First, let’s start with those that are completely optional: Attack on Titan: Junior High and Attack on Titan: Chronicle.

Attack on Titan: Junior High (2015)

This is a chibi comedy of the original series, and it can be completely skipped.

Attack on Titan: Chronicle (2022)

This movie recaps the anime’s 59 episodes from seasons one to three, so if you remember the stuff that happened before there is no need to watch it.

The Attack on Titan OVAs are bonus episodes. At the moment, there are eight Attack on Titan OVAs available. They’re optional side material, but they’re quite interesting, so I recommend watching them all. If you don’t have time to do so, watch at least the first one because it’s plot-relevant.

No Regrets Part 1 & 2 (2014–2015)

No Regrets explores Levi’s backstory regarding his recruitment into the Survey Corps.

It’s also fine to watch this after S1 because it contains spoilers. You should watch it if you can find time for it, it’s worth it!

Lost Girls Part 1 & 2 (2017)

A story about Annie’s exploits halfway through Season 1. Only watch it after you’ve finished S2.

Lost Girls Part 3 (2017)

Season 1

The following bonus original video animation episodes were released alongside select volumes of the manga. The first one, “Ilse’s Notebook”, adapting a special chapter from tankōbon volume 5 included with a limited edition of volume 12, released on December 9, 2013. The OVA was bundled on a subtitled DVD with the English limited edition release of the 17th manga volume, released on December 1, 2015.

A second OVA was released on April 9, 2014, bundled with the 13th volume of the series, this one focused on the members of the 104th Training Corps. The third OVA, “Distress”, about a 104th Training Corps wilderness exercise, was released on April 9, 2014, bundled with the 14th volume of the series.

This OVA of Attack on Titan takes place in the year 850, whilst Eren and the others are in training as the Recon Corps go on a mission, with Hange deciding to pursue a Titan spotted in the forest in the hopes she can capture it. It follows the after events.

This OVA of Attack on Titan takes place in the year 849 as Jean returns home after two years in training. It follows Jean getting into a dispute with Sasha following a training exercise, as Commander Pyxis suggests they settle things in a cooking contest.

As another OVA of Attack on Titan takes place in the year 848 while the recruits are split into two groups for a wilderness exercise to learn how to sustain themselves in times of peace. Marco has trouble leading his group due to the arrogance of both Eren and Jean.

The spin-off OVA of Attack on Titan follows Levi during his days as a criminal in the underground city, when he was with his two best friends Isabel Magnolia and Farlan Church before Erwin Smith recruits him into the Survey Corps. It was released in 2014 and 2015.

Chibi Theater: Fly, Cadets, Fly!

It’s a series of gag shorts of Attack on Titan included with the Blu-ray Disc/DVD releases of the first season, featuring the characters in chibi form based on designs by Yuupon. Season 2

This adaptation was released in three-part on December 8, 2017, April 9, 2018, and August 9, 2018, with the 24th, 25th, and 26th limited edition volumes of the original manga, following two female characters in the series: Mikasa Ackerman and Annie Leonhart.

“Wall Sina, Goodbye” is about Annie and her life as a member of the Military Police Brigade in the time before she attempts to capture Eren on a Survey Corps reconnaissance mission.

Season 3

The second part of Lost Girls following Mikasa and her relationship with Eren and “Lost Girls” is about their interaction during training and the reconnaissance mission.
