, Riko and the villagers, Juroimoh shows up and starts attacking. Wazukyan quickly grabs Vueko and moves to a higher position to avoid Juroimoh. Reg manages to draw Juroimoh’s attention and a fight erupts between them, which leads to Juroimoh transforming into a even more monstrous form with/ from the dark gooey liquid masses. While observing, Vueko asks Wazukyan why Juroimoh has the same name as her adoptive father who used to abuse her. Wazukyan explains that Irumyuui created Juroimoh from the signals she received from Vueko and Juroimoh is the very will of the village itself. [32]
Both, Wazukyan and Vueko, observe Reg’s battle against Juroimoh. While Wazukyan is excited, like watching a sport competition, Vueko shouts at Reg that the Ilblu Balancing won’t work on Juroimoh. [33]
Shortly after Reg fired his incinerator, Faputa arrives. Faputa tells the onlooking villagers she will not forgive their sins and the time for their «extermination» has come. [34]
As Vueko and Wazukyan witness the battle and destruction, iron rain of the 6 th layer starts to fall. This leads to Wazukyan using his own body to shield Vueko and himself from it. [35]
When Faputa turns to attack Riko, Vueko, scared for Riko’s safety tells Wazukyan to let her go, but he informs her she would just get killed if she were to try to help. [36]
After Belaf’s death, Vueko is saddened by what happened to Belaf but Wazukyan is relieved as Belaf has shared his feelings with Faputa, and thus Faputa most likely wouldn’t kill Vueko now; though he assumes he would be in real trouble now. Wazukyan apologizes to Vueko before wrapping her in the rest of his body and leaping down with her. [37]
At some point after Wazukyan had leaped down with Vueko, she started travelling upwards in the village. While she is doing so, Vueko is reminiscing about her past with Ganja, how she encountered Riko, and how Riko has accomplished so much while she wasn’t able to decide for herself. [38]
Lost in her thoughts, she is suddenly brought back out of them as the curse of the 6 th layer affecting her starting from one of her legs due to the boundary having vanished enough. As she starts losing her humanity, she is suddenly saved by Pakkoyan and thrown back down outside the reach of the curse. This leads to Pakkoyan vanishing due to her being outside the boundary of the village. [39]
Nanachi quickly approaches Vueko, takes her back to the others, and the group plans to make their way back to Faputa, having sent Reg ahead beforehand already. [40]
When Faputa notices the rest of the group after they had made their way back and approaches them, upon seeing Vueko in her transformed state, Faputa seems sorrowful and expresses she will direct her attention to Vueko later. [41]
As the village starts to crumble and fade away after Faputa starts the progress of dismantling the village, Vueko, who is among the onlookers reminisces about how she never was able to forgive herself for eating Irumyuui’s children and her not having been able to perish with Irumyuui, as well as having come to release that Irumyuui wanted more than just that. In her inner monologue, Vueko thanks Irumyuui for having treated her as human, that she has come to acceptance with the sin she has to carry for seeing off Irumyuui first, and how it is her very own warm darkness. [42]
After the village had been completely destroyed, as Faputa slowly wakes up again she takes notice of Vueko. [43]
Vueko tries to verbally communicate with Faputa, but Faputa tells her that there is no need for Vueko to try to speak as she can hear them anyway. Faputa tells Vueko that she did not know of her existence until Belaf showed her his memories via his scent. Faputa tells Vueko that she wants to learn more about the mother she never got to know. As Faputa questions if she really resembles her mother that much, Vueko clarifies that while not in personality, her smoothness and warmth are similar. Faputa also tells Vueko that she thought she had inherited everything from her mother, however, the memories of Vueko’s existance were nowhere to be found within her. This leads Faputa to assume that Irumyuui cared about Vueko so deeply that she didn’t want to part with any part of Vueko, to the point of not even letting Faputa have her memories. [44]
Vueko’s thoughts drift to old hearsay of trash turning to Gold, her final thought on this is how ironic it is that she recalls this now. As her consciousness begins to grow weaker, Vueko addresses Faputa as Irumyuui, and tells her how happy she was to have encountered Irumyuui and the change she had due to meeting her. Afterwards, she passes away which saddens Faputa much to her confusion due to Vueko belonging to her mother and not her. [45]

History
Curse Fleet Arc
While Cravali is shown to eat many bowls of the same dish in the Plummet Pub, Hamoroge Bowls, Tepasté asks him if he doesn’t get tired of it to which Cravali states he has a soft spot for this dish. [1]
Tepasté also asks him if he would like a quickie with her after having finished eating but Cravali reclines stating it would be bad for his mojo which leads to Tepasté also ordering a bowl and shortly afterwards noting the presence of Umbra Hands in the pub to Cravali. [1]
As Cravali takes a glance, the presence of the Umbra Hands, the Subterranean Bandits, and Hablog are shown. As Tepasté notes Gyarike among them she wonders if «Shroud» is also among them. Gyarike notices their observing of them which prompts Cravali to greet them with his personal greeting, «Dyaho-de», to disarm the situation. [1]
Then, he notes being impressed that Tepasté was able to noticed them without their masks to which she replies that the way they walk and their voices are all distinct. Tepasté then shifts the conversation to them now having quite the mess on their hands with the one left behind in the 2 nd layer. Cravali replies to it that there is no way it could have been hidden and from the looks of it several First Grade Artifacts were visible; plus fearing they most likely will be found out on their next delve. [1]
Tepasté wonders in return if the «Shrine Maiden» is alright to which Cravali replies that they will try to get more information later. Cravali also asks on any words of the others to which he is informed all they have to go on are the contents of a letter and is also asked if he thinks it might be a «Nest.» [1]
Hablog overhears this conversation and wonders if they are talking about the big joint delving project that is coming up. As the conversation progresses, Tepasté wonders if any of the White Whistles will take part in the big delve to which Cravali tells her that no mention of Special Grade Artifacts were made and Hablog will be in charge of this delve as he has a knack for it due to being broad-minded and on these big delves even sworn enemies work together. [1]
The conversation is interrupted by Yelme who came over and tells Tepasté this tavern is no place for Non-Delvers but the abyssial twist in her hair suggesting her having dived pretty deep into the Abyss as this is a sign of having been affected by the curse. As such, he questions her, in a a manner suggesting he is suspicious of her, whether or not she is just hiding her whistle and if she could just show it. Tepasté teasingly replies she shouldn’t just show it here but not minding even if it’s in front of many people. as she leans in, she also notes that Yelme to have had four prior criminal offenses and teasingly states how it would be a shame if he would get banned from delving for another or even demoted to a lower whistle rank again. She also highlights to be aware of his group affiliation as a Subterranean Bandit. This then leads to her trying to stab Yelme’s hand with a metallic claw on her hand, which he avoids but is hit by a chin jab of her and stomped on the foot while avoiding the claw. [1]
As he staggers over, Cravali catches him and places him on his lap. He tells Yelme a proper greeting is important as it is the basis for communication and as the Hamoroge Bowl ordered by Tepasté arrives Cravali feeds it to Yelme while elaborating on the dish and noting it works well against tipsiness from drinking to much as it is clear Yelme had been drinking. [1]
As he feeds it to Yelme, Yelme asks for Tepasté’s name to which she energetically replies but also notes she doesn’t think they will meet again. [1]
As Cravali and Tepasté make their way through Orth after having left the Pub, they note that the people they saw at it will be part of the big delving expedition and Cravali notes his desire to depart before things get complicated and thus they would leave via the abandoned factory route into the Abyss by sunrise for their illegal last dive. He then notices that a few things are missing from his pockets and it is revealed Yelme picked his pocket while Cravali fed him. [1]
After a skip in time, a badly hurt Cravali in the 6 th layer is shown. He takes note of having no more feeling in his hand, his left leg being broken and him not being able to feel his toes, and his rib cage to be busted. He is then contacted by Tepasté via a Communication Device and, upon asking if she is alright, she tells him she made it out without any serious injuries thanks to him plus if he will be able to make to her location. [1]
Cravali tells her he busted his leg and as she notes his rope still being with her and, thus him most likely not being able to make it back from his high location, Cravali tells her to go on ahead as their «pursuer» is most likely still coming after her. [1]
Tepasté remarks, in a bittersweet fashion, that Cravali prayed so hard for their success yet they had no luck. To this Cravali responds he doesn’t really rely on luck and his prayer is just a mental ritual to get prepared as a little game of his. He further tells her that if one don’t keep a light-hearted mood the mind gets stiff and brittle and for her to remember this plus to save the hard-headed brittle attitude for when things get tough. [1]
Tepasté teary-eyed replies she will do just that, knowing that she most likely won’t see Cravali again. As their communicators get out of range, Cravali tells her they will meet up in the «nest.» As Cravali notes to himself his right arm and everything up from his right ankle still to work he begins to try to climb down from his location as he sings Hariyomari’s song. As he arrived in the location Riko’s group would later find him in he slowly passes away from the exhaustion, his wounds, and dehydration. [1]
Capital of the Unreturned
Nanachi praises Riko for her leadership skills and the group begins to travel further into the 6 th layer. During their further travel, Faputa questions Nanachi about the curse itself and Nanachi gives Faputa explanations to it. Then, suddenly Meinya reacts to something and looks for it. As the group follows Meinya they come upon the corpse of a Black Whistle Delver. [2]
Reg initially panics but Nanachi quickly informs him that the Delver is already dead. As the group wonders about his cause of death, and which group he could have belonged to, Nanachi searches him for useful common Artifacts Delvers often carry and they collect an all-purpose lockpick, Gentle Knock, and an air dumpling, Mermaind Burp from the corpse. [3]
