Both the long and short version of The Exhaust for BMW R18 contain exceptional sound quality. Equipped with three different sound modes the exhaust boosts a beautiful, deep rumble (Mr. Hyde mode), tamed Mr. Hyde sound with a little more presence than the Dr. Jekill sound (Dynamic Mode), as well as a calm, low-key but distinctive sound (Dr. Jekill mode).
Our sound engineers have used the character of the boxer engine as a guideline in all sound modes. We are sincerely proud of our sound and product that we have created. The power of the Boxer engine is perfectly transmitted to the rumbling sound coming out of the Beat. But don’t take our word for it. Listen for yourself in the video below. The design of the BMW R18 differs completely from the stock exhaust, as well as the available aftermarket exhausts. The electronically adjustable exhaust system for BMW R18 comes in several different flavors. In terms of size you can choose between a long and a short version, both available in black and chrome.
For both the long as the short version we offer 4,0” end caps in different variations. To connect The Exhaust with the header set, we’ve made a custom link pipe and heat shield, available in black and chrome.

European type approval street legal
Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde | The Exhaust is a completely legal exhaust system that complies with European laws and is ECE, EG-BE and TÜV approved. The reason for this is that every Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde system contains a smartbox: this electronic control unit is the brain of the product and contains software that reads CAN Bus signals coming from the motorcycle’s ECU.
By committing the system to the parameters set by EU legislation, the Smartbox will seamlessly and subtly intervene if necessary. Riders don’t have to worry about breaking the law in any situation; the system is always legal no matter what sound mode is selected.

Therefore we take pride in the quality and durability of our products. All exhausts are made to last, designed and manufactured with longevity in mind. Our friends at Germany based WUNDERKIND-Custom have rolled up their sleeves and created a set of custom built parts for the R18, and created one of the first street legal custom BMW R18 motorcycles. It has become a true beauty and we are pleased that our Beat Short Black Exhaust fits perfectly into the design.
Other highlights are a shortened, unpainted rear fender made of steel, 3D-milled housings at the end of the struts with integrated LED indicator and tail lights, and a black comfort seat with diamond stitching and 3D mesh insert which allows a very relaxed riding style due to its shape and position.

Оппозитный двигатель
Сердце мотоцикла – это, несомненно, его двигатель. У BMW R 18 очень большое сердце. Это, конечно же, оппозит – но какой! Впечатляет не только его объем – а это 1802 кубических сантиметра. При разработке этого двигателя инженеры BMW не ставили целью эффективность или оборотистость: для этого есть другие мотоциклы. Главное – удовольствие от титанической тяги мотора, ощущения и эмоции, которые дарит мотоцикл. А еще – беспрецедентно трепетное соблюдение традиций BMW.
Именно поэтому на R 18 применен традиционный штанговый привод клапанов, а сам двигатель больше напоминает изящную скульптуру. Впрочем, показатели тут тоже впечатляющие: мощность 91 л.с. и 158 Нм крутящего момента, которые доступны практически с холостых оборотов – это серьезно!
Двухцилиндровые оппозитные двигатели BMW Motorrad – то, чем мотоциклисты восхищаются уже более 95 лет. Это визитная карточка бренда BMW Motorrad. Именно двигатели этого типа были установлены на самой первой модели мотоцикла BMW R 32 и с тех пор всегда присутствуют в линейке моторов компании. Мощность, крутящий момент, потрясающий звук и образцовая надежность – ключевые особенности оппозитных двигателей.
Оппозитный двигатель имеет множество преимуществ, среди которых – оптимальное расположение центра масс, отсутствие вибраций, равномерная тяга, а еще – дополнительная пассивная защита для ног водителя. Все эти качества оттачивались компанией на протяжении десятилетий. Именно поэтому современные «оппозиты» BMW по достоинству занимают высшие места в рейтингах мотоциклетных двигателей.
Но оппозитный двигатель R18 стоит особняком даже в линейке моторов BMW. Во-первых, он обладает поистине скульптурной гармонией и монументальностью. Во-вторых, это самый крупный двигатель BMW Motorrad, по размеру, массе и рабочему объему. Настоящий гигант! Фантастическая мощность во всем диапазоне оборотов достигается благодаря практически постоянному внушительному крутящему моменту: с 2000 до 4000 об/мин он превышает 150 Нм! А это значит – тепловозная равномерность тяги на любой из пяти передач.
Черный цвет
Как известно, Генри Форд считал, что автомобиль может быть любого цвета, если этот цвет – черный. Многие годы компания BMW придерживалась того же принципа относительно своих мотоциклов, но с одним важным отличием – практически каждый мотоцикл BMW, выпущенный до второй половины 60-х годов щеголял элегантной двойной полосой, вручную нанесенной на бак и крылья специальным мастером покрасочного цеха. Эти линии имеют название «двойная цировка» и являются неотъемлемой частью классического стиля BMW Motorrad.
До сих пор практически любая модель BMW Motorrad доступна в классическом цвете Black Storm, и на многих из них до сих пор вручную наносят двойную цировку. Новый BMW R 18 в первое время также будет предлагаться исключительно в черном цвете, а версия First Edition дополнительно имеет двойные белые цировки на баке и заднем крыле – еще одна отличительная черта баварских мотоциклов.
Дуплексная рама
Двигатель – это не только сердце мотоцикла. Это еще и ключевой элемент его дизайна. На BMW R 18 применена дуплексная трубчатая рама – такая же, как на исторических моделях. Двигатель закреплен в ней, словно в клетке – при этом он максимально открыт взору и у вас есть возможность насладиться его эстетикой.
Первые мотоциклы, появившиеся в конце XIX века, больше напоминали велосипеды с двигателями внутреннего сгорания. Моторы были совсем маленькими – поэтому вполне хватало обычной велосипедной рамы. Однако уже в начале двадцатого века мотоциклы начали обретать свой привычный вид – они становились все больше и мощнее: появлялись даже четырехцилиндровые конструкции.
Именно тогда и появилась дуплексная рама. Нижняя ее часть имела двойные стальные трубы, на которых и крепился уже достаточно массивный по тем временам двигатель. Еще одним достоинством трубчатой рамы являлась ее гибкость – она брала на себя многие удары от дороги, ведь задняя подвеска у мотоциклов в те времена была редкостью.
Сегодня дуплексная рама редко используется на дорожных и спортивных мотоциклах – она тяжелее других типов конструкций и не превосходит их в жесткости. А вот в сегменте круизеров ее сильные качества востребованы до сих пор.
Впрочем, на BMW R 18 рама не так проста, как может показаться. Визуально она напоминает тот самый Hardtail – раму с жестко закрепленным задним колесом. Но на самом деле задняя ее часть – это двухсторонний маятник. Да и жесткость у конструкции очень приличная: за счет применения современных марок стали, усилителей и продуманной геометрии. А главное – она позволяет оставить красивейший оппозитный двигатель R 18 открытым взору с любой стороны.
