How to escape every Prison in Bitlife

Escaping prison in BitLife is actually kind of difficult, especially if you’re just starting out. The key to getting out is listed in the game:

The guard moves twice for every move you make! He will only make moves towards you and will try to walk horizontally first.

The most important part about that is that he will always try to walk horizontally first! So, we will need to use that to our advantage by blocking off the cop against walls in the prison. Even if the police officer is directly below you, and you move to the right or left, he will always move horizontally first.

That means if there’s a wall above him afterwards, he will not be able to reach you. If you’re wanting to complete these on your own, then this aspect is what you will be taking advantage of the most. If you are struggling with these, however, then keep reading because we have a cheat sheet for each of the map layouts and a video displaying how-to complete them!

The key to escaping all Prisons in Bitlife

To start, when you attempt to break out of prison, you will be getting one of the following layouts. These puzzles can sometimes be mirrored by them being flipped around horizontally or vertically. It will be the same layout, you’ll just need to follow the steps based on the one you’ve received. If you fail, you can always move ahead a year and try again!

Normal Prison Layouts

The first layout we’re looking at requires a bit of looping back on your path, but isn’t too hard.

This one isn’t too difficult, you just need to do one quick double back, and then a longer one as you get deeper into the map. Just don’t make a mad dash for the Exit, you won’t make it!

This is another pretty detailed one, you are going to need to do quite a bit of backtracking.

Probably the easiest layout to escape from. It’s very straightforward, and only requires eight steps to complete.

This one is pretty long, and you’ll be backtracking quite often. Make sure you do every one of the small backtracks listed on the map, or you won’t get the cop into the right place.

Tight quarters in this 5×5, and you’ll need to do a fair amount of going back and forth to complete this one.

This is an easy one! All you need to do is get the police officer into the little U shaped walls, and once you’ve done that you can breeze on through to the exit.

Pretty standard one, you’ll have to do some trekking across the jail a couple of times to get the cop where you want him. Once you’ve done that, you can stroll your way out of prison!

You’ll have to do kind of a big loop and then come back again to keep the officer off of you and to get to the exit.

Another one where you’re doing quite a bit of backtracking, especially in the bottom right corner where you’ll need to go back and forth to get the cop in the right place. Be patient and deliberate, and you should be able to get to the exit!

The smallest current layout, has you doing a bit of back and forth to escape. This one is pretty easy!

How to get all Bitlife Prison Ribbons

If you want to get both the Jailbird and Houdini Ribbons, you can do so by doing the following below.

Jailbird Ribbon

This one is pretty easy, you really just need to go in and out of prison about three or four times. Once you’ve done that, then just sit in your cell and age up until you croak! That should be all you need to do to earn the Jailbird Ribbon!

Houdini Ribbon

You’ll want to go to jail a bunch of times and escape immediately. You can level yourself up, not doing too much, and get to your 60s. Once you do that, start robbing houses and get caught. That will get you put in jail, and then you’ll want to escape using the guide below. Do this a couple times a year in your old age, and that should get you to the end and should get you the Houdini ribbon!

My escape game may be skewed or something bc the guard ALWAYS is only 2-4 boxes from the exit! 9/10 times I try to escape, the guard starts next to the exit and I’m caught on my 2nd move. I also lost count of how many times I had ONE move to freedom and of course the guard gets me, EVERY TIME

My guards are broken. They always go vertically and the whole 2 spaces when they have walls on both sides and catch me every single time. I don’t get it.

How to escape prison in a riot in BitLife

BitLife is full of randomness, which requires you to test your patience quite often. This is usually the case when it comes to certain tasks that you need to complete in challenges. These things are usually a bit easier than they seem, but they can be labeled in ways that aren’t always clear. If you’re attempting to escape prison during a riot in BitLife, then we’ll walk you through the process of doing it.

Escaping Prison During a Riot

To escape prison during a riot in BitLife, you will first need to start a riot. This can be done in the Prison menu, under the Riot option. You will then play a game of Snake, which tasks you to move around the room avoiding obstacles and picking up inmates. As you gather them, cops will start to appear and you will need to avoid them.

Your first riot will require you to gather a smaller amount of prisoners. Once you’ve gathered them all, the riot will start and you will get the results of the aftermath. Usually, many will be injured and some will die. You can only riot once per year, so if you fail in your riot, you should restart the application.

Escaping during the riot is completely random. It also appears that you might not be able to escape at the lower number totals of inmates that you gather. I tried 10 inmates many times and never escaped. I was finally successful once the amount reached 20!

If you haven’t done this before, you will earn yourself the Aftermath achievement. It is possible that you won’t escape at 20, but I have confirmed that at that amount you can escape. You might want to restart if you don’t escape, because gathering more than 20 inmates becomes pretty difficult to accomplish!

Prison

Prison

In BitLife, the player can go to Prison. This will happen if the player commits a crime. They will be fired from their job and their new title will be «Prisoner». On iOS in August 2019, the background is changed to a prison background and the character’s face will have a cage with bars over it. Characters can still get a prison job, but these are low-pay. There are also many more things to do in prison. The new activities were added in Android in February 2020.

Sentence

The sentence depends on the type and amount of crimes the player has committed. If the player goes to prison more than once, the sentence of the crime doubles each time. Years can be added on by assaulting a peace officer or (sometimes) a fellow inmate, inciting a riot, or being caught trying to escape.

As of August 8, 2019, iOS players now can receive a death sentence if their crime is severe enough. It is also possible to receive a false sentence. They can also have a life sentence in prison and can be put into either a minimum, medium, or maximum security prison. Committing higher crimes gets a higher security prison and bad behaviour in prison could move a character into a higher-level security prison.

In some countries, like Canada and Japan, it is also possible for your character to be falsely accused of a crime they did not commit.

Escaping

Each year, the player has an option to try escaping prison. The player will have to go through a minigame, which they can either quit immediately when the minigame starts. This will allow no consequences, but they can’t escape jail again that year. If the player tries to escape, they have to get past the guard and get to the exit. The guard moves twice for every one move the player makes. However, the guard always moves to the player in the same line the player is at. If trapped by walls, the guard will be unable to make moves where the wall blocks them.

If the player fails the minigame and the guard catches them (or if they surrender, an action available after making any move), they return back to prison but this time with a couple more years added to their sentence with the felony «Attempted escape».

If the player succeeds, they will gain back the freedom of going to the casino, seeking the doctor, and also get an achievement for escaping (if they have not gotten it yet). However, they may still be unable to adopt or find work in certain jobs because of their criminal record. Successfully escaping prison multiple times in one life gets the Houdini ribbon. Emigrating legally to another country while as an escaped convict will not track the crimes committed unless the character returns back to their original country. Trying to enlist into the military or choosing «Call the police» to any scenario that applies will automatically get them caught and sent back to prison. In the latest update, there have been new escape puzzles. Maximum-security prisons have much more complex escape routes while minimum-security prisons have simpler escape routes. There is a mix of new puzzles and existing puzzles in each level of security. A prisoner brought back after escaping will most likely be sent to a maximum-security prison. If the character is a juvenile and escapes juvenile hall, there is a chance that character’s parent(s) could send them back.

Riots

What the minigame looks like on screen.

The player is able to start a riot in jail. A successful riot will cause some people to be injured and/or dead. If they fail at starting a riot, they will be assaulted by the other prisoners, and risk getting charged if they bumped into a guard but still gain respect. Depending on the severity of the assault, the player loses health. If the player gets caught starting the riot, their sentence is increased. They may only riot once per year.

Rioting requires you to go through a minigame much like the classic Snake— using directional arrows, collect different prisoners (the required number is indicated at the top and increases each time you riot) while avoiding bumping into the walls, police officers, or even your chain of prisoners! After a set number of prisoners are recruited, officers will start appearing one by one on the screen. When you finish recruiting all the prisoners needed, they will all split up and attack the officers. The aftermath of a riot usually results in a some injuries and deaths, but on Android, your character might also have their sentence extended.

There is a very rare chance that your character will escape in a riot, If that happens, you gain an achievement!

Appeals

The player can try to send an appeal to one of three law firms. The player has to pay for the appeals to make this possible. If they fail, they can no longer send appeals that year. If they succeed, they will be found not guilty of their crimes and get released from jail. In some cases, they will remain in jail but will have a considerable number of years taken off of their sentence. The most expensive law firm is the best to pick as the chances of being found not guilty are high if you do so, though there is a chance that you will still lose the appeal.

Paroles

As of the 8/8/2019 update, if you have a long sentence and serve a considerable amount of years in it without escaping, you can be sent on parole board, and you’ll have to answer a question. If you answer the question correctly, you will be released early.

Players whose characters are in prison and have their notifications on may receive a notification where their character is being offered parole— much like the other events that work on notifications, if they open the app within an hour, they’ll also be prompted with a chance to be released early.

Interacting with Relationships

In nations that allow this, a character can set up a conjugal visit with their lover but to do so, the guards and the lover must agree before visiting. The visit is like a hook-up and the lover will not help escape from prison. The guards will not allow your character to ask for too many conjugal visits and will tell them to stop if they continue doing so too many times in a year.

Characters may also send and receive mail from family and lovers but could risk having it confiscated by the guards. Family members may send care packages and your character may accept and use the item, ignore, or return to sender. If the package is returned to sender, the relationship will lower. There is a chance the guards may confiscate your package and give you a beating (decreasing your health and happiness), no matter which option you choose.

BitLife: How To Escape Every Prison and Jail (UPDATED)

BitLife has a number of mini-games, but the original (and still the best, in our opinion) is the prison break game, in which you have to play a puzzle game to get out of prison. It used to be that getting out of prison via escape was purely a game of chance, and that the chances of getting out of prison were slim to none.

However, now that there is a minigame to get out of prison, you actually have a chance at determining your own fate. It’s you, the map of the prison, the prison guard who’s out to get you, and that’s it.

The prison map differs depending on whether you are in a minimum, medium, or maximum security prison. Minimum and medium security prisons have maps that are relatively easy to get through. Maximum security prisons range between hard and nearly impossible to escape from, with much, much larger maps and more twists and turns.

Your goal is to outmaneuver the prison guard so that you can get out, and then continue your life without having to throw it away by staying in prison. We have all of the maps and solutions collected, and we are constantly monitoring for updates so that we can add more of them.

How to get arrested and thrown into jail or prison:

First, before we talk about how to get out of prison, let’s talk about how to go to prison, or jail, because there are many ways that you can find yourself locked up.

These include responding in the dumbest way possible to pop-up situations, using the “crime” tab to commit one of many crimes, going AWOL from the military, and many others. There are also many choices of who to target in the Crime tab, like family, friends, or random people. Even if you are a famous celebrity or a social media star, going to prison can immediately end your career, but you can escape and get it going again.

There are multiple ribbons that require you to escape from prison in order to earn them.

How to escape from every prison in BitLife:

NOTE: All of the following maps apply to medium and minimum security prisons. Click here for a guide and videos for all of the maximum security prisons in BitLife.

3×4 Map

This Map is the 3×4 tiny prison break map. This is the easiest of the prison maps, so if this is the first one you got, count yourself lucky. Literally, all that you have to do to break out of this one is to trap the guard in the one possible place to trap him, as shown above.

5×7 Map

The next prison is the 5×7 or 7×5 level shown above.

This is one of the more wall-filled maps out there. The guard has three main corners to work through and one small corner separated from the main roads.

So your goal is to work around the guard and the walls, maneuver wisely so that the guard does not catch you, and then get to the exit before the guard hunts you down. It’s almost as easy to do as it sounds.

5×7 Second Map

This is easily one of the tougher levels that you’re going to have to deal with. You’re going to have to lure the guard almost all the way across the perimeter of the level, and then lure him back until you get him trapped in just the right way so that you can escape.

Remember that the guard will always make the horizontal move first, and if there is no horizontal move available, the guard won’t come after you. Then you will be able to slide past the guard and make it to the exit.

5×6 Map

This one is the 5×6 prison.

Unlike the first map, this one features only four walls total. That makes it so that the guard has a lot more space to move, but that also makes it so that you have a lot of space to move.

That means that, in addition to what you see in this video, there are a variety of other routes, and other methods of manipulating the guard, that can get you out of prison.

But to keep things simple, stick to the one that you see in this video and you will get out every time.

5×5 Map

Here we have the 5×5 prison.

This one is chock full of right angle walls and looks impossible at first because all that the guard has to do is not move, and he’ll get you every time.

But this video demonstrates how to trick the guard into getting out of the way.

Yes, there is no way that you can get out of this level just by relying on the guard to stay in the current position that they are in now.

But being that it’s fairly easy to trick the guard into doing whatever you want, this level is much easier to beat than you might think it is.

7×4 Map

Expand this to view the 7×4 or 4×7 prison.

This one shows a prison with only two U-shaped walls and nothing else in it. This makes it a little bit easier to escape from because you have a ton of space to work with.

This level is a good combination of two things: Like with the previous one stated above, you have a lot of space to work with in order to escape.

But unlike some of the easier levels, you can trap the guard easier due to having a few more walls.

6×5 Map

Expand this window to see a 6×5 prison level.

This one only has three L-shaped walls and two single walls, so there is a lot of space to work with, although not quite as much as the previous one. Still, more than easy enough to trick the guard.

Compared to other levels, this one has some more walls and different wall positions than others, which makes it arguably easier to beat because you have more places to hide. All that you have to do is shoot from the shadows to win this one.

6×6 Map

The 6×6 prison map gives a lot of room to work with. But there are also a ton of walls in here, so the guard has a lot of space to trap you. But this video walkthrough shows you how to trick the guard.

Essentially, you have to trick the guard into getting stuck behind one of the many walls on this level. Get them stuck and then play whatever side level you can think of that pops up next.

6×6 Second Map

Another version of the 6×6 map but with a different layout.

This one, as you can see, has a completely absurd number of walls. Basically, you have to get the guard to chase you all over the level until they follow you to the one square that is surrounded by three walls and one opening. And you have to be super careful not to get caught in the process.

Once you finally do trap the guard there, then you have to run all the way back across the path that you came from, in such a way as to keep the guard stuck behind the wall. Then only when you close in on the entrance should the guard escape from his little enclosure.

5×4 Map

This 5×4 map is almost as easy as the 3×4 map earlier in the article. Literally, all that you have to do with this one is to move straight out so that you can trap the guard behind the only wall that blocks his path to the exit.

Remember, the guard always wants to move horizontally first, and if the guard has no path to move to you horizontally, they won’t move at all. So take advantage of this to leave the guard marooned behind the wall and exit the map.

4×4 Map

The above is from a 4×4 prison map.

A map with a single right angle. The right angle just happens to be where the guard is. But you can fairly easily trick the guard by imitating this video.

3×5 Map

This 3×5 map is a nice and easy one. There is literally only one wall in the entire map. This may make it look tougher at first, compared to maps with more walls.

However, there is a simple solution. Just trick the guard into marooning himself behind the one wall, as shown in the video, and he’ll lose one step, and one step is all that you need.

4×4 Second Map

On the second 4×4 map, the guard seems to have the advantage, but take advantage of the horizontal aspect and the guard is easy to trap in the three-wall enclosure. Simply get them stuck there and you’ll easily be able to get out of prison and be free.

4×4 Third Map

More than any of the other 4×4 maps, this requires you to essentially lead the guard completely around the level in order to get them trapped. Luckily, though, considering the tiny floor space in this map, it doesn’t take long to trap the guard, so the back-and-forth goes by extremely quickly.

So how do you stay out of prison? Two easy ways to do so. Emigrating is one of them. If you get a record in one country, then you go and move to another country, then the record won’t follow you.

Getting a gender reassignment surgery is the other one, or at least it can be. Get that done and change your name as well, and all of a sudden the government doesn’t recognize the old version of you that has done so much time.

Also, these maps often appear flipped over, so if you see one that you don’t recognize from this post, then instead try turning your phone upside down to see if you recognize it that way.
