Based on the popularity of this post, I filmed a 2-hour, in-depth masterclass on making your voice deeper & more attractive. It has received tens of thousands of hits, and is now one of the top-rated courses on Skillshare. Watch it for free with this link (note — you also get 2 months of free access to all of my other content).

M ost men want their voice to be deeper. You probably do, too.

Why? Because a low, resounding voice is associated with strength, masculinity, and reliability. In fact, science has gone as far to show that women find men with deeper voices significantly more attractive than ones with higher voices.

The story doesn’t end at attraction, either. It also has to do with capability.

There’s a reason that the vast majority of famous and powerful men have low, resounding voices — people instinctively infer from their deep voices that these man are competent. That they possess power. This association helps them in their career and social lives, and lets them more easily maneuver themselves into places of high importance.

Clearly, it’s better to have a deep voice than to not. Which begs the question — how, exactly, do you make your voice deeper?

First, a warning: it’s not easy. Most of the tactics involved in deepening your voice take substantial time and conscious effort to implement. But, like anything else, so long as you’re consistent, dedicated, and you practice every day, eventually you too can have that deep, booming voice others long for.

So, without further ado, let’s get started! The following short guide will show you 5 science-backed ways to deepen your voice.

1. Do Daily Voice-Deepening Exercises

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

Artistotle once said “We are the sum of our habits”.

I once said “Your voice is the sum of your daily voice-deepening exercises”.

I know — I’m not quite as quotable — but it gets the point across.

In order to truly deepen your voice, you’ll need to commit to daily vocal exercises that stretch your ability to speak low. And it’s not easy. On average, it takes three to four weeks before you begin hearing any difference whatsoever.

But it does mean that if you stick with it for two months (I recommend my clients sixty days, minimum), your voice will be substantially lower than when you began.

Engage in the following two exercises once per day for two to three months for best results:

2. Try Diaphragmatic Breathing

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

Your diaphragm is a thin band of muscle that pulls your lungs down while you breathe in. It helps you take a deep breath.

The problem? Most people ignore their diaphragm entirely, and try breathing with the tiny muscles in their ribcage instead. This makes their voice sound weak, raspy, and high.

To take a deep, diaphragmatic breath, stand up straight. Put your hands on your belly. And try breathing in to your stomach instead of your chest. It won’t feel like anything at first, but you’re actually inhaling significantly more air than you are when you breathe with your relatively weak chest muscles.

Practice doing this every day. Over time (and I mean time — don’t expect to get this for two or three months) it will become your natural mode of breathing. Since you’ll now have more air with which to speak, you’ll be able to speak longer, stronger, and with less rasp on the low end of your vocal register. Less rasp means more of your true, deep voice will come out.

3. Change Where Your Voice Resonates

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

Most people resonate their voices in their nasal cavity. This gives their voice an unattractive, shrill sound. Some call it sounding “nerdy” — I call it sounding “nasally”.

Instead, resonate your voice in your chest. I linked a helpful tutorial below (watch this video and you’ll never sound nasally again — Patrick is that good):

4. Adjust Your Vocal Tonality For Depth

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

Have you ever noticed that some men, despite having relatively high voices, still manage to sound deep and authoritative? Why do you think that is?

I’ll give you a hint — it’s not about the words that they say. It’s about how they’re saying them.

This is kind of cheating, since it won’t lower your base vocal pitch. But it will provide the impression that you’re speaking with depth, which is almost the same thing.

If you want an in-depth guide on how to do this, I wrote about my vocal tonality secrets here.

For those of you that just want the cliffs notes, it goes like this:

5. Get Vocal Surgery

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

If you’ve tried everything and nothing else has worked, and you’re incredibly desperate to change the character of your voice, you can always elect for surgery.

I personally don’t recommend it, since it’s incredibly invasive, a little dangerous, and overall very expensive, but if you feel that this is what you need, go right ahead. Don’t let anyone’s judgement stop you from going for your goals.

I will say one thing — surgery works. Afterwards, your voice will be substantially deeper than before. And your wallet will probably be substantially lighter… but at least you’ll have a cool voice.

6. Celebrate

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

Congratulations! If you’ve diligently followed the advice above, and you’ve stuck to daily vocal exercises for at least two to three months, your voice is likely now 10% to 20% lower than it was when you started. That’s deep, playa.

Go chug a beer! Or go parasailing with a horde of beautiful women. Or maybe pull off that sick underwater weld you’ve been waiting for! Basically, go do whatever manly men do. Because now you sound like one of them.

How to Make Your Voice Sound Deeper

Think back to a time when you felt nervous–let’s say a presentation you gave or a recent job interview. Chances are, your voice sounded a bit higher in pitch during these moments, especially if you compare how it sounds when you’re in a casual conversation with a friend or family member. Any idea why our voice goes up in pitch when we’re nervous and down when we’re not? Don’t worry, we’ll get to that.

If you want to know how to make your voice sound deeper, you’re not alone. In this article, we’re going to dive into why some voices sound deeper or higher than others, tips to speak with a low pitch voice, and why a deeper voice is so appealing to begin with. Take a look! 👇

Why do people prefer a deeper voice?

First thing’s first, what’s so great about a deep voice anyway? Let us start by saying: Every voice is different and has its own unique qualities that make it awesome. But generally speaking, yes, it’s true that a deeper voice has a different impact on listeners than higher-pitched voices. And that’s because deep voices tend to make a person sound more confident and in control of a situation, while a higher-pitched voice is often linked to feeling nervous or less confident.

In a study done by the University of Stirling in 2017, the research confirmed that people change the pitch of their voice depending on the situation and who they’re talking to. Take a look at what Dr. Viktoria Mileva, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Stirling, said :

“A deep, masculine voice sounds dominant, especially in men, while the opposite is true of a higher-pitched voice. So, if someone perceives their interviewer to be more dominant than them, they raise their pitch. This may be a signal of submissiveness, to show the listener that you are not a threat, and to avoid possible confrontations.

These changes in our speech may be conscious or unconscious but voice characteristics appear to be an important way to communicate social status. We found both men and women alter their pitch in response to people they think are dominant and prestigious.”

Long story short: A deeper voice sounds more dominant and confident, while a higher voice sounds more submissive and nervous. That being said, it’s no wonder why many people might want their voice to sound deeper depending on the situation they’re in. But before we get into how you can make your voice sound deeper, we think it’s important to have a basic understanding of why our pitch sounds the way that it does. Take a look at what exactly voice pitch is and what determines a person’s pitch.

What determines the pitch of your voice?

To keep it short and sweet, voice pitch is how high or low someone’s voice sounds based on the sound waves. The longer, more detailed answer? Voice pitch is related to fluctuations in air pressure when air moves through our vocal tract. Our vocal cords and our larynx–plus the tongue, jaw, and lips–change and alter the vibration. The frequency of these vibrations caused by this movement of air through our vocal tract is ultimately where voice pitch comes from. The range of our pitch has to do with the size of the vocal cords, which are determined by the size of the larynx.

We could go on and on into more detail and the science of why voices are lower and higher than others. But we think you get the picture. So let’s get into the good stuff: How to get that low pitch voice.

How do I make my voice sound deeper?

Moral of the story: Voice pitch is largely determined by a person’s throat anatomy. That being said, there are still things that you can do to make your voice sound deeper. Whether you want to sound more confident when you speak or maybe you just don’t like the sound of your voice, don’t sweat it. Here are a few tips and tricks that can help you hit that lower pitch:

Embrace your natural voice!

We hope you find some of these tips helpful when trying to speak in a lower pitch. But remember friends, it’s important to take pride in your natural voice. We get it–a deeper voice can go a long way depending on the situation you find yourself in. But with a few vocal exercises and Voicemod’s awesome PowerPitch effects, you shouldn’t feel the need to mask your natural voice–only enhance the awesome characteristics you already have.

5 Tips to Help Make Your Voice Sound Deeper

A speech coach shares some of the techniques that can help you speak at a lower pitch.

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

Every guy has his own ideas about what it means to be a man. For some, it’s all about being confident in who you are. For others, it’s about, how they act and present themselves to the rest of the world. For instance, the first impression they make on the phone. And for many guys, their voice can be a source of insecurity if it’s not as deep or «manly» as they think it should be.

Does a deep voice really make you more of a man?

«A deep voice is commonly associated with manliness and being male and, until recently, the majority of marketing from a male perspective has relied on the depiction of the male voice as being deeper in pitch,» says Vinny Raval, a speech and language therapist, and director at The Speech Coach. «Accordingly, men wish to fit the ‘norm’ or the ‘stereotype’ and sound like men, with a higher pitched voice being mostly associated with being increasingly feminine.»

Of course, this stance relies on an internal logic that assumes it is «good» to be considered masculine, and that having a voice which is interpreted to be feminine—or, by extension, gay—is an inherently negative thing. This attitude persists, even in our supposedly progressive society.

The 2014 documentary Do I Sound Gay? explored the degrees to which a higher-pitched or so-called effeminate voice can have on a man’s perception of his own masculinity, and highlighted that even out-and-proud gay and bisexual men can struggle with this. This is sometimes due to internalized homophobia or misogyny («femme» = «bad») which is fueled by the media and information about gender roles we grow up consuming.

«Due to societal stereotypes, men feel like men when they speak with a deeper voice,» says Raval. «A deeper voice is also associated with control and sincerity, again aspects that one associates in a biased manner with male characteristics.»

There is, of course, another reason why a man might want to change the way he speaks: studies have shown that women tend to be more attracted to men with deeper voices (quite possibly for the same outdated-but-prevailing reasons).

What can I do to make my voice deeper?

While it is impossible to permanently change your voice without medical intervention, there are a range of exercises that men can practice in order to speak with a deeper pitch, although their implementation is dependent on the individual and their specific goals. Raval advises that anyone looking to recalibrate their tone or vocal register should first seek the guidance of a speech therapist or voice coach, in order to avoid accidentally damaging the vocal folds.

Diaphragmatic breathing.

It’s possible that the way you usually breathe is having an impact on the way your voice sounds. Try inhaling deeply through your nose, bringing the air all the way in and as far down as possible; then, while exhaling slowly, say something. You should feel a vibration as you speak. This technique—popular among singers and actors—might be able to help you control the pitch of your voice.

Blowing bubbles.

We’ve all, at some point, idly blown bubbles through a straw into a soda or milkshake. Turns out, this is a widely used «reset» for the voice. According to the National Center for Voice and Speech, the straw technique stretches and relaxes the vocal cords. It can help make your voice stronger, and make it less likely to go hoarse or raspy.

Yawning and sighing.

Speaking in a breathier, aspirated way, as if through a sigh, can help to bring down the pitch of your voice. After a long yawn, you can use the voiced sigh to go down through the scales to a lower tone. An advantage here is that husky, breathy voices are considered among the sexiest in men.

Humming.

When you hum, you’re warming up your voice, which can give you a greater level of control over it. Try taking a deep breath and then hum for as long as possible, once again going down the scales to find a lower tone.

Inflection.

There are three kinds of inflection; upward, neutral, and downward. Neutral inflection results in a robotic, monotonous way of speaking, while upward inflection can make every sentence sound like a question. Aiming for downward inflection, on the other hand, can make your voice sound deeper as you’re ending the sentence at a lower pitch.

Start by saying this phrase out loud, “How low can you go?” Then, repeat the phrase several times. Each time, say it in a lower tone.

What Makes Your Voice Sound Deep?

The deepness of your voice is a part naturally occurring and a part of learned behavior. Everyone has a physical structure that gives them a vocal range. A person’s vocal range is the lowest note that a person can sing to how high they can sing.

If they mostly can sing low notes, they are a bass singer.

The next higher range is a baritone.

Just a bit higher is the tenor range.

If they can sing even higher, that is called the alto range.

Next is the mezzo-soprano range.

Higher still is the soprano range.

If a person can sing the really high notes above the soprano range, that is in the falsetto range.

1. Human Anatomy

The anatomy of the human voice comes from three systems of air pressure, vibration, and resonance.

The air pressure system involves the diaphragm, ribs, abdominal muscles, muscles in the chest, and the lungs.

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

The vibration system involves the voice box (also called the larynx) and the vocal cords (also called vocal folds).

The resonance system involves the vocal tract, including the throat (also called the pharynx), the oral cavity, and the nasal passages.

2. Genetics That Influence the Voice

Scientists are not certain how much genetics influences the human voice, but they do believe it plays a role in why some have a deeper voice than others. Certainly, genetics play a role in the gender of a person, the structure of the vocal cords, and the development of the larynx.

3. Hormones and Testosterone

The larynx has receptors for hormones produced by the thyroid. These hormones play an important function in how the larynx develops and why some have a deep voice.

Testosterone causes the vocal cords to thicken. This thickness produces a deeper, lower pitch for the voice. When an adolescent boy experiences puberty, his voice will start to “crack.’ This means his vocal pitch will shift. As his body accommodates the changes brought about by testosterone, he may sound funny when talking or singing.

The female hormone estrogen does not have any effect on the voice. It cannot make the vocal cords shorter or thinner.

4. Vocal Cords and Diaphragm

The thickness of the vocal cords determines the voice’s pitch. Therefore, a person with thicker vocal cords will have a deeper voice.

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

The diaphragm is essential for singing. A flat diaphragm gives a person better control over their air supply that passes from the lungs over the vocal cords. To be a good singer, you need to have the support of a strong airstream coming from the diaphragm.

5. Age, Gender, Body Type, and Size

Teenagers go through a phase that changes their voice during puberty. This process is more dramatic in boys than in girls. As adults get older, their voices may weaken as they become elderly.

A male has Adam’s apple on his neck, whereas a female does not. Males with a lot of testosterone will have deeper voices than females with less testosterone.

The entire body acts in coordination when a person sings. Height, weight, and size call all affect how your voice sounds. Usually, a taller person has longer vocal cords, which causes them to have a deeper voice.

Types of Voices

Every person has more than one voice. They have at least a head voice and a lower-sounding chest voice to use for singing or speaking.

We may have a speaking voice and a singing voice. They can be quite different. For example, a person may stutter when speaking and not have any problem when singing.

Head Voice

The head voice is responsible for making semi-high notes that are not strained or falsetto. When singing or speaking using the head voice, the sound vibrations are experienced in the head area. As a result, the voice and singing are higher than when using the chest voice. When using the head voice properly, the voice or signing comes out softly with no strain.

Chest Voice

The chest voice has a range of notes that are below the range of the head voice. When using the chest voice, you can place a hand on your chest and feel the vibration. In addition, the chest voice offers lower and warmer-sounding tones.

Mixed Voice

Most people use both their head voice and chest voice, often interchangeably, switching back and forth between them.

5 Ways to Make Your Voice Deeper for Recordings or Live Podcasts

The five ways to get a deeper voice for both recording and in real life include 1) using the right microphone and equipment; 2) software, plug-ins, and mobile apps; 3) vocal exercise techniques; 4) proper hydration and; 5) working with a vocal coach.

Ready? How low can you go? Let’s find out.

1. Microphones and Equipment

Choosing the best mic that delivers the vocal quality you are seeking along with the equipment like an EQ and software needed to modify your voice.

Types of Microphones

Getting a mic that records your voice sounding terrific is a valuable thing to do because if you are making a recording and you don’t like the sound of your voice, you will be unhappy with the process.

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

Your choice of microphone depends on the setting where it will be used. For example, in a circumstance where you are trying to record your voice, and there is a lot of background noise, you would want to use a condenser mic with a tight cardioid pickup pattern. However, this type of mic only picks up what is spoken or sung directly into the mic from near it.

There are many technical aspects of mics to consider. For more detailed information about microphones, read the reviews of the quality microphones for home recording studio use here.

Equipment

Designing a home studio for recording a voice well also includes getting the room set up properly with acoustic treatment, soundproofing if necessary, and having the proper equipment capture the vocals and process them. The processing includes turn an analog signal into a digital signal, applying filters, and adding EQ.

Get some insights about equipment from the forum discussion on the Reddit account for the live streamers on Twitch.

Pop Filters and Windscreens

Pop filters are used to get rid of plosives. Plosives are caused by a rush of air that hits the mic at high speed. They come from saying words that start with “P” or “B” and some other letters.

How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть фото How to make your voice deeper. Смотреть картинку How to make your voice deeper. Картинка про How to make your voice deeper. Фото How to make your voice deeper

There are mic covers/windscreens, which can be used in windy environments to reduce the sound of wind noise.

Proximity Effect

The proximity effect happens when putting a mic very close to the sound source. To cause this phenomenon, speak directly into a mic with your lips almost touching the mic head. Many mics will add some bass to the voice that comes from the interference of the sound waves when a vocalist is in such proximity to the mic. Whether this is desirable or not depends on your choice.

I found some interesting tips on the Quora discussion about mic choices and the proximity effect.

Mic Positioning

Using a mic properly is the best way to improve your vocal sound and create a deeper voice. Speak or sing directly into the mic. If the mic has its own gain control, adjust the gain up or down until you find the best sounding voice. Be sure to adjust the input signal that comes from the mic and either goes to your computer or audio interface.

2. Software, Plugins, and Mobile Apps

There are software solutions, plugins, and downloadable apps to lower your recorded voice’s tone.

Software

The category of voice-changing software has tools that you can use to change your voice slightly or very dramatically into something funny like a robot’s voice or an alien. These tools can also be used to lower the tone of your voice to give it a fuller bass sound.

Here is the list of the top-five, voice-changing software that will help you get a deeper voice:

Plugins

Music Tech gives a nice overview of the free plug-ins that can be used with various audio editing software platforms.

Here are the top five:

Mobile Apps

The mobile apps available to change your voice include Voicemod (Windows, Android, and iOS), Voice Changer (Android), and Best Voice Changer (Android).

You can get them at either Google Play for Android devices or at the Apple App store for iOS devices.

3. Vocal Techniques

Using vocal techniques, you can train your voice to be lower.

Vocal Training

Working with a professional vocal coach can help you lower your voice. This video, produced by Howcast, explains many useful techniques for making your voice sound deeper.

I tried all these techniques and found them to be very useful.

Pacing

Learning to pace your voice gives you more control. Pacing allows silence in-between words to spread out the words and gives you time to focus on your vocal tone.

Relaxing

When you are stressed, you may have that habit of having your voice go higher. Try meditation to learn how to stay calm under stress.

Using Your Diaphragm

Deep voices come from using the diaphragm. You can train yourself to do this. I call it “belly speaking or singing.” Get out of your head voice, with its nasal sound, and force the voice lower by bringing up support from the diaphragm.

This video, produced by Voiceover Masterclass, shows powerful vocal training exercises.

You will enjoy listening to the narrator of this video because he has a lovely deep voice.

4. Hydration

Always stay hydrated by drinking liquids so your voice does not crack and you don’t make unwanted mouth sounds picked up by the mic. This can go a long way to keeping your voice deeper.

Drinking Liquids

Drink plenty of water. Hot tea is also good for the voice.

Effect of Dairy Products

Avoid milk and other dairy products when preparing your voice for a recording. Dairy products can cause the buildup of phlegm in the throat and chest area that interferes with the pure sound of your voice.

How to make your voice deeper on mic? ( 11 Easy Ways )

Most microphones will be able to pick up the sound you produce, the problem is that the higher the quality of the microphone is the more likely it is to pick up the full spectrum of your voice. In this case, if you have a naturally deep voice then you will have a deep voice with a mic, on the other hand, if you don’t then you will have to improvise on how to make your voice deeper with a mic.

You can make your voice deeper on mic by using a condenser microphone, using a pop filter, working out, using a pitch transposer, using a shotgun microphone, using mobile apps, slowing down, getting close to the microphone, warming up your voice, getting a deep voice naturally, and by drinking dairy products. You should start by simply slowing down while you speak or sing, and focusing on amplifying the vibrations of your vocal cords while you are using your lower-pitched voice.

If you want to enhance your singing and speaking voice then my personal recommendation is to use a natural vocal booster that also soothes and relieves hoarseness Click here to check it out on Amazon.com

Everybody’s voice sounds different when you record yourself with a microphone. Usually, people tend to find that their voice sounds fairly bad, although this is normal because it is probably the first time you have listened to your voice. Sooner or later you will get comfortable with your mic voice, and even then you might not like what you hear. Some people sound monotone with a mic, while others have a squeaky voice.

It is fairly rare that someone has a good microphone voice, in general, a good microphone voice is a deeper voice, although this isn’t necessarily true if you are a singer. In today’s technology-oriented world, it isn’t hard at all to make your voice deeper with a microphone. There are even special voice deepening microphones, although there isn’t really a need for it as there is plenty of free software that will make your voice deeper.

The problem is that a lot of people who use these voice changers have to adjust the settings every time they use a different microphone. There are even a lot of singers who use either voice deepening microphones or software, although it isn’t the best idea, as once you go to sing in front of a live audience, then everybody will hear your true voice, which is probably not that deep. Usually, males are the ones who want to have a deeper microphone voice, although there are plenty of females who want to know how to make your voice deeper as a woman.

My personal recommendation is if you are planning to use your voice professionally like a singer or a radio host, is to not use any voice changers or voice deepening microphones. Sooner or later you will have to use another microphone that doesn’t have all the settings which makes your voice sound deeper. My recommendation is to make your voice sound deeper naturally, for more information check out my recent article How to make your voice deeper permanently ( In 17 Ways ).

A condenser microphone will make your voice sound deeper

The main reason why many people do not have a deeper voice on the mic is that they are using a microphone which isn’t the best quality. There are hundreds of brands of microphones, and with some research, you will find that not all of them will record your true voice. As technology is progressing at a fast pace you will notice that microphones tend to get smaller and smaller. You probably have a smartphone, and if you also have the additional headsets which come with them then you know how small the microphone actually is.

One of the main problems as to why most microphones do not record your true voice is because producing these smaller microphones is a lot cheaper and they do have a higher return in terms of profit. The microphone is basically a speaker that operates the opposite way as a speaker does. Microphones that are highly recommended for singers, in general, are condenser microphones, more specifically either cardioid condenser microphones or large diaphragm condenser microphones.

These condenser microphones have a diaphragm, which will vibrate as you produce your sound and this will allow the microphone to record the true spectrum of your voice. Smaller microphones that are meant for the general purpose have a fairly small-diaphragm which will not be able to pick up all the sounds which you produce and this is why it probably isn’t even recording your deeper voice. If you use a high-quality microphone and you still don’t like how you sound then check out my recent article for probable causes Why does my singing sound awful recorded? ( Top 10 Reasons ).

Using a pop filter will make you sound deeper on the mic

Pop filters are the filters that you place on the microphone, in such a way that it is always facing you. The main role of a pop filter is to filter out the popping noise which you make while inhaling and exhaling. Generally speaking, these are meant for high quality or even professional microphones which are soo good at recording your voice that they will actually pick up the sounds which your body is producing.

While you are inhaling and exhaling you will produce a popping sound while you are switching between the two of them, you will not be able to hear it with your ears, but if the microphone will pick it up then you will probably notice it in the recording. The main reason why a pop filter is a good idea to use if you want a deeper mic voice is that while you are speaking or singing in your deeper voice you will create a lot of resonance and this will affect how your voice will be picked up by the microphone.

Working out will make your voice deeper on the mic

By far one of the healthiest ways to sound deeper with a microphone is to work out. While you are working out you will get a boost in testosterone production, no matter if you are a male or female. This excess testosterone after a couple of months of working out will make your voice deeper naturally. Although even if you have a naturally deep sounding voice, and you still do not have a deep microphone voice then the most probable reason for this is that you are using a low-quality microphone.

The problem with working out to get a deeper voice is that it will take some time and a lot of effort on your part. It is not enough to go to the gym, once in a while and expect miracles in terms of your voice. Consistency is the key, go to the gym at least 3 times per week and allow your body to rest and have a healthy diet, this way you will notice your voice will get deeper a lot faster. Get a deeper voice on the mic with a pitch transposer

Pitch transposers are also known as harmonizers, these are devices that will alter how you sound on the mic. Most of the pitch transposers do come with specialized software with which you can adjust how you sound with a microphone. The problem is that these are fairly expensive, and if you do not already have a high-quality microphone, then there is simply no point in getting one. In general, these devices are meant for professionals only, so if you want to have a deeper voice on the phone or with a mic while gaming, then it is rather pointless.

Shotgun microphones will make your voice sound deeper

These shotgun microphones are unidirectional, which simply means that they record from one direction, and they will not record any other sound which isn’t coming from right in front of them. You have probably have seen a lot of these shotgun microphones, as they are used at conferences and even in the government. These microphones will make your voice deeper in general because they will allow you to stand a little bit further from the microphone.

Mobile apps can alter your mic voice to sound deeper

There are a lot of mobile apps that do change your voice, however, there are some that will actually teach you how to get a deeper voice. My recommendation is to try out a couple of these and see if they will actually make your voice deeper or not. The problem with these apps is that they often use only the microphone which is built-in your smartphone and you will have to troubleshoot on how to add an external microphone, other than that they are a fairly easy way to either make your voice deeper or to learn how to make your voice deeper.

Slowing down while speaking will make your voice sound deeper

Oftentimes, the main problem of why people have a high pitched voice on the mic is because they speak fast. If you have ever heard someone charismatic speaking with a deep voice then you have probably noticed that they speak fairly slow and that they are very deliberate in their pronunciation. My recommendation is, instead of investing in some high tech voice changer is to start practicing speaking or even singing at a slower pace.

People who tend to speak fast, have a fairly high pitch voice, and sometimes it is very hard to keep up with them. If you know that you are a fast talker, then you have to understand that everybody has their own pace, and if you are speaking way too fast they will simply stop to listen eventually.

Get close to the microphone to sound deeper

One way to get a deeper microphone voice is to actually get closer to the microphone, this way the microphone can pick up the full range of your voice, and if your voice is a naturally deep voice then you will probably sound a lot deeper. The problem is that people with high-pitched voices will have a hard time making their voice sound deeper with this method, as the microphone will pick up even the highest of their pitches and it might sound that they have an even higher voice than normally.

This is also called the proximity effect, as you get closer to the microphone your bass or baritone voice will be a lot easier to get picked up by the microphone and this is why getting closer to the microphone will actually make you sound deeper.

Warming up your voice will make it sound deeper

Warming up your voice will make you sound deeper if you have a naturally deep voice. On the other hand for people with a naturally high-pitched voice, will still see some deepening of the voice, depending on how they have actually warmed up their voice, although in some cases it will not work at all.

Get a deeper voice naturally

The problem which most people do not seem to understand is that no matter what kind of microphone they use, it will pick up the sounds they produce. If you have a naturally deep voice you will have a deeper microphone voice, if you have a high pitched voice then you will sound high pitched no matter what kind of microphone you use. This is why my personal recommendation to you is to get a deeper voice naturally.

Once you have developed a deeper voice naturally you will notice that the quality of the microphone isn’t that important, as long as you are fairly constant in your pitch, you will have a deeper sounding microphone voice.

Drinking dairy products will make you sound deeper

There are some drinks that make your voice deeper, although if you are a singer these are not recommended. If you want to have a natural-sounding deep voice then you can drink milk, coffee, or any other dairy products. These dairy products will actually coat your vocal cords with a thick layer of grease which when talking will make you sound a lot deeper. If you are not a fan of coffee then you can use tea with milk, as these also do the job.

In conclusion

As you can see getting a deeper mic voice isn’t hard at all, the problem is that most people do not actually know how to make their voices deeper by simply lowering the tone and pitch of their voice. On the other hand, even if you do not have the ability to control your voice, then you still have plenty of options on how to make your mic voice deeper.
