Nothing Great is MadeВ Alone в„ў
That’s why Figma makes it possible for people to dream, design, and produce their best work together.
When designers work with non-designers it leads to new ideas. Like rappers and rockers making a song that changedВ music.
In the mid-80s, few things were further apart than arena rock and hip-hop. It wasn’t just the music that was different—the musicians came from completely different worlds and generations.
So the story goes, when producer Rick Rubin, music magazine editor Sue Cummings, and radio jockey Tim Sommer came up with the idea to push the boundaries of both genres by getting 70’s rockers Aerosmith and young, underground rappers RUN-DMC to make a song together, it seemed crazy. It didn’t help that some members of Aerosmith had no idea what hip-hop was, while the rappers had never heard of the rock band at all.
However, when they pushed aside their assumptions of one another, and let their different perspectives and talents play off each other to re-record Aerosmith’s song, Walk this Way, they created a track that not only changed each band’s career, but modern music as we know it.
The lesson we learned was that teams with diverse skill sets don’t just make better work, they’re more likely to create something entirely new—which is good for everyone on the team and design as a whole. That’s why Figma is easy for everyone on a design team to use, whether or not they’re designers—so different ideas can be given equal weight and add something new to the design process.
Having a single, safe place to jam on ideas makes everyone feel heard—whether you’re building apps or writing jokes.
For almost 5 decades, the Saturday Night Live writer’s room is where some of TV’s most memorable moments have been born. It’s also where countless skits are shot down every day. The room is full of possibility—but also risk for a new idea and the person who shares it.
While SNL’s Executive Producer, Lorne Michaels, staffs the writer’s room with a group of talented writers and comedians from different disciplines, the key to the show’s success is how he runs the room. He makes sure everyone feels heard and has equal time to speak.
“That’s my job: To protect peoples’ distinct voices, but also to get them to work together,” he said in an interview with Fast Company. “I want to preserve whatever made each person special before they came to the show, but also help everyone be sensitive enough to make the rough edges fit.”
“When I see the entire team drawing some kind of inspiration from the same thing, I know everything is working,” Michaels continued. “At that moment, the whole team is rooting for each other, and each person feels like the star.”
Similarly, here at Figma, we realized everyone on a team has to feel safe enough to share ideas and have a sense of ownership to make great work. That’s why all commenting and edits on Figma are transparent and no one person “owns” the file. This allows team-leads to engage specific people more often, and help the group see projects as “ours” not “mine.”
Every big idea is the foundation for an even bigger one—until your product reaches heights you never imagined.
Considering some design projects are completed in a day, it’s hard to imagine one that’s taken 150 years—and still isn’t finished.
Intended to be a Gothic revival church, the construction of Sagrada Familia began in 1882 under the direction of architect Francisco de Paula del Villar. He resigned within a year and Antoni Gaudi—whom the project is associated with—took over, changing things dramatically.
Instead of a standard church, Gaudi reimagined the Sagrada Familia as a towering grand cathedral that mixed organic design elements of Art Nouveau with traditional Gothic architecture.
Gaudi knew this approach would extend past his lifetime, but that didn’t stop him from drafting the plans and building what he could. Since his death in 1926, nine other lead architects, their teams, and various artists have continued Gaudi’s work and added their own interpretations. Scheduled to be completed in 2026, the Sagrada Familia will be the tallest church in the world, reaching 566 feet.
We don’t see the Sagrada Familia as an example of mismanagement. To us, it’s a testament to the ability of teams to see their project as part of a larger one, evolving into something better. That’s why Figma acts as a company’s storehouse of design knowledge—from tactical templates to strategic initiatives—so every team can produce newer and better ideas thanks to the work of the teams before them.

Coming together atВ ConfigВ 2021
Nothing great is made alone. Our teams, collaborators, and thought partners are instrumental in shaping a good idea into a great one. This year, more than ever, we’ve learned that the best ideas come from tapping into the power of varied experiences and diverse perspectives.
For a long time, togetherness wasn’t the norm in design. When we first launched Figma, people thought design was a solo act. Teams opened up over time, particularly over this past year, as entire organizations—designers and non-designers alike—sought out digital spaces, like Figma, to be together.
Today, at Config 2021, we announced new ways to bring you and your teammates together at different stages of design, while also enabling more people to meaningfully contribute to theВ process:В
Explore more ideas together withВ FigJam
From day one, we’ve seen our community push Figma beyond interface design. Figma has become an open canvas for teams to use however—and for whatever—they need. However, as a general design tool, Figma was not designed to be intuitive for all these use cases. That’s why today we’re announcing FigJam, a new whiteboard space purpose-built for you to brainstorm ideas, diagram user journeys, and more.
As you explore FigJam, you’ll find some unique features to express yourself. Since so many of us have moved from physical to digital spaces, we wanted to bring some of the serendipity and warmth of in-person interactions into the FigJam canvas. With emotes, chats, and more, we’re excited to create a space where teams can be themselves, together.
Iterate thoughtfully with branching
To better enable teams to collaborate as they grow and scale, we’re introducing branching to Figma. When inspiration strikes, you can now branch a file to provide yourself a breakout space to riff. Like everything in Figma, you can collaborate with others in the branch using multiplayer. Finished? With just a few clicks, you can update the main branch with a simple merge.
From empowering more teammates to contribute to your design system to enabling a safe space to explore variations, branching gives teams—especially large ones—a way to iterate together. Available in beta, branching is a feature on our Organization plan. To learn more about branching permissions and workflows, check out this article.
Figma at your fingertips with our new mobileВ app
Many of our users are designing state of the art apps in Figma and need a way to see how their designs look and feel on an actual device. But beyond that, we also want to give you more ways to share your work—to bring others along and involve them from wherever they might be.
The all new mobile app for iOS and Android is now in beta and will be released to everyone soon. Along with a more stable mirrored playback experience, files and prototypes are now easier than ever to access and view from anywhere. Visit this article for more information on our mobile app beta and upcoming launch.
Talk it out withВ audio
Sometimes it’s helpful to talk through changes live. With audio, you can start a call instantly in the editor and easily invite your colleagues to join you. Whether it’s doing a design critique live in a Figma file or holding a group brainstorm in FigJam, you can talk it out directly in the editor.
Coming soon, audio will be available to users on our Professional and Organization plans. You can sign up here to be notified when it’s available.
500+ users
In addition to creating new ways for different users to contribute, we’re raising the multiplayer limit to 500 concurrent users (100 editors and 400 viewers) in Figma today. And in a few weeks, we’ll be pushing that to 1,000 concurrent users (200 editors and 800 viewers) in both Figma and FigJam.
While we’re increasing these limits to support use cases like large scale design presentations, workshops, and classroom activities, we’re excited to see how they might open up new, different use cases we haven’t seen before in the design space. To learn more about our expanded user limits, check out this article.
Publishing to the Figma Community
Last but definitely not least, we are opening the Figma Community so everyone can publish now. Not only can you access files created from other users, like the new FigJam templates, you can share your work, a helpful template, or a cool trick withВ theВ world.
We can’t wait for you to try out these new updates and spaces to brainstorm, design, and build. We plan to iterate based on your feedback and are so excited to see what you and your teams create—together.
Nothing great is made alone
Our philosophy on creating a work environment that is rooted in collaboration.
Part of our job is to think up new things. New strategies, new products, new names, and new identities. To do this, we set up a collaborative exercise based on Design Thinking where we can bring our ideas together and hear each other’s feedback. After this process, we spend our time iterating based on the feedback we received. Then, we start the process again the next time we meet.
Giving feedback isn’t always fun. We fear the reaction. We worry about how it’s received. So we place special consideration on how we deliver it: with care, with tact, and with empathy. While giving feedback can be one of the hardest skills to master as a designer, there’s no doubt that it leads to great design.
Designing, receiving feedback, and iterating- is what Design Thinking is all about, and is essential to what we do every day. When we find out what doesn’t work, we learn from each other and act on it. Understanding each other’s opinions offers a better direction or may spark an idea that otherwise wouldn’t have had the oxygen to survive.
At Purple Bunny, we promised ourselves to always strive for progress, not perfection, to tap into the power of listening to diverse perspectives, and to involve everybody no matter which stage in the design. We’ve created a space where we are encouraged to meaningfully contribute to the process and find out what works, together. This means trusting the process, respecting everyone’s abilities, and having patience with one another.
Designing is never a solo act. It’s bringing together a team of people with different skills. And in order to do amazing things, we need to work together as one. Why? Because we need each other to complement our own skills.
Just like in an orchestra, collaboration is all about working together to give your best. There’s no room for egos, it requires long periods of practice, tons of feedback, learning to play by ear, and most importantly blending your sound with the rest. And while none of us can play any instrument, we’re sure that together, we can create melodies.

“Nothing great is ever accomplished alone.”
First of all I want to answer the question that WHY MENTOR? Why nothing is ever achieved alone? My answer is that Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity.
As, water is the compulsory ingredient for the plant growth. Similarly, mentor is like an ingredient of your successful career. In this picture i have taken water as a mentor and plant as a mentee. As water is important for the health of plant growth and in the same way mentor is important for the mentee growth in each and evey field of life.
“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction” John C. Crossby
Neither everyone have mentor and nor everyone have a great mentor. Mentors are found by interest and passion and aligning their interest with yours and making the most of it.
I had a great mentor in the form of my mother, who had supported me and guided through every walk of my life and made me who I am today. She made countless sacrifices for me. She inspired me to study and be successful. It is her inspiration that I am standing here and successful.
In professional life here in my university department Hailey College of banking and finance, I got to meet a very bright and talented teacher who is very much successful and renowned by his brilliant teaching. His name is Prof. Fida Hussain Bukhari, He is the Assistant Professor. He is very humble and very cooperative. I consider him my mentor.
I asked him for some time and he asked me to join him in the campus. When we met I shared following tips which I learned through Mr. Sohail Rizvi’s lectures. He listened carefully and said: these are very excellent tips to grow in your career.
1. Put your time in: Everyone starts out doing grunt work till trust is proven
2. Don’t talk badly about the company or about your boss
3. Take control of your relationship with your boss and team members
4. Find a mentor and manage the relationship strategically
5. Join a professional body and build your network
He said that strong relations with your boss, team members and workers built a connection between you and others. But do not take these relations personally or friendly because bosses generally do not like friendly relations. They always maintain some limits because it is very necessary and most people try to get extra benefits from those relations. Good relations help you to discuss your problems, your work progress with your boss, team members in a friendly manner and according to research friendly environment can enhance work performance up to 60% because bosses, managers and team members always there to help you at any moment.
At work, you have to try to make yourself very attentive. Never ever use harsh and bad words about company and your manager. If you do this, then you have to prepare yourself for results. Because every organization has some good and bad things. Don’t react to bad things. Try to work hard and gain experience. Experience is essential in order to pursue some career options and may also help clarify your career-related ideas. Even if experience is not directly relevant to the career path you wish to pursue, it can provide an opportunity to develop transferable skills that you may not readily develop in your current position. Whatever the reason, it can offer variety but do consider what you wish to achieve.
Also find a mentor or such a person who can lead you in an organization and in future, because these people have very much experience about practical field and industry. And can guide you better. Don’t share your personal stories with them. They will think that you are trying to getting some personal help from them and professional people hate these things. They can guide you, they can teach you but they can’t help you as you want. Build your professional career without others help. It builds confidence and makes you suitable candidate for starting your own business.
Networking in professional life is everything. Without networking, you cannot survive. It is a digital world and organizations and companies love to see your performance through social networks. And LinkedIn today is most usable and perfect social network. Where companies observe your performance very easily. So, make your profile excellent. It is important to take opportunities to develop networks — you never know when a contact may be valuable — or when you might be able to help someone else. Go to seminars, meetings and conferences; join groups such as professional bodies, staff associations and networks, and unions. Explore ways of using online social networks. Concentrate on areas where you need to increase your contacts. Don’t confine your networking to the workplace, especially if you are keen to explore other career avenues. Ensure that you keep contact details up to date and try to keep in touch by email or phone.
Online networking is the most accessible platform for networking with larger groups and works best as a follow-up to a positive face to face encounter or with personal introductions from colleagues. Social networking sites enable you to access a professional community, use the people you know to make contacts and give access to tools that facilitate networking.
Sir always used to say that even you are in the digital life but, you cannot ignore the importance of journaling. He also said that always make a performance sheet on which you must mention your work details. After one month, you will see that there are some fluctuations and things that can be improved by working on them.
He related this question with different stages of life. At this stage of life my WHY is to share my knowledge and expertise with the students. I want enlight the students with my knowledge which I have gathered over many years. There was also a stage of life where I was passionate to work for the economic betterment of the Pakistan. Which I did for many years. But due to some reasons I switch my career, and joined this institute. And I am pleased with my current and past life. He further explained that having a purposeful life is good, but never try make your purpose to harm others.
2. What is the pain (sacrifice) that you are willing to sustain to reach your goals?
He responded that pains are the part of life. Can you find a single person for me who is passing or passed his/her life without pains. I also faced a lot of pains. One pain which was hard to bear for me in my boyhood was that I had to share my sorrows with myself during my boyhood. I was never reluctant to make friends, which was only to save myself from long and funny gatherings. And in my workplace I faced pains of being truthful all the time. I never involved in any kind of workplace politics, never tried to hide facts which sometimes cause pains. But these pains helped me a lot to reach my destinations.
He quoted: “If you are not facing any pain in your life, it means you are not doing anything great with yourself.”
3. What are you passionate (or burdened) by?
Passion comes from someone who feels strong emotions towards something that interests oneself. When I am asked what I am most passionate about, tons of random thoughts will scatter in my brain to search for the answer. The answer is, there is no one answer. 🙂 Passion comes from different angles of emotions. I am passionate anything that pulls me in to be more of myself. But currently I am not passionate to towards any achievement. I am totally burdened by the thought that how I will be able to face the hardships of hereafter.
I am very grateful that Sir gave me some time. I thanked him for this conversation. And also forward him a thank you mail.
