As stated in the guide description. this guide will help you stop the spread of the Corruption/Crimson, and Hallow. I will refer to these 3 biomes as the «world evil», or simply «evil». If there are any issues with the facts, spelling, or grammar, point them out in the comments and I will fix them.

The Corruption and Crimson are «evil» biomes present from world generation, and it is randomly picked which evil is generated, or after reaching a point in the game, you can choose it for new worlds. Note that the only way to have Corruption and Crimson in a world is to bring some of the alternate evil from another world. The Hallow is a new biome generated after beating the Wall of Flesh for the first time on any world, and will overwrite any existing biome when it generates.

The Corruption is identified by big, straight, chasms and purple vegetation. The chasms consist of several almost straight drops that can be deadly without fall damage preventing items, and a middle tunnel around halfway down. Under the middle tunnel in small caves containing a Shadow Orb, that when smashed with a hammer grants loot, a chance for a meteorite to fall at night, and when the third orb is smashed, the Eater of Worlds boss to spawn. Also, there are Demon Altars in the middle tunnel that can only be smashed in Hardmode, and when they are smashed, generate a new ore (1st, Cobalt or Palladium, 2nd, Mythril or Orichalcum, 3rd, Adamantite or Titanium) into your world and a chance a random block underground becomes Corruption or Hallow, boosting the spread.

The Crimson is similar to the Corruption, but with a bloody theme to it. It is identified with red vegetation and small hills of Crimstone that lead underground. The chasms follow a zigzag pattern before opening into a large main room, with more paths branching off to the Crimson Hearts, the Crimson equivalent of Shadow Orbs. Inside the main room and the entrance path, Crimson Altars can be found, which serve the same purpose ad Demon Altars. After destroying three Crimson Hearts, the Brain of Cthulu boss will spawn.

Once in Hardmode, the evil will start to spread and if you don’t take action, it will take over your entire world. Don’t fear, there are ways to stop this spread!

Some structures naturally slow down the spread of the evil biomes. The Dungeon is the largest natural barrier, and if it stretches to the Underworld, completely seals off an area of the world from evil unless some spawns through a Demon/Crimson Altar. Corruption/Crimson and Hallow can not convert each other, so you can use one evil to block the other. The Snow Biome significantly slows down the spread, because the evil can not take over Snow, instead only Ice can be corrupted. The Jungle can not be corrupted by the Hallow, but Corruption and Crimson can turn Mud into Dirt and spread into the Jungle. Defeating Plantera will slow down the spread to 1/3 its previous speed. If there are 2 or more Sunflowers in a row, they can stop the evil from spreading, however the evil could spread below the Sunflowers through stone, making them ineffective as a primary barrier.

If containing the spread isn’t enough, you can just get rid of it! There are two ways to do this. The first way is buying Purification Powder from the Dryad to cleanse the corruption, but this method is EXTREMELY SLOW considering the tiny range. The better option is using the Clentaminator item. The Clentaminator can be purchased from the Steampunker NPC for 2 Platinum Coins. The Steampunker will move in after at least one Mechanical Boss (The Destroyer, Skeletron Prime, or The Twins) has been defeated and there is a suitable house available. After buying the Clentaminator and a lot of Green Solution, go to the evil biome and start spraying it away.

Finding the evil to purify may be hard, but if you made hellevators to stop the spread, you can drop down them and spray the Clentaminator on your way down, or you can farm for the Rod of Discord and warp between caves while cleansing the world.

A world in which shafts and tunnels have been used to limit Corruption and Hallow spread, effectively containing them.

Upon the activation of Hardmode, Hallow and Corruption/Crimson start spreading, potentially converting the entire world. This guide aims at providing strategies about intervening in this and maintaining world purity.

Since the biomes spread at a relatively slow speed, especially after defeating Plantera and in pre-Hardmode, it takes quite a long time for them to completely convert even a small world. As a result, containing the biomes needn’t be considered urgent, especially for shorter playthroughs. However, some worlds are played on for many hours, and if not dealt with, the Hallow and evil biomes will convert most or even all of the world, and add many difficulties for the player.

Contents

Spread overview [ ]

Whilst Corruption and Crimson spread slowly and only via grass and thorny bushes during pre-Hardmode, they spread very aggressively and to a multitude of different blocks once the Wall of Flesh has been defeated. Defeating Plantera slows the overall spread speed by 50%.

Although near identical in spread there are a few key differences between the three, being the Corruption’s inability to spread by foliage, crimson grass’s inability to resist conversion from hallowed grass, and the Hallow’s inability to spread through the jungle, the last of which is particularly notable for preventing permanent Jungle destruction.

Pre-Hardmode [ ]

An example of shafts able to contain a patch of Hallow from spreading.

Prior to entering Hardmode, it is recommended to contain the existing areas of the Evil Biome.

The simplest step, and often the first, is to dig a tunnel 3-6 blocks wide completely surrounding the areas. Another critical step is placing non-corruptible blocks (such as wood, hay, dungeon bricks, etc.) over or replacing any exposed top sides of corrupt/crimson/jungle grass within 6 blocks of the tunnel’s edges and along the floor of the tunnel, as well as any exposed bottom sides of any grass type along the ceilings of your tunnels to prevent thorns & vines. If you have not or chosen not to cover any top side grass that may grow thorns, make sure to at least leave 5-7 blocks sticking out from the tunnel’s sides to prevent spread from thorns that may grow over the tunnel. It is also a good idea to build these tunnels around areas of interest, such as the Jungle or the player’s base.

Sunflowers are a viable option for early containment, as they can limit surface spread of both evil biomes, even in Hardmode. However, they become less effective when the evil biomes begin to spread underground in Hardmode, so use them mostly for holding back surface grass spread while building your quarantine tunnels in Pre-Hardmode.

While purifying your world evils with purification powder can be tempting, it is almost always better to tunnel around the biome and wait to unlock the Clentaminator, as even in Pre-Hardmode total world purification with powder is extremely costly and unlikely to succeed unless the player is very thorough.

Hardmode [ ]

Shortly after the Wall of Flesh is defeated, two diagonal strips of Hallow and Corruption/Crimson will generate in a V shape. The location of these strips and distance between them is completely random, but if the player has done a lot of previous underground exploring, the affected areas will be very clear. These diagonal strips will begin spreading as soon as they appear, so they can wreak havoc if left unattended. However, immediately trying to stop the spread is not recommended. The new enemies can easily kill players at this point, and the tools available are not powerful enough for the task. Therefore, it is wiser to wait until better gear is acquired.

In a long term world the player’s first priority should be preventing the spread of world evils into the Jungle, as Jungle reconstruction is extremely tedious and must be done block by block. While not many options are available before unlocking the Steampunker, if a safe zone underground is set up the player may be able to slow the spread by planting Hallowed Seeds (bought from the Dryad for 20 silver) or pearlstone at the border. This is especially effective against the Crimson, as crimson grass in converted Jungles is quickly overtaken by hallow grass.

While biome spread is constant in all block types, the amount and concentration of convertible blocks greatly affects the speed of spread, with spread being fastest in Beaches and Deserts, followed by Forest, Underground Snow, and Jungle, with convertible ice blocks being too spread out within most of the surface Snow biome for spread to be possible, outside of World/Hardmode generation and player intervention. Mushroom grass is also immune to spread, although the world evil can still turn nearby mud blocks to dirt.

As blocks are updated 6 times more often on the surface, biome spread is affected accordingly, with the Corruption, Crimson, and Hallow spreading 6 times more quickly there.

In order to obtain this gear faster, one might consider smashing numerous Altars in order to find the new Hardmode ores more quickly. However, note that every single Altar smashed can turn a random block (that can spawn anywhere) into its Hallow/Evil counterpart. This will barely speed up the overall spread, but can be very harmful if the blocks spawn outside quarantined areas. A minimum of 3 altars must be broken in order to gain access to all Hardmode ores, but they can technically be skipped if the player is able to defeat a mechanical boss without their help. Another way of obtaining hardmode ores is fishing for crates, however, this method is much slower.

If the world evil spawned near the Jungle, it can be helpful to artificially create a perimeter of Hallowed blocks to prevent the Evil Biome from converting the jungle, as the Hallow will not spread to the jungle. In any case, note that chlorophyte ore (which can convert dirt and normal/converted grass backs back to mud and jungle grass) does offer the Jungle some protection against the evil biomes.

Once a Mechanical Boss has been defeated, the Steampunker will arrive, giving the player access to the Clentaminator, which helps massively in cleaning and preserving world biomes. Note that this tool and its Solutions are fairly expensive, so the player should have the necessary funds at their disposal; see Guide:Making money for further reading.

Complete Conversion [ ]

If you want to make cleansing your entire world a feasible task, the Clentaminator is an essential tool.

The most reliable way to completely convert or purify a world is to dig multiple Hellevators with a horizontal distance of 120 blocks (since 60 tiles is the maximum range of the Clentaminator) between each other, then glide down each one using Wings or a Featherfall Potion, while spraying both sides. Additionally, the Clentaminator produces a decent amount of light that can completely go through blocks, mapping out the entire world. When purifying it may be advisable to equip a Shield which grants knockback immunity, as taking knockback from enemies while falling down a hellevator can be very irritating.

Note that there are inaccessible areas on each side of the world, and if these areas contain biome blocks, they can still spread back to accessible areas.

As desirable as completely eliminating the spread might sound, leaving a part of the world with Corruption/Crimson and Hallow is not a bad idea if contained properly, since there are a lot of items exclusive to these biomes the player may need later, such as Souls and Biome mimics.

In a new world, Corruption can extend into the Desert. Ebonsand will not spread Corruption until Hardmode.

The Corruption is an evil biome with a dark purple wasteland, death, and decay theme, with an evil forest design to it, in contrast to the red gore theme of its counterpart, The Crimson. Every world will contain one of the two, generated randomly (each with a 50% chance of occurring) or chosen by the player upon world creation ( only after the Wall of Flesh has been defeated in any world). Both contain similar hazards and feature their own unique enemies, items, and blocks. The tools, weapons, and armor obtained via Corruption materials are generally faster, but slightly less powerful than those obtained via Crimson materials. Corruption enemies tend to have slightly lower stats, such as health, defense, and damage. Water here is also purple.

The Corruption contains multiple chasms, underground extensions of the biome. Chasms lead downwards in a straight line, some crossing a horizontal connector, ending with a Shadow Orb. Demon Altars generally line the chasm’s passages, appearing inside and around it. Chasms consist of Ebonstone, which can be blown up by explosives, mined with a Nightmare/Deathbringer Pickaxe or higher, or purified to Stone by using Purification Powder or the Clentaminator.

The Corruption spreads, meaning it slowly converts adjacent tiles to their Corruption variants. See below for details. Chasms, Demon Altars, and Shadow Orbs will only appear upon world generation, and will not spawn in a Corruption area that has formed through spreading. If enough Corruption manages to take over a new area, then that area will eventually adopt the Corruption’s theme music, background, and water color. For an area to be considered a Corruption biome, at least 300 / 200 tiles of Corrupt grass or Corruption blocks must be present.

The Corruption

Most of the notable features of the Corruption

The Corruption is a hazardous biome in Terraria. It has a 50% chance of generating or being replaced by The Crimson with (generally up to three, or if on mobile, two) random locations.

While the player is present in the Corruption, music «Corruption» will play. (Eerie if on old versions, or Underground Corruption if underground).

The Corruption is a dangerous and dark place, it is recognized by its background with violet mountains, dead trees, purple grass and darker lighting than other biomes, and is the only biome in which one can find Chasms, Ebonstone, Shadow Orbs, and Vile Mushrooms.

Initially, the Corruption can spread to regular grass from corrupted grass so long as the blocks are adjacent. Corrupted grass will also occasionally produce thorns that deal 10 damage and grow indefinitely so long as they are within four blocks of another block.

The monsters found in this biome at any time of day are relatively strong and are thus a good reason to avoid the Corruption at the beginning of the game. Most monsters appear to be worms as well as the boss.

Monsters found in The Corruption:

Contents

Hard Mode Changes

After the Wall of Flesh is defeated in a World, the Corruption begins to spread at twice the normal speed, gains the ability to spread over sand and stone as well as turning mud into Dirt Blocks with corrupted grass, and it becomes able to spread across gaps of «incorruptible» material up to two blocks long. Finally, all monsters slain in the Underground Corruption will have a chance of dropping a Soul of Night. When fishing in the Corruption, it is now possible to catch the Toxikarp.

Corruption Prevention

The best and cheapest way is simply by digging a horizontal hole, 6 blocks wide, 3 blocks deep and filling it with any non-biome affected blocks that cannot be bypassed/corrupted (or hallowed). Examples of blocks: dungeon bricks, ores, bricks, clay, ash, silt, or blocks that are acquired through crafting(most of them). This method works on ALL biomes and only takes 18 blocks per hole. The Corruption and Hallow cannot spread through clay, bricks, silt, or ash so you can use those materials to your advantage like making a barrier around your base. Sunflowers will also stop The Corruption from spreading pre-Hard Mode.

Another way is to cure the Corruption before defeating the Wall of Flesh, eliminating the preventatives needed to protect your base. However this is a rather hard alternative as, although it has the best results, it is time- and money-wasting, for little or no profit. Also, as the Hardmode spawns more Corruption when you break the Demon Altars, the original biome is not as worth clearing.

Another method is to spread the Hallow on both sides of your house, as neither the Corruption nor the Hallow can spread across the other. However, hallowed monsters will still spawn which can be an annoyance.

A quick (depends on size) but expensive way to clear the Corruption is by simply blowing it up (with any kind of block destroying Explosives). However, this is very expensive (unless the player has access to a Bomb Statue) and will leave a very big hole, therefore not recommended.

Another (potentially expensive) way to clear the Corruption is to use the Clentaminator to convert corrupted blocks to normal dirt and stone or Hallowed dirt and stone. The Clentaminator uses various colored solutions as ammo, all of which need to be purchased and cannot be crafted. Clentaminate everything, since biomes do spread. Preserving some of the biome is a good idea since sometimes you WILL need that biome (for a boss battle, a Vile Mushroom farm, etc).

However, if the player has a jungle biome blocking the corruption from their home, the corruption will not spread on mud. Therefore, they are safe from corruption problems until hardmode, in which the player will have to switch to non-biome affected defenses.

Artificial Corruption

An artificial Corruption can be created by planting Corrupt Seeds in dirt, and/or by adding around 250 blocks of Ebonstone. This will spawn all monsters from the Corruption and can be used as a place to summon the Eater of Worlds. Placing any Artificial Corruption close to your home is dangerous as Devourers will spawn and attack you.

How do you stop Corruption in Terraria? Well, stopping it isn’t as important as containing it. That might come as a kick in the teeth to some of you, but it’s simply the truth.

For those preparing to enter hard mode, these are the steps you need to take to stop Corruption:

Build Hellevators separating the biomes in your map.

Connect these Hellevators with two horizontal tunnels that run across the map.

Suppose you’ve blasted ahead and smashed your way through the Wall of Flesh without any corruption preparation, though. In that case, you’re probably panicking right now about all the overgrown ugliness infecting your world.

All is almost lost, but not quite. If you’re keen on keeping your world, then you have A LOT of work to do to recover it.

However, you’re better off calling it quits and starting a new world armed with the knowledge of how to stop Corruption in Terraria before it’s too late.

About Corruption

Before diving into how to prevent Corruption, we need to have a little chat. You see, Corruption, or the corruption mechanic, can be split into three separate biomes as opposed to just one.

Hallow.

Corruption.

● And Crimson.

While functionally the same, we need to go over a few distinct differences between each biome. Otherwise, you’re going to be going into your corruption containment half-blind, and we don’t want that.

Hallow

First up is Hallow. Unlike the Corruption and Crimson, of which you can only have one, the Hallow is a guaranteed post-hard mode spawn in every world regardless of seed.

Also, unlike the other two biomes, the Hallow is made up of fantastical, bright-color, fairytale-like themes as opposed to darkness, gore, and decay. It also can’t spread through mud areas found in the likes of Jungles and Glowing Mushroom biomes.

Don’t let its whimsical nature fool you, though. The Hallow is full of dangerous enemies and will spread like wildfire if you don’t deal with it.

Once both the Hallow and Underground Hallow biomes spawn, they will begin to spread. Pearlstone, Pearlsand, and dirt blocks with Hallowed grass growing on them will apply to neighboring blocks. It is also capable of spreading over any existing Corruption or Crimson blocks.

Corruption

Corruption is a dark counterpart to Crimson. You can only have one of the two spawn naturally in your world, both pre and post-hard mode, although you can artificially build them both into your world.

Corruption is identified by its dark, dreary, purple themes of death and decay.

The Corruption extends underground through a series of chasms, each of which ends in a Shadow Orb.

Like both Crimson and Hallowed, Corruption spreads to any susceptible blocks in the vicinity of the pre-existing biome. It can also apply to Deserts, turning them into Corrupted Deserts. The only difference between regular Corruption and the Desert variants is the inclusion of several additional enemies in the latter.

Crimson

Unlike Corruption, Crimson is identified by its stark red color palette. It spreads in an identical method to the other two biomes.

The primary functional difference between the Crimson and Corruption is that Crimson-exclusive enemies tend to have higher stats. To balance that, Crimson materials tend to be slightly more robust than those found in Corruption areas.

Crimson Chasms and the Crimson Hearts found at the end only spawn with Crimson biomes and do not form from spreading to new areas. The same method of applying is shared by Corruption.

Okay, that’s the general introductory information you need to know about the three spreadable biomes. Now we’re going to talk about what you need to do about them.

Almost all of this information pertains to preparing pre-hard mode. Once you defeat the Wall of Flesh and trigger the hard way, all three spread at much faster rates. Therefore, you need to be set up to deal with that in advance. Otherwise, you risk being overrun.

Preparation and Gear

Before we begin containing Corruption biomes, there are a few bits of gear you should try and get your hands on.

Mainly, this is going to deal with your mining speed. Containing these biomes involves a lot of mining. Without the following equipment and buffs, it’s going to take you hours as opposed to a single hour or two.

Buffs

These are the following buffs you should stack up on before starting to contain Corruption:

Slice of Cake.

Mining Potion.

Seafood Dinner.

The Slice of Cake isn’t a consumable despite looking like one. It’s a furniture item that can be placed and activated. Once activated, it will give you a 25% buff to mining speed for two minutes. This buff can be reactivated again once it runs out indefinitely.

To get the Slice of Cake, you need to talk to the Party Girl during a naturally occurring party at dawn.

The Mining Potion, on the other hand, is a consumable. It also provides a 25% buff to mining speed. This lasts for eight minutes on the console or 10 minutes on the PC.

To craft a Mining Potion, you need Bottled Water, an Antlion Mandible, and a Blinkroot. You’re going to want to brew about two hours’ worth of potions on a medium-sized world.

Seafood Dinner gives a significant improvement to all of your stats and has a large recipe consisting of:

Armored Cavefish.

Chaos Fish.

Crimson Tigerfish.

Damselfish.

Double Cod.

Ebonkoi.

Flarefin Koi.

Frost Minnow.

Hemopiranah.

Honey in.

Neon Tetra.

Obsidifish.

Princess Fish.

Pristmite.

Specular Fish.

Stinkfish.

Variegated Lizardfish.

Equipment

As well as your stacks of buffs, you’re going to want to get your hands on the following equipment:

Ancient Chisel.

Reaver Shark Pickaxe.

Molten Pickaxe.

The Ancient Chisel is an accessory that increases your mining speed by 25%. By stacking this buff with our consumables, we’re effectively doubling our mining speed.

You can get an Ancient Chisel in Sandstone Chests, Oasis Crates, and Mirage Crates.

The Reaver Shark pick we’re using will be Light and is obtained through fishing in the Ocean.

Our other pick, the Molten Pickaxe, will also be Light and is used to mine the more complex blocks that the Reaver Shark can’t get through.

By alternating your pickaxes as needed and stacking all of your buffs, mining becomes almost twice as efficient, effectively halving the time it’s going to take to segment and contain all of your biomes.

Segmenting and Containing

How to stop corruption terraria. Смотреть фото How to stop corruption terraria. Смотреть картинку How to stop corruption terraria. Картинка про How to stop corruption terraria. Фото How to stop corruption terraria

Early in the game, and for all of pre-hardmode, Corruption spreads at a slow rate. In other words, you don’t need to worry about containing it until you want to push your world into hard mode.

So, spend some time building up your bases, farms, and all of the necessary equipment to contain Corruption efficiently. You’re in no rush, so take your time.

Once you feel comfortable with your world and you’re ready to take on the Wall of Flesh, you can start the following process.

Step 1. Vertical Segmentation

Our method of containing Corruption involves breaking the map up into a grid via vertical and horizontal segmentation. You will be mining out this grid, hence the intense focus on increasing your mining speed.

The reason we’re doing this is simple; Corruption, Crimson, and Hallow cannot spread more than three blocks. So, by creating a three-block wide gap between biomes and areas of interest, you’re limiting the movement of these biomes to those segments or sectors.

This has several different advantages aside from stopping Corruption. It is a valuable way to set up farms in the three spreadable biomes and allows for systematic cleansing if you decide you want a 100% purified world.

To start, you’re going to want to build a containment area for your base. This will act as a failsafe in case things go wrong.

You want to dig down on both sides of your base until you’re comfortably deep enough. These vertical tunnels need to be at least three blocks wide. However, Four or Six blocks wide gives you a bit of breathing room if you miss a block or two.

Once you have your two tunnels dug down, you want to connect them with a tunnel that is, again, at least three blocks high.

Once your base is segmented, you can move onto the other areas of your map.

Segmenting Your Biomes

You can segment as much of the map as you want. However, we suggest splitting the world up into quarters. The main idea here is to separate each critical area and biome from the rest of the world, so play with that measurement as you see fit.

Once you know how you want to space out your world, dig your vertical tunnel down along each dividing line, being sure to separate all of your biomes.

Unlike with your base, you want to dig down until you hit the lava. Make sure you keep up with a consistent four or six-wide tunnel, whichever you decided on.

At this point, you should have four vertical lines diving your world up, with each biome getting its sector. If needed, go in and add additional lines where you feel they are required. Once you beat the Wall of Flesh, you’re going to get other random Corruption biomes spawning, so you want to make sure it spawns into an area you already have contained.

Pay special attention to your pre-existing Crimson or Corrupted biome – locking them out individually from the rest of the map.

Giving Yourself Breathing Room

Dividing your map up like this is almost enough in and of itself. However, there are some additional steps you can take to secure yourself some more breathing room.

Take any non-corruptable blocks you have, Wood, Snow, etc., and line the ground around your tunnel entrances within six blocks of either size. As well as that, line the tops and bottoms of the horizontal tunnels you’ll dig in the next section with the same blocks.

Step 2. Horizontal Segmentation

With that done, it’s time for you to dig out your horizontal tunnels connecting the vertical ones. These tunnels are going to run across your entire world.

You should only need two of these long tunnels, effectively chopping your world into thirds horizontally.

This result should be a grid-like appearance, with your entire world, underground and above ground, separated into segments or sectors.

This completes your containment and should prevent any large-scale spread of Corruption.

Even after the new biomes spawn, once you go into hard mode, your map should be segmented enough that the new areas are already separated, isolated into individual chunks.

From here, all you have to do is enter hard mode and deal with the consequences. If any adjustments to your grid are needed, make sure you prioritize them.

The enemies in these biomes will likely be too strong for you to handle, so exercise caution if you need to venture into them to deal with the Corruption.

Post-Hardmode

How to stop corruption terraria. Смотреть фото How to stop corruption terraria. Смотреть картинку How to stop corruption terraria. Картинка про How to stop corruption terraria. Фото How to stop corruption terraria

Once your map is all divided up and you kill the Wall of Flesh, you’re going to be entered into hard mode.

If you’ve followed our advice, all of the hard work should already be done. However, there are a few other things you can do in hard mode after the fact.

Jungles, in particular, should get a lot of your post-hard mode attention. Jungle biomes need to be rebuilt brick by brick, making recovering them from Corruption incredibly tedious.

Planting Hallowed Seeds or Pearlstone at the border of Jungles will slow down the spread of evil dramatically, buying you time to deal with the infection properly.

Hallow does not infect Jungles, so creating an artificial Hallow around your Jungle will combat both Crimson and Corruption.

Once your Jungles have been preserved, your focus should be on identifying the newly infected areas.

Hardmode will spawn Hallow and one of the two evils in a V shape randomly in your world. If you have segmented your map well enough, the affected areas should be easy to spot.

Take the time to deal with any necessary emergency actions resulting from the new spawns, being careful to avoid the new enemies.

Once you feel comfortable, you can continue generally playing, with your next milestone being the defeat of a Mechanical Boss. Defeating a Mechanical Boss will spawn The Steampunker. The Steampunker gives you access to the Clentaminator – a tool used to purify infected evil areas.

Total Cleansing

With the Clentaminator in hand, you’re able to start combating Corruption at its roots. This is an expensive undertaking, so make sure you have established effective money-making farms before attempting it.

Your primary method of cleaning your world is going to be by using Green Solutions. These solutions will cleanse large potions of the world quickly but don’t prevent the cleaned areas from getting re-infected.

This shouldn’t be too much of a problem for us, though, as we have quarantined individual areas of the world already.

However, using this solution will turn your Glowing Mushroom biomes into Jungle. This can be reversed, though, by using the Dark Blue Solution on your previous pockets of mushrooms.

Cleansing your world like this is the only way to deal with Corruption after hard mode, mainly if you haven’t segmented your world.

That’s everything you NEED to know about stopping Corruption in Terraria. We do have a few additional tips for you, though.

● Killing Plantera for the first time will permanently slow the spread of Corruption by 50%.

● For a biome to be converted to Corruption, it needs to be infected with at least 200 blocks in console or 300 blocks on PC.

● The name given to the verticle tunnels that we build is Hellevators.

Sunflowers can be a quick and effective preventative measure to take before hard mode. Once Corruption begins to spread underground, though, they become much less effective.

Scarab Bombs can be used to mine out three-wide tunnels quickly. It is a less efficient method of complete segmentation overall.

Wrap Up

That’s everything we have for you on how to stop Corruption in Terraria.

Ideally, you would have everything planned out before you hit hard mode. Plenty of people don’t know that, though.

So, if you have a world you’re fond of and are struggling to fight against Corruption, make sure your base is safe and start slowly making your way through it with a Clentaminator.

Don’t be afraid to start a new world if you need to. Terraria has a steep learning curve, so take that experience into a new map. Your entire experience will be better off for it.
