. In this tutorial I will show you how to do a front view anthro head, following simple references.

If you memorize where and where not to draw like showed here, it will came out naturally I the future, for now, draw the sphere.

*Don’t give up, if your first draw don’t came out like the one of the tutorial, the goal here is to make you memorize the basic head facts.

“why did I my draw didn’t came out like the tutorial?”
-please, notice that I am using the middle line of the sphere as reference for the cheeks (those starts there), also, I recommend you to check the “Fur effect tutorial” on the gallery for the cheeks and head fur.
-Don’t draw the nose to big (is a common mistake)
-take your time to think if it looks natural for you, comparing to the picture or to another pic of your likeness.

*Remember that this is an sketch, so draw soft lines first to see if what you are drawing is what you want.

“I think the muzzle is too big for me”
-it really depends on you, just keep it in a realistic size, it also can vary depending on the species.
-remember that the nose can vary depending of the species too!

“why did you didn’t added the eyes?”
-I didn’t added them to let you play with the eyes sight, you will be able to do that with the tutorial for head and faces(search it on the gallery)

“why did you added those black arrows?”
-those arrows are the direction of the main view of the head, in this case the circle, so you can draw the cross correctly to make it look 3dimensional.

*This tutorial is for a front view of the head, I will make one for the sided head soon.

*And THINK IN 3D! (search the tutorials for 3d so your mind will get used to think in 3D)

Steps To Draw Furries For Beginners

Step 1: At first, you have to create a circle to make the head of furry and then create a line approx in the middle of the circle which will show that how far down or up you want your character to appear. Here, by drawing the middle line you will be going to get a straight looking diagram.

Step 2: Now, we are going to complete the head portion by adding eye, ears, and muzzle at accurate positions. You have to also include cheek, chest fur and neck.

Step 3: You can give the final touching to the eyes and other portion of the furry.

Step 4: After it we are going to add muzzle and also keep in mind that you have not to make chin tall or looking it weird. For more beautiful appearance also remember that make the chin pretty and short to the snout.

Step 5: Next, we are going to include the nose, eyebrows and cheek fur to the diagram.

Step 6: Now, you have to complete the structure by providing ears for your diagram, you can create the fluffy ears also.

Step 7: Afterward, you are going to give the top of the head and add another ear for your furry.

Step 8: At last, we are going to add chest fur and neck furry.

So finally your structure is completely ready.

Method to Draw Furries

If you looking to get a stepwise guide for drawing your furry conveniently then follow the below steps.

Step 1:- At first make a circle for the head of furry.

Step 2:- Next draw lines for the head and body of furry after completing the head structure.

Step 3:- Now, we are going to draw the hairs of it as shown in the diagram.

Step 4:- After it we are going to draw the ears of furry which will be attached with its hair.

Step 5:- For making it look more beautiful and creative add some shades to the hairs of the furry.

Step 6:- Later on we have to make the eyes and collar of the diagram.

Step 7:- At last give the final outline to your structure and can finish it by drawing decorative structures as shown in the image.

How to Draw Furry Heads?

Most of the people feel difficulty in drawing the head of furry, here we are going to provide you with the stepwise guide of drawing furry’s head.

Step 1: First of all, draw the head by making a circular outline.

Step 2: Then begin to draw the mouth and nose of the structure with long teeth mouth and a pointed nose.

How To Draw a Furry Wolf?

Step 1: First of all, make a circle for the head of a wolf and then make a plus like sign in the circle.

Step 2: Now, only keep a single line passing from the center horizontally dividing it into two and draw the two triangular shaped ears for your wolf.

Step 3: Next, draw a long nose coming out from the head portion and make shading for giving extra strokes.

Step 4: After this draw the two big ovular eyes of the wolf.

Step 5: At last draw, the furry neck region of the wolf and you are all set.

How to Draw a Furry Fox?

Drawing a Furry fox is almost similar to the wolf let us come to know the steps of it.

Step 1: First of all, draw the ears of your fox and in the middle draw furry hairs of it as shown in the image. The making of the structure will depend on your priority which side face will you like to have, front facing or side facing.

Step 2: Next, we are going to draw the outline for the head or face of the fox.

Step 3: After it, draw other primary characters into it like eyes, nose, chin etc.

Step 4: Shade the portions you want to make it more beautiful and your furry fox is ready to rock.

To make a fur suit head, you’ll need 1-inch thick foam, glue, plastic wrap, duct tape, and fur. Start by wrapping the foam around your head, and marking where the foam meets at the back of your head. Then, cut away any excess foam and glue the edges together. After that, fold the top of the foam in, cut off any excess foam, and glue the top together. Once you’ve got the basic head shape, cut out foam ears and glue them to the sides of the head. You can also fold a piece of foam in half and glue it on the front to make a nose. When you’ve covered the head, use scissors to carefully cut the duct tape into sections, such as the cheeks and forehead, stick the sections of tape to your fur, and cut them out with scissors. When you’ve cut out all of the sections of fur, stitch them together with thread and glue them onto the mold of your head. How to draw anthro heads

A quick example of how I approach heads:

It helps to think in terms of 3D objects. The main mass of the head is a sphere, with the attached muzzle and ear shapes varying depending on which species you’re trying to depict.

I’ll start with the rough sphere and some crosshairs on top to set the angle and position of features I’ll draw later.

Then, on top I’ll sketch out the form of the eyes and eye sockets, and the muzzle form below. Eyes are usually placed above the center crosshair. A good rule of thumb is that the eyes are spaced one eye-width apart.

After that I’ll add in other forms like cheek-fluff and hair, and start working out details.

The main objective here is to figure out form and pose before adding any details!

My greatest weakness is getting the hips right. ie. linking the legs to the rest of the body, especially when working with digitigrade legs! if you can do a full body one that covers this problem, i’d appreciate it, thanks.

Drahor, Try and take the examples of how the heads can be broken down from this tutorial, look at some horse references/anatomy and figure how you can apply it yourself.

If you rely entirely on formulas you’re not going to learn how to pick up on new subjects when assistance such as this is not available.

Also I haven’t read them but that “Weatherly Guide” and “Art of Animal Drawing” linked in the books section more than likely has the info you’d want.

That’s a good start indeed, could you make one “How to draw muscles?” Not giant muscles like the men that boost themselves with steroids, just muscles to show that the anthro is not flat, if people (like me) prefer muscular anthros to fat anthros. I hate to say this but; the anthro wolf head is a bit wrong. I know it’s supposed to be anime, but the ears are wrong and the nose is a bit short. It looks more like some kind of cat more then a wolf. It’s a good way to teach though, and for that I’m greatful.

you should try drawing unicorns or dragons, but thanks so much for teeching me how to draw these things espesily the athros I never knew about them entell now.

Thanks to the tutorial I finally figured out how to draw those heads, everything before was a headless thing.

It is very detailed and has sparked off my interest.Before,my anthro headds always seemed out of place or what many of my friends called”cartoon”.(unrealistic)
Hope that the “good cheese”and “Roza” series finish soon.The drawings help A LOT!

Really great tutorial! And all I did was look and appreciate art, but not draw it. but thanks to this, I’m inspired to DRAW now, and if it doesn’t look good, then I’ll practice until it’s just right! Now I’ll be able to appreciate the art of others as well as mine 🙂

I really like how you have the guides on different types of animals. It is supah helpful. Specially since I draw TONS of cats. ((side note: I like the tiger’s expression. A little ‘come hither’ish, no?)) My cats look fairly decent now, and my dogs look pretty good from profile view.

Is it possible to draw a furry head in photoshop? because, I don’t have a scanner to put my my stuff in the internet. But I know that drawing with a mouse is way harder than with the hand. BTW, my drawing suck and I hope your tutorial helps me to improve.

Ive never felt more confident about a drawing/sketch Ive done before trying my methods with these techniques in mind; Ive been up all night drawing tons more after taking a look through this. This is a great tutorial and it’s helped my drawing a lot, though I kinds wish there was something more in depth with the fox, something almoast Robin Hood ish, I have lots of trouble finding tutorials on them

Why can’t I find a book thats as great & helpful as this site? I’ve honestly never seen anyone make/ write anything that focuses on anthro creatures. You’d think, with all these new animated movies & furries out there, that someone would want to make a profit off of the subject.
