Okay guys im here with manaz and in this video were gonna be showing you guys how to draw a. 3d areola a lot of people have been messaging us because she does great paramedical work how to draw 3d. Areola so were going to show you in this video she doesnt like the camera she said it it makes. Us look ugly okay so to start off with step one we got a circle ruler and we got that.

At the local art store down the street so nothing nothing too fancy um but which which size were going. To use usually i use this size here right here because its the normal size yeah okay basically and for. The nipple i use one of those its up to the client which one they like sometimes they want a. Little bit bigger sometimes they want a little bit smaller its up to them basically you want to get a. Blank paper you want to get a ruler and youre going to need this this is a circle ruler super.

Important you can get it at any art store or anywhere but when youre doing paramedical work you need one. Of these so very important but basically you want to get your ruler and then how long is the line. That they should draw um im going to make it the bigger area law for now to they can see. The details and everything but usually i use them like a smaller size but today im gonna use this just. For the demo were gonna use a big areola yes makes it look nicer im gonna make a straight line.

And divide it to half okay for example if its start from zero but im not gonna be put the. Line its just all dot dot dot like a small dot here you know a little bit hard to see. Okay i stop here and then im gonna use the half of this one its gonna be 3.75 inch right. Here im going to do another line exactly right here so basically youre trying to draw like the four four. Different sections right we have point in the center now we can make easily four sections i put exactly in.

The center right here im gonna do dots small dots just to see the frame because im gonna blend it. To drawing i dont wanna see solid line here so this is like the frame of the area yes now. Were going to choose the nipple size in the middle so how big is a nipple size compared to the. The actual circle i think im going to use this one because i dont want to make it bigger nipple. This one im going to put in exactly in the center right here the dots supposed to be in the.

Center of the circle and im gonna do this right now i can do line is no problem we can. Do the line right here and easy to see perfect so this is the frame of the areola so thats. The border and then thats the nipple in the middle now we have four section were gonna move on and. Start two for the first section and then is move to the other one okay these are some areolas that. Manaz was drawing earlier and you see the little halo on the outside thats what were going to draw right.

Now on our ariel okay so now that we finished the border looks like this you guys can see the. Whole frame right here now shes gonna start on filling in the inside right yes were gonna have some halo. Around the nipple and start from here im gonna first finish this section and then this one this one that. One now we have a sharp line here for the nipple i have to blend it and i have to. Put the shadow right here im gonna im gonna make it looks like a 3d shadow it here move now.

I try to blend it and make it more like a shadow and like it looks like its 3d to. Make more natural im going to use the y right here in the middle this is make more natural looking. And then you guys can like just dot dot dot like your vibration technique to make it full right here. To make it like a natural way im gonna make the bottom part its a little bit darker ill put. A little bit more dot and a little bit shading too im going to make that part make a little.

Bit lighter before theyre just for the shadow to make it like 3d looking but right here is going to. Be dark now im going to use like a few months month comedy class calm gunnery glass mount comedy class. Were having a hard time saying montgomery montgomery class montgomery yeah thats good okay were gonna add a few montgomery. Glands it makes it look much more natural you can use as a c an inside white or you can. Use as a circle and do you do it even do you do like one one one or you do.

It ready to use you have to use random and then im gonna add few line here to make it. More like a natural looking like the line like that you guys can see that it looks 3d like the. Nipples coming out right but in reality when you turn the paper you know its just flat but when you. Put it up it makes it look 3d which is super cool very nice yeah im going to add a. Little bit more details now were gonna start to to to add few wins twins its like theyre gonna okay.

Im gonna add few veins here too but its a small not like too much i know its hard to. See right here but with the color its easier to see it just view to make more natural okay this. Is the final uh practice black and white this is the step one practice so usually usually theres color right. Usually its color yeah but we start from black and white you guys know what were talking about you know. I dont add the hard line with the rulers because we dont want a hard line here thats why we.

Needed to fade it line here and we just get the nipple to see the 3d looking so thank you. Guys so much for watching the uh the video we did on the 3d areola hopefully you didnt learn something. Method 3 – Flat And Inverted Nipples! (Breastfeeding Solutions)

Hey everybody today i decided to do a video on flat or inverted nipples and how that affects breastfeeding um. Ive come across a lot of moms that struggle with flatter inverted nipples and getting baby to latch and even. Myself like i dont have those perfect you know nipples that a baby is easily stimulated by uh one of. Mine is kind of flatter and so um i facebook this is educational it is not sexual to all the.

Okay all right so first of all theres different kinds of flatter inverted nipples first theres just flat um and. They arent like you know like they dont protrude very far and then theres pseudo-inverted so they look like theyre. Inverted but as soon as you provide some stimulation they come out um and then theres retracted nipples so um. When you go to latch baby or provide any sort of stimulation they actually retract even further um and then. Theres true inverted so if you want to know whether or not you have truly inverted nipples um you could.

Grab behind the areola here and press back and pull forward and it should it should come out and so. If it does with you providing a little bit of pressure like this then you dont actually have truly inverted. Nipples if your nipple stays completely inverted even with this this pressure then you most likely do and then some. Women have an inverted nipple on one side and not the other um and i think its important to talk. About how you know its not nipple feeding it is breastfeeding and so babies dont latch onto the nipple they.

Latch on to the breast tissue right and this is what because you want the nipple all the way back. In their mouth near their soft palate um you dont want them nipple feeding however babies like the feeling of. A nipple and thats what causes them to ah open wide and latch on and they like that stimulation in. Their mouth along their palate of the nipple and thats what you know entices them to start breastfeeding and drawing. In that breast tissue so some mothers do struggle when they dont have that protruding nipple to stimulate their baby.

Okay so it can be an issue for some moms and im gonna give you some solutions so the first. One is a breast shell so you can buy them on amazon um different companies make them and it comes. In like two parts so it goes inside your bra i dont have one to show you because i didnt. Ever need to use one um but it goes inside your bra and then theres a piece inside of it. With a hole where your nipple goes through and what it does is as you wear it throughout the day.

And this is prior to your baby being born it provides a little bit of pressure around the areola and. Breaking down any um tissue that are are holding in the nipple thats inverted or flat okay so the evidence. To support whether or not it its super beneficial isnt um isnt 100 yay or nay um and experts kind. Of some people suggest doing this before your baby comes and some say its not necessary so this is just. An option something to look into if if it interests you and um theres no harm in doing it but.

To say for sure whether or not by the time your baby comes if you do wear the brush shell. Would it make a huge difference im not sure um but that is an option okay so then the next. Option is once your baby does come is before you latch your baby you could pump so you could just. Use any pump that you have this is my electronic pump um and uh so thats thats one way another. Way is the hakka and this provides a little bit of suction so im going to show you how to.

Do this so now this is when my boob comes out told you perverts here you go so you can. See that my nipple is kind of on the flatter side okay so when you put this on you do. This first squeeze apply let this go back on and itll draw it out and you can get rid of. More suction if you want okay so you can see its being drawn out there so thats one way okay. Um the next is a plunger so this is a 60 ml syringe that i got at the drugstore dont.

Mind how awful it looks this is just for educational purposes ive had this for a really long time is. I cut the end off and clearly you can see i didnt do a great job but you could just. Get like a box cutter or get someone to help you you cut the end off because this plunger was. In in it this way right so i cut the end off and then i put the plunger back in. This way does that make sense to everyone so this is just my homemade version ill attach some links of.

Some nipple aspirators that you can buy online um theres some that look a little more intricate and then theres. Some that just look like a like essentially like a bulb suction kind of like kind of like this with. Some suction but its made specifically just for the nipple okay so im gonna show you up close put this. On here and im gonna draw it out and you can see its being drawn in there thats about as. Much as i can handle to be honest um so dont go dont cause yourself pain um but youre gonna.

Hold this for a couple of minutes oh forrest im doing a video love can you go can i have. A snack yes you can have a snack okay so youre gonna hold this for a couple of minutes before. Your baby latches and because im not gonna sit here doing this for a few minutes im gonna stop now. But you can see how it did actually pull my nipple out a bit okay so that is one option. Okay so the next thing you try is nipple simulation i talked about this when i was talking about the.

Different kinds of inverted nipples so what you can do is press back like this and if anyones seen my. Colostrum expression video you could do something similar to that so you press back near the areola press back pull. Forward oops okay um and you could even get a cold cloth because cold typically helps your nipples become more. Erect also i dont mind my sunburn um okay so that is nipple stimulation another option is when your baby. Latches so sometimes making a sandwich like this for them to latch onto this tissue uh helps them and it.

Creates a little bit of like a a nipple shape for them to latch onto and feel that stimulation you. Can also hold back on the tissue so if if you had very very flat inverted nipples and you held. It back like this and it came out you could hold it like this while your baby latches but just. Remember dont hold really close because you want your baby to latch on to all of this not just this. Okay so hold back like this so you can even see it when i pull it back see how it.

Creates more of a more of a nipple okay so thats another option um sometimes when we are in the. Hospital or not in the hospital if you end up having a lot of fluid retention or youre given a. Lot of fluids during labor or after labor it kind of goes all over so you get swelling in your. Feet you got swelling everywhere including your breasts and sometimes a really swollen breast makes your nipple super flat even. If you didnt have normally a flat nipple and so sometimes that makes it really difficult for the baby to.

Latch and even engorgement if your milk comes in and your boobs just become very full of milk and that. Nipple just disappears because its just so full then you could do something called reverse pressure softening okay so reverse. Pressure softening all you have to do is create a circle with your fingers youre going to go around your. Areola like this youre just going to press in like this and hold this for one to three minutes thats. All you do so all youre doing is youre pushing away that edema that fluid away from the area that.

You want to be softer okay so you would just hold it like this and then release okay um and. Then the last option is a nipple shield its kind of bright you cant really see that so this is. A nipple shield actually uh well do a whole another video on nipple shields because i feel like it deserves. Its entire own video because sometimes nipple shields are awesome um and then other times they can theyre great in. The beginning but then theyre hard to wean off of and you end up with lack of supply or theres.

Different issues because i kind of see these as like a band-aid i used these with two of my children. And and i wouldnt have been able to breastfeed at all if i didnt have them um but i did. Wean off of them and um going through that process can be difficult for some families so its important that. You reach out for help okay and understand that this is just a temporary solution its not something thats meant. To be used for like an entire year if youre going to breastfeed that long okay so ill do another.

Video separately on how to apply nipple shields and well talk a little bit more about nipple shields but this. Is also another great option for those moms and when you do go to use the nipple shield if you. Want it just to draw out your nipple what you could do is put it on latch your baby let. Your baby feed for a bit and then quickly do the swap where you just take it off your nipple. Is already inverted latch baby again and there you go okay so all this being said i talked about in.

The beginning of this video that theres more to um more to any of this than just these things that. Im giving you these tips and tricks your baby needs to have an effective latch they need to have a. Good suck to be able to draw that nipple out and keep it extended um so its important that you. Reach out for help and support early on and if you know that you have flat nipples try not to. Get discouraged before your baby comes because you may not have any issues at all but it might be a.

Good idea for you to reach out for help prior to your baby coming so that you have someone there. Right away to help you okay um so if anyone has any questions or if you have any comments if. Lets draw a little cross in show really face is its pretty nice and ill just pop in here but. This anime characters gonna have some eyes but yeah somewhere like that and ill turn it into a true cactus. And ill light a stage dont you worry at all and its all about getting a framework in so we. Can very quickly start talking about village right just as simple as that i hope you guys also did it. Quick lets talk about a large boob which is going to be and kind of kept together under some sort.

Of support but not quite brass were gonna go maybe like the key or micro bikini and hopefully get an. Idea of how we draw in so youve got your chest and you need to work out how are you. Going to start this kind of boob drawing process first things first guys where ive got these cheeky little shoulder. Circles in here and here i like to draw an imaginary line um where at the bottom of them and. Make it span across the chest then if you need to help with your guidelines id like to go from.

The center of a chest and follow the front of the chest down so a line that goes from the. Chest and effectively goes all the way down through the center of the tummy as well this helps me get. A really good idea of a curve and placement good were working with large boobs and they have a certain. Amount of hang to them they have weight and remember a kind of good large natural boob its gonna be. A really soft thing its gonna hang as if its like a bag full of liquid whoa kind of pretty.

Much footage like fatty bag but a lovely one philip mammary stuff and its not gonna be like rock solid. Its not gonna be a solid circle hang in there because thats what a fake boob is like and maybe. Well do a fake boob tutorial in a future but were gonna do and hopefully real looking ones for now. At least now that means they have a hanging nature to them so i like to start up from around. About the shoulder and it helps im especially of large wants to do an imaginary teardrop shape so if you.

Imagine four circles with the boobs would be perhaps in this zone were gonna go even bigger dont worry so. Im gonna imagine a kind of teardrop guideline all the way down all the way up and all the way. Around and its gonna start to tuck back in or close up the circle in a circular shape i should. Say when it hits this guideline here this shelf so get in the comments and tell me just because ive. Had a load of really sweet dessert i think i want a massive sugar so if im talking too fast.

Let me know in the car below so youll notice here ive used for as a guide down this edge. Because its arms up its got this hanging pool and it actually follows this curve up to the muscle of. The shoulder to kind of give you an idea of how its kind of weighted um the reason why instead. Of going all the way down into a much more of a droop for what is quite a large boob. But it actually comes back up is because im drawing this rifts and support so theres going to be some.

Force but its gonna be some kind of cover here that helps kind of keep it in place were gonna. Be doing the same over here as well its gonna be something to keep these boobs up so rub that. Out a minute in fact so on this side here as well im starting up around the armpit area this. Kind of shoulder joint and bearing in mind but ive got quite a lot of massive boob here if i. Give myself a little guide line thats parallel to this one here then i know that the next boob is.

Gonna fall from somewhere about here on the chest inver kind of hanging point of the teardrop shape and its. Gonna come out round about here and also its gonna be curving out from under here around about yeah lovely. Excellent and if i kind of just map this out with a cross on top itll give you an idea. Of it in this particular example weve got four nipples probably going to land somewhere about there where the x. Marks the spot and on this one here its gonna be somewhere about here and the waiver im helping to.

Kind of decide where the nipples are on a boob is fit im imagining from the back of a chest. Right round about here where the spine if you imagine comes all the way down through the character its from. There but the nipples kind of point out with direction so a nipple would naturally kind of come out here. And otherwise come kind of around here so kind of pointing straight towards us fun drawing too many arrows its. Only because this is a topic thats so goddamn close to my heart my goodness gracious and how some of.

You guys mentioned in the other tutorial vote and it kind of sounded like i was slamming down with really. Small chest i might have said something like um a and b size boobs are just you know really small. Ones or something like that dont get me wrong like yes there are sexy fitting a and b cup boobs. In real life are plenty and having like a really slim small group deflecting frame dont worry girls like me. Sexy too its just four in this example were really just stepping things up a notch thats all so weve.

Got this rough kind of boob topia shape and youll notice fit it looks like this is kind of squidging. A bit and that is because im trying to show that these two boobs are pressing together so on the. Smaller boobs you toriel its all about how you use your different lines that define or show the shape of. Them whereas when it comes to large boobs tutorials you actually have to really work out their mass and their. Weights and how theyre being kind of pushed around and kind of pressed so because ive gone on under here.

Don’t upload images, videos, or GIFs that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples — this includes content that is so photorealistic that it could be mistaken for featuring real-life humans (nice try, though). Certain types of artistic, educational, newsworthy, or political content featuring nudity are fine

It’s hard to say whether Tumblr’s censoring bots are yet to scan this tutorial or have already given it a green signal. But one thing is for sure that among all the ongoing mess currently on Tumblr, wherein even floppy disk photos have been flagged, this comes as a pleasant surprise.

What does ‘female-presenting nipples’ even mean?

This has been a big question ever since Tumblr used the term in their official announcement and subsequently in their new community guidelines. Tumblr has even faced a sort of backlash over the term.

I never have understood why guys can go shirtless but women can’t. The only reason i can assume is that men made rhose laws cause they can’t handle seeing womens breasts without getting turned on. Think Pence and Mother, right?

“Female presenting nipples” has me confused. Is it nipples of female presenters, are the nipples the presenters in some weird puppet show or are we just talking getting banned because it’s cold in the room?

If you remember, we published our analysis on this sometime back. Basically, we were able to spot something which we feel could be a potential reason why Tumblr went for such a term.

Leaving aside the debate on why the ban is only on female nipples and not male nipples, the bone of contention here is the use of the word ‘presenting’. A Twitter user shed some light on the matter by saying:

i definitely feel like they added “presenting” following @raindovemodel going head to head with Instagram over gender identity

To which Rain Dove (whose Twitter bio describes them as Gender Capitalist- in fashion, film and activism) replied in affirmative.

To give you some context, earlier this year, after Instagram – which doesn’t allow photos of female nipples – removed a topless photo Rain Dove shared through their account, the activist called out the company for breaching the user agreement saying they are not female.

Following which, when Rain re-shared the same photo and it was reported to Instagram again, the company refused to take action saying it does not violate Instagram’s community guidelines.

it sounds like you are trying to model the thread. you would not normally do that unless you need to, like for 3d printing, other wise just create some sort of visualisation to represent the thread. FreeCAD doesn’t yet have an infrastructure/tools to handle threads properly, I mean other than actually modelling a thread.

If you do decide that you need to model the thread for some reason then the path for a Part Sweep can be described with a Part Workbench Helix.

How to Draw Animals: Snakes and Their Patterns

Snakes are one of the most-drawn animals, if not the most drawn animal. They’re considered to be very simple, with no legs or special muscles that need to be defined. There’s only a head (without ears!) and a long tail—what can go wrong?

So, welcome to the perfect start into the world of animal drawing: a guide to drawing snakes! I’ll show you how to draw both venomous and harmless snakes, and how to draw their scales and patterns realistically. We won’t focus only on one species, but rather will look at the techniques you need to draw any part of any type of snake. Aafter going through this tutorial, you should be able to draw most varieties of snakes almost effortlessly.

1. Snake Bodies

Basic Anatomy

Let’s start with some basics about snakes’ anatomy. We tend to see think of snakes as made mostly of a long tail, but the truth is, the majority of a snake’s body is actually a long chest.

The outwardly harmless belief that a snake body is mostly made of a tail leads to entirely incorrect drawings of snakes. Even as one of the simplest animals, snake drawings still suffer from a too-cursory knowledge about their makeup. Instead of seeing them as a constantly tapered tail, it’s better to imagine them as a string of beads—which confirms closer to the curved rib shape that actually makes up the snake’s body. «Neck» beads are a bit narrower than «chest» ones», and then they get smaller and smaller, but not very rapidly. In contrast, if you think of a snake as just a long tail, you’ll likely sharply taper its entire length.

The length and width of the «neck» and «chest» segments depend on the species. Some will have no neck at all, while others are so slender the chest will not be noticeable. If you’re drawing a snake without focusing on the species, you can experiment here. Remember—snakes don’t need to be always perfectly slender, and sometimes they look fat and clumsy!

The «string of beads» method is very useful in creating 3D poses. If you have problems with imagining the sides, you can use cubes instead of balls.

You can make the 3D very easy to draw by adding more circles between those building the pose. This way you’ll get a sense of volume, and the sides will be easier to define.

What about snake’s famous hoods, often seen in cobras? They’re actually a snake’s body, flattened by straightened ribs. That means the hood’s width is dependent on the normal width of the body, and it can’t be as wide as you may like it to be.

To create a believable pose, we need to know how snakes move.

2. How to Draw a Snake’s Head

Shape

Step 1

I’m going to show you three views of the snake’s head at the same time: side (1), front (2) and top (3). This way, you’ll be able to easily compare them to understand this form in 3D.

Start with a flattened ball. In addition to the center line, there should also be a line placed at one third of the diameter.

We next need to define the jaws and cheeks. The arrows in the diagram below show you the flow of this shape.

Add another, bigger ball behind the main one. This way, we’ll elongate the skull properly.

How much larger should this second ball be? Generally, venomous snakes have more triangular heads, with a clear neck endpoint, so you’ll want a much larger second ball. Nonvenomous snakes typically have narrower heads so the second ball only needs to be a bit wider.

Step 4

You can now easily outline the contours.

The eyes are placed close to the narrower tip of the skull.

Step 6

Now, smile! The snake’s smile—or mouth, rather—should be wide and well defined. Add small nose holes appropriately as well.

With all the guide lines, you can easily sketch the rest contours. Don’t forget about a small hole between the lips that lets the tongue slip out without opening the mouth!

If you’re adding a bottom view to your snake, use the top view circles to create the bottom one, and just forget about the eyes and nose.

Scales

If simply redrawing the scales at random doesn’t satisfy you and you want to remember rules about their placement, here’s a few tips. Keep in mind that not all snakes are the same, and their scales may vary as well. What I’m showing you is a general pattern, especially common for nonvenomous species.

Step 1

Let’s start with the mainly vertical lines. There’s one right under the eye, two on its sides, and three others near the nose. (Observe all the views to understand exactly what you’re drawing, so you’ll remember it more easily).

Now, let’s go horizontal. Draw a line from the nose to the eye, then split it into four new ones. The front of the head needs some little tweaks too.

If you don’t want to learn all these arrows by heart, here’s a colorful scheme for you. Once again, keep in mind that every snake is different and you can modify these shapes accordingly.

Step 6

Venomous snakes (and some nonvenomous snakes—pythons, in particular, have them very distinctively) can have heat-sensitive pits on their heads. You can treat them as big nose-holes made of scales. You can find them somewhere next to the nose, and in a row on the upper or lower lip (not necessarily everywhere at the same time, as shown below). They let the snake see the temperature (infrared light) to spot the warm body of its prey.

Venomous snakes have also smaller, tighter scales on their heads, similar to the ones on the rest of their body. They’re easier to draw, since they’re often quite chaotic. You can make the head less «smooth», with high nostrils and strong brows, to define the aggressive look of the snake.

Time for some details. Generally, venomous snakes have slit pupils, while nonvenomous snakes have round pupils. Their eyes themselves are round, but can look sharper thanks to a «brow» scale. Use it for an evil look!

Snake eyes come in unbelievably great set of colors. Basically anything you can imagine will look good on your made-up species, as long as you stick to the round shape and proper pupil.

Be creative with your snake eye colors

Snakes have the most interesting jaws construction of any animal (except perhaps for the moray eel). Let’s start slowly. First, the fangs (if present) need to be curved to inside, so that the snake doesn’t bite itself (snakes are not actually immune to their own venom!).

Secondly, there is a bone between the upper and lower jaw, loosely connected to both of them. It gives the jaws a tremendous range of motion. Snakes with long and strongly curved fangs (like vipers) may be able to «retract» them—bend the tip of the mouth to point them straighter.

But that’s not all: each jaw is split in two (connected by an elastic ligament), and each can move independently. Now it’s obvious how snakes can swallow prey much larger than their head!

Let’s take a good look at a close-up of the head:

3. Scales and Patterns

Scales are where the simplicity of a snake ends. Now the brave artist must be patient and draw all the scales one by one, and then shade them the same way. No, I’m not going to show you some magic method to avoid the work—instead, I’ll show you how not to waste this time by ending up with a flat pattern.

Scales’ Structure

We already described and sketched the scale structure all around the head. Beyond that, quite regular and well-known scales occur in neat, orderly rows. The dorsal scales cover all the back and sides, while the remaining space is taken by ventral scales—wide, elongated plates covering all the belly, parallel along the body. They can be as wide as the body (covering whole belly’s width) or narrower. If they’re narrower, they may not be visible from the side.

Of course, there is a place where the belly ends and the tail starts. It’s defined by the anal plate (colloquially speaking, a snake’s butt). Here things go a bit different for a venomous (left) and nonvenomous (right) species:

Drawing the scales themselves isn’t very hard, and you have probably seen the mini-tutorial in the image below. Cross some lines, them draw the scales between them—we’ve all been there. The problem is, this trick gives us very flat laying scales, so we need to modify it.

Here’s the steps you need to make your scales contour to the snake’s body and appear more life-like.

Step 1

The trick is to bend the initial line a little, to an opposite direction at both halves. So, instead of drawing an oblique line, you just need to draw an elongated S (or integral symbol), and cross it with its mirrored reflection.

The other lines need to copy the bending. Simply repeat that shallow curved line pattern along the snake’s body.

Step 3

If you draw the scales on the mesh now, you’ll see they get smaller when closer to the edge, which gives them the receding look that a 3D snake body should have. That’s all!

However, this method becomes quite problematic when it comes to curves on the snake’s body. Here’s a workaround for this problem. It may look confusing at first, but try to draw it and you’ll see how it works:

Texture

Generally, there’s two distinct types of scales—smooth (1) and keeled (carinate, 2). Smooth scales are shiny (but not wet) and usually rounder than keeled ones, which have a rough look and are sharper.

Scales aren’t connected to each other, but to the skin only. Therefore, when the skin is stretched (3—when swallowing a big prey or even when moving), the scales move away from each other. Some less slender snakes may have the scales placed tightly on the head and neck (1), and down their body a bit of distance between them occurs (2).

Patterns

Once you got the problem with scales sorted out, you can add colors to your snake. The variations of patterns are limitless! While most animals are dull colored for camouflage’s sake, snakes proudly show their bodies to the world, announcing how dangerous they are—and that they’re not worth messing with. You can finally use saturated, bright colors without going away from realism.

Here’s the color patterns that work well.

Plain

This can be a base for a pattern or just a pattern on its own. Use any color you want for the whole body.

The variation of this pattern is to blend it softly with other colors. You can make the head darker, or the belly lighter, whatever you want.

Rings

Rings go around the body. They can be plain or multiply colored (stripes with borders).

Crossbands are a variation of rings. They go around the body too, but without crossing the belly.

Speckles

These are small patches of color on individual scales.

They run along the length the body, straight and regularly.

Blotches

These can be very irregular, of various sizes, placed randomly across the body.

Blotches give you even more room for variation.

Almost every pattern allows a variation of contrasting borders to be added to it.
