How to manage default search engines
I cannot add or delete or change a present search engine. See the picture:
How can I do it?
@wfi As a simple research would have told you, it’s not possible.
You mean clicking the three vertical dots on the far right doesn’t bring up a «make default» pop-up message?
@fadec no, I mean delete the ones that are on the list and put there some others.
how to make the vpn automatically turn off on problem sites?
@juangonzalez no, I mean delete the search engines that are on the list and put there some others.
I don’t know why opera puts a certain list of search engines, now that I remember you can set up the start page of opera
@juangonzalez can you please be more precise?
me although I try other search engines, I always go back to google, everyone wants to appear there, since it is the most used, except to look for things that can not be counted, for that I use yandex
Stay on topic. Don’t hijack other people’s threads.
Please open another topic.
@leocg what do you mean?
@wfi Clearly my reply wasn’t for you but for juangonzalez, who asked something tottaly offtopic.
@wfi As I have answered before, it’s not possible.

how i can add yandex for example
@negivare Only those pre-configured search engines can be set as default one.
@negivare You can add any search engine but you can’t make it the default one.
Search the web
Search the web with the combined search and address bar
The combined search and address bar allows you to query search engines or input web addresses to find what you’re looking for on the web.
If you don’t know the location of a page, or if you want to see relevant results from search engines to help you find information, use the combined search and address bar to search the web. Opera queries the Google search engine by default.
To search the web:
Predictive search suggestions appear as you type. If you want to view results from another search engine, such as Yahoo!, Amazon or Bing, click the corresponding tab that appears at the lower-right of the predictive search suggestion box.
If you already know the location of a page, type the web address directly into the combined search and address bar and press Enter to navigate to that page. For example, type www.opera.com and press Enter to navigate to the Opera Software homepage.
Change the default search engine
Opera’s default search engine is Google, but you may prefer to search using Yahoo!, DuckDuckGo, Amazon, or Wikipedia. To change the default search engine:
Set up custom search engines
In addition to Opera’s defaults, you can set up the combined address and search bar to return results from other search engines. To do so:
You can view results from your custom engine by clicking the new tab that appears in Opera’s combined search and address bar. Or, type your engine’s assigned keyword first followed by a space and then enter your query.
You can edit keywords, and manage or remove search engines from the preferences page.
Search the web using text on the page
Text on the page can be used as a phrase to search the web. If you are reading an article and want to quickly search for an unfamiliar term, or if you are curious what others have written about a subject, Opera can query search engines based on text you highlight.
To search the web for text you find on a page:

Opera is a popular, free web browser that’s available for Windows, macOS, and Linux computers as well as mobile devices. Like many web browsers, Opera supports web searches from the address bar. So, any search term you type into the address bar feeds into the search engine of your choice.
Opera relies on Google by default. Still, it’s easy to select another search provider or add a new one. Opera’s unique keyword system lets you use a custom search engine for a query without changing the default search engine.
To take advantage of all Opera’s features and capabilities, make sure you’re using the latest version of Opera.
How to Change Opera’s Default Search Engine
If you’d rather default to another of Opera’s available search engines, it’s easy to make the switch.
Open the Opera web browser.
Select Opera > Preferences on a Mac, or Opera > Options on a Windows PC.
For quicker access, use the Settings shortcut. Enter opera://settings in the search bar.
Under Search engine, select the drop-down menu and choose Google Search, Yahoo!, DuckDuckGo, Amazon, Bing, or Wikipedia.
You’ve set your new default search engine in Opera. Now, when you enter a search term in the address bar, Opera defaults to using this search engine. (In this example, it’s DuckDuckGo.)
Use Custom Search Engines in Opera With Keywords
A keyword is a letter or short word that serves as a search engine’s nickname. If you’d like to use another search engine for a specific search, here’s how to access it with its keyword.
Open the Opera web browser and Select Opera > Preferences on a Mac, or Opera > Options on a Windows PC.
Select Manage search engines.
Note the keywords for the installed search engines, including any you added.
Exit settings and open an Opera tab.
In this example, we’ll do a search on Amazon using its z keyword. Type z shoes in the search bar and press Enter or Return.
Your custom search goes directly to shoe listings in Amazon.
How to Add a New Search Engine to Opera in Settings
If you want to use a search engine that Opera doesn’t offer, it’s easy to add it to your options. In this example, we’ll add the Spanish-language version of Wikipedia.
After you add a new search engine, use its keyword for custom searches.
Open the Opera web browser.
Select Opera > Preferences on a Mac, or Opera > Options on a Windows PC.
For quicker access, try the Settings shortcut. Enter opera://settings in the search bar.
Select Manage search engines.
Select Add.
Enter a name for the search engine, a keyword, and the URL, and then select Add.
When you enter the URL, enter only the static part of the address. At the end, add a /%s to represent the search query. In this example, we entered the URL as es.wikipedia.org/wiki/%s.
You’ve added the new search engine to Opera’s list, and you can now use it in custom search queries.
How to Use the New Search Engine
To use the newly added search engine via its keyword:
Open the Opera web browser.
In the address bar, enter your search engine’s keyword, followed by a search term. In this example, we use the keyword s to open a query in the Spanish version of Wikipedia. Type s Mexico.
Your search term opens in the designated search engine. In this example, it’s the Spanish-language version of Wikipedia.
