Gladiia
Introduction
Gladiia is a Hookmaster Specialist with stronger offensive capabilities. She is a much better fighter than others of the same archetype, thanks to her increased damage against lower weight enemies and passive regeneration. She can handle directly fighting enemies which allows her to serve a role similar to a guard, while also providing crowd control. With this, she ends up being plenty useful even if you don’t want to focus on her displacement capability.

Her offensive stats are rather good, similar to other pullers, but the way Gladiia stands out is by having noticeably higher base HP than the others. This makes her overall much better at direct combat, especially with her talents which increase both her survivability and damage output, letting her get the most out of her stats.
Strengths
Weaknesses
Talents
Waves of Ægir
When deployed, all [Abyssal Hunter] Operators recover 2.5% Max HP every second and receive 25% less Physical and Arts damage from [Seaborn] enemies
This talent is great even just for herself, scaling well with her high HP. It allows her to be placed much more aggressively since she can sustain herself well. This is especially important as she will be pulling enemies towards herself to fight. Additionally affecting other Abyssal Hunters is a nice bonus, especially for Specter since it will scale additively with Specter’s own HP regen.
Survival of the Fittest
When attacking enemies with 3 or less weight, increase ATK to 130%
This talent helps Gladiia make up for her slow ASPD by increasing her DPH. Most enemies that you will face will usually have a weight of 3 or less, meaning the talent will be working most of the time. It’s a great bonus to have, and considering it’s an attack multiplier like all of her skills, they will stack together multiplicatively and scale well with ATK buffs.
Skills
Waterless Parting of the Great Ocean
A basic, single-target, automatic pull. As with all pullers, it’s best used if you need to constantly pull enemies towards her without needing much control. It has nice damage, can hold charges unlike other pullers, and has a low SP cost that just makes it an overall solid skill. Useful when you need a basic pull to do the job, but not much more than that. However, this skill does end up being more map dependent than the others, as if there is no hole for Gladiia to pull enemies into, this skill ends up being pretty much useless.
Skill Mastery
S1 is overall alright but ends up being less generally useful than the other skills, hence its lower priority. However it has already proven itself to be very strong for specific maps and strategies, meaning it does have merit if it fits the right criteria. If investing into this skill, make sure to plan ahead for where and how it will be used, and it will otherwise be wasted to go all the way to M3 for a pull force increase that may never come to use.

X3 | empty cell | active cell | active cell | active cell |
A mix of multi-target damage and pulling with good coverage and cycling. Overall her DPS will be lower if used against a single target, due to the big interval increase. Most importantly, Gladiia will be constantly pulling enemies with the increased range which can open up interesting strategies or opportunities for attack interruption thanks to the constant displacement while active.
The skill is the only alternative to Cliffheart that can pull with a wider range, which solidifies a niche for this skill. It can make use of Gladiia’s better survivability by drawing in lower-to-mid weight enemies towards her which she can then handle with relative ease. It can be used to take pressure off other operators, consistently pull multiple enemies towards a hole for an instant kill, or simply to keep reeling back a dangerous enemy so they’re an easier target.
Skill Mastery
S2 is Gladiia’s overall best skill making it an easy recommendation to invest into if wanting something more from her. The skill’s overall scaling is alright by itself and it’s mostly relevant to M3 for the pull force increase. This skill’s aim is to be constantly pulling multiple enemies to self, and a stronger pull allows it to be much more effective in general at getting the job done.
Waterless Dance of the Shattered Maelstrom
This skill has multiple aspects to it and focuses much more on crowd-control support. The skill’s crowd control with enemies being slower, pulled and grouped up in the center allows it to serve as a strong setup for AoE bombs and bursts. It has a lot of potential, but can also cause issues if you don’t make good use of it. Enemies who don’t die are pulled towards Gladiia at the end of the skill with no target limit meaning it could cause a leak, or result in Gladiia dying, depending on what is pulled.
The bind can easily be used to target a specific enemy, as it will always be the farthest one from her. The tornado has a good radius, thus making it easy to catch smaller enemies. The slow also guarantees heavier enemies will be held back, while faster, lightweight enemies will struggle to get out of its constant pulls.
Skill Mastery
S3 gets the most out of the force increase. Pulls have a duration that they pull for, and the Tornado’s pulls are shorter in duration meaning that having a stronger force ends up more significant so it can do its job better. The rest of the scaling gains are simply alright.
Gladiia’s file
Gladiia, an Ægir, Ægir technology consul, Honorary Army leader, and the chief combat strategist of the Ægir military organization «Abyssal Hunters.» The time and venue of her landing is unclear. Gladiia demonstrates exemplary abilities in a wild array of scenarios including confrontations against large creatures, hard objective demolitions, assault, annihilation, mobile warfare, and espionage. She is currently assisting Rhodes Island with its work as a collaborator. While she continues to fulfill Ægir state functions, she now also serves as a representative for Rhodes Island’s Ægir affairs.

Analysis
Imaging tests reveal clear, normal outlines of internal organs, and no abnormal shadows have been detected. Originium granules have not been detected in the circulatory system and there is no sign of infection. At this time, this operator is believed to be uninfected.
[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 0%
Gladiia shows no signs of Originium infection.
[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.011u/L
Gladiia rarely comes into contact with Originium. What exactly caused the scarcity of Originium in Ægir’s borders?
[Originium is not the only disease to befall us under this sky full of stars. The incurable disease wrought by the sea’s infection is one and the same as the flesh and blood of other species.]

You’re looking for Gladiia? You don’t know Gladiia, then.
Hah, «Has anyone seen Gladiia?» I asked that question so many times, but the only answer I’ve ever received is «No.»
It’s not that she’s elusive like Projekt Red is. Most operators don’t even know who she is. She doesn’t even have any reliable rumors about her, though she does have a huge sense of dignity. Sheeh, she really doesn’t give a damn about anyone else, y’know? The Rhodes Island Magnificent Seven didn’t get its name for sitting around! I really oughta have them teach her a little.
I’m just kidding. Can you even say for sure who could take her on in a fight? I don’t think I can. Abetting your operators to fight? Better watch out for the legal department.
Really though. You’re definitely gonna be turned away, but let me remind you anyway. It’s strictly forbidden to bring those Ægir to the training rooms. Don’t even think about it. If you haven’t seen Gladiia fight. You ain’t got no idea what it’s like. She sometimes complains about how dry her skin is, how there’s no water, how that keeps her outta the game and whatnot. That’s cause she runs way faster than arrows. When she fights, she makes all these loud noises, and, like, if she says anything to you during a fight, you’ll be dead before you even hear it. Her lance’s not for stabbing. She hacks at people with it like an axe, a sickle. It still leaves a whole bloody mess on the ground in the end, but it’s creepy for real.
Seriously, you’ve never met her before, have you?
—Closure, chilling on the couch as she remarks to a certain eager operator while tossing her portable terminal into the trash can for the third time of the day.

[Of all the countries there are in this world, Iberia is the only one to have even a shallow understanding of the sea. From the way I see it, the difference between their countries’ might and Iberia’s is a result of their ignorance.
The societies on land are neither efficient nor safe. This isn’t anyone’s fault.
However, the Ægir must be traitors in their eyes, though that’s hard for me to imagine.
I never got to know my father, but my birth mother was someone who enjoyed authority, indulged in worldly pleasures, and ever so short-sighted–This last part is perhaps arguable, but there is no doubt about the first two.
That is why I did not stay with my birth family. It took me a very long time to break free of my birth mother’s control too.
My family are those who raised, acknowledged, and supported me, and not the ones who merely passed on their genes to me. I am not related to my new family by blood, and that’s a common thing among the Ægir.
Kal’tsit thinks the Ægir’s pride and isolation are sins in themselves. She likely has her own reasoning for that.
I know very well that these uncivilized landwalkers are not going to accept us Ægirs. Neither Ægir’s culture nor its knowledge will ever be of any use to them.
Keep your weapons from the barbarians.]
—Gladiia
Don’t listen to her. She’s knowledgeable in transmission tech, she’s just not giving you any of those core technologies. and we have no use for them either. Where are we supposed to even get our hands on those materials?
If she’s mad at you, that’s definitely a good thing! If she’s polite, though, that means she doesn’t really care much about you. It’s not something she’s going to say out loud because of her pride. We’re used to people like her.
—A certain Engineering operator; name omitted likely out of fear.

I thought Gladiia doesn’t do research with the rest of us because she’s always somewhere else.
I heard from Gladiia later on that there are actually two types of consuls in Ægir: science and technology. She’s on the technology side, so she’s not too familiar with theories and the like.
Ægir’s basic education is really on another level. From my point of view, she’s an all-rounder. Are consuls supervisors, though? Do scientists and engineers run the country too? Hm. It’s quite hard to imagine, really.
By the way, military technologies are apparently technologies too.
Originium Arts don’t count, however. She doesn’t understand that at all. Are all Abyssal Hunters, like, completely insulated from Originium? Even someone with as bad of an infection as Specter couldn’t use the most simple of Arts.
I think I kind of have a guess why that is, though she’ll never admit to it.
I think the Abyssal Hunters have to be the product of Ægir’s technological research. God knows how Ægir gets its people to accept that kind of research, though..
Ægir’s technological level is really beyond measure. Its cities are completely invisible even under such immense pressure, its energy facilities are powered without the use of minerals, and its low-temperature alloy treatment process. the ability to transmit large amounts of information with minimal loss, and the blends of so many different species.
Dear god.
What’s more, the ocean. If the lands are truly boundless, then what about the ocean? How many Ægir cities are there? There can’t be more cities down there than on land, can there?
[Why haven’t they tried to make contact with us?]
Now that’s the million-dollar question. I shudder to even think about it.
. Those sea monsters. Just how bad are they that the Abyssal Hunters can’t go home anymore?

[Private Log Transmitted To You]
What should the Abyssal Hunters do from here on out?
There has been no response to the transmissions that Gladiia made with Rhodes Island’s equipment. No one knows what has become of Ægir beneath the ocean’s surface, much less whether the other Abyssal Hunters are still alive.
I am certain that the Ægirs that the Iberians took in, the «Islanders,» that is, were citizens of the sea who left their homeland after the events that unfolded there.
Most of the islanders are technological workers, with only a small amount of them scientific researchers. The science consuls? Leaving their magnificent, advanced homes behind was sacrilegious to them.
Though they were mere fragments of Ægir’s technological advances, using the Islanders’ technology, the Iberians immediately propelled themselves from just another powerful nation into a dominating superpower. The whole of Ægir’s might and technological prowess are things that the nations on land will never want to witness firsthand.
And that’s to say nothing of how the majority of those who live on land do not know that oceans existed in the first place.
Although Gladiia remains unwilling to reveal this information, we know that the few Ægirs there are in Iberia had moved there years ago, and that’s also how the Abyssal Hunters came to be. From this, we can already surmise that the events that transpired in Ægir are no mere disasters.
The Abyssal Hunters are undoubtedly the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Ægir’s military technologies. They definitely are not Ægir’s last defense. They are its vanguards and its sacrifices, as though the Ægirs were trying to test the sea monsters.
Gladiia is not one to shy away from conveying her pride using etiquettes, but she cannot hide the fact that she is also trying to conceal her anxiety.
I can tell they have much to keep from me, and far too much.
She hasn’t told you why the Seaborn was looking for Skadi, has she?
Speaking of which, the Seaborns are far from the top of the hierarchy of those sea monsters. There must be even more advanced life deep under the sea.
Gladiia tried to protect the Abyssal Hunters in her own way. She’s afraid that the Church of the Deep and the Seaborns are far from the only ones who will try to do harm to the Abyssal Hunters. She believes the technology and information she holds are one of the few bargaining chips she still has left.
She is trying to trust us, but she remains untrustful of others. If she didn’t want to help all of us fend off these threats from the sea, then she would be sunbathing on the deck right about now instead of running all around the world.
In addition, if an uncontrollable change is occurring to Skadi, then as one of the first Abyssal Hunters, the road Gladiia has ahead of her is just as bumpy.
Give her a little time. The training and experience she has will lead her to make the right conclusion.
She is still a citizen of Ægir, but we. we don’t belong to any nation out there.
Ægir is yet silent.

Never give up hope. You must live.
Marah takes one last breath. Her light blond curls dangle on the soldier’s arm. He hangs his head, a grim expression still on his face, as he tries his best to hide the tears dripping down his face. A round of applause. The show has reached its conclusion. This is where you stand up and join the ovation.
The Seaborns cannot enjoy theatrical performances, and the Sea Terrors don’t know how it feels to enjoy music.
Never give up hope. This is our last line of defense.
Applaud these works of elegance. They may be the only assets our kind has left.
«Now, seriously, if you want to know how she looks like, you should go to Rhodes Island’s balls. She goes to those every time she’s on the ship. You can usually find her in the bars, too. She usually sits in the corner and listens to jazz music, though, so it’s not easy to strike up a conversation. Balls, though. If you ask her for a dance, she’s usually going to nod and agree even if she doesn’t say a peep. Have you seen her dance by herself? No? You gotta see it, then. Her turns are like the wind, and her hair flutters on the stage like a maelstrom. I was so captivated, I didn’t even notice when the music stopped. That’s not what I wanted to talk about. When she dances with someone, she’s like a whole different person. It doesn’t matter how good a dancer you are. When she takes your hand and holds your waist, she makes you feel like you can dance, too. Even if you’re terrible at it, she will never let you step on her dress. If she weren’t so formal around everyone, I might just have. *sigh*. I’m so lucky that I still got to dance with her.»

Waves of Aegir
Survival of the Fittest
This simple talent is unlocked upon promoting Gladiia to E2, and its effects are quite straightforward: Whenever she attacks an enemy with a Weight level of 3 or lower, she deals an extra 36% damage. This practically means she will get an attack boost against most non-boss, non-heavily armored enemies in the game (and even some of those still have a Weight of 3!).
Skill 1: Waterless Parting of the Great Ocean
This skill is unique amongst shifters due to its ability to hold charges, kicking it up a notch in usefulness. Much like many other charge skills, this one starts being able to hold 3 from M1 onwards. Apart from this, Gladiia ’s first skill is practically a carbon copy of Cliffheart ’s, with the same Large pull force at Mastery 3, same charging time and slightly higher damage, but this time around Physical instead of Arts.
There’s not much else to be said for this skill concerning the Puller niche. It is a direct upgrade over Cliffheart that you can get for free, making her the preferred choice if you want to E2 a Puller Specialist eventually. A more interesting discussion is how this skill, paired with Gladiia ’s stats and her passive regeneration, let her act as a decent sustained damage Guard for newer players with underdeveloped rosters. Thanks to her Talent she can also survive for long without much aid, letting her hold lanes for a while before needing any kind of support.
Gladiia S1 in Spectrum Risk 31
Skill 2: Waterless Grasp of the Raging Seas
As for the rest of the skill, it certainly loses some of the appeal that Cliffheart has with her True Damage and Stuns, instead being replaced by a slightly lower Physical multiplier with no status effects attached. Thanks to her stat spread, talents and skill cycle, however, Gladiia still manages to do more overall damage until really high enemy Defense values, where Cliffheart ’s damage type proves more useful. Interestingly enough, Gladiia ’s skill also prioritizes pulling blocked targets, which may come in handy in some situations.
As with her first skill, it really shines as a tech option for really hard content, and much like it, it has also seen usage on some of the very first (and only!) clears of a certain Max Risk Contingency Contract season (Max possible Risk, that is). In CC#6 Wild Scales, Gladiia is able to adeptly utilize her range increase and constant pulling skill to abuse the only hole in the entire map to quickly and effortlessly deal with some dangerous targets.
Skill 3: Waterless Dance of the Shattered Maelstrom
Overall, this is quite a nice skill, even if the uptime leaves it a bit to be desired. Used as a burst skill it can work pretty decently, and it definitely has potential as a more technical option for harder content, even if it has yet to see any usage.

[Gladiia] is a 6★ Puller Specialist that restores HP to, and reduces damage taken by, Abyssal Hunter Operators! She comes with single target, multi-target, and AoE pulling Skills, with her S3 having a unique function and applying crowd control and dealing Arts Damage!
Talents and Skills
Archetype: Puller Specialist
Trait: Can Shift enemies by using skills. Can be deployed on Ranged Grids
Talent 1: When in Squad, all [Abyssal Hunters] recover a percentage of their Max HP every second and receive reduced Physical and Arts damage from [Seaborn] enemies
Talent 2: Increase damage against enemies with 3 or less weight
First Impressions
Note: These are first impressions and based on conjecture since we don’t know the exact details.
Gladiia with be a 6 Star Puller Specialist, obtainable free in the upcoming Under Tides event. She will be the first 6 Star Operator given to players for free, and the first 6 Star of her Archetype. There isn’t much doubt that Gladiia will be a cut above the other Puller Specialists. Not only does she have the standard single-target Pull skill with S1, but her multi-target S2 also extends her Attack Range.
Her S3 is something completely new to the Pulling game. It’s an AoE pull centered on a distanced enemy that also Binds the target and Slows the others. After a duration, those caught up in the tornado get pulled toward Gladiia. The potential usefulness of a wide-area AoE pull seems obvious. Less obvious is how useful the other mechanics will end up being, and if they will be useful enough to warrant her use outside of just pulling things into holes.
Her Abyssal Hunter buff will be welcome for those that use Skadi and Specter especially, but its severely narrow application will likely limit its strength for most players.
Gladiia’s overview
Unlike other Operators, Gladiia can be deployed on both melee and ranged tiles, and as a Hookmaster Specialist, she has an extended attack range of two tiles ahead, or three at Elite 1. Despite those, Gladiia remains classified as a melee Operator.
Gladiia’s skills act as core to her playstyle, though hers take the pulling capability to a whole new level:
Gladiia’s first talent, Waves of Ægir, makes Abyssal Hunters Operators (Andreana, Gladiia herself, Skadi, and Specter) regenerate HP over time and take less Physical and Arts damage from Seaborn enemies, which can be useful in SV (Under Tides) operations (that matches with the lore). Her second talent, Survival of the Fittest, increases the damage dealt by Gladiia’s attacks against enemies whose weight are 3 or lower, allowing her to take out lightweight enemies without much trouble.
Gladiia’s HOK-X Operator Module, Consul’s Hand Mirror, cause enemies she drags to receive 800 Arts damage for every tile they passed through, in addition to increasing her maximum HP and ATK; once upgraded, Waves of Ægir’s HP regeneration and damage reduction are increased.
Gladiia’s first base skill, Tide Observer, increases her morale drain rate by 0.5 per hour for every Abyssal Hunters Operators (see above) assigned to facilities other than Dormitories, who instead makes her recover 0.5 morale per hour that are further increased by 0.5 for every Abyssal Hunters Operator resting in Dormitories whose morale is full, when she is assigned to the Control Center, with her second base skill Group Hunting α (Group Hunting β at Elite 2) making all Operators assigned to the Control Center (including Gladiia herself) recover 0.05 morale per hour. Furthermore, Group Hunting also makes every Abyssal Hunters Operator assigned to a Factory increasing its productivity by 5% (10% for Group Hunting β) for each Abyssal Hunters Operator assigned to a Factory (e.g. assigning Andreana, Skadi, and Specter to a Factory will increase the productivity by 15% each), up to 45% (90% for Group Hunting β) per Factory. Do note that Group Hunting α/β’s productivity bonus will not stack with that of Waai Fu’s Cooperative Will, Automation α/β, and Weedy’s Bionic Seadragon; the latter two of which will override it and the most effective effect will take precedence over the other(s).
Overall, despite her rarity, Gladiia is more of a situational rather than a core Operator; she typically only saw usage in operations where environmental kills by pulling enemies into their oblivion are possible. However, if utilized properly, Gladiia’s pull skills can at times change the tides of a battle, notably by forcing them into the range of other Operators and stalling enemies’ advance more effectively than other Hookmasters.
